Blood and Ashes: A Wheel of Time Spoilercast

We're back in the White Tower and the girls, (Moiraine and Siuan in this book) are busy poring over the lists of names captured by the Accepted in the Camps around Tar Valon. They decide to make their own short lists for their own use later...

Meanwhile Tamra seems to be reaching out to trsuted Sisters to begin the search for the Dragon Reborn in earnest.

All the while they are also preparing for their imminent test to be raised...

We're diving into the prequel and our experiences are... different!

We park Rand's journey to pick up with young Lan and Moiraine.

Lan encounters some Aiel after Laman has been killed already, while Moiraine and Siuan witness the Foretelling from Gitara Moroso annoucing the birth of The Dragon Reborn on the slopes of Dragonmount.

They are immediately made part of the effort to identify and locate the infant, and the Tower is...

And there it is! The end of the slog! Or is it? Does the slog even exist!? Tune in and find out!

While we do spend most of our time talking about the slog there are still some significant events in these chapters.

Mat has to deal with a renegade sul'dam and Tuon's willfulness at the same time, and Egwene makes a last minute change to her secrett plan for the White Tower and... things don't work out great.

And Rand gets ...

We're getting to the pointy end and things are starting to wrap up!

Perrin's army is at each other's throats and they are hungry. Then Perrin and his crew have to navigate a haunted town to buy some wheat.

Back at camp Perrin pushes himself futher than he's comfortable when interrogating some captured Shaido, and makes a big choice.

Finally, and old friend with more options returns to the scene, thanks to Balwer.

Can you believe it? We've been doing this for 100 episodes!? Well, I can. So let's keep rolling!

We have quite a bit of variety in this episode: 

Egwene and some prophetic dreams plus an Aes Sedai murder. 

Alviarin returns to the White Tower and has to face Elaida, Mesaana and Shaidar Haran.

Pevara and Tarna Feir do their best to redeem the Red Ajah by considering plans Elaida would despise.

We're back and we have moved on from the Andoran politics!

We join Egwene as she assesses her options for the siege of Tar Valon. Gareth Bryne advises attack, but Egwene wants to avoid Aes Sedai on Aes Sedai fighting at all costs. 

In the meantime there are various political under currents demanding she address negotiations with the White and Black Towers, as well as the small issue of the massive "weapon" deployed at ...

And we're back! Ready to tackle the political intrigue of Andor, as well as the concept of "The Slog".

In these chapters Elayne meets the young High Seats of the houses Dyelin has managed to recruit for Elayne's claim to the throne before she gets her reports from her spy-masters-in-all-but-name: Reene Harfour and Halwin Norry!

Later she is visited by Monaelle and Sumeko to practice a pregnancy weave and they sens...

We're in it now, friends. The stretch of chapters that have alwasy to me represented the concept of the slog.

And I'm happy to report, I didn't mind them. But at least one of us has very strong feelings about the chapters and the book, and we explore that with vigor! 

We touch base with Faile who is fending off adversity on every front.

Then we join Elayne and aviendha as they go about the business of managing the Kin, ...

And we're back! Albeit with 2 of the three a little under the weather, so brace yourself for some croaky voices at points!

But we soldier on, much like Perrin on his unrelenting persuit of his kidnapped wife. There is some good news on that front, but at teh same time Perrin needs to manage his own reputation, the various forces travelling with him, Masema and his army of madmen and to top it all off, a huge pack of 50 darkhoun...

It's our triumphant return after an 8 week break!

And we kick off book 10 with a BANG.

After working through a healthy amount of listener contributions and callbacks, we join Mat in the aftermath of their escape from Ebou Dar in the confusion caused by the freed Windfinders.

Mat must navigate the conflicting priorities and under currents of all his entourage, including Egeanin, Tuon, the Aes Sedai he freed, and of course, Valan L...

We're back with a brand new book! And this one is already shaping up to be a bit of a test. We're surprisingly divided on the prologue here, which makes for some good conversation. 3h of it!

We're treated to a scattershot of points of view, 7 of them over 80 pages. Rodel Ituralde joins the narrative, we check in with Eamon Valda and the surviving Whitecloaks, Gabrelle is observing a change in Logain, Yukiri ...

Rand takes care of some unfinished business in Far Madding, but not without a price. By the time the women pull him and Lan out of the coals it's too late, and Rand has taken some more emotional knocks.

We also quickly check back in with Rand who is still hunting traitors in Far Madding, and who receives a big tip off on where to find two of them...

Mat's party for the next leg of his journey is taking shape. Alludra, Teslyn, Joline and Tuon are all around him, plus Thom, Juilin, Olver and his closest men from the Band.

Tuon is definitely taking an ineterst in Mat, but Mat can only think of getting out of Ebou Dar and how to squeeze Alludra's secrets from her. Literally.

Oh, and a Gholam tries to kill Ma...

We join Elayne and her gang shortly after the attempt at her life and get an unexpected but welcome visit from Egwene in Tel'aran'rhiod. 

We also get a glimpse of Slayer and a bit of a debrief from the Black Ajah sisters in Caemlyn, and as if that's not dark enough, a check in with Milli Skane and her latest plant, Daved Hanlo...

And they're off! Perrin finally sets off after Faile but not after having to navigate a tricky PR situation and suffering the Prophet's madness.
