(00:23):
And we this is gonna be episodethree, I believe, of our one
(01:06):
shot.
Um, so we're gonna do a littlesummary of where you guys got to
last time.
Um, in our first episode, wemet our fantastic characters who
work at the um cryozyte ArcticResearch Base.
We have Gordon Ramshield.
Gordon (01:24):
Hello.
Wylie (01:26):
We have Jared Vern
Squall.
Jared (01:28):
Hey guys, so good to see
you.
Wylie (01:30):
And we have Alan Fizzard.
Alan (01:34):
What am I supposed to do?
Wylie (01:36):
Hi.
And um, so we started out atyour own research base,
CryoZite, and some strangethings happened.
You got some unexpectedvisitors, um, which led you guys
to going on to investigate atanother research base, the
Istid Jokul research base.
And when you arrived there, things were not normal at all.
(01:58):
Um, the heat was shut off, thebase was extremely cold, uh,
most of the rooms were acomplete bedlam and chaos with
things tipped over.
Um you found some reallyinteresting clues, like a
research journal with some umindecipherable scientific notes
(02:18):
at this time, um, but someinteresting pictures of
mushrooms and other things thatthis research center may have
found.
You found a really cool fireknife in the ice lab.
Um, you found a wholeholocoaster, which would um
contain some researchinformation and material.
So hopefully you can read thatwhen you get back to your own
(02:39):
base.
Um you found a research labcovered in acid, um, which was
very concerning.
And you also found the strangefuchsia jelly everywhere that uh
Gordon, our chef, did decide totaste and has survived so far.
Um he took a full pole and hejust kept going.
Brad (03:02):
He's just trying to figure
out what it was, you know.
He just he just it was some newflavor he can he was trying to
figure out.
Wylie (03:08):
Yeah, we did discover it
had a lot of flavor.
Um it was a little bit sweet, alittle bit spicy, and a little
bit biological, which is
Mimir (03:18):
and iron.
It's very metallic.
It's very metallic-y.
Wylie (03:22):
Uh not exactly something
tasty, but definitely a complex
flavor.
So Gordon seems prettyintrigued by that.
Um you have at this timeexplored the entire research
base, except for this strangecavern that Pyra, who um Pyra is
our demolitions expert that youbrought with you, Pyra Ember.
(03:42):
And she observed that theydefinitely blasted this hole um
through the um through the frostand tundra, all the way down
into the rocky earth below.
And so I think at this time youguys were preparing to explore
that environment.
So um I'm gonna load on ourscreen here what you guys see
when you look down that hole.
(04:03):
You did notice a lot of heatrising from that location.
And can someone please describewhat you see when you look down
into this environment?
Brad (04:14):
It looks like a creek
surrounded like a cavernous like
creek with mushrooms everywherekind of lit up, and what looks
like fireweed.
Uh, for those of you who maynot know, in Alaska, we have a
wildflower flower calledfireweed.
Um, and it looks yeah.
(04:34):
It's very pretty.
Wylie (04:36):
Yeah, so you look down
into a warm, glowing cavern with
steep rocky sides.
Um, there's some beautiful blueglowing veins either of mineral
or something else in the rock.
Um, there's a little creek thatseems to run through it because
it's warm enough for water tobe flowing and not frozen, which
is nice.
Um, there is this whole seriesof glowing mushrooms, um, as
(04:59):
well as this beautiful fuchsiagrowing fiery kind of plant.
Um so you guys ready to climbdown the ladder and investigate
further?
Gordon (05:08):
Oh, yes.
Wylie (05:09):
Alright.
So we're gonna I'm gonna moveyour characters down into this
very cool cavern environment.
Okay, and so we've got oh, whogoes first?
It doesn't really matter, it'sjust a Ramshield.
unknown (05:23):
Yeah, Ramshield.
Wylie (05:24):
Yeah, I Ramshield is
eager.
Gordon (05:26):
Yes, he wants those
mushrooms.
Yeah, he's a big mushroom guy.
It's our first dungeon.
First dungeon.
Wylie (05:35):
Our first dungeon.
Alright, I I put Ramshield,then I put Jared.
Unknown (05:41):
Yep.
Wylie (05:41):
Oh, and Alan has been
seeming a little under the
weather.
Oh, um, a little cold, youknow, and um even though we're
going into a warmer environment,um, Pyra does offer him, um,
she says, Hey, Mr.
Mr.
Fizzard, would you like some ofmy fire visky to warm you up?
Alan (05:59):
A visky?
What's a visky?
Pyra (06:02):
It it make your blood warm
and strong.
Alan (06:05):
Oh, that sounds nice.
Pyra (06:07):
Here you go.
She hands you, she hands you aflask.
Kipo (06:11):
Okay, he takes uh a small
sip.
Pyra (06:13):
She's like, drink up, and
helps you like take a nice big
chug of it.
Kipo (06:18):
Okay, he doesn't want to
be rude, so he he does uh he
doesn't like it, but out ofpoliteness, he does drink, I
don't know, what the equivalentof uh maybe a shot, shot and a
half.
Okay.
Wylie (06:30):
Yeah, it's it's it's um
strong and cinnamony and it does
um make make you feel warm, andyou definitely feel that it's
um has a nice magical warmth toit.
Almost like a delicious umapple cider that has had some
cinnamon added to it, and um, itreally does kind of warm up
your bones and give you somesome energy.
Alan (06:50):
Oh, that makes me feel
like the first time I laid eyes
on my Sandy.
Pyra (06:56):
It it gets your heart
pumping.
Wylie (07:01):
All right, and so you
guys have entered the cavern.
What would you like to do?
Jared (07:05):
Alright, I'm gonna just
check around, make sure there's
nothing that's crazy out here, okay, guys?
Everybody just chill out.
Um I'm gonna check for traps.
Okay.
See if there's any traps downhere.
Brad (07:17):
Gordon literally just
starts grabbing mushrooms.
Like finding the biggest ones, the most what look the best.
That's yeah, he just startsgrabbing mushrooms.
Wylie (07:26):
Okay.
Brad (07:28):
Do I need to roll for
picking mushrooms?
Wylie (07:31):
For traps.
Um, no, but I I'm gonna showyou what mushroom you pick in a
second.
Jared (07:36):
Oh, that's a 21.
Oh, wait, actually, that'shigher because this doesn't make
that's a 24, sorry.
Wylie (07:44):
And that was a 24
investigation.
Jared (07:46):
Investigation, yeah, for
traps.
Wylie (07:48):
Um so what you observe is
that this does seem to be a
tunnel that was dug by theresearch staff of Istighakul.
And um, oh, um, something elsethat you notice is that there
are foraging baskets here.
So I brought up an image of onetoo.
This is a basket that'sdesigned as a backpack.
Um, and so people would use it,people use it today in real
(08:11):
life.
Um, but for walking around inthe woods and pick up something
that you forage and then youjust stick it in the basket and
it allows the dirt and stuff tofall off of the things that
you've collected.
Um so you eye is not attached, correct?
Mimir (08:22):
There's a picture of a
dude with a foraging basket.
Wylie (08:26):
Yeah, the dude in the
t-shirt does not come included
when you purchase a foragebasket.
Brad (08:30):
Not included.
Wylie (08:32):
So you don't you don't
get an arcane service you don't
get an arcane servant to helpyou.
You have to carry your ownbasket.
But you do see a stack of thesebaskets right near the bottom
of the ladder.
Um, so seeing that and seeingthe way that this tunnel seemed
like it seems like they dug downand accessed an underground
tunnel.
Jared (08:50):
Oh, cool.
So the tunnel, so they didn'tdig out this tunnel.
Wylie (08:53):
They probably expanded
it, but you can tell by all the
foliage that like it's natural.
It's natural.
And probably because of theDwargar staff who are familiar
with underground terrain andcities, they probably that's
probably why they built theirbase here is they were able to
detect that there was some floraand fauna underneath.
Um, additionally with thecombination of the foraging
(09:14):
backpack, and then we rememberthat Gordon last time found both
mushrooms and like some octopustentacles in the fridge, um, in
the freezer, and he put thoseum little Ziploc bags.
Um I think they call themWhizlock bags here in uh in this
land.
Um so he put these littlemagical food storage bags in his
(09:36):
pocket.
Um and so if uh Gordonremembers that and wants to
compare them to some of themushrooms that he's collecting.
Brad (09:43):
He he would he would just
kind of you know, maybe hold up
the the bag as well as look atthe ones he just picked.
Wylie (09:51):
Um so as you're grabbing
mushrooms, you see ones that
definitely look the tops matchthe ones that you um are in the
bag.
So it definitely appears likethese are mushrooms that they
were eating.
Um so with the combination ofthe foraging baskets as well as
all the stuff here, you get theidea that this was their plan
and for their research basebecause they don't have a
(10:13):
biosphere like you do.
Back at your base, you have abiosphere where you grow
vegetables as well as chickensfor food.
And um they they didn't havethat at their base at all.
You know, you were like theyjust have this big hole in the
ground.
Um, so being that this is fromthe Duergar or so, this is the
Dwarven and Gnomish Alliancethat established this research
(10:33):
center, you get the idea thatthis was their plan all along um
for food and sustainability.
Because you did find somedehydrated meals, um, some some
instant meals up in their umcupboards, but there was not a
lot, so it definitely seemedlike this was their long-term
plan.
Um so, Gordon, as you pick up amushroom, I'm gonna show you
(10:53):
what it looks like.
Oh, interesting.
Brad (10:58):
It's it's a mushroom, but
it looks like a jellyfish.
Wylie (11:02):
Yeah, so you pick up this
mushroom, it has sort of a
pinkish, a little bit glowingtop.
Um the under underneath the toppart of the mushroom.
I wish I had studied somebiology and knew what the parts
of the mushroom are called.
But in essentially the gills ofthe mushroom, it's kind of it's
glowy, and you see these tiny, kind of thin tentacles that
(11:26):
actually as you look closer, they they start to kind of to
wiggle and move as you havepulled this mushroom from the
earth.
Gordon (11:34):
Nice.
Wylie (11:36):
So now you're holding in
your hand this kind of wiggly
little mushroom friend.
Jared (11:41):
I think Jared wants to
give the basket over to Ramchu
and be like, I found this.
Um and he's trying to like makefriends because we've had like
very lot of disagreement.
Um, and then I see this thing.
Um and I'm like, oh, oh no.
Um, because it's like it's gotlike squid tentacles, and I'm
(12:03):
I'm picturing like the squidprints that were upstairs, and
then I'm like, oh, where are allthe people?
And I'm like, I'll be like, Idon't know about this one, chef.
Um this this this looks like ifuh like maybe uh the people
upstairs ate this and thenturned into goop or something
(12:24):
like that, or this goopifiedpeople.
Gordon (12:27):
Oh, I I don't know.
This looks like interestingmushroom, like it could be very,
very tasty though.
So I say we keep it.
Jared (12:35):
We could keep it and
experiment on it.
Um Pyra.
Um, is there um a cavern likethis under our base or no?
Pyra (12:46):
No, not not that I've
seen.
We haven't blown up our base.
Jared (12:51):
I know, I know.
Well, you put in about fourforms fully filled out, which is
crazy.
Um to to blow up most of ourbase, and I I just have not seen
a security uh aspect that thatwould help out with, so I
denied, but we might we mightactually do it when we get back
(13:11):
home.
Pyra (13:12):
See, if you don't know
what is beneath your base, it is
a risk.
Jared (13:16):
Yeah, but you wanted to
blow up the whole base.
That's the problem.
You just wanted to blow upthings.
I don't
Pyra (13:21):
just beneath the fuel
shed.
That is all.
Jared (13:24):
Not the fuel shed.
Pyra (13:25):
We could store all the
explosive underground.
It would be warmer and safer.
This is a nice place.
Jared (13:31):
This is nice place.
Unknown (13:34):
It's nice.
Oh great.
Brad (13:38):
When you hang around
people with an accent and you
start to tamp on their accent.
This is nice place.
Unknown (13:44):
This is nice place.
Jared (13:46):
Oh man, my accent going.
Pyra (13:51):
Gordon, don't you think we
could find some good food down
here?
Gordon (13:54):
Oi, definitely.
I think uh food here would bevery, very good.
Uh so we should forage all ofit.
Maybe even use some of theseflowers.
Uh I don't know, maybe we canmake a tea or something out of
it.
Jared (14:10):
Is this a an alive
creature?
Wylie (14:13):
So you're are you still
holding it in your hand?
Brad (14:16):
Uh yeah.
Yeah, you're still holding it.
Wylie (14:18):
So you're holding your
hand, and so um it seemed kind
of stagnant, you know, when itwas in the ground, it looked
just like a mushroom.
But as you've unearthed it,you've pulled it out of the
ground, it's definitely wrappingits little tentacles around
your hand, just like if youpicked up a little baby octopus.
Um and it's kind of, you know,it's not hurting you.
It's fe it seems to be likefeeling you.
Like, like what is this?
(14:38):
It's investigating, it's it'syou know, it's definitely
crawling around.
And are you holding it firmlyor kind of gently?
Brad (14:46):
Um I think he would
probably be holding it gently
due to his like how big of hishands are, and trying to be, you
know, gentle with somethingthat he could pop possibly cook.
So it would probably be prettygentle.
Wylie (15:00):
Okay.
You've been holding it for aminute now, and so it's kind of
starting like to to its littletentacles are starting to move
up your hand.
It's about you know, about handsized.
You do have big hands, um, butit kind of seems like it's
starting to try to pull itselfup your arm a little bit.
Um, because you know, you'vebeen holding it and it doesn't
necessarily want to stay in thesame place.
And Jar Jared, you do know thatthe tracks that you saw up in
(15:22):
the lab were much bigger.
Jared (15:24):
Oh, okay.
Wylie (15:25):
This this is a little
tiny guy, yeah.
And what you saw was was prettylarge.
Um I would say that biggerones.
Mimir (15:32):
There's always a bigger
fish.
Wylie (15:37):
The the these tentacles
would leave little tiny tracks
um and the bigger ones, I'mtrying to think of a good
reference point.
They'd probably be about, youknow, two two or three inches
across.
So so bigger, like like thesize of our fist versus the tip
of your finger.
Okay.
And so this little guy would bemore tip of your finger
tentacle tracks, and that wouldbe more of a of larger ones.
(16:01):
So this one definitely didn'tleave those tracks, obviously.
Jared (16:05):
But could be so hey
doctor, um, is this a magical
thing or is this a nature-basedthing?
Uh, do you know anything aboutthat?
Doctor.
Kipo (16:17):
He is
Mimir (16:19):
don't say asleep.
Don't you dare say asleep rightnow.
Alan (16:24):
No, he's not asleep
because he's still uh kind of
feeling the after effects fromthe whiskey.
So he's like kind of justlooking around a little bit
dizzy.
Um so you say that and capturehis attention.
He's uh he has been payingattention this whole time
because he's focused on how hefeels.
Um so he looks over and hegoes, uh what?
Jared (16:47):
I'm sorry.
Yeah, the squid thing that's onit is uh the mushroom score.
It's okay, doctor.
It's all under control.
Alan (16:56):
No, he immediately casts
mage hand and uh picks up, takes
it from uh uh I'm sorry.
Wylie (17:04):
From Gordon.
From Gordon.
He takes it from Gordon.
Kipo (17:07):
From Gordon, and uh is
just holding it like up in the
air.
Wylie (17:10):
Okay.
Kipo (17:11):
With the mage hand.
Wylie (17:12):
So now he's holding it by
the cap of the mushroom, and
the little tentacles are arekind of dangling down.
Now it looks even more like ajellyfish as you're kind of
holding it up there uh toinvestigate it.
Brad (17:22):
Yeah.
Gordon is like, oh no, Jerry.
I like Jerry.
And you're name he's alreadygot a name.
Mimir (17:30):
That's the worst.
Wylie (17:31):
You did feel as as it was
being lifted off of your hand,
you did feel its little littletype of its little suction cups
just kind of clinging on.
Mimir (17:39):
Don't.
Wylie (17:39):
You know?
Unknown (17:40):
I'm happy for this
variant.
Gordon (17:42):
And I I Jetty no.
Jet Jetty likes me.
Okay, see, Jetty likes me.
Jared (17:53):
Is this a nature-based or
an Arcana-based thing?
Alan (17:57):
Uh, Doctor.
I don't know.
I'd I'd I'd have to take thisuh to the lab and uh get a good
look at it.
Jared (18:05):
Well, we'll take the
squid as I make eye contact with
the RAM shield.
Gordon (18:12):
Why do these doctors
take all of the things that look
tasty or kind and nice and
Alan (18:18):
get a better look at it if
you want me to.
Gordon (18:21):
All they want to do is
study it.
Wylie (18:23):
They just want to Did you
say you're gonna cast in large?
You could cast in large Yeah,
Jared (18:28):
I I'll be locking
loading.
Kipo (18:32):
Um He does not for the
sake of Spell Slots.
Wylie (18:35):
You do remember that um,
Jared, you I assume you still
have that research journal withyou.
Yeah.
And there was some pictures inthat research journal.
Yeah, I'll look.
Um so let's pull up.
Jared (18:46):
So also, uh just real
quick, is this water going
anywhere or flowing fromanywhere?
Wylie (18:53):
Yeah, it seems to be
flowing.
Jared (18:54):
So it's from a direction?
Um like is there a main likecavern that we're missing or
something like that, like a lakeor something?
Wylie (19:02):
Yeah, like you could
probably follow the str the
direction that the water isflowing.
Um where the source of thewater kind of seems to be that
part of the cavern is sort ofclosed off, but if you followed
the flow of the water, you couldcertainly head in a direction.
Jared (19:17):
Um, do I have like a uh
stopwatch or like a clock or
anything that I like uh I'mgoing to um keep track of when
we came down here um and howmuch time is going to be passing
so we know uh because the stormis gonna come in.
So I need to make sure that weget my team back uh because
(19:39):
there's no way that uh GNar isgonna be prepared for a storm if
we get back.
Yeah.
So I gotta make sure we'relocked down.
It takes like an hour to lockdown everything.
Wylie (19:50):
So Yeah.
Um so you knew that you at thetime that you entered the
cavern.
Jared (19:55):
Yeah.
Nobody listens to manually lockevery door by doing one of
those like uh like don't stealmy car bars across every single
door.
And people usually just walkunderneath them anyway.
Wylie (20:12):
So or step over them
because you're short.
So being being because you areum a gnome yourself.
Uh-huh.
Yeah.
So Jared being a gnomedefinitely has difficulty with
the security.
Jared (20:22):
I got transferred
actually, you know, and it's
it's been uh I was gonna come tothis base, but they were like,
oh, we don't need security.
Look at me now.
Wylie (20:32):
Definitely.
Um and so you are, let's see.
Um I brought up the um journalfrom last time, so you can check
that out.
Jared (20:45):
Cool.
Wylie (20:45):
And I'm gonna see if
there's another page here.
Hang on.
Okay.
And so as you're also looking,um you see some pictures.
Ooh, that got really big.
Jared (21:01):
Oh boy.
Um, okay, so I see uh moremushroom things, but then I see
like um oh gosh.
Um it's almost like oh, how doI describe this?
Uh like a squid with a uh likeuh a um big like tough head um
(21:26):
that uh has mushrooms growingout of it.
It kind of looks like um what'sthe thing uh in Baulders Gate?
Kipo (21:33):
Um ever played.
Oh my gosh.
Brad (21:36):
I don't know.
For me, it kind of looks likean octopus a little bit.
Jared (21:39):
Yeah.
Kind of with its head.
Yeah, but it's like almost fromum oh my gosh, I can't
remember.
There's the mushroom creatures, the mite mycain or mycarin,
myconoids.
Wylie (21:52):
Yeah, yeah, it kind of
looks like a combination of like
the chanterelle mushrooms, um,which are sort of the more
flowery looking mushrooms.
So a combination of that aswell as um it's got some kind of
octopus-y sort of tentacles, sort of that squiddy face.
Um and um so definitely alittle bit of glowing going on.
(22:15):
So there's kind of a variationthat looks a little more
jellyfish-like, and there's avariation that looks a little
more squid-like.
Um, and you're seeing both ofthose in the journal.
Jared (22:25):
Um, so yeah, I I show
that to everybody.
Alan (22:30):
Um Alan drops the one that
he's holding in the major hand.
Gordon (22:40):
Jerry, no.
Wylie (22:42):
So Jerry falls to the
cavern floor, kind of bounces as
he hits the hard rock below.
And um, now that it's landed onthe ground, uh pauses for a
moment and then kind of startscrawling with his little
tentacles.
Um, and actually I'll roll tosee which direction he goes.
Jared (23:04):
Also, it looks like uh a
mind flayer mushroom.
That's what it looks like.
That's what I was that's what Iwas thinking.
Um not that uh Jared would knowthat, but I want to describe
really well what it's like.
That's a good yeah.
Yeah.
Wylie (23:19):
Gordon, can you pick a
number for me?
Brad (23:21):
Uh-oh.
Between what and what?
Wylie (23:23):
One and four.
Between one and four.
Brad (23:24):
One and four?
Wylie (23:28):
I'm just seeing if he
goes back towards you, if Jerry
remembers you, or if he goesback towards the other mushroom.
You pick a three.
Mimir (23:35):
Oh, that's a mistake.
Wylie (23:37):
It's a four.
So Jerry
unknown (23:39):
um you're dead.
Brad (23:43):
It's a death saving throw.
Wylie (23:45):
Instead of coming towards
you, showing that he loves you
and misses you, uh, Jerry justcrawls um kind of towards the
rocky edge of the stream andkind of looks like he might be
kind of regrouping over there atthis time.
Gordon (23:58):
So well, that hurts a
lot, Jenny.
Jared (24:03):
That's crazy.
Um, I'm can I make like anature check um if this is a
natural occurrence or if this isan experiment that they did?
Like, did they find ummushrooms?
Well, I don't know if I'm goodat nature.
I'm not great at nature.
Anyway, good at and I'll belike, you might know about this.
Brad (24:23):
Um I have a plus three on
nature checks.
I will help you then.
Okay.
Um I'll I'll check and seewhat's up with with Jerry.
Wylie (24:32):
Um, does does Jared maybe
explain to Gordon because you
don't want to be eating anexperiment?
Jared (24:37):
So I I'm just curious if
this is like a natural thing
like that grows here, or if thisis an experimental thing, and
then they messed, you know, likeyou know, like uh one of the
famous plays that used to uh uhwith dinosaurs, you know, they
they they started experimentingwith it and uh Wait, what about
dinosaurs?
Gordon (24:56):
Oh, I was Do you think
Jerry is a dinosaur?
Jared (24:59):
No, I don't think Jerry's
a dinosaur.
Gordon (25:01):
How about I check to see
if Jerry is a dinosaur?
Jared (25:03):
Okay.
Brad (25:05):
I'll I'll I'll do a nature
check on on Jerry.
And so just roll.
I've got uh 16 plus three, so anineteen.
Wylie (25:15):
Okay.
Plus he was helping you, so youhave advantage.
But just see if you get an at20.
Brad (25:20):
Oh, yeah.
Jared (25:22):
No, plus seven.
unknown (25:23):
Okay.
Wylie (25:23):
I thought it was a one
from him.
Yeah, that'll be a good one.
Jared (25:26):
I'm still trying to
explain the dinosaur.
So it's actually done.
Wylie (25:30):
Zero out.
Yeah.
Um okay, and you were trying tosee basically determine if you
think it was an experiment or ifit grows naturally.
Brad (25:36):
Yes, yeah, yeah.
Just just to see kind of whatwhat Jerry is.
Wylie (25:40):
Yeah, you do think that
um Jerry was found naturally in
this environment.
You think that there's so manyof them.
It would be kind of crazy ifthey had grown them all.
Brad (25:49):
Right.
I think that uh Jerry isnatural.
He is uh he is not made from uhexperiments.
Jared (25:57):
Oh man.
Okay.
Um I'm a little worried becausethe tentacles that were up up
above were big.
And I'm curious.
Um I'm gonna take like one ofmy crossbow bolts and touch the
Well, I guess you were alreadytouching the tentacle things,
(26:18):
weren't you?
Yeah.
Alright, my leading theory.
Here we go.
Um, because I work at aresearch place too, in my
journals.
This is my leading theory.
That somehow a giant one ofthese d zapped the remaining
people and they are and then Ilike stop and I'm like, what if
(26:42):
they are infecting us right now?
Um I uh I start trailing off.
I'm thinking about the dog andlike why was the wizard trying
to kill the dog?
And then I was like, oh, maybethe dog is infected with like
this mushroom thing.
And so I I start like writingin my journal, like and then
(27:05):
start connecting dots, and I'mlike, what if um if we eat these
things and then are you are youa squid?
Are you turning into a squidright now?
Do you feel squid-like?
Gordon (27:15):
I am not squid, I am
Gordon.
Jared (27:18):
Okay.
Um, and I'm like, okay, what ifum so I basically am drawing
this like map and a lot ofcircles around the wizard and a
lot of circles around the squidand maybe like the dog, and it's
like maybe dog infected, weprobably should get going.
But then I'm like, oh, I wantto explore this cavern.
So I start panicking.
Wylie (27:39):
Okay.
Everyone give me a perceptioncheck.
Jared (27:41):
Cool.
Can I do it with disadvantage?
Wylie (27:43):
Sure, because you're
distracted.
Yeah, for sure.
Jared (27:46):
12.
15, uh, 20.
Wylie (27:51):
12, 15, even with
disadvantage.
Yeah.
Wow.
Jared (27:54):
Good.
I have a plus ten too becauseof expertise and stuff.
Wylie (27:58):
Um, so with Alan's 12,
um, Alan's noticing it's really
nice in here.
It's warm.
Like, he's like, this place iskind of great.
It's it has like a really cozyvibe with the glow from the
mushrooms.
You
Alan (28:11):
just need my chair.
Wylie (28:17):
Um, and you can tell um
that the water is flowing, um,
I'll say, to the south in here.
Um, and then um, Gordon, younotice that Jerry is is coming
back towards you.
He's coming, he's just creepingacross the ground, just you
know, not make it a big stir, but he is coming back in your
direction.
Um, and then Jared, despiteevery everything that's going
(28:40):
on, and and you're like, whereis this other sound?
What has happened?
You hear a chink, chink ofpickaxes in the distance down
the cavern in the direction thatthe water is flowing.
Jared (28:52):
Um, I'm gonna be like,
Alright, everybody.
I close the book.
Now that that's over.
Everybody no one was payingattention.
Pyra probably also was notpaying attention.
Wylie (29:04):
She's like investigating,
like,
Pyra (29:06):
oh wow.
This is an interesting cavern.
How much explosives would Ineed to collapse this tunnel?
And she's like counting thedynamite in her bag.
Mimir (29:15):
Oh my gosh.
She's gonna kill us all.
Wylie (29:18):
She's just curious about
how deep sh deep she'd have to
dig to access a cavern underyour guys' base.
That's what that's what she'sfocused on.
Jared (29:24):
Yeah, she's focused.
Um and I'll be like, I hearpickaxes this way.
Follow me, team.
Um, and I'll have my crossbowbolt out, uh, lock and loaded.
Um, and I I go in full securitymode and I'm like looking
around and I'm like towards thepickaxes.
Wylie (29:40):
Okay, so I assume you're
leading the way.
Jared (29:42):
Yeah.
Wylie (29:42):
Okay.
Jared (29:43):
I don't know if they're
following.
That's the thing.
I'm full focus.
I'm on panic mode.
Ellen's following.
Brad (29:49):
Gordon will follow,
although he will probably pick
up.
Wylie (29:52):
He picks up Jerry.
Brad (29:53):
Yeah, absolutely.
Jared (29:54):
Crazy that the DM is also
naming it Jerry.
If I have to kill this thing, you You guys cannot get mad at
me, okay?
Blunderers, you cannot get mad.
Brad (30:06):
Um, but he probably one of
the uh I don't know if uh
there's any extra of the whatwhizlo whizlocks or whatever
they're called.
Wylie (30:14):
Uh uh-uh-huh.
Um so you had one whizlock thatcontained um mushrooms.
Right.
And you had one whizlock thatcontained octopus tentacles, and
that's it.
That because you just pulledthose two bags out of the
freezer.
Jared (30:29):
You do have the backpack
that I gave you though.
Okay.
That you could put them in.
Brad (30:33):
Does the backpack have a
top to it?
Jared (30:35):
It does not.
Brad (30:36):
That's the problem.
Wylie (30:36):
You could see in the
picture it was open.
Yeah.
Because they're typically madethat you could just kind of toss
stuff over your shoulder andback into that basket.
So that one doesn't have alint.
Jared (30:44):
I have extra coats on if
you want me to like put a top
over it.
So like we can just make shift.
And just making sure Jerrydoesn't escape.
Brad (30:58):
Correct.
Yeah, that's that's kind of thething.
I'm just trying to make sure hedoesn't escape.
Wylie (31:07):
So at this point your
party is moving forward.
So yeah, Gordon would be doingsomething pretty quick.
Brad (31:12):
Uh Gordon would probably
go ahead and throw out I'm
trying to decide if it would bethe mushrooms or the tentacles.
Let's go.
He would probably empty thetentacles.
Okay.
And put Jerry into that Ziplocbag.
Wylie (31:28):
Okay.
Um, as you dump out thetentacles, do you just dump them
on the trail?
Do you dump them in the creek?
Brad (31:34):
I would say on the trail.
Okay.
Yeah.
Wylie (31:37):
So as you dump out the
tentacles on the trail, they
were frozen before, but you cantell that they've fully thawed
out and warmed out, and they arestarting to wriggle.
Um and Jerry and you see Jerryand he's coming towards you, are
you gonna scoop up Jerry andstick him in the bag, or what
are you gonna do?
Brad (31:52):
Oh my gosh.
Um would probably scoop him upin the bag, like with the bag.
Okay.
Wylie (32:00):
And you seal it?
Brad (32:01):
Yep.
Wylie (32:02):
Okay.
And so you air holes for him?
Brad (32:05):
No.
Jared (32:07):
Interesting.
Maybe I'm not the one thatkilled Jerry.
Wylie (32:11):
Jerry doesn't need to
breathe.
Jared (32:13):
He's fine.
Mimir (32:14):
Worst dog owner ever.
Wylie (32:17):
Okay, so Jerry Jared is
leading the way, followed by
Alan.
I'd say Pirate followed youpretty close.
She's not really payingattention to the to Jerry, and
then Gordon is finallyfollowing.
And you put Jerry in hisWizlock bag, and where do you
put the bag?
Brad (32:33):
Uh I'll put the bag into
the backpack.
Wylie (32:35):
Okay.
It's n in the backpack.
Okay.
All right.
Um, can everybody tell me whatyour dark vision or you know
eyesight vision abilities are?
We're in dim light.
Alan (32:46):
I have dark vision.
Wylie (32:47):
Okay.
Jared (32:47):
I also have dark vision.
Wylie (32:48):
Up to 60 feet?
Gordon (32:50):
Yep.
I think I don't know, I couldbe wrong.
Mimir (32:55):
Uh you do not have dark
vision.
Wylie (32:58):
Okay.
But this is fine because you'reat the back anyways.
Jared (33:00):
I also have a flashlight
I can give you.
Because we established that aflashlight earlier.
So I'll toss you theflashlight.
Sounds good.
Make sure you write that down.
Don't lose my flashlight.
Brad (33:10):
Instantly lose his
flashlight.
Jared (33:12):
It went into the creek.
No! My flashlight.
That's standard issue.
Cool.
Um, I'm gonna can I make aperception check to like narrow
down exactly where this is?
Wylie (33:28):
Um where the sound is
coming from.
Uh it's it's down the cavern.
Look up you know.
Um and so I assume you guyswalk towards the sound and as as
it's getting louder.
Okay.
So I'm gonna move you guysdown.
You're following the creek.
Jared (33:43):
And I'm on guard.
I have my weapon out, weapondrawn.
Oh, okay.
Wylie (33:55):
Got it.
Um, so you're moving along andum sorry, I'm moving, I'm moving
all the characters and stuff.
Um and Jared, you have such ahigh passive perception.
Gordon (34:10):
Yeah.
Wylie (34:10):
Um, so you and Alan are
in the lead, Pyra's behind you.
Um, you see a little whiterabbit hopping down the trail
that then disappears into thecavern wall.
Brad (34:21):
It's Peter Cotton Tail.
Jared (34:22):
The cavern wall?
Oh no.
Okay.
Um, I'll be like, wild.
Um I'll continue going.
I don't know.
I don't know what to do withit.
I can't go through walls.
Um I will uh have my weapon outthough, and if I see another
(34:43):
bunny, I'm just gonna shoot it.
Wylie (34:46):
So you get you get
really Intense.
Jared (34:49):
I'm on guard.
If it comes and attacks me, Idon't know what I there's squid
mushrooms down here.
I don't know if there's squidbunnies either, you know?
Unknown (34:56):
So Alan's it's just a
normal bunny.
Kipo (34:59):
Alan's feeling cheeky
because he had just cast my
minor illusion of the bunny.
And so it's your so he's behindyou and he makes the the bunny
pop back out from the wall.
I'll take a shot.
Okay.
Jared (35:16):
I'll take a shot at the
bunny.
Mimir (35:19):
Oh, it's it's something.
It's uh a 16 to hit a fakebunny.
Wylie (35:24):
I think you probably hit
a fake bunny.
Mimir (35:26):
Yeah.
Jared (35:28):
This is crazy.
Everybody be on guard.
Doctor, I'm so glad you'reright behind me.
Alan (35:34):
He's literally like has
his hand out in front.
Ready, I see.
I know nothing about magic.
Wylie (35:41):
He just thinks Alice's
prepared to cast a spell.
He doesn't think he's actuallycatching.
Alan (35:45):
He has to spell.
He's just snickering tohimself.
Wylie (35:51):
Okay, um, so as you move
down, um you can you can kind of
see that there's little pathssort of on both sides of the
creek.
It is it's a fairly narrowcavern.
There's not a ton of walkingspace.
Um but as you guys get overhere, you s you see a group of
humanoids in the darkness.
(36:13):
And they seem to kind of beshuffling around the edge.
Um right over here.
I'll just use this this is nothere in the screen, but I'm just
showing you which location.
Okay.
So on this part of a map overhere, um, you see a group of
figures kind of they they maybelook like they're foraging or
(36:33):
digging.
Um that it looks like maybethey're trying to expand the
tunnel in that direction,perhaps.
Brad (36:40):
Um so basically across the
tree, the creek on the other
side, the trail that they're on.
Wylie (36:45):
Yep, across the creek on
the other side, um, on the
pathway that's over there, um,you can see that there's a
little tiny figure.
So um reminds you of the littletiny old woman that you saw in
the staff photos.
And then there are six other umdwarven-sized figures over
there.
They currently have their backsturned to you.
Jared (37:04):
Cool.
Um, since I have sneak attack,I'm just kidding.
Wylie (37:09):
You have sneak attack,
the old woman?
Jared (37:12):
Uh I have very bad
charisma, so I'll be like, all
right, everybody, calm down.
Uh and I just start yelling atthe top of my lungs uh and
walking forward.
Okay.
Um, and I'm shaking whilepointing my crossbow.
I'll be like, calm down, youneed to calm down.
Wylie (37:29):
Okay.
Jared (37:29):
I have very low charisma.
Wylie (37:32):
So you were definitely
loud enough um for them to hear
you.
Yeah.
And so definitely not stealthy.
This group turns around andlooks at you, and you indeed see
a little um a little gnomewoman um dressed like a
researcher.
Um, and she she she turnsaround with surprise, and you
(37:53):
see these six other Duergarresearchers as well.
Um, they remind you of thecharacters that you saw in the
staff pictures upstairs in therec room, um, and as well as
they look kind of similar to theDuergar wizard that researcher
that you saw before.
Um so they turn around and umthey all look surprised, and and
(38:14):
the little gnome woman says,
Eira Gwyn (38:16):
Oh, visitors.
Jared (38:19):
Uh question, DM.
In the picture, all of theireyes are red except for hers.
Is that the case here?
Wylie (38:25):
Um that that's just a
Duergar night vision thing.
That's not like a creepy.
Okay, cool.
Oh.
Uh because I was dimmed.
They do look creepy.
Jared (38:34):
I'll be like, what's
going on around here?
Um I'm I'm a high-rankingsecurity officer and I need to
see local hero.
Yeah.
I need to see your uhcertification.
Uh what's what's what's up, yo?
Wylie (38:54):
What's up, yo?
Um the little gnome woman says,uh
Eira Gwyn (38:58):
Well, I believe
you've come to our base.
We don't get many visitors.
Um you can put down theweapons.
Jared (39:09):
Okay.
I put down a weapon because Ihad I mean, I'm like, she's got
a point.
Um I'll be like, I needsomebody else to talk here.
Gordon (39:17):
Gordon comes out and was
like, hello, do you know my
Uncle Boris?
Uh I'm trying, I I think heworks here.
Do you know an Uncle Boris?
Wylie (39:26):
She like pauses and and
looks really confused.
Like, she kind of looks blankfor a second, and she's like
racking her mind and like,
Eira Gwyn (39:34):
Boris?
No, there's no Boris that workshere.
Gordon (39:39):
How about an Olexei?
Do you know Olexei?
Eira Gwyn (39:44):
No, there's no
Alexei.
Gordon (39:47):
Or my babushka yang.
Jared (39:50):
They know anybody,
alright?
They don't know anybody in yourfamily.
Your family doesn't work here.
Uh, I'm gonna be like, uhbecause I'm at full panic mode,
uh um still.
I'm gonna be like, all right, what's going on here?
Because uh so a wizard cameover to our place uh attacking a
dog, and now we came over andeverybody what what's going on?
(40:13):
Why are there squid mushrooms?
Why are they goop on theground?
Gordon (40:17):
Also, what is your
recipe for the jelly?
I'm just very, very curious.
Eira Gwyn (40:21):
Um, so many
questions.
Um We are investigating we areresearching here in the tunnels.
That that's what we're doing.
Jared (40:35):
Can I make an insight
check?
Is is she like I feel likeshe's not telling me everything.
But I mean she's only answeredone question.
Yeah, exactly.
But I also that she doesn'tknow my Uncle Boris.
Yeah.
That's a good point.
And I think she does.
Uh but it just feels we likethis scenario feels weird.
(40:57):
Do I feel uncomfortable orwould this be like is this a
normal situation?
Wylie (41:01):
Yeah, sure.
Roll your insight check.
Cool.
Jared (41:04):
Oh man, I am rolling
really well.
That's a 25 insight check.
Wylie (41:13):
I mean, so it is hard to
tell because you've never met
these people before, you know, and you can't tell what is their
like normal.
Gordon (41:19):
Yeah.
Wylie (41:19):
Um, I mean, the situation
definitely seems weird.
The base was really bashed upand like they're just down here
digging, maybe.
Um, so there's there'ssomething weird going on, but
you're not exactly sure what itmeans.
Jared (41:32):
My security like tingleys
are going off.
Wylie (41:35):
Yeah, yeah.
You're like this this you know, you're you're definitely gonna
continue to approach thisconversation with caution.
You're not gonna think thatthese people are best buds.
Um could think I didn't rolllower.
Jared (41:46):
That would have been bad.
Wylie (41:47):
Uh I'm yeah, I I'm just
trying to base it off of the
information that you have, because you don't I mean you
don't have a lot, but itdefinitely feels weird that
instinct is correct.
Um and so she also says uh toGordon, because he asked about
the jelly.
Eira Gwyn (42:01):
Uh muddy here, muddy
is uh and she points to one of
the dwarf with her, is our chef, and um he could perhaps uh help
you with the recipe you'relooking for.
Gordon (42:13):
So what kind of what
what uh what what do you use?
How much spices do you havespice in it?
It does have a little bit of akick.
Wylie (42:22):
And uh and uh Muddy kind
of steps forward and is like, uh
it's it's uh bit complicated, but if we were in the kitchen I
could tell you.
Brad (42:32):
Yes, but your kitchen is a
little bit scary right now.
Wylie (42:35):
Oh, and he's kinda like,
yeah, it is like and um uh and
uh the researcher, the the ladysubstance, she's like, uh,
Eira Gwyn (42:48):
we should introduce
ourselves.
I'm Eria Gwyn, and um this isCranky and Stanky.
Unknown (42:58):
Oh no.
Eira Gwyn (43:00):
And this is Stumble
and Bumble.
And of course you've met Muddyand Buddy.
Gordon (43:09):
Hello, buddy.
Jared (43:11):
Only say hi enough,
Gordon.
Because that's the only oneyou're like, he's a buddy.
He's the buddy, yeah.
Wylie (43:18):
And Gordon wasn't really
paying attention, he only
remembers the last name weheard.
Gordon (43:21):
Uh Buddy.
Jared (43:23):
I think um I'm gonna say
I I'm curious.
Uh your uh station is not up tocode.
Um, and so I'm just wonderingwhat's going on uh upstairs.
Why is it a mess?
Um also why was one of yourresearchers missing an arm and
trying to kill our uh a dog?
Eira Gwyn (43:44):
Oh, oh, yes.
We had quite an unfortunateincident.
Wylie (43:50):
And she notices Alan.
He looks like he's dressed, youknow, like a researcher.
You know, the rest of you are achef and a security guard, and
and and so she she kind ofidentifies him as like you're
somebody who would work in alab, and and she says,
Eira Gwyn (44:03):
surely this handsome
young man knows the issues of
working in a lab, and we s wehad a terrible acid spill.
Um, and of course the heat wasturned off, and so it's terribly
cold up there.
So we came on down um becauseit's warm.
And um what was the otherquestion?
Jared (44:26):
Oh, why why is one of
your researchers trying to kill
a dog and he was missing an arm?
Eira Gwyn (44:32):
Uh in the the some of
the dogs got out and um Aggro,
he went to get them.
Jared (44:41):
Okay.
That doesn't really get in thedog and like so why was he
trying to kill him?
And then it hurt us uh whiletrying to kill the dog.
Eira Gwyn (44:52):
Aggro did that?
Jared (44:54):
Yep.
Eira Gwyn (44:54):
That's not in his
nature.
Jared (44:58):
Um I'm you know, I can't
I don't know the man, but he's
dead now, so.
Eira Gwyn (45:04):
You've killed Aggro?
Jared (45:05):
No, well, okay.
Gordon (45:07):
Technically it was the
doctor here.
Alan (45:10):
He fell.
It was the ground that killedhim.
Jared (45:13):
Now remember because I
told you that I killed him?
Oh yeah.
Okay, sorry.
No, you didn't.
No, because I couldn't.
I'd be like, no, I'm gonna Oh,yep, I killed him.
Um I take the fullresponsibility.
Oh gosh, it's hot here, isn'tit?
Eira Gwyn (45:36):
The the ground, the
you killed him, or the ground
killed him.
Wylie (45:39):
I and when when you when
she said you killed him, all the
other dwarves kind of like theylike tense up.
You know, they're holding umlike pickaxes and shovels and
and things like that, and theyall kind of like look at you
with with tension.
And she's just confused at thispoint.
Jared (45:56):
I'll show my like burn
marks that I got from the
lightning, and I'll be like, oh,it was in self-defense.
Um, I had to uh put him down.
He reached for my weapon, andso I was I just had to kill him
a night.
Um that was that was inself-defense, so yes, he also
was not very kind to the dog.
Brad (46:16):
Yes, yes, he was he was
not kind to dog to the stomacha.
Eira Gwyn (46:19):
So did you bring our
dogs back?
Oh, there was only one.
Only one dog?
Jared (46:25):
Yes.
Eira Gwyn (46:26):
How did you get here?
Jared (46:27):
Well, we brought our dogs
from our Base.
Oh no.
Eira Gwyn (46:30):
Oh you have dogs!
Jared (46:32):
Yeah, of course we have
dogs.
Why wouldn't we have dogs?
Eira Gwyn (46:37):
Do you think you
could help us?
We need to get the heat on inthe labs.
It's so cold we had to comedown here.
Jared (46:44):
You can't you guys can't
fix the heating area?
You just turn up the temp, right?
I don't know anything abouttechnology.
Eira Gwyn (46:54):
It's so cold we
couldn't operate the equipment.
I'm very sensitive to the cold.
Jared (47:03):
Oh boy.
Okay.
Um can I uh make anotherinsight?
Is this person acting like a uhbasically I'm trying to think,
are they infected withsomething?
Is there like can I make like aperception check?
Is like, do they look normal?
How far away are we?
Yeah, we're like 30 feet,right?
(47:23):
Or something like that.
Wylie (47:24):
Oh you're yeah, you're
across the creek, so you're not
too close to them.
I mean um I think they wouldhave stepped a little closer
because you're talking, likeyou're like shouting across the
creek.
Oh, I'm definitely shouting.
And let me let me kind ofadjust the distance a little bit
and then make this a littlesmaller to reflect where they're
actually located.
Yeah, basically.
(47:45):
So there they probably wouldhave come like up here.
Um, so I would say that that'smaybe around 15 feet away
because you know, you'd want tobe able to see them and stuff.
And um, you guys can move yourcharacters if you think they
would have moved a little bitcloser for conversation, but
they're about you I'd say you'reall probably right about here.
Jared (48:02):
Yeah, that's where I
would I'm just talking over the
the cavern.
Um but I I kind of want to makelike I feel like they're not
acting like normal humanoidswould.
Um and so I want to make surethat they're not infected with
something, or like I guess Iwould have to get up close and
do that.
Wylie (48:21):
Yeah, for infection, I'd
I'd say you'd probably have to
make a medicine check.
Jared (48:24):
Yeah, it would I would
have to be closer to, huh?
Wylie (48:27):
Yeah, for 15 feet away.
Jared (48:28):
I mean it's hard to see.
Wylie (48:30):
That's a little hard to
like glasses, but and and
definitely, you know, they're umyeah, like their personality
seems a little odd, but youdon't know these people.
So it's it's hard to tell if ifthis is normal for them.
Jared (48:42):
Yeah.
Wylie (48:43):
You are a gnome, and
she's a gnome.
Yeah.
So I think there would be somecultural, you know, things that
you could relate to.
Jared (48:49):
Yeah.
Wylie (48:49):
Um with the Dwaregar,
like they seem kind of creepy,
but I don't know how much timeJared would have spent with
underground dwarves.
Um and not a ton.
Jared (48:57):
That's why I wasn't set
to this facility.
Yeah.
I spent more time with theother.
Um, okay.
Um I'm gonna I'm gonna be likeone second, and then I'm gonna
turn and huddle with you guysand be like, perfect.
Yeah, I'm gonna be like, hey, what's what do you guys think
what's going on here?
This seems a little suspicious.
I don't know.
Gordon (49:17):
I don't know, Buddy
seems pretty nice.
Jared (49:19):
Just because his name is
Buddy doesn't mean if my name
was Buddy, you would like memore.
Alan (49:23):
Probably stinky.
Who names their son stinky?
Jared (49:29):
That's a good point.
Kipo (49:32):
We're really focusing on
the name.
Wylie (49:35):
To be clear, it was
Stanky.
I know.
Yeah, he's heard.
He's old.
Alan, definitely.
It's all proper.
Jared (49:43):
Um Pyra, what do you
think?
These two guys are focusing onnames.
Pyra (49:48):
Pyra.
Um she's like, oh, they buildpretty nice tunnel.
Jared (49:53):
Man, really focused on
the wrong stuff here, guys.
I I just feel like they're notacting normal, guys.
I'm just gonna be honest withyou.
Gordon (50:01):
Well, I think Buddy is
nice, but the rest of them, I uh
yeah, maybe a little off.
Maybe something's wrong.
Brad (50:08):
But again, Buddy, Buddy
seems like a nice guy.
Jared (50:11):
Right.
So if we attack them, Buddy'sthe one that we're not gonna
attack, correct?
Correct.
Gordon (50:16):
Don't go for Buddy.
Jared (50:17):
Uh we're like whispering.
Um but I'm I'm like stagewhispering.
Alan (50:22):
Um well if we're
whispering.
Jared (50:28):
It's okay.
You I have a one-in-one passiveperception, so I can hear
literal whispers.
I cannot sleep around you.
You snore so loud.
Alan (50:38):
If they if they seem like
they're fine, I say we just
leave.
And if they follow us, thenwe'll know something is wrong.
Jared (50:48):
That's true.
I guess we weren't re wh whydid we come here in the first
place, I guess, is the bigquestion.
We came here because we wantedto make sure they were safe,
right?
That was kind of like them andthey're not hostile, so Okay.
Gordon (51:02):
Uh they see.
I came for spice.
I know, I have to do that.
Jared (51:06):
We're not a security
check when we get back.
Yeah, oh, we're not gonna lendour dogs.
Also, why would they need dogsto heat up things?
All right.
Wylie (51:17):
Uh I'm gonna be like,
alright, we have decided.
So you turn around and facethem?
Yep.
Okay.
Um so you did hear like somefootsteps and shuffling.
And so some of the Duergar havewalked along on their side of
the creek, but they have walkedum further um back up north,
back upstream.
Um, but she's still standingthere with about with three
(51:38):
others around her, and like,
Eira Gwyn (51:39):
so do you think you
can help us?
Jared (51:41):
Um, well, unfortunately,
we don't have a mechanic with us
at this moment.
Um, so we are gonna uh we werejust uh double checking, making
sure everything is safe here.
Is everything okay?
No, and
Pyra (51:53):
Pyro goes, but i told you
I can throw in the heat.
Mimir (51:56):
Shut up, Pyra! Shut up,
Pyra.
I put my hand over the necklike and I'm yelling at the
Pyra.
Pyra (52:04):
I was like, that's pretty
rude.
And she's she's she kind oflike stalks away from you.
Like she's just like, I'm justtrying to help.
And so she she starts walkingback upstream herself on your
guys' side.
She's like, Oh god, telling meto shut up.
I'll tell him to shut up.
I'll shut up this whole tunnel.
Jared (52:21):
Oh no, she's gonna trap
us in here.
Wylie (52:24):
You know, she has a fiery
temper.
Uh-huh.
Jared (52:27):
All right.
Wylie (52:28):
Um she goes and leans
against the cavern wall and
she's sitting there likeflicking flame in her hand,
almost like a zippo lighter, just sitting there, like waiting
and kind of glaring at you withfire in her eyes.
Jared (52:40):
This is a normal
reaction.
Every single time I tell hershe can't blow up the base, this
is how she goes and sulks.
Yeah, yeah.
Um never blows up anythingthough, hopefully.
Um I'm gonna be like, um,unfortunately, uh, with the
resources that we have, and I dolike the full like I'm pulling
out the handbook of saying no asin a very professional email.
(53:03):
Um the resources that we havecurrently, um, we're unable to
uh provide uh assistance, but uhwe uh wish you the best luck
and uh sincerely uh JaredVernstworth, uh security guard
head security guard of uh ourresearch station clothes.
Wylie (53:22):
Um she there's a space
right in front of you guys where
the river can be crossed, thestream can be crossed, and so
she starts to walk towards you,not in any kind of threatening
way, but just like
Eira Gwyn (53:31):
oh you can't help an
old woman.
This man seems very smart, andshe points to Alan and she's
like, I would love to discusssome research projects with you.
Alan (53:41):
Uh we're we're we're kind
of short on time, so maybe you
could come visit us at our base.
Uh oh,
Eira Gwyn (53:51):
that would be lovely.
Jared (53:54):
What are you doing?
Eira Gwyn (53:58):
Per perhaps you could
take one or two of us with you
now.
We should find the body of poorAggro and what has happened to
him.
Gordon (54:07):
My vote is buddy.
How about buddy?
Jared (54:09):
Right.
We will take buddy and oneother randomly selected
individual.
Wylie (54:17):
Uh and uh You do you do
recall that your sleds can only
carry four people, so you wouldhave to leave somebody behind.
Jared (54:25):
Yeah, that's not
happening.
Um I'll be like, uh,unfortunately, and I'd pull up
the book again.
Our resources go to well forthat uh circumstance, but I do
appreciate the offer.
Uh you guys can come and visitwhen the storm is over.
Brad (54:40):
He sounds like the
apparently kid.
Apparently, yeah.
Jared (54:44):
Unfortunately.
Could you at least help us getthe heat back on while we wait?
We'd we'd like to get back toour beds and start putting
things to rights, and some ofour research will suffer if
we're down here the whole time.
Uh how much time until
the storm hits?
Wylie (55:00):
Um so I'd say you've been
in the cavern thirty minutes,
so you've got about thirty moreminutes to get back up and get
back to your dogs and handlethat's a good question.
Brad (55:07):
How about Pyro?
She can she can warm things upvery quickly.
Yeah.
Jared (55:11):
Um we can um Pyra will
help you, but you only have we
only have 15 more minutes untilwe uh can do that.
So uh why don't you come upwith us?
Uh the rest of you guys cankeep digging and do doing what
uh Buddy can also come if hewants to.
Um and wait until I hearBuddy's voice.
Wylie (55:36):
So Eria Gwyn um says,
Eira Gwyn (55:39):
Okay, we'll come on
up with you.
Wylie (55:41):
And they start her and
the three Dwegar that with her
start to cross, and the otherDwegar um that were kind of
parallel, um, they're movingforward to where there's a
little tiny bridge up a highkind of when you're where Pyra
is standing.
Jared (55:53):
Okay.
Um I'm gonna feel like you'rejust flanking us.
Yeah.
Yeah, this feels this feelsvery trappy like.
Wylie (56:04):
Um I'm gonna put
individual icons on the map for
them.
Jared (56:07):
Uh why would you do that?
We're just going upstairs.
That's crazy.
Unknown (56:12):
They we don't mean
that.
Wylie (56:15):
Just to give you an idea
of the actual locations of uh
this little lady in all six.
Oh, here's Buddy.
Mimir (56:21):
Dwarven insight is pretty
good.
Hold on.
Can you blow up Buddy a secondfor me?
Wylie (56:26):
He's not actually that
unique looking.
Okay.
Jared (56:29):
Buddy sick, bro.
Uh just for everybody else.
Gordon (56:33):
Oh my gosh.
Jared (56:34):
Buddy's a ripped
Duergar, and he has six next to
him, and he has thissweet-looking pickaxe with like
mechanical things on him with acrystal that's over lighting
him.
Like, it looks cool.
Wylie (56:46):
Um I put um numbers on
all of the dwarfs so I could
keep track of them.
unknown (56:51):
So why would you do
that?
Jared (56:54):
Why would you do that?
Um, where can I, if they wantto see these pictures, where can
they see these pictures at?
Wylie (57:01):
Um, listeners, if you
would like to see these pictures
too, um, you can go to ourPatreon and we will be sharing
these images on our Patreon.
Um our Patreon will have fullepisodes without ads for $5 a
month, as well as our characterart and our maps and bonus
episodes that will not bereleased in the main feed.
Um, some fun behind the scenesepisodes.
(57:23):
So after we finish thisrecording, we're going to be
chatting about this one-shotcampaign, um, some DM secrets
that might still be in play, aswell as um the players'
impressions of the campaign.
So we'll be doing that chatepisode, behind the scenes
episode afterwards, and you canaccess all of that on our
Patreon.
Um so if you are feeling leftout not being able to see Jerry
(57:45):
or Buddy um or these coolcaverns that we have or anything
like that, you can access allof that um with a Patreon
subscription.
And so here's Muddy and oh,here's Stanky.
Kipo (57:58):
Where is Jerry?
Wylie (57:59):
Um, Jerry is in the
backpack, and um you put him in
the Ziploc bag.
Kipo (58:05):
Right.
Gordon (58:05):
Mm-hmm.
Oh, okay.
Wylie (58:06):
In the backpack.
Um, but can you give me aperception check?
Okay.
Jared (58:12):
But Jerry's on my head.
Mimir (58:15):
Jerry has my crossbow
somehow.
Wylie (58:19):
Jerry's on the side of
the head.
Jared (58:20):
He has a cut to my head.
Kipo (58:23):
All right, that's re-roll.
Yeah, it's tilted.
Oh cocked.
unknown (58:27):
Oh, dang.
Yeah, yeah, that was fine.
I've got a 10.
Nice, nice.
No, that's great.
Wylie (58:35):
Okay.
Um you're just thinking aboutJerry.
Gordon (58:43):
Oh, Jerry.
Wylie (58:45):
You're wondering you're
wondering if Buddy has seen
Jerry before.
Yeah.
Gordon (58:49):
Oh no.
Hey, hey Buddy, do you knowJerry?
Wylie (58:52):
Have you seen Jerry?
Uh and Buddy's almost acrossthe river from you.
And uh
Buddy (58:58):
he's like, who's Jerry?
Gordon (59:00):
Jerry, little mushroom
squid guy.
Buddy (59:03):
Oh yeah, there's lots of
mushrooms.
Gordon (59:07):
But but do you know
Jerry?
Buddy (59:10):
They have not told me
their names.
Brad (59:12):
Oh, maybe you've met Jetty
then.
Wylie (59:15):
Okay, so um Eria is
coming towards you across and
saying, Alright, we'll we'llwe'll come on up with you, and
you'll help us get the heat backon.
Y ep, that's what we're gonnado.
Um, here we go.
Uh yeah, we start moving thatdirection.
Okay.
And so her and the threeduergar with her are are
(59:36):
crossing the river.
Kipo (59:38):
And um Alan does not like
the idea of climbing on a ladder
up.
Down was fine.
But he doesn't want to go up.
So he uh casts spider climb onhimself.
Wow.
Nice so he can just walk up.
Wylie (59:58):
So I imagine he does.
Doesn't climb like a spider.
He just keeps walking to theside of the side.
Well, that's it.
Kipo (01:00:04):
Yeah, on two feet, you can
just walk up the side.
Yeah.
Wylie (01:00:07):
So he just continues
walking, maybe hands in his
pockets.
Kipo (01:00:10):
Yeah.
Wylie (01:00:10):
And just starts, and this
we haven't quite gotten to the
ladder yet.
So does he start doing it onthe side of the cavern?
Kipo (01:00:16):
As soon as there's the
opening going upwards.
Yes.
It starts going up.
Wylie (01:00:21):
Okay.
And so Eria is very impressedby this.
Eira Gwyn (01:00:24):
And she says, Wow,
look at you go.
You are a very powerful wizard.
Kipo (01:00:33):
Um Alan kind of just
mumbles to himself.
He's like, it's just a secondlevel spell.
Jared (01:00:39):
I'm gonna I'm gonna be
like, somebody's getting on all
the fancers over here.
Wylie (01:00:55):
Um okay, so I assume
Jared (01:00:57):
Yeah, we're gonna keep
walking.
Uh I'll I'll leave the back.
I'm just gonna can I um nowthat I'm closer, I'm gonna I'm
gonna see if there's anyinfection or anything.
Okay.
Like if there's somethingthat's like like messed up.
Wylie (01:01:10):
Mm-hmm.
Um, and so what kind of checkare you gonna do?
Jared (01:01:13):
Uh I mean I guess that
would be medicine.
Medicine.
Let me do investigation.
I would love that.
Wylie (01:01:18):
I'll let you do medicine
or nature.
If you do investigation, Imight give you a different type
of information, but you can domedicine or nature.
Jared (01:01:26):
I don't know what that
different kind of information.
Now that makes sense.
Um okay, I'll do medicine.
Uh right.
I shouldn't have done medicine.
Uh, that's an eight.
Wylie (01:01:36):
Yeah.
I mean, you don't know thatmuch about sickness.
They they are acting weird.
And you know that people backhome are acting weird because of
the arcanium sickness.
Jared (01:01:45):
Yeah.
So it's that's not a problemhere.
Wylie (01:01:48):
Uh that you know of.
You know, you don't know what'sgoing on in their base for
sure.
Jared (01:01:51):
Yeah, I'm so nervous.
Wylie (01:01:54):
You could ask her more
information about what was going
on.
Jared (01:01:57):
Yeah, Mimir is so like
Mimir is like so this is all
bad.
This is all bad in Mimir'sbrain.
It's like tingling all of theDD.
We're in a trap, we're about toget killed situation.
So but um I'm gonna be like uhdo you have a security guard of
(01:02:17):
your own, or was that is thatnot something that you guys have
to worry about?
Eira Gwyn (01:02:21):
Security?
Um, we're not very concernedwith security out here in the
middle of the wilderness.
No one has come to our basebefore until you.
Jared (01:02:30):
Oh, well, you know, you
should really work on security
measures.
I can leave like a safetypamphlet.
I have four of them.
Four copies.
I brought four copies becauseuh each of them I give them to
them, but then they never takethem.
So um so here's a safety copyof the the booklet, and then if
(01:02:51):
you need some extra forms uh forlike I I know you have a spill
and things like that.
Um so here's some extra forms.
Wylie (01:02:59):
You hand her a pamphlet.
Yeah.
Okay, and so she reaches out totake it, and um her hand
touches yours and it feels kindof sticky.
Jared (01:03:05):
Uh okay.
Mimir (01:03:09):
Cool.
Cool, cool, cool, cool.
Alan (01:03:14):
What'd you say about
stinky?
Mimir (01:03:17):
I'm gonna be like, uh
sick.tight.tight.tight.
Wylie (01:03:23):
Um the other the other
Duergar are coming around you
too to take pamphlets from you.
Jared (01:03:29):
Oh, great.
So everybody keeps a pamphlet.
Uh I I I have four of them, soI'd love I'll just give them all
a pamphlet.
Uh pamphlets for everybody.
Okay.
And here's some uh informationon uh emergency situations.
(01:03:50):
Um zombie apocalypse.
Wylie (01:03:53):
Are you just uh standing
in one place?
Is Alan continuing to walkalong the wall?
Jared (01:03:58):
I shouldn't be standing.
Yeah, I'm I'm uh this is myfavorite part of my job.
Uh any fill uh filling outyeah, f filling out information
and stuff.
So I'm doomed, guys.
It's there.
Kipo (01:04:10):
Uh if he stopped, then
Alan stopped.
Jared (01:04:12):
Okay.
Okay.
Wylie (01:04:13):
Alan stopped.
Kipo (01:04:13):
I wanted us to stick
together and leave first.
Okay.
Before them.
Wylie (01:04:18):
So as you come as you
come past Pyra, she's kind of
still sulking, you know, againstthe wall.
Would you encourage her to moveforward with you, or do you
just ignore her and keep going?
Like, you're not act activelymoving right now.
I'd say you stopped about wherePyra is and Gordon.
Kipo (01:04:33):
Um, if she's there and
Jared is just handing out stuff,
then yeah, I'm gonna stop justnext to her, not not talk to
her.
Actually, he'll say, um, howhe's like whispering.
He does not want anybody tohear this.
Alan (01:04:51):
How much more of that
visky do you have?
Pyra (01:04:56):
Oh, you want another
drink?
Alan (01:04:57):
Maybe, maybe in the sled.
Kipo (01:04:59):
And then he like gets all
excited.
Mimir (01:05:02):
That's the cutest thing
ever.
Pyra (01:05:06):
She's like, Yes, um, it's
a bit warm you up for the ride
back.
I'll get you some more.
We I have to.
Wylie (01:05:16):
He doesn't take it.
Um and so Gordon, you werestanding kind of right at the
bridge.
Yep.
And so um are you gonnacontinue standing there?
What are you gonna do?
Brad (01:05:27):
Yeah, so I I think Gordon,
like, although not like I think
because Gordon is such a bigguy, he's not as kind of
fearful, right?
He's just kind of like chill.
But he also previous in aprevious life, he's also kind of
standing there just to blockaway.
Mm-hmm.
Right?
Um Yeah, for someone not tocross.
Wylie (01:05:51):
So his instincts, he's
not combatant anymore.
Brad (01:05:55):
No.
Wylie (01:05:55):
Um he uses his cooking to
soothe his rage.
Gordon (01:05:58):
Correct, correct.
Wylie (01:05:59):
But um he's he he just
has those instincts still, that
protector instinct, and so he'sstanding in front of the bridge,
and he's you're gonnaessentially stay there until the
rest of your party passes.
Okay.
Okay.
Um and so you guys have saidyou're gonna help them turn back
on the heat.
Yeah.
Are you being honest or are youdeceiving them?
Jared (01:06:19):
Uh I mean, we only have
15 minutes.
Uh so I gave us a deadline toturn on the heat.
Yeah.
Um, if it's any more than that, then we have to we have to
leave.
Wylie (01:06:27):
But you are planning to
help them as well.
Jared (01:06:29):
Yeah, I mean, yeah, we
were planning to be honest about
it.
Um I just figured Pyra's justgonna blow it.
Yeah, that's what I also wasgonna I was just gonna be like
pir like basically um after I'mdone with my full speech, um,
and was like, so and that'ssector three, uh, verse 83.
Uh I read the whole pamphlet bynow, uh, which probably have
(01:06:50):
taken probably a minute or twoto do.
I'm a pretty fast reader.
Um, but um, and then I'll belike, all right, Pyra um is
going to help us turn on theheat.
Wylie (01:06:59):
Um and and she really
glares at you because you told
her to shut up when she offeredthat earlier.
Jared (01:07:03):
And I'll be like, you
were right, and I'm sorry, Pyra.
Pyra (01:07:06):
She's like, thank you for
your apology.
I accept.
Jared (01:07:10):
Hey, security, security
knows when to to apologize.
That's rule number 18.
Um and I will continue walking.
Um, and I'm gonna be uh I'llgive it like a nod to RamShield.
I'll be like, there's somethinga little suspicious kind of
nod.
Um and then I like do like uhsecurity sign signals, but no.
(01:07:35):
We don't know.
Whenever it came to the classthat I did of like, hey, let's
all stick into a group and likefly together like uh the uh bird
doing hands club and handsclub.
Um and so I'm gonna continuewalking.
Um and I will be last out ofthe whole group.
Okay, um, even though RamShieldtechnically would be the best
(01:07:57):
to be last, but I will be lastbecause I'm the security guard
at taking care of my delega job.
Yeah, exactly.
Wylie (01:08:04):
Okay.
Um so now that Pyra knows thatshe's gonna turn the heat back
on, she continues.
So I think she might be leadingthe way.
Yep, that sounds good.
Um, and so she's gonna go allthe way up to the ladder.
And Alan is following along thewalls, walking very confidently
with his hands in his pockets.
And so they go up the ladder, start going up the ladder.
Brad (01:08:24):
I would say I would
probably wait till like he would
probably have to give me anudge.
Like, hey, you go ahead.
I'll tap your I'll tap yourshoulder.
Yeah.
Jared (01:08:32):
Okay.
Cool.
Wylie (01:08:33):
All right, and so they
all are following you or in an
orderly manner.
Um taking their turns.
Jared (01:08:40):
Does she have any
weapons?
Are any of them armed withanything that's uh weapon?
Wylie (01:08:45):
They have tools that
could definitely be.
Jared (01:08:47):
Just the pickaxes.
That's all tools, though.
They were down here for areason.
Um so that's great.
Gordon (01:08:52):
Yeah.
That's great.
Jared (01:08:53):
So that's great.
That's that's that's great andall.
Yeah, that's great and all.
unknown (01:08:57):
Okay.
Jared (01:08:57):
Um, can I see if uh
what's his name?
I I don't know.
The squid, the squid guy in RamShields, yeah.
Jerry?
Jerry.
Yeah, I I refuse to call himJerry.
I can't name him because if Ikill him, I'm gonna feel guilty.
Um so uh I'm gonna uh J Dog.
(01:09:18):
Uh I'm gonna look and see ifhe's escaped or if he's still in
the back.
Wylie (01:09:22):
Okay.
Um so you I I assume you'relooking into the basket.
Yes.
Okay.
Jared (01:09:26):
As I walk past him, put
my hand on his shoulder and I'll
like pee, I'll climb up alittle bit, yeah, and look in.
Wylie (01:09:33):
Um okay.
Um so you don't even have toget your head over the basket.
You can see that Jerry hasgotten out of the plastic bag
because it's plastic.
Gordon (01:09:41):
Yeah.
Dang it.
Wylie (01:09:44):
And a wicker basket is
really easy for an octopus to
climb.
I mean, they can climb almostlike pure glass.
So that you can see that he'snow um at the top of the basket
and climbing onto Gordon'sshoulder.
Oh, cool.
Jared (01:09:55):
Um I I just assume that
that is what he allowed because
uh I I figured that's it's hispet now.
Wylie (01:10:04):
And and Gordon didn't
observe this earlier that it was
happening.
No, I didn't.
He doesn't know.
Um, but at this point, Jerryhas made it up like onto his
shoulder.
Cool, Millie.
No.
Jared (01:10:13):
Well, you're uh you're
getting real familiar with your
squid.
Brad (01:10:17):
Who, Jerry?
Jared (01:10:18):
Yeah, turn to your right,
man.
Brad (01:10:20):
He turns to his left.
Oh, oh.
Gordon (01:10:25):
Oh, hello, Jerry.
How'd you get out of your bag?
Wylie (01:10:28):
Uh when you turn to your
right, um Jerry's sitting on
your shoulder and ri he raises alittle tentacle and and puts it
on your cheek.
And it kind of goes, um, likewhen the individual little
suction's like boop, boop, boop,boop.
Unknown (01:10:40):
Uh-huh.
Wylie (01:10:41):
So he's kind of like he's
kind of pulling at your face,
just not not aggressively, butjust kind of like feeling
Mimir (01:10:47):
creepy and adorable at
the same time.
Wylie (01:10:52):
So he's just kind of
feeling he's he hasn't felt your
face before.
You know, you don't know if thething has eyes or or how it
detects its environment, so it'skind of um experimenting with
the with the skin of your faceand kind of, you know, it's on
your shoulder right now.
Brad (01:11:06):
Um is there any way I can
like just kind of maybe more
perceiving more about Jerry?
Wylie (01:11:13):
Sure.
What what kind of a check doyou want to make and what are
you looking for?
You want to do perceptioncheck?
Brad (01:11:17):
Um, is there anything I
notice about Jerry?
Like I I know you've mentionedlike it's nothing like, you
know, do I feel differently oranything like that?
Wylie (01:11:26):
So it's more about
yourself.
Right.
Like how you feel.
Brad (01:11:29):
How I feel.
Wylie (01:11:29):
Um no, you don't feel
different right now.
Mimir (01:11:31):
Okay.
"Right now" is crazy.
Saying "right now" is insane.
Wylie (01:11:35):
I mean, you ate some
weird jelly.
Brad (01:11:37):
That's true.
Wylie (01:11:38):
So aside from some tummy
rumblings, you seem to be doing
pretty good.
Brad (01:11:43):
I need to go out very
quick.
Um, we head up the ladder.
Wylie (01:11:52):
All right.
Let's load our base.
Istid Jokul.
Mimir (01:11:57):
Man, I am not comfortable
right now.
There's so many enemies behindus, and I don't know that
they're enemies.
Oh no.
Oh, that's where we go.
Brad (01:12:08):
I'm starting to realize
something.
Mimir (01:12:09):
What are you realizing?
No, share with the class.
Wylie (01:12:12):
Well, would Gordon
realize this?
Brad (01:12:14):
Or Brad is realizing this.
I have a feeling as soon as wecome up into the cold, Jerry's
just gonna lose it and likeattack my face.
Mimir (01:12:26):
Oh, see, I thought it was
like the oh but
Brad (01:12:29):
that's why everything's
been that's why everything's
been cold.
That's why the old lady isasking to to uh to turn on the
heat.
Mimir (01:12:37):
Oh, I'm so interested.
Can I make a check real quick?
Mm-hmm.
Wylie (01:12:41):
As you go as you're going
up the ladder.
Jared (01:12:43):
Yeah, just like a memory
check.
In the photos with everybody,is there any like dwarf?
Because there was a likebootprint cut out of the ice
room.
Correct?
Um, is there any uh personthat's missing from the photo
that is in this group?
Wylie (01:13:01):
Okay.
Jared (01:13:02):
Like, is there any extra
person?
Wylie (01:13:04):
Any new people, okay.
Jared (01:13:05):
Yeah, um, so she said
they haven't had visitors in a
while.
So there's like some tingling,tinglings.
Wylie (01:13:12):
Okay.
Um, yeah, why don't you I kindof check what makes sense?
Jared (01:13:16):
Like a history?
Wylie (01:13:17):
Yeah, history would make
a lot of sense.
Jared (01:13:18):
To remember the photo.
A stealth check?
No, I'm scared.
Mimir (01:13:25):
Okay.
Jared (01:13:26):
Twelve, I have to say it
confidently.
Wylie (01:13:28):
Twelve.
So I'll just review what youobserved.
And um, so when you found theice block that was in their lab,
the lab was um atemperature-controlled room that
they could turn off the heat orturn off the cold, separate
from the whole rest of the base.
And they clearly had it set tocold, and they had a great big
ice block in the center, andthat ice block was greenish, and
(01:13:51):
there was a large carving cutout of the middle.
Mimir (01:13:54):
Yeah.
Wylie (01:13:55):
Um, but what remained was
a boot that still had a foot in
it because there was an anklebone.
But you didn't tell sticking.
Mimir (01:14:05):
Yeah.
Wylie (01:14:06):
So I think you're the
only one who observed this
because at that time Pira andGordon were in a different part
of the base.
Jared (01:14:10):
They never came up.
And the reason I told them tomeet 'em, uh meet us around, so
they wouldn't see that.
Okay.
So there, but is there any newperson that I see or think of?
Wylie (01:14:20):
Um from what you recall,
it seems like I mean, they all
kind of look very similar.
Yeah.
But they it all it's allDuergar.
Yep.
So there's not any otherspecies.
Mimir (01:14:28):
Just numbers-wise,
though.
Wylie (01:14:30):
Um, and so there's six.
Okay.
And um she she is with the sixDwaregar, and then there would
have been one more because youguys met Aggro.
Yeah.
So there was a total of seven, which means that there's eight
at their base, um, which is thesame number that you guys have
at your base.
Um, I wouldn't say that that'sreally a high enough for you to
be able to tell if there's oneextra person with with only a
(01:14:51):
12.
Um, but you know that, hey, there should be eight people
here at this base.
Like that seems to kind of makesense um because we have eight
people at our base, because thathas to do with um a plane
shifter and how many people theycan transport at one time.
Um and so that logically ummakes sense for your base as
well as their base.
Jared (01:15:09):
Um I'm gonna saddle up
next to Buddy.
I'm gonna be like, hey, hey, buddy, come to me straight real
quick.
Uh just whispering just toBuddy if I can get him just
alone.
Wylie (01:15:19):
Uh you guys are c um are
you climbing the ladder yet or
not yet?
Jared (01:15:22):
Yeah, we're all the way
up.
Wylie (01:15:23):
Okay, so you guys are up
in the circular room.
Okay, and then the utility roomis the one that's to the right.
And so I assume Pyra's gonnahead towards the utility room
and turn on the heat.
And um the rest of them are aregathering.
This room around the tunnel isfairly warm because it comes up,
so it's it's more comfortablefor them.
So we've got hang on, I need topull them all out of the
(01:15:43):
tunnel.
Jared (01:15:45):
What happens if they go
in through i buddy muddy?
Wylie (01:15:48):
And why are all the
windows broken?
Stanky Buddy Muddy, stankybumble.
Mimir (01:15:56):
Great names, by the way.
Wylie (01:15:57):
Thank you.
Cranky.
unknown (01:16:00):
Cranky.
Wylie (01:16:01):
Cranky stanky.
Um, and stumble.
There we go.
Alright.
And get them all situated herearound the tunnel.
Um, and so you're trying totalk to Buddy.
Jared (01:16:14):
Yeah, move I'll move
myself up to next to Buddy here.
Okay.
Alright, over here.
Yeah, I think he's number six.
Right in between all of them.
Which is great.
Uh, because they're all friendsand we're all we're all loving
each other.
And we're like, well, Buddy isgood to trust.
Yeah, that's why I'm talking toBuddy.
I'm trusting your instinct onthe side.
Wylie (01:16:32):
Um no one has done any
insight check on Buddy.
Nope, buddy doesn't need to.
He doesn't look any moretrustworthy than anyone else.
Jared (01:16:38):
Well, in our hearts, he
does.
Um and I'll be like, Buddy, cutto me straight here.
Um, is there and I'm whisperingjust to Buddy.
What's with the ankle bone inthe ice room?
Um and I'll make an insightcheck as I ask that to see if he
has any facial uh expressions.
Wylie (01:16:58):
Okay.
Yeah, let me know that insightcheck.
Jared (01:16:59):
And if he attacks me,
he's gonna go.
Um well I rolled a four, but Ihave uh a plus ten to that, so
fourteen.
Wylie (01:17:10):
Fourteen, nice.
That is a big recovery for thatfour.
Jared (01:17:13):
Yep.
Wylie (01:17:14):
Um so as you remember, um
Eria got this kind of like
confused expression, and so hehe he kind of like goes a little
blank for a second.
And you asked him as Yeah, what's with the ankle?
What's with the ankle bone?
Jared (01:17:29):
In in the ice room.
Buddy (01:17:31):
And um he goes, Oh yes,
uh some von was stuck in the
block.
Who it was good uh Aggro.
Jared (01:17:45):
Aggro had both of his
ankle bones, though.
He was missing an arm, but itwas an ankle bone.
Wylie (01:17:51):
Um and Eria steps forward
and she's like,
Eira Gwyn (01:17:56):
We healed uh Stanky.
It was Stanky, and he's beenhealed now, so his foot is much
better.
And you can roll insight checkon that if you're Oh yeah, a
hundred percent.
Jared (01:18:07):
They just said two
different names.
Uh that's another 14.
Wylie (01:18:10):
14.
Um so I guess you can look andsee if Stanky looks healed.
Jared (01:18:16):
Um, I'll be like, uh
yeah, I'll make a perception
check uh and see.
Just not like going up to him,but I'll make a perception check
to see if there's anythingsuspicious over there.
Oh, that is an insane amount.
Um oh boy.
Uh that's a 25.
Wylie (01:18:35):
25.
Such a good roll.
Okay, so um at this time you dohear the heat kick back on.
And um, so it's still gonna bea bit cold because the windows
are crashed open in some of therooms, but um, it sounds like
power got that going, so yourperception check picks up on
that.
Okay, heater's going.
Um but you look over at Snakey, and um, he has two feet.
Mimir (01:18:56):
Yep.
Wylie (01:18:57):
Um, and with that super
high 25, yeah, um, his right
foot, it's it looks like an AIfoot.
You know how AI doesn't reallyknow what hands and feet totally
look like, and they always comeout a little funky.
Jared (01:19:10):
Oh.
Wylie (01:19:11):
Um, it just has a weird
vibe.
Mimir (01:19:13):
Like you're just like Is
this an like are they under an
illusion?
Can I make an Arcana check?
Sick.
Uh that's 14.
Wylie (01:19:24):
Um, it there's no
illusion.
Okay.
It looks like there's a realfoot there, but it definitely
doesn't look like a normal foot.
Jared (01:19:33):
What do you mean by uh
nor like is it squid like?
Wylie (01:19:37):
There's there's no
tentacles.
I mean he is wearing shoes.
Yeah, but it kind of like youcan tell that with that high um
perception be perception, youcan tell that it it looks off.
Like it's maybe too big, justlike too mis like misshapen,
maybe as if somebody pretendpotentially had a deformity or
something.
(01:19:58):
Um it doesn't look like perhapsit's healed correctly all the
way.
Jared (01:20:03):
But it does seem like
that was the individual that
was.
Wylie (01:20:07):
It does seem like Stanky
lost a foot.
Jared (01:20:10):
Okay.
Um well then everything whathappened why was he in the ice
block?
Eira Gwyn (01:20:16):
Um it is it's
actually not a block of ice.
Oh it is a gelatinous cube thathas been frozen.
Oh and when we find thatworking with these giant cubes
that are so full of acid, youknow, acid.
Very good.
Yeah, that makes sense.
It's not safe.
(01:20:37):
Super bad.
Alan (01:20:38):
How's your stomach
feeling, Gordon?
Brad (01:20:42):
Am I feeling anything
different as the heat kicks on?
Oh no.
Wylie (01:20:47):
No, but um Jerry, who
would when it was cold and you
guys first came out, he was alittle more like curled into
your neck.
Um but now he's he's kind oflike coming up and he's like
playing with your ear and likesome of his tentacles are coming
onto your face a little bit.
I assume you kind of brush himback like onto your shoulder.
Brad (01:21:06):
I would I would probably
put him back on my shoulder.
Wylie (01:21:08):
But he's getting really
comfortable with you.
Brad (01:21:10):
Oh no.
Wylie (01:21:13):
Um and so Eria continues
to say, um,
Eira Gwyn (01:21:16):
that um large uh uh
cube that we found in the ice,
um, as you know, you can see thegreenish color to it.
Um very dangerous.
And we had an unfortunateaccident where s where Stanky
did come into contact with withit.
But we um have discovered thatif you freeze it, if you keep it
at the cold temperatures, it'smuch easier to work with.
Jared (01:21:38):
Oh, okay.
Well that's great.
I'm glad we're keeping thatroom cold in every other room.
It's great.
Uh I'm not sure.
Eira Gwyn (01:21:43):
We would recommend
it.
Yeah please don't turn on theheat in that room.
Jared (01:21:46):
Yeah, we won't.
Uh I'm gonna pat her on theshoulder and like, you're you're
doing a great job.
Um and then I would like to umis there anything like a journal
or anything on her or anythinglike that?
I want to see if I can pick herpockets.
Wylie (01:22:00):
Oh, pick her pockets.
Jared (01:22:02):
Yeah, I just feel like
there's something more going on
than that.
They have good cover stories, but yeah.
Wylie (01:22:08):
Okay.
Um yeah, why don't you give mea sleight of hand?
Jared (01:22:11):
Cool.
13.
Wylie (01:22:15):
Um, you you don't
necessarily do a particularly
bad job, but she doesn't haveanything in her pockets.
Uh as I like uh you maybe feelwhat seems like maybe like a
pen.
You don't really detectanything that's super unique.
It just kind of seems like whata researcher would normally
have in their clothes.
Brad (01:22:31):
So Would uh would Gordon
happen to notice, I guess if I
did a perception check of the ohsword I'm looking for how Jerry
has been acting is also liningup with how the other people
have been acting in the room.
Wylie (01:22:48):
Okay.
Um yeah, maybe Alien insight.
Brad (01:22:53):
Just like, hold on.
Why is he going crazy?
Why are they moving more?
Wylie (01:22:58):
Yeah, yeah.
Um I that could either be aninvestigation or nature or
insight.
You're you're kind of justtrying to understand if if
there's a correlation betweenall their behavior.
Brad (01:23:11):
Yeah, it honestly I could
do any of those.
Um we'll go with insight.
Wylie (01:23:18):
Okay.
Brad (01:23:18):
Okay.
Wylie (01:23:19):
That sounds good.
Brad (01:23:22):
Good role.
That's a 17.
Wylie (01:23:25):
17 total.
Yeah.
Um yeah, like d you haven'tobserved a lot, but they
everybody they all seemed happywhen it's warm and they all did
not like it when it was cold.
Um, I think that's kind of Imean that that was a good role,
but I think that's the most thatyou could really have observed
at this point.
Um, because like obviouslyJerry doesn't talk.
Gordon (01:23:47):
Correct.
Wylie (01:23:48):
Like, um you know and and
from your particular engagement
with all of them, that's that'skind of what you're getting.
Jared (01:23:56):
So I'll be like, all
right, since we've helped you uh
kick on the heat, uh we'regonna be taking off.
Uh very nice meeting you guys.
Uh we will return the body uhtomorrow.
Eira Gwyn (01:24:07):
Um Okay, so you
you'll come back with aggro
then.
Jared (01:24:10):
Yep, yep.
Return the body of aggro, yep.
Okay just uh clarifying, uh wewe apologize, um, but you know,
when you attack one of my staff,we have to defend ourselves.
Uh that's page five, by theway.
Eira Gwyn (01:24:26):
And she she looks
down at the pamphlet and and
says, Okay, okay, oh, okay.
Um well thank thank you foryour help.
Um do you think you could helpus board up some of the windows
before you go?
Jared (01:24:38):
Uh unfortunately we're
running out of time here.
Um, but uh we really appreciatethe and I have the pamphlet
back out.
A different uh like thesecurity pamphlet, but like we
really appreciate uh our time.
Uh and we would love uh if youwould rate our service one out
of ten.
Kipo (01:24:55):
Um Alan starts walking up
uh the side of the wall to go
towards the door and up andaround um it's Aria, Jared, and
whoever number six is.
Wylie (01:25:08):
So he's heading um this
way.
Kipo (01:25:11):
Yeah.
You couldn't feel like Buddy.
Okay.
Wylie (01:25:14):
Okay.
So he's moving past Buddy to
Kipo (01:25:17):
And just heading towards
the door because we're wrapping
up.
Wylie (01:25:19):
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
Kipo (01:25:20):
Yep.
Wylie (01:25:21):
Um and um I'm gonna say,
okay, so you're wrapping up,
heading out the door.
Okay.
Um, so where where doeseverybody go?
Jared (01:25:32):
Uh I'm just gonna wait
until Pyro gets back and uh just
kind of uh getting our surveydone.
Um because it none of thesurveys have ever meant filled
out because we don't have manyvisitors.
Um but I do uh want to say thatum we did park technically by
the kitchen.
So we have to walk.
Did we though?
Brad (01:25:51):
Because we parked and then
we walked around.
Wylie (01:25:54):
So yeah, you guys are
just outside this tunnel area.
Um so yeah, you guys can headon outside and load up.
Brad (01:26:01):
That's yeah, I would just
head that way and load.
Jared (01:26:03):
Thank you so much.
I really appreciate all of youguys.
Um and I appreciate uheverything that you guys have.
Uh hope everything is great.
Uh and uh have a good one.
Eira Gwyn (01:26:16):
Okay.
Um, so they are says uh thankyou so much for your help, and
and we do look forward to yourreturn, and um, we'll try to get
things a bit more fixed uparound here.
Thank you.
Yeah, no worries.
Wylie (01:26:29):
And um, so you guys head
on out.
Pyra comes back, and you guysall leave.
Jared (01:26:34):
Okay.
I'm gonna do one s uh finalinsight check.
Um yeah, I just want to do onefinal insight check, and they're
all humanoids.
That's basically the lastinsight check that I got for me.
Wylie (01:26:50):
Okay, so what do you mean
by they're all humanoids?
Jared (01:26:52):
Um, well, the goop was
coming off her hand.
Is there any more goop comingoff all of them?
Wylie (01:26:58):
Um so when you when you
took when you gave pamphlets to
all of them, they all had stickyhands.
Jared (01:27:06):
Man, I really don't want
to leave this mystery, but we
have to get back.
Um and I don't want to betrapped here with how much time
do we have?
Wylie (01:27:14):
Um I'd say you you guys
got about ten minutes.
Kipo (01:27:18):
Ten minutes?
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
Wylie (01:27:19):
For for the um so you it
was five hours until the storm
came.
It took one hour to to drivehere.
Right.
You've spent almost two hours, and so you have one hour.
So you could stretch that byanother hour.
But it's risky because if youdon't drive the sled dogs
correctly.
Um And I'm really bad at that.
Eira Gwyn (01:27:39):
And um Eria does say,
um, you know, there is a storm
on the way, and you'd be morethan welcome to stay here with
us and ride it out.
Mimir (01:27:49):
Beep Beep Beep Alarm
bells going off.
Wylie (01:27:53):
In your head.
Not in the actual base.
Kipo (01:27:58):
Um I want to do my thing,
but I can't communicate with you
because you're talking to them.
Jared (01:28:02):
Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna
look at the whole crew and see
if they want to do that.
Uh, because that's nottechnically my decision.
My decision to keep them safe.
So they don't feel safe outsidethe thing.
So I'll be like, uh let meconfer with my crew and we'll be
right back, all right?
Oh, uh I'm gonna close the doorso then we can talk privately.
Eira Gwyn (01:28:23):
Okay, and she's like,
lovely, um, I'll send Stanky to
the kitchen to start cooking.
We we love that.
Brad (01:28:30):
Um I'm gonna be like, what
do you guys think?
One one thing though, onething, one thing though.
Uh Gordon would recognize fromthe start at that moment that
Muddy was the chef, not Stanky.
Whoa!
Jared (01:28:46):
I mean, I'm just saying
you were paying attention, Brad.
Brad (01:28:51):
That's the one thing he
would notice.
He would notice that veryquickly.
Jared (01:28:57):
Um, so I close the door
and then I'll I'll talk to you
guys.
I didn't notice that.
That's really good.
Wylie (01:29:02):
Also, Gordon, as you step
outside, it's really cold now.
Yeah.
And so Jerry is not happy.
And Jerry, like, he's gettingeven closer into your face and
your neck, and his tentacles arereaching up towards your mouth.
Like, he looks like he'slooking for any warm place to
be.
He does not like the cold.
Jared (01:29:19):
And so he's um I wouldn't
take out my uh the fire dagger
that I have, um, and I'm gonnalook at you like, should I kill
this thing?
Brad (01:29:28):
Honestly, I think I'm
trying to think of what Gordon
would do in this moment becausehe would pick up on the like
that's not right, and not, youknow, that that's weird about
the stanky being sh you know, going to cook.
Jared (01:29:47):
Yeah.
Well, then the second time theymade a mistake.
Brad (01:29:50):
Right, right.
So he would probably pull Jerryoff of his of his face, off of
his neck.
Jared (01:29:57):
Okay, cool.
Wylie (01:29:59):
You make me a
strength roll.
Jared (01:30:00):
I will I uh I am also
going to uh if it doesn't work,
I'm gonna do something if that'sokay.
Brad (01:30:06):
He cuts my head off.
Jared (01:30:08):
I'd like to kill him.
Brad (01:30:10):
Sneak attack.
Surprise.
Oh no.
What is that?
Jared (01:30:14):
And uh How's the dice
treating over there?
Brad (01:30:16):
Not great.
Okay.
So that's an eight.
Wylie (01:30:19):
An eight.
He beat you.
You do not get Jerry off.
He is he's clinging to you.
Brad (01:30:24):
With the fur.
Okay.
Wylie (01:30:25):
Do you cut, um are you
aiming for like separating the
head from the tent, like the topmushroom part from the
tentacles?
Okay.
So you're not actually going upagainst Gordon's skin.
Jared (01:30:34):
Yeah, I don't want to go
up against Gordon's skin.
Um is this with advantage?
Because technically I'mflanking.
Yeah.
Wylie (01:30:43):
You you are so close to
him, he is locked in place.
I think if you grab the thebutton cap of the the top of the
and you slice, you don't evenreally you just have to let's
make a sleight of hand to makesure you don't hit Gordon.
Jared (01:30:55):
Cool coolie.
Wylie (01:30:56):
You're definitely gonna
cut the Jerry.
Jared (01:30:58):
Okay, we're good.
That was close to a two, by theway.
Uh but it is a uh twenty three.
Brad (01:31:05):
Gordon loses an ear.
Wylie (01:31:08):
So with a twenty-three,
you are easily able to sever the
mushroom top from thetentacles.
Um and so there are now, let'ssay, f um six separate tentacles
left kind of stuck to Gordon'sneck.
Jared (01:31:22):
I'm gonna try to peel
those off also.
Wylie (01:31:24):
Yeah, they are moving
individually.
Yep.
They are not stopping, they arecontinuing.
And now there's five of them.
Yeah.
And they're going towards hisears and his eyes and his mouth.
Jared (01:31:33):
Yeah, I'm gonna start.
Uh I'm gonna basically try tosteer them with the flame
because they don't like theheat, right?
Um they like the heat.
Wylie (01:31:42):
Um at this point, um
probably go towards the Yeah.
Jared (01:31:46):
Can I like put the dagger
up close and then have them
like slowly get off of thedagger?
Wylie (01:31:52):
Yeah, you could try that.
Jared (01:31:54):
Yeah.
Wylie (01:31:55):
Um I'm gonna roll to see
if they decide that the the Can
I make a deception check maybewith my knife?
Can I make a deception checkwith a knife?
No.
I'm gonna just do a luck check.
Jared (01:32:06):
Worth a try.
Wylie (01:32:07):
Um and so for your guys'
luck check, I rolled a Nat 20,
so it's convinced.
It just it's like it climbsit's like woo.
Yeah.
And it climbs on to the warm.
Um and when you cut off thetop, what did you do with the
top?
Jared (01:32:22):
Uh I threw it in the
snow.
Wylie (01:32:23):
Okay.
You threw it in the snow.
Jared (01:32:24):
Because cold is bad.
So I'm gonna like startflicking and then wipe them in
the snow one at a time.
Mm-hmm.
Wylie (01:32:30):
Okay.
Um so give me a dex track toget them off the s the knife.
Okay.
Jared (01:32:34):
Which will probably just
decks, side of hand, or decks?
Wylie (01:32:37):
Yeah, slide of hand is
good.
unknown (01:32:38):
Yes.
Jared (01:32:40):
Okay, never mind.
Uh I rolled a three, so eight.
Wylie (01:32:43):
Eight.
Um the you have a bunch oftentacles stuck to your knife.
Jared (01:32:46):
I'm gonna do like um I'm
gonna deactivate the flame and
just put it in the snow.
Wylie (01:32:51):
Okay.
Yep.
Jared (01:32:52):
I don't want it climbing
on me.
Wylie (01:32:53):
Just set the knife down
into the snow?
Jared (01:32:55):
Yep.
Okay.
And then pick it up.
Like, I'm basically trying tolike scoo scoop, yeah, scoop it
off, basically.
Okay.
Wylie (01:33:01):
Um the mushroom cap that
you cast away has now grown new
tentacles and is starting tolike flee.
Um, let's see.
You guys are outside.
So how far away do you thinkyou threw?
Probably you probably threw itlike 15 feet.
Mimir (01:33:14):
Yeah, as far away as
possible.
Because I think I I think thisis like a mind situation.
Like they're trying to like, orthey're getting like possessed
or something.
Sure.
That's kind of what I wasthinking.
Wylie (01:33:23):
The people.
Yeah, the people um, yeah, so15 feet away from you, like
let's probably say I'm gonnamove like right over here-ish.
Mimir (01:33:31):
Yeah.
Wylie (01:33:32):
Is probably kind of where
you threw it.
And so it's now kind ofclimbing around on the snow.
It looks like it's kind ofdesperately seeking heat of of
some form.
So um, I'm gonna also give it aD4 and um pick a number,
Gordon.
Brad (01:33:46):
Oh, come on, Gordon.
You got this.
Number one.
Nice.
Wylie (01:33:50):
Big It rolled a one.
So it is coming back in thedirection of you guys.
It's exactly.
Jared (01:33:56):
Gordon!
Kipo (01:33:56):
How quick.
Wylie (01:33:58):
Um, you know, it it's
probably as um it can go.
Kipo (01:34:03):
Can I see it?
Wylie (01:34:04):
You can see it.
Mm-hmm.
Kipo (01:34:05):
Okay.
Or shoot uh even as a withfirebolt.
Wylie (01:34:08):
Alan shoots a firebolt at
it.
Jared (01:34:12):
I'm still working on the
the squid tentacles, by the way.
Wylie (01:34:15):
Okay.
Jared (01:34:15):
One at a time.
Wylie (01:34:16):
Should we should we roll
innicitive?
Like, uh do you guys feel likewe'll we'll just keep going like
this until we I'm just sayingthat I'm busy, so I couldn't
attack it or anything.
Okay.
Brad (01:34:25):
So at this point, Gordon
would probably try to pull
tentacles off also.
Do you need me to roll forthat?
Wylie (01:34:33):
Um yeah, go ahead.
Jared (01:34:34):
And we'll give you that
bonus action.
Wylie (01:34:37):
Yeah, you can do strength
for that.
Or or decks, but I figuredstrength was better for you.
Jared (01:34:41):
And I have a b- I mean,
since I'm mastermind rouge, you
can have advantage because I'mbonus uh bonus action helping.
Brad (01:34:46):
Alright, the first one's
12.
And the other one is 11.
So we'll go with the 12.
Jared (01:34:52):
Uh, you do not beat him.
Oh my gosh.
Brad (01:34:56):
No, that's with the plus.
It was a 10 plus I think two.
Jared (01:35:00):
Wait, your athletics is
only two?
Brad (01:35:02):
No, that was strength.
Oh, okay.
It's plus two for strength.
Dang.
And no, hold on.
So this is and that's notsaving throws, right?
Wylie (01:35:11):
Um, not a not a saving
throw.
Brad (01:35:13):
Okay, cool.
Hopefully not.
Wylie (01:35:15):
Well, uh you I'll let you
do a saving throw, because I
mean you're trying to takeyourself save yourself
Brad (01:35:20):
If it was a saving throw,
then then that would be a 15.
Wylie (01:35:23):
It's still not high
enough.
Oh my gosh.
So it is.
He rolled Very good.
Um, so you do lightning bolt onthe mushroom cap?
Uh fire fire bolt.
Kipo (01:35:31):
Fire bolt, and I rolled an
11 to hit.
Wylie (01:35:34):
An eleven to hit.
Okay.
And is he um that's just a hitagainst like his ACs?
Okay.
Um, so you hit it and it kindof like tumbles over, um, but it
gets back up and continues tomove.
Kipo (01:35:53):
Okay.
I don't have to roll fordamage.
Jared (01:35:56):
Okay.
Um I I have a bonus action helpas a mastermind rogue, and then
action.
Can I do can I help uh peel offwith my action?
Wylie (01:36:08):
Yeah.
Cool.
So you're helping yourself?
Jared (01:36:10):
No, so I'm bonus action
helped him.
Okay.
He failed.
So I want to now do it myself.
Wylie (01:36:15):
You've got an action as
well.
Okay, gotcha.
Jared (01:36:17):
Um, and this is just a
strength check?
Wylie (01:36:20):
You yeah, you can do um,
because it's not happening to
you, so you can do a strengthcheck, but um Gordon can do
strength saves.
Jared (01:36:26):
Oh, natural 19, 21.
Okay.
I'm more f I'm more strong thanyou are more strong.
Wylie (01:36:33):
And so he rolled ver the
Jerry rolled very low.
So I'm gonna say that you'reable to get the rest of the
tentacles off, but they are inyour hands now.
Jared (01:36:41):
All right.
Uh and then I'm gonna tossthem.
I'm gonna toss them.
Or uh put them up against thedoor, right?
Or no, no, no, no.
Heat, heat, heat, wipe them.
Yeah.
Um, I'm just gonna I'm gonnasee if I can toss them,
basically.
Wylie (01:36:54):
Okay.
Um I think you're gonna have todo.
Jared (01:36:58):
Yeah, what do you want
from me?
What do you want from me, DM?
Wylie (01:37:04):
Yeah, they are.
Um Yeah, I think so.
What are you what are youactually doing to try to get
them off?
Jared (01:37:10):
You're like shaking your
hands or well, yeah.
I I don't know.
Um maybe um is the the fire isstill uh ignited on the sword.
Wylie (01:37:21):
Yeah, the fire's still on
the knife.
Jared (01:37:23):
Yeah, so I'll I'll put my
hands near the knife and
continue the trick basically oflike oh, this is a warm spot for
you guys to hang out.
Wylie (01:37:31):
Okay, so I'll let you do
a deception check for that.
Jared (01:37:34):
Great, great.
I have a minus one indeception, but it doesn't matter
when I rolled a natural one.
That's an unnatural zero, DM.
I actually for a small second,I was like, I'm trying to like
whip them off, but then I whipthem backwards onto my face.
I'm like, oh great, oh no! Ohguys, oh no, I'm accidentally
(01:37:58):
eating them.
Wylie (01:38:00):
Um at this point, the
door to the tunnel opens and um
Eira Gwyn (01:38:02):
Eria says, do you
need any help out there?
Jared (01:38:05):
Uh I have
squid all over my face oh
panicking, please.
Eira Gwyn (01:38:10):
Oh, come inside and
we'll help you when she opens
the door.
Jared (01:38:13):
I would not trust that.
Uh I'm panicking, so I I won'tdo anything until you guys do
something.
Because I already used my bonusaction action.
Wylie (01:38:22):
So if you remember you
just told them that you were
just gonna confer outside ifyou've got the opportunity to do
that yet.
Jared (01:38:29):
I'll be like, uh a couple
more minutes, please.
Just a couple more minutes.
Kipo (01:38:33):
How hard is it to um to
pull them off?
Um It's an athletics chart.
Wylie (01:38:41):
Athletics, yeah, but they
need it's been a strength, a
strength chart.
Uh strength.
So um I know a lot's beenhappening, so your firebolt
didn't do anything.
Unknown (01:38:50):
Right.
Wylie (01:38:51):
Um it you hit them, but
you d it definitely didn't they
didn't really react in anyparticular way to it.
Um they did not, you know, thethe knife was able to cut
through them, um, but it didn'tseem like they're fine.
They're, you know, still aliveand everything.
Jared (01:39:06):
Um, I'll just dunk my
head into snow.
Wylie (01:39:17):
Okay.
Jared (01:39:18):
Yeah.
I go, oh and then what is thatfilm?
Kipo (01:39:22):
Oh, that uh ice age when
he uh I was thinking um when the
dude's head's on fire in HomeAlone.
Jared (01:39:28):
Yes, that's what I was
thinking.
I I run around, I'm likepanicking, and then I go, oh and
I do a full like swan dive intothe snow uh and to try to get
him off.
Wylie (01:39:38):
Okay.
Um I'm gonna do a D4 to seewhich direction they go.
Jared (01:39:41):
Okay.
Wylie (01:39:42):
Um, because they it's
definitely cold around your
face.
Your face is still the warmestpart of the snow.
Um so it could drive them totry to get even closer to you,
or it could drive they couldjust flee in general.
Jared (01:39:53):
So this is like a a door
in critical rule trying to open
a door to try to get you rid ofsquids.
Wylie (01:40:01):
It's just cute little
mushrooms, guys.
It's just Jerry.
This is literally only Jerry.
It's Jerry.
So can you pick a numberbetween well, can you pick one
three?
Three, okay.
Rule to four.
So the squid they start torelease from your face.
Cool.
Um, there was a total of sixtentacles.
Cool.
So I'm gonna say four of themreleased from your face.
(01:40:23):
There's only two left.
Jared (01:40:24):
Okay, cool.
Wylie (01:40:25):
And so your face is is
still in the snow?
Jared (01:40:27):
Yeah, I mean I'll I'll
continue.
Okay.
Wylie (01:40:30):
Also, maybe you pull back
from the ones that you left,
and then would you plunge yourface back into the snow?
Okay.
So Jared Jared, go dove intothe snow, shoved his face in.
He gets up, you barrel roll afew rolls away, and then plunge
your face.
Plunge your face back into thesnow again.
Jared (01:40:50):
there was nothing in the
handbook about this!
Brad (01:40:52):
So does any of them come
off from that or are they still
on the face?
Jared (01:40:56):
I have two in on my face.
Wylie (01:40:57):
Two are remaining.
Brad (01:40:59):
Okay.
Gordon is gonna take his fryingpan that he has with him and
hit him in the face to hit theuh just to get rid of them.
Jared (01:41:10):
Okay.
Uh my AC's 13.
Wylie (01:41:12):
So Are you going to
resist?
Are you gonna let him hit?
Jared (01:41:15):
I mean, I I just pulled
my head and I'm wiping my face
off, so I I I'll take it.
I'll take the full hit.
Okay.
Wylie (01:41:24):
Um, you wouldn't exactly
know that because it depends
it's it's a living creature.
Right.
Oh, you want to use mage ham?
Right.
Um, so I'm doing strengthchecks.
So I don't know if your magehand can do a strength as your
uh mage ham's strength.
Brad (01:41:38):
Because that's 10 pounds.
Yeah, I've ro I've rolled over10 and it has not done anything.
Oh, okay.
Wylie (01:41:43):
It it because I am
rolling for the tentacles as
well.
unknown (01:41:46):
Yeah.
Wylie (01:41:46):
So there it's a it's it's
an opposed.
It's an opposed strength check.
So there was a time where itrolled a three and it got pulled
off, and there's but it's beenrolling pretty good.
Brad (01:41:55):
Okay, so um yeah.
Gordo's just gonna be like,well.
I will help you right now.
Wylie (01:42:03):
He said that you can hit
him, so all you have to do is
roll damage.
You don't even have to rolldamage damage.
Gordon (01:42:07):
Oh, roll damage?
Yeah.
Alright.
So I still roll.
Wait.
Just roll your frying pandamage, which would be Yeah.
Wylie (01:42:13):
So which object are you
using for your frying pan
damage?
Jared (01:42:16):
Is it?
Wylie (01:42:17):
I gave you a list of
different weapons.
Brad (01:42:20):
I I can't just use because
remember, what is it, tavern
brawl?
Wylie (01:42:22):
Oh yeah, you could you
could consider that an unarmed
um you have tavern brawler.
Jared (01:42:27):
Um so I believe it's a
one d4 for tavern brawler.
Wylie (01:42:32):
Yeah, it's one d4 plus
two.
Brad (01:42:34):
So one d4.
Hold on.
Oh, it's just a d4.
Okay, plus two.
Okay.
It's a one.
But I'm also going to use GreatWeapon Master.
Wait, wait, wait.
Or Divine Smite.
Let me find it.
That'd be a sweet class.
(01:42:55):
Where'd you basically scan it?
Uh so because of my giantancestry, uh, I'm going to use
Frost Chill.
Okay.
As a frost giant.
Uh it says when you hit atarget with an attack roll and
deal damage to it, you can alsodeal one d6 cold damage to it
and reduce its speed by tenfeet.
(01:43:15):
So start of your next move.
So one d6.
Which one is that?
Wylie (01:43:20):
So how much did it take
of the budgeting?
So I can keep track of it.
Oh.
How much did it take ofbludgeoning damage for the first
hit?
One.
One, just one.
Brad (01:43:28):
Uh uh because it's a few.
Oh wait, wait.
Plus two.
Yeah, so three.
Sorry, my bad.
unknown (01:43:33):
Okay.
Brad (01:43:34):
Three plus four.
I think.
Yeah.
Wylie (01:43:41):
And another four damage.
Gordon (01:43:42):
Cold damage.
Wylie (01:43:43):
Cold damage.
So, okay, it takes eight.
Jared (01:43:45):
Uh, and I take eight
damage, correct you.
Wylie (01:43:48):
Um, so you take four plus
three.
Seven.
Seven.
Okay.
Um, so it took three and eight.
So it took eight.
A total of twelve.
Cool.
Oh, sorry, eleven.
So it took a total of eleven, you take a total of seven.
Mimir (01:44:03):
Cool.
Jared (01:44:05):
I go.
Ooooooohhhh.
I do the classic like LooneyTune spin.
Okay.
You do they release?
Do they what?
Wylie (01:44:12):
Um yeah, and so with
that, they're gonna take um they
took damage, and so they'regonna take a disadvantaged
strength check against that.
Okay.
Um so that was a four, so uh,they're probably going to fail.
Yeah, the um the four was thehighest they got.
So um total of seven, um, thatthey're not able to keep
clinging onto the face.
So that was gonna be a DC tenfor that.
(01:44:33):
So um the rest of the umtentacles fall off into the
snow.
And um, let's see.
So there was the cap that hasgrown legs, and that is kind of
is coming towards you guys.
It hasn't reached you yet, butthat's where it's coming.
And then um that there was six,no, four tentacles that are in
the snow, and then there's theother two that are now in the
(01:44:54):
snow.
Cool.
Okay.
Jared (01:44:55):
Uh we're we're gonna now
take the dogs and go, right?
Yeah, yeah.
We're gonna be like, thank youso much, we've had such great
times to get in and go.
Yeah, three out of ten, uh andstart running at the uh and
we're just start going, uh I'mgonna leave the fire sword
because it's uh in c uh coveredin tentacles, right?
Wylie (01:45:13):
Okay, yeah.
There was there was some buyit, and they're probably staying
close to it because it's thewarmest thing around there.
Jared (01:45:18):
I can't turn it off and
then take it back or um without
taking tentacles.
Oh, the dragon knife?
Yes, steampunk dragon.
Wylie (01:45:26):
Because I really punk
monarch dragon knife.
Jared (01:45:28):
That's really cool.
I'm gonna roll a D20, and ifit's uh high, I I don't take it.
If it's low, then I will takeit.
What's a natural 20?
I have to try to take it.
No.
Okay, fine, I'll take it.
Wylie (01:45:43):
Um forget the natural 20.
I'm sorry.
So that dice meant nothing.
It did.
Jared (01:45:48):
It meant something to me.
Uh, I'm gonna turn off the uhthing and then try to yank the
knife uh so it like slips pastthem.
Wylie (01:45:56):
Okay.
Um give me a slide of handcheck.
You're not and but do it withdisadvantage because you don't
really know how to operate thisknife.
Alan (01:46:04):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
yeah, yeah.
Jared (01:46:07):
Okay.
Okay.
14.
Wylie (01:46:11):
All right.
You just barely are able toturn off the knife and get it
away from the tentacles.
Cool.
Jared (01:46:18):
Sweet.
Uh, and we're like, thank youso much.
Go.
Uh we go.
We round up and go.
Wylie (01:46:23):
You round up the dogs and
you guys take off.
And you head back to your base.
unknown (01:46:28):
Oh gosh.
Jared (01:46:28):
I'm gonna be like, uh on
the way back, I'm gonna be like,
there was something realstrange about that area, guys.
Kipo (01:46:34):
I don't know what was
happening, but Alan is uh
attempting to reach for theflask in Pyra's uh pocket.
Wylie (01:46:43):
Uh Pyra hands it to him.
Perfect.
Kipo (01:46:46):
Uh Gordon, like just
taking little sips.
Brad (01:46:50):
Gordon's just like uh like
oh yeah, it's very, very
strange uh how how she saidmuddy was the chef, but then
Stinky go to uh you know cook.
But Buddy, Buddy is a very, very nice guy though.
I still I think Buddy is thebest.
Yes.
