Codédex partnered with GitHub Education! 🙌 For this special episode, we invited Juan Pablo Flores, aka Juan Pa, Senior Program Manager at GitHub based in Seattle on the pod. Juan shared his origin story in this episode, from writing Java scripts (you read that right) on RuneScape, MapleStory, and FarmVille to organizing hackathons in Mexico City for Major League Hacking to finally moving to Seattle for GitHub. We discussed college hackathons, the importance of English for Mexican devs, whether or not Codédex should have Spanish translation, our first GitHub PRs, the impact of AI in education, GitHub Education, GitHub Campus Experts, how the partnership between Codédex and GitHub came to be, OpenAI's evolution over the years, how to measure community health, and what's ahead for GitHub (GitHub Field Day!).
Shoutout to the whole GitHub Education team for believing in Codédex and the wonderful work they are doing for students! ⛺️
