Each week, Bob Mendelsohn will take us on a journey, 18 minutes of time together, learning and laughing and feeling what's going on in the world around us. It's really a podcast about people and for people. Topics might include sports, books, religion, and words themselves-- people though are our #1 concern. Broadcast each TUESDAY from his home in Sydney, Australia. Photos of the guests are here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/bobmendo/albums/72177720296857670. You are invited to share your thoughts via Instagram or FB, even via audio if you'd like. Often we get into topics about health and wellness, and we find those fascinating.
Jewish feast of First Fruits found in the 23rd chapter of Leviticus is fulfilled with a tomb that is the scene of the Greatest Escape ever. A dead Jew, Yeshua, buried and sealed in a tomb, rises from the dead and walks out, lives with his mates for another 6 weeks, and then ascends in a cloud right before their eyes. Amazing story. And an amazing consequence in your life, if you believe it.

It's Saturday, 2,000 years ago, and Jerusalem is quiet. A Jewish rabbi was killed and buried yesterday. What significance does all this have? Then, and even today?
Historical markers include Waco, Oklahoma City, Madison's slave, Lord Byron, and more.

A little longer than the previous 5 days, and a lot of action and conversations taking place 2,000 years ago makes this necessary. Why is this 'good' anyway? And what does it have to do with you?
Historical markers include Paul Revere, Martin Luther, Babe Ruth and a Lebanese bombing.

Back in 33 CE or so, this episode features the Passover and the story of redemption. A little bit of nuance about the difference between the Redeemer and Redemption itself. But don't get hung up. Also a bit on simulation vs shadows in Older Testament thinking.
Also Historical Marker of the Day features Bay of Pigs, The NY Stock Exchange, the Boston Marathon and Rodney King.
What are your takeaways from the chance to rest and reconsider the events so far, AND to plan for what's about to take place. In your life, or in the lives of those who influence you.
Historical marker of the day again features Abe Lincoln, and also Vladimir Lenin, Harriet Quimby and the Rolling Stones.

Who does Yeshua think he is taking it out on the MoneyChangers in the Temple? What message does God have for me on Day 2 of this year's Holy Week? What was Yeshua trying to say to us, or to you?
Historical marker is a lot of bad news.

Season 7 Episode 3 features Rachel Links Kushner from the US. She's a podcaster and a long-time friend. Jewish subjects and Philadelphia Cheese steaks feature. (With Whiz or without?)
Historical marker includes Argentina's first female president, Ada Lovelace the great mathematician and the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Season 7, episode 2 is about results and especially not waiting for the results. Sometimes we get it wrong when we stop watching too soon, or when jet lag hits us full on. Three stories that might make you smile. At least I hope so.
Historical marker of the week includes Akihito in Japan, the invention of the leotard and the closing of Ellis Island.

A bit of Hosanna reprise, some Mount of Transfiguration flashback, John chapter 1 telling us who is tabernacling with us, and even the last book in the Bible, Revelation chapter 21 where the culmination culminates! It's all there at Messiah's return. Oh, and we finish Ecclesiastes chapter 12 with Solomon's real conclusion about where to find hope and real meaning in life. Even in the rainstorm where we sat, you can ...
Finding salvation is the cry of Hoshana, so how does that help us in 2024? Reading from Ecclesiastes chapter 7 is timely.

From 5783 Day 6 was actually a Shabbat, so it had double meaning for us inside the sukkah. I spoke about the value of and the inherent dangers of traditions. When traditions block or inhibit what they were intended to enhance, it's time to dump them, but until then, if they help, let them stand!
Also a reading from Ecclesiastes 6. And where is (true) hope?
Bob shares from "in the sukkah' about Amos 9 and the fallen booth of David, about the Council in Jerusaalem and Gentiles keeping circumcision, and the role of the nations in Zechariah chapter 14, plus a reading and comments from Ecclesiastes chapter 5.

Looking back at biblical history, we find some interesting information about the prayer Solomon prayed when he dedicated the Temple in Jerusalem around 960 BCE and a countdown of bulls when God told Moses to offer sacrifices on this holiday back in Bible days.

The symbols of the holiday are always instructive and the reading of the Bible's depressing book Ecclesiastes is a great way to ponder what the Almighty wants us to take away.
Originally recorded in my sukkah in 5783.

In this episode, Bob takes us on a journey of other people's journeys related to how they identify and asks "What is your identity?" Maybe the Bible can help us find our own if that's possible.
Historical marker of the week includes the guillotine death sentence in France, the invention of the sewing machine, the first black African Olympic gold medal, and more!
