In this interview, meet Wendell McClurg, the system director of operations at NCH responsible for emergency services at the new NCH Bonita, located –yes, you guessed it, near the corner of US 41 and Coconut Road. While the Naples-based NCH has been anchored in our neighbors to the south for a while, they’ve added outpatient locations over the past several years and the new facility is home to a free-standing emergency room.
Wendell’s a former Army guy who got into nursing and emergency medicine to feel like he was continuing to do something that’s meaningful. And for all of us in Bonita who’ve had to drive 20-30 minutes to emergency rooms in the past, knowing that we can now go to not one but two great ERs, well that means a lot to our area.
