Function better, feel better, and live a better life. This
is doctor Eric Kaplan, and you are listening to boost
your brain power. Now, there are a lot of misconceptions
in modern day medicine because in modern day medicine, they're

(00:39):
always looking to treat symptoms. Right, So, if you have
high blood pressure, they're going to give you medication to
bring down your high blood pressure. If you have diabetes,
they're going to give you medication to bring down fasting

(01:00):
glucose numbers. If you have high cholesterol, they're gonna give
you statin drugs to bring down your high cholesterol. If
you have a headache, they gave you medication to get
rid of your headache. If you have pain, they give
you medication to cover up the pain. Your muscles are tight,

(01:23):
they give you medication to relax the muscles. But they're
never getting to the root cause. Right when you have insomnia.
They give you ambient. It just knocks you out. They're
not saying, why aren't you sleeping properly? Maybe you'll do

(01:44):
a sleep study and then I'll give you a seapap.
Very typical, But they're not getting to the root cause
why do you need that seapap to begin with? Why
do you have to take that ambient? And maybe you're natural?
Even if you're natural, even if people say they're a

(02:06):
functional medicine practitioner, right, they might give you meletonin which
is natural to help you sleep, but then you're treating
the symptoms. You're saying, Wow, I have insomnia. Let me
think melatonin, because melatonin helps you sleep. That's still the

(02:28):
modern medical mindset. Don't have the modern medical mindset. What
is that? Oh, I have low energy? Let me take
B twelve to boost my energy. That's the modern medical mindset.
We don't want that. We want to say, why don't
you have energy? Why aren't you sleeping properly? Why do

(02:52):
you have anxiety? Don't just take Valerian root that's natural. Right.
Even if if you don't take anti anxiety pills, which
are very dangerous because of all the side effects, you
might go the natural route with valerian root, but you're
still treating the symptoms. That's the modern medical mindset. You

(03:17):
gotta change your mindset. It's a paradigm shift. You gotta
change the mindset. If you change your mindset, you'll approach
it differently. Not treating symptoms. You're not taking melatonin because
you can't sleep. You're saying, why aren't I sleeping to

(03:39):
begin with? Maybe you're eating too late. If you eat
at eight o'clock at night, it's gonna increase cortisol. Cortisol
is the stress hormone that's gonna prevent you from sleeping properly.
You want four hours before time. That's the last food

(04:02):
you should have. So if bedtime is ten pm, you
should be doing dinner by six pm and that's it.
No more snacks, no more food. You need four hours
from your last meal to bedtime. If you want to
have proper sleep. Do you want to just take maltonin.
I want to take ambient, We wanna have a seepat machine.

(04:28):
We want to take night quail. Of those are things
that just knock you out. Yeah, you can take stuff
to knock you out. People take xanax. That's not what
we do at my office is a complimating body. I'm
a different type of doctor. I'm one percent. Ninety nine

(04:50):
percent of doctors treat symptoms. We don't want to treat symptoms.
We want to get to the root cause of the problem.
That way, you're never treating symptoms because you fix it
where it starts. You shouldn't need an external source to

(05:15):
fix your internal problem. The power that made the body
heals the body. But we have to do it the
way it's supposed to be done. You're not meant to
be eating at night. It's not the way God intended it.
We eat for energy. Why do you want to increase

(05:37):
your energy right before bedtime and then not understand why
don't have a good night's sleep because you have to
decrease cortisol at night. If you decrease cortisol, your melatonin
will increase. You can take all the melatonin you want.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
It's not gonna work to fix your sleep until you
increase your parasympathetic nervous system, which will decrease your sympathetic
nervous system, which.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Will decrease your cortisol production. That's getting to the root cause.
It's called neuroplasticity. You have to rewire your brain, stop
treating symptoms, start getting to the root cause of the problem.

(06:35):
So if you have difficulty sleeping, you shouldn't have any
electronics at night. Just like you shouldn't have food four
hours before bedtime. You should not have any electronics four
hours before bedtime. No cell phone, no computer, no iPad,

(06:56):
no smart TV, no Netflix, no Disney Plus, no cable,
no YouTube, no Direct TV, no computer, no devices. If
you have to email, do it before six o'clock. Text
message before six o'clock. You want to watch a YouTube

(07:20):
video before six. You want to scroll on Facebook before six.
You want to watch your Netflix Night of Zombies before six.
You gotta do it before six. Decrease your cortisol and
a lot of people say, oh, what am I gonna do?

(07:42):
After six? A million things you could do. Could read
a book, You could draw, could write a poem, could
write in your journal. You could play a board game.
You can play cards, can do a puzzle. You go

(08:05):
for a walk, could listen to some music, listen to
a podcast, do something social, go for a bike ride,
take your dog outside, play soccer or basketball with your kids,

(08:28):
go play pick a ball, go for a hike. Right
in your journal. Do something creative. Take on crocheting. I
don't care what it is. There's a million things. You

(08:50):
don't need electronics for anything. Start using your brain. Your
brain is better than any electronic, any computer ever created.

Speaker 5 (09:04):
But the more we rely on Google, the more we
rely on YouTube, the more we rely on AI, the
more we rely on our cell phones, the more we
rely on Wi Fi and five G, the weaker your
brain becomes. Start to unplug after six pm. I understand

(09:29):
that we're in a modern world and you need to
use some of this technology, but just do it before
six pm.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
Okay, do it during the daylight hours. Do this stuff
between ten and six. Get your activities done in the
middle of the day, and nighttime should be relaxed. The

(10:02):
daytime morning is when you get everything ready. Day times
when you get it done. Right, There's twenty four hours
in a day. There's plenty of time to do everything
you need. You know, if you work eight hours a
day and you sleep eight hours a night, right, it's

(10:30):
pretty typical. That means you have eight hours a day.
It is Monday through Friday. Right, Let's say you work
eight hours a day, you sleep eight hours a night.
Monday through Friday. That means you have eight more hours
a day. And you multiply that times five because there's
five days of the working week and you have forty hours.

(10:51):
Right then you have forty eight hours on Saturday and Sunday.
That means you have eighty eight hours a free time
to do whatever you want. Eighty eight hours and you're
gonna say, I don't have time. We got to get
it together, right, So don't believe in the modern medical

(11:15):
mindset of treating symptoms. Use those eighty eight hours, get
to the root cause of your problems. Start working on
your health, because there's nothing important then your health. Your
health should be number one. You only have one life,
one body. Make it the best quality of life ever.

(11:39):
That way you'll function better, feel better, and live a
better life. This is doctor Eric Kaplan and you're listening
to boost your brain power.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
If you want to improve your brain function, help with memory, focus, sleep, digestion, energy, depression, anxiety, dizziness, balance, vision, headaches,
brain fog, weight loss, or simply want to maximize your
human potential and prevent future diseases. That this is the
show for you. Don't misboost your brain power with doctor
Eric Caplan and you will learn natural, integrative, and holistic

(12:15):
approaches to modern day medical problems such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's stroke, autism,
add concussion, autoimmune diseases, insomnia, fibromyalgia, vertigo, migraines, four posture pain, TBI,
skin and digestive problems. Doctor Kaplan is most famous for
getting to the root cause of a wide variety of
brain and health conditions, rather than treating symptoms with traditional

(12:37):
medicines and risky surgeries. To contact doctor Kaplan, you can

Speaker 3 (12:50):
Function Better, feel better and live a better life. This
is doctor Eric Aplin and you're listening to wish your
brain power. There are lots of medical misconceptions in the
world today. You know, it's very hard to understand what's

(13:14):
healthy and what's not healthy. Because we're number one. There's
so much information out there right there's you know, the
Internet gives us access to all of these resources that
we never had before, which in my opinion, is a

(13:35):
good thing because people could start to do their research right.
It used to be that whatever the doctor said, you know,
he never questions it that was it. I like how
we could question the doctor that. I like how you
could go on the internet and look up certain things.
But what you have to do. I always tell patients,
I encourage them to do their own research, but come

(13:57):
back to me and ask me about the research. Should say, hey, Doc,
you know I read X Y Z on the internet.
Is that true? Does this affect my health? Is there
anything that I could learn from this article that's appropriate
for me to do so that I can prove, you know,
my health and my well being to function at the
highest possible level. So I always like to look at

(14:20):
that stuff, and then sometimes I'll learn things, you know,
I learn stuff every day. You know. I always make
sure each patient that comes to my office that they
learn something every day. But it's also great that I
learned something every day from them. And we always have
to keep learning, you know. I'm constantly going to seminars

(14:41):
all the time, especially in neuroscience. It's always different. Stuff
we learned about Parkinson's this year is different than Parkinson's
last year. Stuff that we learned about Alzheimer's this year
is different than last year. Stuff about autism. We're always
learning new things about these neurological conditions such as a
MS als. You know, different types of neuropathies, neralgias, different vertigos,

(15:07):
vestibular dysfunctions, different types of headaches. So we're always learning
new things. Mood disorders, bipolar, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, even though
in modern modern medicine, stuff hasn't changed. Right, So with
depression you get antidepressants, With anxiety you get anti anxiety pills.

(15:29):
They're treating the symptoms. Shut off that brain, shut off
that emotion, right, So they're just treating the symptoms. We
don't want to treat the symptoms. We got to get
to the root cause of the problem. Right. So let's
say you know you lose a loved one. You're gonna

(15:51):
be depressed. You're gonna be sad, you're gonna cry. It's
gonna be hard, you're not gonna be able to focus
at work. Right, But is the best route to take
antidepressants or are you supposed to be sad? Are you
supposed to cry? Are you supposed to be depressed? Are

(16:14):
you supposed to not be able to concentrate because you
missed your loved one? Of course that's a natural way.
Why Are you going to take an antidepressant to shut
off your emotion? You need to cry it out. When
you tear, that's an emotional detox. Just like when you sneeze,

(16:35):
you're getting rid of toxins. When you cry, you're getting
rid of toxins. When you poop, you're getting rid of toxins.
When you have your period, you're getting rid of toxins. Right.
Why do doctors think it's okay to give medication to
stop your period and women think that's a good thing too.

(17:01):
Don't mess with the way the human body is set up.
If you're supposed to have your period every twenty eight days,
have your period every twenty eight days. Get rid of
the toxic stuff that's in your body. If you're supposed
to poop every day, poop every day. If you're supposed
to urinate multiple times a day, urinate multiple times a day.

(17:23):
If you're supposed to sweat out of your armpits, sweat
your armpits, don't put an anti persper in to stop
your sweating. Hm interesting, Let the body work how it's
supposed to do. You shouldn't need to take medicine to pooper,

(17:45):
Take drink coffee to poop. You shouldn't be naturally pooping
on your own and if you're not, you're treating symptoms.
Stop treating symptoms, start getting to the root cause of
the problem. And if you're not not pooping right every day,
then you gotta get to the root cause. And it

(18:05):
could be the same reason you're not sleeping. It could
be linked through what's called your vagus nerve. Your vegus
nerve is what we call the rest and digest So
a lot of people with vegus nerve problems have difficulty
with sleep and difficulty with digestion. And you might have one,
you might not get the other till later. But let's

(18:26):
fix that vegas nerve problem before it becomes an issue. Right.
So what do a lot of people do with the
modern medical model. They say, oh, you have bad digestion,
you have acid reflux. Ooh, this is another modern medical misconception.

(18:48):
If you have gourd acid reflux, you know those little regurgitations,
little cough, little burning, and your throat, little indigestion. A
lot of you know this will be laid A's acid reflux.

(19:08):
And what do they do? They give you ant acids.
No n acids, We gotta stop taking all these an
acids that decreases your stomach acid. When you decrease your
stomach acid, guess what. Now your immune system sucks because

(19:30):
your acid kills off your viruses, your bacteria, your worms,
your parasites. So if you take an acids, you're gonna
ruin your immune system. That acid helps to break down food.
You're gonna ruin your digestive process. That acid's gonna eat.

(19:51):
Those an acids are gonna cause more problems than good.
Sometimes the cure is worse than the condition. So what
am I gonna say? Because I'm the one percent of
the doctor's I don't believe in taking an acids because
you have acid reflux. The reason you have acid reflex

(20:13):
is not because you have too much acid. That's not
the problem. Taking an acids is the worst solution because
the problem is not that you have too much acid.
You need stomach acid. When we take medicine, that brings
down our natural processes, that makes us worse. When you

(20:36):
take statin drugs to treat high cholesterol, it makes your
body worse. Your brain and body needs cholesterol. Why do
you think cholesterol meds lead to dementia? Do you want dementia.
I don't think you do. So you better get to

(20:58):
the root cause of taking a statin dry Maybe you
gotta clean up your diet. When you take these antibiotics,
you're killing off all this good bacteria, your gut microbiome,
your oral microbiome. This is your immune system, it's your absorption.

(21:19):
Your body is filled up trillions of bacteria. We gotta
stop killing all this good natural bacteria in our bodies.
I don't want antibiotics. I want probiotics, all right, So
we gotta stop taking antacids, antibiotics, cholesterol meds, high blood

(21:44):
pressure meds. When we take these high blood pressure meds, now,
we're decreasing blood flow in circulation to our brain. It's
gonna cause more brain problems. Why do you think Alzheimer's
keeps climbing up because more people are on cholestero meds,
more people aren't high blood pressure meds, more people have diabetes.

(22:05):
Diabetes causes Alzheimer's. In fact, they're changing the name of
Alzheimer's is eased to diabetes type three and met foreman
and ozempic and all these diabetes drugs are just trying
to bring down those glucose numbers. But what we want
to do is figure out why are your glucose numbers
getting too high. Do you got to change your diet.

(22:27):
You gotta exercise more, you gotta not need at night,
you gotta get better sleep, you gotta reduce your stress.
The modern medical society is just treating the symptoms. Oh no,
my eyes are bad, I'm getting neuropathy. Oh, you have diabetes.
Take diabetes medication. No, if you go to the doctor

(22:50):
because your eyes are bad, or you got your neuropathy,
or you have dry mouth, or you urinate frequently, or
you have obesity, right, you have numbness and tingling. It's
a lot of different side effects of diabetes. Right, so
you go to the doctor, what do they do, You
got diabetes, give you medication. Instead of saying, hey, let's

(23:15):
get rid of the sugar. Let's get rid of the soda.
Let's get rid of the juice. Let's get rid of
the bread, the rice, the potatoes. Let's get rid of
the oatmeal, the cereal, the crackers. Let's get rid of
the cookies, the cake, that doughnuts, the candy. What about
actually getting to the root cause of the diabetes. What
about stop living a diabe. Not stop living a sedentary lifestyle.
What about exercising and go to the gym war what

(23:37):
about going to bed earlier reducing stress. You can reverse
diabetes on your own. You could reverse heart disease on
your own. Drinking more water, reducing stress, exercising more, eating,
healthier meditation, mindfulness, proper sleep. You could reverse everything on

(24:01):
your own. Acid reflux, you could reverse it. Just gotta
stop eating dairy and bread and coffee and wine and alcohol,
and corn and soy and crackers and all the grains.
If you do that, you will not get acid reflux anymore.
Because regular food, just like fruits and veggies and fish

(24:25):
and chicken, those are easier to digest. Breads, processed food
stuffs and boxes and cans and bags, dairy products, cheese, yogurt,
creamy sauces, all this process crap, all these dairy products,
all these grains, breads and pastas and noodles. They cause

(24:47):
acid reflux. So avoid the processed foods. Eat food from
the earth with all different colors. Avoid all the white foods,
the flour, the dairy, the sugar, all the breads, the
rice is, the pastas, the grains, Avoid all that crappy food,
avoid the coffee, avoid the alcohol that causes acid reflux.
You could do it. You just got to work for it.

(25:09):
You got to put in the effort and then you'll
function better, feel better, and live a better life. This
is doctor Eric Caplan and you're listening to boost your

Speaker 3 (26:18):
Function better, feel better, and live a better life. This
is doctor Eric Kaplan and you're listening to boost your
brain power. We're talking about modern medical misconceptions. There's a
lot of them, and unfortunately, people are brainwashed into thinking

(26:44):
certain things are good for you when they're really not.
And it's not your fault, you know, because the powers
that be are very powerful, right, and they have you
thinking all this stuff is normal and you're supposed to
to do it right. Oh you know, Oh you have
a fever. Here, take this tile and all to bring

(27:06):
your fever down. Right, We're all taught this as a kid.
Oh you're sick. Here, take this advil, this aspirin, this
tile and all. This will help you feel better. Right,
We're all taught to treat the symptoms. But what if
that fever is actually helping you? Right? The body's heating

(27:28):
up for a reason. So a modern medical misconception is
that a fever is bad. A fever is good. It's
letting you know, Hey, I'm sick. I'm going to heat
up my body to burn off the virus, the bacteria,

(27:54):
the parasite, the worm, the allergen, whatever bad thing is
in your body. Your body's heating up to kill it off.
Just like when you know you write your July fourth
barbecue and people put the meat on the fire. That's
to kill off the bacteria. The heat kills it off.

(28:19):
So when your body heats up, it's killing off the
bad bacteria. Now, if you take a medicine, that's going
to bring down your fever. Now the bacteria can thrive.
So when you treat the fever, you end up being

(28:43):
worse because your bacteria, now it's thrives. Now your immune
system isn't working how it's supposed to. We are not
smarter than the human body. When the body heats up,
we're supposed to heat up. When you have pain, you're
supposed to have pain. If you take a pain killer

(29:09):
and you're hiding the symptoms, now you might end up
injuring yourself even more. Right, So, if you have pain,
you have to get to the root cause of the problem.
Modern medical misconception is, oh, take a title, take an aspirin,

(29:31):
Take an ibuprofen. Right, take an end said, take a percostet,
take a bike it in, take an OxyContin, take some morphine. Right.
If you have pain, they want you to treat the symptoms.
Let's give you an epidural shot. Let's give you a

(29:54):
cortison shot. Right, every treatment is to hide the pain.
It's the worst thing to do. That pain is telling
you something's wrong. Maybe it's a nerve. If it's a nerve,

(30:16):
we'll have to do nerve decompression. We might have to
do some manual traction, and we could do that at
our office. Maybe the pain comes from a bone, Maybe
you have to do a manipulation. We could do that
in our office. Maybe it's a muscle. Maybe you need

(30:41):
to do active release technique to release that muscle spasm.
We could do that in our office. But I'm the
type of doctor that gets to the root cause of
the problem. I'm not gonna treat the pain with a painkiller,
a muscle relaxer. An end said a sta We're gonna

(31:02):
dupe the root cause. If it's a nerve, we decompress
the nerve. If it's a bone, we work on the
bone alignment. If it's a muscle, we decrease the spasm.
It's not rocket science. You get to the root cause
of the problem and you figure it out, then you're
able to live a healthy life without any medication. The
problem is in modern medical society, there's all these specialists, right,

(31:25):
So if it's a nerve, you'll have to go to
a neurologist. If it's a bone, you gotta go to
the chiropractor or the orthopedic. If it's a muscle, you
gotta go to the physical therapist. Right, So what if
it's all three, then you gotta go see three doctors.

(31:48):
That's not cool. So what I do in our offices
a Capitain Brain and Body in New York, New Jersey,
and we do virtual treatments as well, is work on
a holistic approach where we might do a little bit
of stuff for the nerves, a little bit of stuff
for the muscles, a little bit of stuff for the bones,
a little bit of stuff for the posture, a little

(32:08):
bit of stuff for the nutrition, a little bit of
stuff for the uh mental stress, a little bit of
stuff for the sleeping, a little bit stuff for the water.
So we kind of take a holistic, integrative approach to
health and well being as opposed to going to one doctor.
They're always gonna look at their specialty. Right. If you
go to the surgeon, they're always gonna do surgery. Right.

(32:29):
You go to the medical doctor, they're always gonna prescribe medicine.
You go to the acupuncturists, they're always gonna do needles.
You go to the chiropractor, they're always gonna adjust the bones.
You go to the physical therapist, they're always gonna work
on your muscles. You go to the neurologist, they're always
gonna work on your brain and nerves. You go to
the endochronologists, they're always gonna work on your hormones. You
go to the gastro entrologists. They're always gonna work on

(32:51):
your gut. You go to the cardiologists, they're only gonna
work on your heart. You go to the pulmonologists, they're
only gonna work in your lungs. You go to the optimologists,
they're only gonna work on their e You guys get it.
The specialization in the modern medical model is bad because
they only look at one thing. We have to look
at everything. We gotta look at the eyes, the posture,

(33:12):
the muscles, the nerves, the circulation, the inflammation, the digestion,
the respiration. We gotta look at it all. That's why
the combination of functional medicine, functional neurology, holistic, integrative, getting
to the root cause is the approach of the future.
The more specialization the bad. So all my patients complain

(33:35):
that they're being like a pinball machine, smacked all around,
referred to all these different doctors. Nobody gets to know them.
The old school way was much better when you had
one doctor who knew everything about you. They saw you,
they saw your kids, they saw your parents, your grandparents,
they saw your dog, They came to your house. They

(33:56):
knew everything about you. The more doctor knows about you,
the easier it is for them to help you. We
need that personal touch. Doctors barely look at patients these days.
They're just looking at their computer and writing scripts. I
don't like it. We got to change our mindset. Get

(34:20):
to the root cause of the problem. Right, If you
have vertigo, don't just take machlazine or antivert. What's the
cause is that you have crystals in your ear? And
then we have to do this Epley's maneuver. Doctors are
taught this in school, and sometimes you'll go to a

(34:42):
doctor with dizziness and they'll send you home and say, okay,
do this a little Epley's maneuver at home. It's like,
why don't you do it? You're the doctor, right, so
we need to do it ourselves. In the doctor's office,
and it's super easy to fix. But what if your
dizzeyness is from your eyes and we gotta do eye exercise.

(35:03):
What it's from the ears, we might have to do
balance exercises. What is from the cerebellum, we might have
to do coordination exercises. Maybe it's from your parietal cortex,
we got to do propiosptive exercises. So there's could be
due to circulation not getting up blood and oxygen, or
maybe the heart's not pumping as well as it should
and you got pots. I mean, there's all different causes

(35:24):
of vertigo. We got to get to the root cause
of it, not just treat it with a pill. Change
your mindset, say hey, let me get to the root cause.
Ask your doctor where is this coming from. Let them
know I don't want to just treat symptoms with pills.
And even if your doctor is more natural, it doesn't

(35:46):
mean just treat it with a pill and say, oh,
I have to digest the problems. Just take these enzymes. No,
it's not that simple. It's still treating symptom. Right, You
don't want to just treat symptoms. You gotta get to

(36:10):
the root cause of the problem, and the root cause
isn't what they tell us. Right, Oh, my memory is
getting bad. Oh, it's just because you're getting older. Wrong,
that's a lie. Don't believe the lie that your memory
gets worth with age. Your memory can improve with age.

(36:32):
But what you have to do is memory exercises, brain exercises.
You might need more oxygen and more blood flow. You
might need to bring down your inflammation. You might need
help with your cerebral spinal fluid. You might need work
with your neuro transmitters. You might might need more sunlight,
more oxygen, more water. You might better nutrition. You mean,

(36:54):
there's a million things that might be the cause of
your memory problems. You might have a sedentary lifestyle. You
might not be sleeping well. You might be too much
stress mode. You might not eat properly. You might have
a genetic predisposition where you have to work more than
the average person. As long as you do the work,

(37:15):
your memory can improve. You got to challenge your memory, right,
Nobody learns new things anymore. There was one thing I
could tell you to improve your memory prevent dimanchia in Alzheimer's,
it's to do new things, novelty, learn a new dance,
learn a new skill, learn a new language, learn a

(37:37):
new musical instrument, learn a new word, learn a new process,
learn a new skill, take on a new hobby, meet
new people, go to new places. Do something new every
single day for the rest of your life. You have
to learn and do new things. Don't keep comfortable doing
the same thing every week. The most important to improve

(38:00):
your memory is novelty. That way you'll function better, feel better,
and live a better life. This is doctor Eric Caplin,
and you're listening to boost your brain power.

Speaker 2 (38:15):
If you want to improve your brain function, help with memory, focus, sleep, digestion, energy, depression, anxiety, dizziness, balance, vision, headaches,
brain fog, weight loss, or simply want to maximize your
human potential and prevent future diseases, that this is the
show for you. Don't misboost your brain power with doctor
Eric Caplan and you will learn natural, integrative and holistic

(38:38):
approaches to modern day medical problems such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's stroke, autism,
add concussion, autoimmune diseases, insomnia, fibromyalgia, vertigo, migraines, four posture pain, TBI,
skin and digestive problems. Doctor Caplin is most famous for
getting to the root cause of a wide variety of
brain and health conditions, rather than treating c mptoms with

(39:00):
traditional medicines and risky surgeries. To contact the doctor Kamplin,
you can call his team at two O one two
six one two one five zero or visit his website
at KAPLANDC dot com.

Speaker 3 (39:13):
Function better, feel better and live a better life. This
is doctor Eric Kaplan, and you're listening to boost your
brain power. We're talking about modern medical misconceptions. One of
the biggest misconceptions and we see all the time every
day in my practice, is thyroid problems. So many people

(39:39):
are on this synthroid this thyroid medication for hypothyroidism. A
lot of people are told that they have this low
thyroid and that they're just gonna have to be on
medication for the rest of their lives. Here is the misconception.

(40:00):
Percent of thyroid problems occur from autoimmune disease. They're not
thyroid problems, so taking thyroid medication isn't getting to the
root cause of it. There's an autoimmune condition called hashimotos,

(40:23):
but the only way you'll know if you have hashimotos
is to do blood work. While testing your antibodies, these
thyroid antibodies, these TPOs, these thyroxine abs, these there's these
a few of them. There's what we're called antibodies, which

(40:44):
means that your body's attacking its thyroid. And when the
body attacks the thyroid, now when they check your blood work,
such as your ts H or your T three or
T four, those numbers aren't gonna look like they're off.
They're gonna look low only because the body's attacking the thyroid,

(41:07):
not because it's an actual thyroid disease. So what that
means is that if we can get to the root
cause of the autoimmune disease and stop the immune system
from attacking its own thyroid, then the thyroid numbers are
gonna naturally go within the normal range. The TSH, the

(41:33):
T three, and the T four will be normal because
the body's not gonna attacking the thyroid anymore, and then
there's no need to take the medication. So when doctors
are giving you medication to treat the thyroid without even

(41:54):
knowing what the root cause is, that can cause you
to be on medicine for your whole life. And a
lot of times what happens is people are taking medicine
for years and years and years for low thyroid and that,
and then they might get healthy, right, they might start
eating healthy, they might reduce their stress levels or whatever
it may be, start sleeping better, bring down their inflammation,

(42:17):
so they might get a little bit healthier. When they
get healthier, Now the medicine's gonna overwork, and then the
body's gonna create hyper thyroid problems because you're taking hypeo
thyroid medication and now your body's becoming regular, and now

(42:40):
the medication causes hyper thyroid problem because it's overworking. Okay,
then they got to switch up to medicine and say, oh,
now you have hyper thyroidism. You're stuck on this medication
for life. Sometimes the cure is worse than the condition.

(43:04):
So what I would suggest, it's a very simple solution.
You have to do a whole thyroid panel. When you
do a whole thyroid panel, which include antibodies, it's going
to tell you do you have hypeo, do you have
hyper do you have hashimotoves, do you have graves? Is
it secondary? Is it from the petuitary? Is it a primary?

(43:24):
So there's all these different thyroid problems. The medication is
only appropriate if it's a primary thyroid problem, but those
are very rare. It's only ten percent at a time.
Typically it's either coming from the petuitary, it's autoimmune disease,
it's like a Graves disease. That's the most common thyroid problem,

(43:48):
but we won't know unless you actually test for it.
So you have to do a whole thyroid panel and
if your antibody numbers are high, that means it's not
a thyroid problements and autoimmune disease. There are six foods
that are your primary autoimmune disease foods that you must avoid,

(44:11):
and if you do it for six weeks and redo
your blood work, you will literally see your antibody numbers
go down. The six foods are dairy grains, corn, soy, coffee,
and alcohol. Those are the six autoimmune foods. If you

(44:34):
test positive for autoimmune disease, which would be the thyroid
antibodies also would be an ana. Autoimmune diseases are like
rheumatoid arthritis. You would test positive for the ra factor
ms is, autoimmune fibromyalgia, shogrins, IBS, siliac disease, hashimotos, graves psoriasis.

(45:06):
What else do we have that's autoimmune disease, fibromyalgia, we have.
That's most There's lots of autoimmune diseases. It's a very
common thing, but nobody checks for these, all right, But

(45:27):
if you do have autoimune disease, those are the top
six foods. Okay, lupus is an autoimmune disease, so so
the six foods again, dairy products, grains, corn, soy, coffee, alcohol,

(45:52):
those are the big six. To reverse autoimmune disease, make
it scientific. Check your blood work, do it for six weeks,
then recheck your blood work. Prove to yourself, Prove to
the doctor. Prove to society that you have the power
to heal yourself by doing the proper habits, eating the

(46:13):
proper foods, rewinding your brain through process called neuroplasticity. So
when you have autoimmune disease, not only do you have
to avoid the foods, but you also have to rewire
your brain and you have to increase your parasympathetic nervous system,
decreasing your sympathetic nervous system well, which will decrease your

(46:34):
overactive immune system. Because if your brain is overactive, your
immune system is overactive, then your muscles are overactive and
you're in pain and spasm. It's going to calm things down.
Many people, especially in the Northeast, their brains are overactive.
They've insomnia, you know, they have anxiety, they panic, they worry,
they have ADHD, they have trouble with sleep, they have

(46:56):
brain fogg fati. They're you know, their minds raising a
million miles per hour. They get heart palpitations, they get nervous.
You know, it's like I hear the story every day
that creates autoimmune disease. Gotta calm down your nervous system.
You gotta get to the root cause. Change your mindset.
If you have a symptom, where is that symptom coming from?

(47:19):
Why do you have it? Not? How do I get
rid of this symptom? That's what ninety nine percent of
doctors are gonna do. They're gonna try and get rid
of your symptom. What I'm gonna do is get to
the root cause of the problem is figure out where
it's coming from. I'm like a detective, right, I gotta

(47:42):
analyze everything. I gotta do all these evaluations to figure
out where the problem's coming from. And let me be
a detective for you. We're gonna keep you guys a gift.
I'm gonna tell you how I'm a detective, how I
analyze the brain and the body to get to the
root cause of your problem, whatever it is. Whether you're
trying to lose weight, whether you're trying to reduce your anxiety,

(48:06):
whether you're trying to get rid of your pain. You
want to improve your memory, whether you want to improve
your depression, your brain fog, improve your sleep, I don't
care what it is. You want to get rid of
your headaches, your dizzyness, your balance problems. I want to
get with your heart palpitations, your digestive problems, your urinary problems,

(48:27):
your mental problems, your hormonal problems, you're a rectile dysfunction,
your lack of libido, your headaches, your blurry vision, your
tonight is I don't care what it is. I'm going
to be a detective and get to the root cause
of the problem. But I need to do these three tests.
They're normally six hundred dollars, but I'm going to teach
you how to get each of these tests for only

(48:48):
twenty one dollars. The first test is called a qEEG
brain mapping, and what I do is I put this
cap on your head and it measures your brain waves
with all these different electric that are attached to different loads,
and the different size of your brain measures your out
the brain range, beta, theta delta, and it tells me
which areas are working well which are not. And it's

(49:10):
gonna tell me, oh, I'm gonna have low dopamine or
low acetylcholine, or I have intestinal inflammation or a hypothyroid
problem right a concussion or heavy metal poisoning, or some
virus that's attacking the brain. Or there's problems with motivation
and focus, or anger or aggression, or difficulty with sleep,
or headaches or dizzyness, or balance problems, or light sensitivity

(49:31):
or ringing ears. It's gonna say, do you have anxiety depression,
you have short term memories, long term memory? It breaks
everything down. It takes about twenty to thirty minutes. The
first seven people to call, text or email can get
this qEEG brain mapping for only twenty one dollars. The
second test, it's called a VNG or a VOG video

(49:55):
anstography or video ocaolography. You wear these goggles that have
infrared cameras on them. They measure your eye movements and
your eyes go right and left, and they go up
and down. They go fast and slow and dark and light,
with motion, with head movements, and it literally tells us
which side is working better, the right side, the left
side is at the parieto, the front row of the cerebellum.
It breaks down all the lobes, the sides, which areas overactive,

(50:17):
which areas are underactive. This VNG no radiation, no side effects,
no risks, no pain. You just wear these goggles, do
these little eye movements. So normally six hundred dollars, you
could get it for only twenty one dollars. If you're
one of the first seven people to call, text or email,
I'm gonna leave you the number in just a second.
The third test is a one on one with me

(50:39):
where I go over your qEEG. I go over your VNG.
I go over your old blood work or your cat skins,
or go over your history, your family history, your medications,
your diagnoses, your anemias, all this stuff. I do my
own test. I listen to your lungs, your heart, your gut.
I check out your balance, your posture, your range of motion.

(51:02):
WE check out your coordination, how you walk, your oxygen levels,
your respiration. We check out your reaction time, your balance.
We do a whole complete neurological and physical evaluation, normally
six hundred dollars. The first seven people to call text
or email you could get it for only twenty one dollars.

(51:22):
And if you want to do all three you can.
You can just do one if you want, or you
could do all three. Just say you listen to the
radio show and you want to do all three tests
for only twenty one dollars each. The phone number to
call our text is two zero one two six one
