This is where we'll pull backthe curtain.
We'll talk about life, career, mindset, health, just the raw
side of juggling at all.
It's not scripted or polished,it's really just life
unfiltered.

(01:47):
And today is our very firstunfiltered episode.
I'm gonna be honest with you, Ispent a lot of time thinking
about what to share.
I had so many different ideas, but one phrase just kept coming
back to me, especially justgiven everything that we have
going on in our world, and Ijust feel compelled to share it
with you.

(02:07):
The phrase is simple, but it isso powerful.
More is caught than taught.
I first heard this phrase from.
Pastor T on the Ascent Churchpodcast based out of Virginia,
which I often listen to onMonday mornings during my
workouts.
And when he says more is caughtthan taught, he's often talking

(02:29):
about kids and how they watchwhat we do far more closely.
Then they listen to what we say.
But the more I've thought aboutit, the more I've realized this
doesn't just apply to kids, itapplies to all of us.
I mean.
Think about it for a second.
How often are you influenced bywhat you see rather than what
you're told?

(02:50):
You see someone wearing a cuteoutfit or rocking a new pair of
shoes, and before you know it,what are you doing?
You're searching online to findthe same thing.
I know you do it because I do ittoo.
Or you walk into a room wheresomeone's energy is negative,
they're angry or stressed, andbefore you know it, that energy
rubs off on you.

(03:11):
You're walking out of that roomfeeling upset or stressed if
your boss stays late everysingle night, even if they tell
you it's okay, go home.
Don't worry about it.
I got it.
You start to feel guilty leavingon time.
When you see every single nightthey're staying late, their
actions speak louder than theirwords.

(03:32):
That phrase more is caught thantaught is true in our everyday
lives, whether we realize it ornot.
It is especially true when itcomes to our health.
Think about it.
When you start eating better, when you get up early to work
out, when you choose waterinstead of soda, people around
you notice even your spouse, kids or coworkers don't say

(03:57):
anything about these choicesyou're making, but they are
watching and they're noticing, and here's the truth, your
consistency, your discipline.
Your effort, all of it.
It influences them far more thantelling them what they should
do.
That's why it's so important tokeep going, even when it feels

(04:19):
like no one else is payingattention.
Your example could be the sparkthat changes the health of your
household or even the culture ofyour workplace.
This doesn't just apply tofitness.
If your workplace is negative, you can shift the energy by
showing up with positivity.

(04:40):
If you're surrounded by gossip, you can choose not to engage at
home.
When tensions rise, you can leadby responding with patience
instead of frustration.
The way you carry yourself, theactions you take sets the tone.
I often find myself remindingmyself of these things for my

(05:01):
own life.
It is the same with our health.
Your kids might not ask whyyou're making grilled chicken
and vegetables instead ofordering pizza, but they're
watching.
They notice your coworker mightnot say anything when you take a
walk at lunch instead ofscrolling on your phone.
But they noticed, and let metell you something about that.

(05:23):
I started doing that a few yearsago.
I have a desk job and I'd sit inan office and man, at the end of
the day, I would hardly get anymovement and I would start to go
a little crazy, to be honest.
If I would get done with ameeting, especially if the
meeting maybe got over a fewminutes early, I would get up

(05:45):
and I would go for a quick fiveminute walk around the block.
That's all it was.
It was a short walk and itallowed me to reset my mind
process, the meeting that I justleft, but it also gave me a
renewed energy, so that way whenI sat back down to start another
task, I wasn't tired I was readyto refocus and continue on with

(06:07):
my day.
And you know what's funny isthat the more that I did that,
the more my peers caught on andthen I started noticing that
they were doing the same thing.
Maybe just like I said, insteadof sitting on their phone at
their desk during their lunchhour, I noticed some of them

(06:29):
would put their headphones inand go for a walk up to the end
of the street and back.
And some of them are still doingit today because I see them
posting about it on Facebook, how they're walking at lunch and
how they're focusing on gettingmore movement in.
And I love that.
And you wanna know something?
I never said a word to anybodyabout it.
I just simply started doing itand they saw me doing it.

(06:52):
Then they started doing that forthemselves, and then likely what
happened is they started feelingbetter.
They felt like they couldperform better at work.
They had more energy after theirlunch because they didn't just
eat lunch and then sit at a deskfor four more hours.
They ate lunch, went for a 20minute walk, and then were able
to come back and refocus and beproductive.

(07:13):
More really is caught thantaught.
Think about it when you aregoing to engage with your
friends, maybe invite a friendfor a walk instead of going to
have a beer, start taking a walkafter dinner as a family.
These small daily choices trulyhave a ripple effect.

(07:35):
They're impactful.
Your spouse, your kidscoworkers, and your friends,
they see it.
They see you, and they'rewatching, and that's what makes
this phrase so powerful.
More is caught than taught.
It's really not just aboutinfluence, it's about
responsibility.
The truth is you are influencingthe people around you, whether

(07:57):
you mean to or not, every singleday.
So here's my challenge for youthis week.
Pay attention to how you'recarrying yourself in your
workouts, in your nutrition, inyour relationships, and in your
career.
Ask yourself, am I modeling thekind of health, energy and
mindset I want others to catch?

(08:18):
And it's also important toremember the people that you
surround yourself with.
If you're around negativity allthe time, you'll catch it.
If you are hanging around peoplewho aren't prioritizing their
health, drinking, bingedrinking, they are influencing

(08:39):
you, and maybe it's time to justtake a step back and reflect on
that.
Maybe that's partly why it'shard for you to stay committed
to your health and fitnessjourney.
Maybe you need to reconsider howyou approach that in those
environments.
Maybe you need to put yourselfout there a little bit and reach

(08:59):
out to a friend and ask if theywould come alongside you and be
a walking buddy.
If you surround yourself withpeople who value growth, health,
positivity, that energy is goingto rub off on you.
The bottom line is more iscaught than taught.

(09:20):
Lead with your actions in thegym, in the kitchen, and in
life.
Focus on showing up as thehealthiest, strongest version of
yourself and watch how thatenergy spreads into every area
of your world.
Thank you so much for tuning into our very first unfiltered
episode.

(09:41):

your health and fitness journey, couture fitness coaching, would

lifestyle that actually worksfor you.
I'll put it link in the shownotes so you can connect with

(10:01):
And until next time, rememberyour actions speak louder than
your words.
More is caught than taught.
So be intentional, be inspiring, and keep showing up for your
health, your fitness, yourcareer, and your life.

Stuff You Should Know
Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
