(00:00):
Hey everyone.
Welcome back to the BoosterMetabolism Podcast.
We're so glad that you're heretoday.
I'm Janine, and if you've beenfollowing along this month, you
know, we've been talking aboutsomething a little different,
how AI tools like Chat, GPT, canactually support us in our
health and fitness journey.
So let me give you a quickrecap.

(00:21):
In week one, we talked about howto use AI to make better
nutrition decisions.
And last week we looked at howAI can help you create workouts
or add variety to your fitnessroutine.
And so today we're gonna tie itall together by talking about
mindset.
I mean, here's the truth.
Most of us don't strugglebecause we don't know what to

(00:42):
eat or how to work out.
We struggle because of themental load of juggling health
with everything else in life.
Our career, motherhood, familyresponsibilities.
Honestly, our mindset is whatdetermines whether we stay
consistent or we get stuck.
And I know this to be true formyself.
Think about it.
How many times have you skippeda workout?

(01:03):
Not because you didn't havetime, but because you didn't
have the mental energy to figureout what to do.
Or maybe you grabbed takeout, not because you didn't have food
at home, but because the thoughtof planning, cooking, and
deciding just felt like toomuch.
I know I've been there andyou're certainly not alone load.
Honestly, all of that.

(01:23):
It's really a big mental load, and that's where AI can come in.
And that's where AI can come in,not just as a nutrition or
workout tool, but also as amindset support tool.
So let me just give you a fewexamples.
Here are a couple ways thatchat, GBT, or AI can strengthen

(01:44):
your mindset.
It can reduce decision fatigue.
This is something that we talkedabout in one of the previous
episodes, but it.
Decision fatigue is just whenyou get to this place, you're
constantly having to makedecisions.
When you think about all thatyou have in your life, you know
your career, you're makingdecisions all day long as a mom

(02:04):
or as a parent and with yourfamily, you're constantly being
asked to make decisions.
And so then when it comes downto your health and fitness and
you have yet another decision tomake with a workout or what to
eat, or making sure that mealfits into your nutritional plan,
it just becomes.
Decision overload.
And sometimes we call thatdecision fatigue.

(02:25):
So by using chat GBT or anotherAI source, you can quickly
generate a workout or suggestmeal ideas or.
Meal decisions that fit intoyour nutritional place.
And so it saves some brain spaceso you can focus on showing up
for yourself and for those thatyou love.
Instead of overthinking andconstantly finding yourself not

(02:49):
present in the moment andthinking about your health and
nutrition goals, it also cangive you structure.
Having options at yourfingertips really can help you
stick to your plan instead offalling into the, I'll figure it
out tomorrow.
Cycle.
Here's the key.
You have to use the tools thatrequires habit.

(03:09):
And honestly, I prefer to referto this as developing
discipline.
For me, discipline means I'veset a goal, I've made up my mind
to achieve it, and I'm going touse the tools that I have to
stay on track.
Because honestly, if we don'tbuild that discipline, the
second an obstacle comes up, itis so easy to say, Ugh,

(03:30):
whatever.
I'll start fresh tomorrow andthen guess what?
Tomorrow never comes.
I know this because I have donethis myself many times, and I've
really worked on developing thishabit of discipline, thinking
through the goals that I wannaset, thinking through how I'm
going to achieve them.
Thinking through the tools thatI have or can bring into my life

(03:52):
to be able to help me achievethose goals.
So that way I don't find myselfstuck in this, eh, I'll start
fresh tomorrow cycle.
Let me give you a personalstory.
So I'm currently coaching mydaughter's soccer team Right now
it's a group of five and sixyear olds, and it's a lot of
fun, but let's be honest, it canalso be a little bit chaotic at
times.
Five and six year olds are sosweet, but they're also all over

(04:15):
the place.
Sometimes it's almost like Ifeel like I'm in a pinball
machine at their practices.
But anyway, one night practicehad just wrapped up.
It was hot.
I was tired from a long workday.
The girls were exhausted and Ithought, we're just gonna grab
fast food.
Of course, we went to my girls'favorite spot, which is Wendy's,

(04:36):
and I could have just ordered ameal and hoped it fit my plan or
honestly.
Could have just said, forget it.
Just give me a burger and frenchfries.
But instead, I pulled out myphone, open chat, GBT, and typed
in, I'm at Wendy's and I need ameal with at least 30 grams of
protein, less than 60 carbs, andunder 20 grams of fat.

(04:58):
And within seconds, it gave mesome options.
Was it perfect?
No, absolutely not.
But also eating out never isperfect.
It always involves estimates.
But here's the point.
I practiced discipline.
I used the tools that I had andI stayed on track despite the
situation.
And granted, I made the choiceto just go to fast food because

(05:20):
it just fit what my familyneeded that night.
But without that discipline, Iprobably would've said, I'll get
back on track tomorrow.
If you've ever said that, youknow what happens?
Tomorrow comes another bump inthe road shows up, and before
you know it, you're stuck in theall Start tomorrow cycle.
Motivation comes and goes.

(05:42):
Discipline is what keeps youmoving forward.
And discipline doesn't meanperfection.
It simply means executing theplan even when it's not ideal.
And honestly, I just wanna saythat one more time because I
really believe in this.
Discipline is what keeps youmoving forward and towards that
goal that you set for yourself.

(06:02):
It does not mean perfection.
Seriously, y'all.
Discipline does not meanperfection.
It means executing the plan evenwhen the circumstances are not
ideal.
It means staying laser focusedon that goal and just figuring
out how to adjust and continueto move towards that goal when

(06:24):
life throws you hurdles orobstacles or things that you
weren't predicting.
So anyway, I'll get off mysoapbox of discipline, but I
just wanna leave you with onemore thought.
Make sure you're always sharingyour goals with people around
you.
Tell your close friends, tellyour family, your partner, your
spouse.
Honestly, even tell your kids.
Explain why it's important toyou and how you plan to reach

(06:48):
it.
When others know your goals, they truly can support you and
it won't feel awkward to pullout your phone at dinner to use
chat GBT for a healthier choice.
Instead, your peers, yourfriends, your family, your kids,
they'll understand why you'redoing that and they may even
cheer you on and support you inthe best way that you didn't

(07:09):
even know you needed.
So here's the deal.
I'm a single mom working afull-time demanding job
coaching, soccer, running mydaughter to competitive
gymnastics, staying focused onmy own health goals and juggling
everything else that life throwsat me.
And I know that some of youlistening are doing so much more
than I am, but for me, my goalsaren't about fitting into a

(07:31):
certain size.
They're about fueling myself soI can show up fully for my kids,
fully for my career, and for mylife.
And I have just found thatconsistent movement and good
nutrition give me stamina tohandle the long work days and to
still have energy left for mygirls.
And that is what is mostimportant to me.
And when you feel good in yourbody, it spills into everything

(07:55):
else in your life.
Your work, your relationships, your decision making.
I have not only seen this to betrue for myself, but in a
leadership position in mycareer, I've watched the
transformation that occurs inteam members.
When they take control of theirown health and fitness.
They not only feel better, butthey perform better with more
confidence.

(08:15):
I've seen this with past andpresent clients who have set a
goal for themselves and theyexecute the plan.
I just really believe when youfeel good and confident in your
own skin, it truly does improveevery area of your life, and so
I just wanna encourage youagain.
While it's not easy, and ittakes time to develop discipline

(08:38):
around executing your goals, discipline is what is going to
help you get through those harddays, those obstacles, the days
when you wake up and you're justfeeling, Ugh, I'm just not
really motivated to do thistoday, you're gonna say, no, you
know what?
I set this goal for myself andthis goal is what helps me be a
better mom, be a better, teammember to my peers at work, be a

(09:01):
better spouse, be a betterfriend, be a better daughter, a
better son.
It helps me show up for all ofthose things that matter most in
my life.
So as you wrap up, remember thismindset is the biggest factor,
and whether you reach yourgoals, set your goal, decide on
your path, and build disciplineto execute it.

(09:23):
Share your goals with others andlet them support you.
Don't be afraid to use the toolsthat you have, like chat, GBT or
a coach to help you stayconsistent.
And if you're listening rightnow and you're thinking, this
all sounds great, but I wantmore accountability, I need more
structure.
And a coach who actually knowsme.

Stuff You Should Know
Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
