Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to another episode of Boost your Visibility
.
I wanted to share with youtoday a little bit about the
winter season of a business, andwhen I say winter season, I
don't mean, like you know, abusiness isn't doing well or the
season of winter necessarily,but more.
We cycle through differentseasons in business and each one

(00:23):
is so very important.
I live in Wisconsin and everyseason here is just as beautiful
as another and each one makesus look forward to the next,
because there's always somethingto look forward to and there's
always something to benefit fromduring that current season.
So right now in the, in aseasonal business like

(00:49):
photography, even marketing forseasonal businesses some of my
businesses that I do marketingfor are very seasonal.
This is winter, where it'squieter.
I'm going through, you know, analyzing statistics, seeing
what worked and what didn't,planning for the busier time and

(01:12):
really thinking through whatworked well and what didn't,
what do I want to keep aspolicies, procedures and content
plans and what do I never wantto do or experience again.
We all have that one kind ofpain in the backside customer

(01:36):
that comes along, and usuallywhen that happens it's because
either we have something tolearn or we have a change in our
policies that are needed.
So I take a lot of notes duringthis time of year and I am a
writer by nature, so I do liketo go through and really think

(01:57):
through how the season went, what were my favorite moments
and what were not at all myfavorite moments, and how can I
avoid them at all cost.
Time is my currency.
Big time Money I love.
Money's great, don't?
We all love it?
We all need it.
But really time is my numberone currency and I don't want to

(02:18):
waste it, especially withshorter seasons like we have
here in Wisconsin, where it'sreally only warm from May
through October if we're lucky, and there's some rain in there
too.
So I really need to be smartwith my time and how I spend it,
and a lot of that is havingreally great consultations,

(02:40):
really great planning and reallygreat policies and procedures.
So, during this time ofeverybody talking about goals
and doing all these big, hugethings, I want to encourage you
to allow yourself to feel thewinter season and really

(03:01):
experience it and revel in itand enjoy it, so that you can
continue to mold your businessand your work into what you want
it to be, because, believe me,people will mold it for you if
you don't take the time toreally look through what worked,

(03:21):
what didn't and what you wantto change.
I have a question that I ask alot of my friends and I ask it
throughout the winter months andI get laughed at a lot.
But it really makes peoplethink and I ask myself this a
lot too, because summer isusually the favorite month of

(03:41):
activities and doing things withfamily and friends.
My question is hey, so-and-so.
I have a question.
I usually know what it's gonnabe, what do you want your summer
to look like?
And it makes people pausebecause we just don't think that
far ahead.
But if we don't, life will runyou if you don't run it.

(04:05):
So I want to encourage you totake the time to give yourself
space to just let yourself be ina winter season and enjoy it
and plan for the future.
But don't over plan.
You don't have to plan everydetail, but you can plan how
you'd like for things to look, and that is like lighter goal

(04:29):
setting.
It's like goal setting light.
You don't have to go intohousehold culture in order to
really move the needle forward, and I believe the smartest
business owners take a much morecalm approach than the huge
mood boards.
Now, there's nothing wrong withthat.

(04:49):
If you're a planner and youlove your mood boards and your
goals on paper and all of thosethings, that's awesome.
Keep doing it, definitely.
But I also think there is moreto that.
That is like in here and inhere and meaning your head and
your heart of where you'd likethings to go in the future and

(05:12):
how you're going to get there.
Visualizing is importantManifesting.
I know a lot of people believein that.
To me, it is more based onlearning from past experiences
what worked, what didn't, andwhat can you do different in the
future.
It's so simple and yet we alltend to overcomplicate it, so I

(05:37):
just wanted to give you thatpermission to take a few breaths
.
It's here right now.
At the time of this recording,it's January.
It's not crazy season.
For most people, it's okay tojust kind of take care of
yourself, let yourself feel.
The winter Doesn't meanseasonal depression, although we

(05:59):
can't always help it.
It just means letting yourselfhave room to dream and grow, and
sometimes that even meansprofessional development.
Just look for some onlineeducation that is either totally
on topic with what you do for aliving or a whole new skill
that you want to learn.

(06:20):
For me, I'm learning more aboutAI just because I'm a geek and
I love that stuff, and it feedsmy creativity on the marketing
and photography side to dosomething different and stretch
my brain in different ways.
So I hope that this wasinspiring for you.
I hope that you are enjoyingyour if it's winter, your winter

(06:44):
season, and you're just reallytaking care of yourself and
breathing a little bit.
Let me know if you havequestions and I would love it.
If you subscribe to the channel, to the podcast I am on YouTube
, spotify anywhere you can findpodcasts iTunes and if you go to

find more and learn more abouthow to work with me and
basically, separate from thepodcast, I help overwhelmed
marketers and business owners togrow organically online and at
the pace that's right for themand their life and their

(07:26):
business, because growth doesn'talways mean going viral.
Growth means getting realcustomers that are really going
to either come into your door ororder your product or service,
and there is a dance to thatwith all of these online
applications on social media andGoogle, and I help to simplify

(07:51):
it, make it less overwhelmingand make it fun.
So again, reach out if you havequestions, if you have ideas
for a podcast episode, I wouldlove to hear that and I look
forward to talking to you on thenext episode of Boost your
Visibility.
