Dr. Siwei Lyu is a distinguished SUNY Empire Innovation Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University at Buffalo, State University of New York.
He serves as the Director of the UB Media Forensic Lab (UB MDFL) and is the founding Co-Director of the Center for Information Integrity (CII).
With a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Dartmouth College (2005), and both M.S. (2000) and B.S. (1997) degrees in Information Science from Peking University, China, Dr. Lyu's academic journey is both impressive and extensive.
Dr. Lyu's research spans digital media forensics, computer vision, and machine learning.
He has published over 190 refereed journal and conference papers, reflecting his profound impact on these fields.
His research is supported by prestigious grants from NSF, DARPA, and the US Department of Homeland Security.
Recognized for his contributions, Dr. Lyu is the recipient of numerous awards including the IEEE Signal Processing Society Best Paper Award (2011), the National Science Foundation CAREER Award (2010), and the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Research and Creative Activities (2018).
His accolades also include the Google Faculty Research Award (2019) and the IEEE Region 1 Technological Innovation (Academic) Award (2021).
Dr. Lyu is a Fellow of IEEE, IAPR, and AAIA, and a Senior Member of ACM and the Sigma Xi Society, highlighting his esteemed standing in the academic and professional communities.
His work not only advances the field of computer science but also bridges the gap between technology and practical applications in media forensics, ensuring the integrity of information in the digital age.
