My wife and I often didn't have the words we needed during our darkest season of infertility. In the midst of disappointment after disappointment, a cycle of manufactured hope turning into lost hope, grief, and anger, our life together felt like a constant dark night of the soul. Well-meaning people would often attempt encouragement by saying something hopeful or optimistic. In other words, they were trying to find our silver lining. But what that experience taught me is finding someone else's silver lining isn't helpful, and there is something better you can do. Let's talk about that.
