Siegler, hopefully you'll be joining us soon.
Jonathan Talley, our special guests, Robbie Compton, our

(01:41):
favorite coach, Where would the hell Phil went because Phil was
on here when we hit the button and they said devices are not
connected. So we are having some technical
difficulties with Sally and Philtonight, but we're working
through those. But as we work through those, I
want to say a big welcome to everybody.
This is State of the program Home for the Holidays edition.

(02:02):
It is festive in this bitch. It is festive in this bitch.
So hope everybody had a a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, all
all the good holidays out there, every holiday you may.
Celebrate. Yes, Sir.
And I will say this is a specialepisode and we lost Robbie.

(02:22):
Hey, technical issues be be damned.
We're we're pushing forward, fellas.
Special edition guys, 'cause this is home for the holidays.
Pretend that we're at a bar. Pretend that we're at a bar.
You're at home for the holidays. You're hanging out with guys
that you've known for a while. And you know what, you got to
hit that little QR code at the top and you'll be able to join

(02:43):
us and talk a little bit with us.
And we'll kick it. We'll, we'll sip a little bit
and it's going to be a good time.
So anybody that wants to jump on, talk a little bit about
these Hokies, feel free to do that.
And we're going, we're going to get this thing going.
Man, we got a lot of circling. Hey, we, we got Robbie in
Clover, VA, good old Halifax County.

(03:04):
The the Internet is is doing Halifax County Internet things.
100%. 100% but we got Phil Bomason the Mari baby wonderful
sponsor all pound hokey going tohokey game since he was in the.
Womb 40. Plus, years ago, if anybody can
beat Phil on the number of yearsthey've been attending games,

(03:27):
please join us tonight. But I like what Brian said, and
this is kind of the way it's going to be this year.
Usually it's like the way it's been the last four years we've
done this right. Four years, we started in 21,
five years we did it in 2020. I don't remember anything
anymore. But treat it this year like
you're at a local bar with all your things you.

(03:49):
Don't remember some of them. It is true.
Well. Yeah, Hey, hey, hey.
Yeah, mainly I'm. Not I'm not doing a whole bottle
of white label Evan tonight. I I've got I've got the stone
DIPA. One reason it's going to.
Be a whole lot. Better than than that 19 where I
just blacked out about 2/3 of the way through.

(04:11):
Hokie football blacked out for like the past three years.
We need to get back through. They get off the couch.
Mr. Talley. I made.
Hey, stone cold sober on painkillers though with all
those tooth problems. Man, there's been a struggle
over here. They don't work unless you drink
a beer. There you go.

(04:35):
Or. 6 right, that's right, that's right but so so Ron was
saying like treat this like a bar.
We're here, we're at the bar we got a big table everybody's got
drinks or something somebody might not be drinking because if
he drinks, who knows what's going to happen with his pain
medication. And the only agenda we have is

(04:56):
what we're bringing to the table.
This is a very loose, loose operation.
We're just going to kind of talkthrough what we're thinking on
everything, how things are goingand we want y'all's opinions
too. Yep, because it is the state of
the program and and that's is where do you feel we're at,
whether it be financially, coachwise, player wise, anything you

(05:16):
can think of. And you feel like you need to
get off, get off your chest. So you know, and obviously over
the every year, you know me, Tally Bron, Phil's jumped on a
few times with us. He's disappeared, probably
grabbing a beer right now. Robbie's jumping on with us.
We're going to give you our honest opinions.
We're we're not sitting here. There you go, Phil.

(05:38):
We're we're not sitting here just like playing Christmas
pictures, man. We're not just we, we never sit
here and play through the ear ofwhoever.
We're going to give you our honest to God opinion of what
we're thinking about, how we're thinking about it, whether we
feel good, bad, and different. That was 2022 was the year
everything went sideways becauseeverything was sideways at that

(06:01):
point in time. And then this year it felt
sideways for a long time and then it feels like it's not and
sideways anymore. Still a lot of shit to do, but
that's what we want to hear. Whatever you want to talk about,
we'll talk about. We lost Robbie again.
I see, Cat, you didn't. You didn't lose me.
You told me to act like I was atthe bar, so I'm making a noise.

(06:29):
So I'm on, I'm on. Toss it to Phil first, because
Phil, me and you texted and you talked with me and Brian and.
We. Have not heard from you much
since the hire has been made andI know you've been busy with
work. Bill's always working.
It'd be hilarious if you got a call right now and had to do
something while you're on it. That'd be great, Bill.
Also, if if y'all didn't know, if you paid attention to the

(06:53):
Tech game down in the Bahamas, you should have seen Phil in the
crowd because he went down therefor the basketball tournament.
He was easily spotable. Well, you know Phil.
So. Phil, let's feel what your takes
are because I know you've got some different opinions than
other folks. I mean, yeah, that Bahamas trip

(07:13):
was awesome though. Like we will walk around and see
like all the players, all the coaches hanging out.
It was really cool. So yeah, I mean, I'm really
happy that Franklin's there to get our act together because we
were a mess. I'm just in the show me stage,
honestly. Like you just got to show me
like that's all. Like, I love winning the
recruiting. That's awesome.

(07:35):
I love getting these high schoolkids.
That's awesome. I love that we seem to be more
professional, but you still got to show me next year's
schedule's brutal, guys. Next year's schedule like at
least travel wise, is brutal. Like lot.
Of fucking. Travel on the road to Cal on the
road to Dallas, on the road in Boston, on the road in Clemson,
on the road in Maryland, on the road and I'm forgetting what
Miami on the road in Miami. Like damn.

(07:57):
Like, like he's going to get a real dose of not the big 10
right is what he's going to get.So it's, it's, I don't know.
I, I just want to see it. I, I just want I'm in the show
me state of, of what we're seeing.
And I assume we're not going to get a lot of information out
because I'd assume he locks stuff down pretty hard as well,
too, where there's not going to be a lot of information out and
he don't really care about what anybody thinks.

(08:17):
I would guess based on his hires.
He don't give a shit what peoplecare.
I can tell you that. He he doesn't give a shit.
Let me ask this though, Bill to you on the the the thing that I
think I don't know how many of us were shocked by it, but when
when everything came down money wise, Are you shocked that
because the one thing you were concerned about, Oh, he's

(08:38):
grabbing another one. The one thing this is just like
a bar. The one thing you were concerned
about was like the money and it seems like the next three or
four years. That shit's in.
Did that shock? You, I mean you first of all, I,
I, I, I joke, I, I don't joke about when I say Phil has been
going to games since he was in his room.
His dad was an alumni. It was his alma mater.

(09:00):
It's Phil's alma mater. And literally he was going there
since, you know, But were you shocked that when everything
came down that the money just came rolling in?
I don't know if shocked is the right word.
Again, I just, I want to see if it's sustainable long term
because it seems like every program's throwing money at it,
right? Like shit, Cincinnati's

(09:20):
committed. I mean, no, what?
Not Cincinnati. Wisconsin's committed to
football now and paying money. Like everybody's committed to
putting money towards football because they realize how
important it is. So I don't know if shocked is
the right word. I just think that I don't think
people have been asked like Jay Pearson's been on the interview
circuit, man, he's been doing great.
And it's like he literally was like, it's basically like you
got to ask these people for money.

(09:42):
Like if the answer what I the answer's no if you don't ask.
And a lot of these, and it's egodriven too, like, hey, 20
million. Well, Mr. Anonymous gave 20
million. I bet we can give 22 million.
Let's do that. It's like there's some of that.
I'd assume that's a rich person thing.
I don't know, like I guess, but I mean, it's a write off how
they can do it. But no, I, I, I'm not shocked by

(10:04):
the money because I mean, Franklin does move the needle on
that. If we'd hired Chesney, we
wouldn't be get, I don't know ifwe'd be getting a $20 million
donation. Maybe we would, I don't know.
So what do you think, Ally? Is that something?
That's something you said two months ago about Franklin, Yeah.
Yeah, no, you got to be able to sell something.
They walk into a place and get money, like Phil said.

(10:25):
But it also has to be some results as well.
Like just exactly what he was saying.
Like you can throw money at it and people's going to be you.
You can sell somebody a car until that car don't work, you
know what I'm saying? Like you can look good until
that motherfucker don't crank, you know, and and and and don't
get, you know, you can't get to from point A to point B and you

(10:47):
can't put it in car shows. So why am I going to keep
throwing money at something thatthat that doesn't work?
So I thought Franklin or Shane Beamer would be the two that
could get the most money out of the boosters because they would
move the needle, needle in in the booster room.
So now he's doing what he's supposed to do with what I

(11:08):
thought he would do in recruiting.
But it has to translate to the field.
So that's what we got to like Phil said, it's, you know, we've
been hurt so much. It's a wait and see thing, you
know, yeah, it's great to get kids and bring kids back.
But everybody was excited about Pop Watson being a a hokey and
then he never played, so I can'tsay I don't get to cry to.

(11:31):
He he's he's got as many wins against UVA as drones does.
Yeah, that's true. It's like.
Very true. But I, yeah, I agree.
No, I don't. I don't know how we're going to.
Yeah, we, I don't know. But you, you, you got to win.
It doesn't like that's the wholething.
It doesn't matter who the coach is.
Like next year's tough, it's hard to win.

(11:53):
Next year's going to be hard to win, hard to win.
It's going to be is that 20 million coming in five and
seven? If the roster stood as it is
right now, I would say, yeah, it's going to be tough as shit
to win. But really over the next month
is where you're going to find out is people get moved out and
people get moved in. Because the one thing that

(12:17):
caught my ear during the press conference with Franklin months
ago, and he said it, he's probably going to use the portal
more than he ever has this firstyear.
And what that tells me is after tomorrow, 12 O clock game
tomorrow, that game's going to end about 3 or 330.
Be ready for them. It's supposed to.

(12:37):
By the way, if y'all didn't hear, basically all the Penn
State offensive line is decommitted from playing in the
bowl game tomorrow. Yeah.
And they put is that game tomorrow?
I didn't know. Tomorrow, Tomorrow.
When he. Said.
I knew the 12. That's sort of the thing, huh?
Oh. Yeah, we can get into that.
Oh, I, oh, we can get into that because it, it sucks.

(12:59):
Like growing up with it, like weall did.
We're all roughly the same age growing up.
Bowl games are awesome man. You see a team on national TV,
you know as you get older you have some drinks at the bar
watching them. Or in in the case of Phil in
1999, travelling to the Sugar Bowl.
Lucky bastard. We did do that on the train from

(13:19):
Charleston. That was really long.
Wait a minute. You took a train from Charleston
all the way to New Orleans. We did.
We did. Devonte, let's go there.
We. Go.
Let's go. Mr. Lester.
Mr. Lester. Mr. Lester.
How the heck are we drinking a little shine?

(13:46):
No, this is a running joke that y'all don't know about that when
me and Tally call each other, wehave a different middle name
every time we call each other. So someday it'd be Aloysius.
Aloysius. Aloysius is my favorite now.
I knew about Aloysius because Tally dropped that in the group

(14:06):
chat from time to. Time.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Another time it could be.
Cavazier he could be. Whatever you want.
You know, but we are since we celebrating the it's the state
of the program, right? All.
Right, so we're going to go a shot of shine, a shot of two XO
and a little bit of simple lemonade.

(14:29):
There we go, gentlemen. How?
How the holidays, man. Oh man, beautiful man.
Got my whole family here except for my daughter who's over in
over in Korea. Wife's doing great, kids doing
great. Have my have my JMU kid here
with me. He talking trash you know.

(14:49):
So it's all love man. It just came from the gun range.
Well, I'm telling you. That.
Sounds like Christy. That sounds like my kind of
Christmas moonshine and gun ranges, Curtis.
Was just asking us kind of how we felt about everything, you

(15:10):
know, money coming in, state of the program, things like that.
From a parent perspective as well as a fan perspective, how
you what are you thinking about?Because feel brought up a good
point. He's like next year is going to
be is going to be tough. We got a lot of games that we
got to travel to. So James Franklin is going to
get introduced to a rough schedule.

(15:33):
The money coming in is helping. You know, the recruiting is
helping. But as far as where the program
is, how you feeling about it? Well.
As a parent, I'm excited becauseI came here to win.
You know, so this being this would be my third year in the
program. My kids had a, you know, y'all

(15:54):
know, red shirt year and then had a medical year this year.
So I'm I'm just about winning and I think that's huge for for
him and I think that's huge for the program.
There's no other fan base in thecountry that deserves the winner
more than Virginia Tech. You know, we're loyal, we're
faithful. We going to pack it out.
So I'm excited about that. As a parent, I realized that

(16:17):
every year it's a one year, it'sa one year contract.
Every year they sign it and you know, they get another year to
have the ability to play football and finish education.
So I think this is the best yearfor any kid in our program
because you're going to have theeyes of the entire nation on
you. You know, last year when Bill

(16:39):
Belichick went down ACC, everybody was crazy about UNC.
Everybody wanted to see him. Everybody wanted to talk to him.
Well, we get our version of thatjust on a bigger level because
he's won on the college level. Bill had the, you know,
nostalgia and the, and the prestige and everything that
came along with him went in NFL,but he didn't do anything in
college. James Franklin was no matter how

(17:04):
much as we follow on next, you know, the Penn State crybabies
over there talking about oh, he sucked.
He was just that in the third. You know, we we tired of going
six and six. We would love to have multiple
10 year season, 10 year win seasons.
We you know what I'm saying thatwe burn the whole damn city down
if we had ten win seasons again, you know what I'm saying?

(17:26):
So all this oh ho, you know, he's he doesn't win the big
games. A lot of people lose the big
games. Amen.
Truth be told, you know y'all can flog me later, Frank.
A lot of games we talk about Danny Cole caught it right and
all the other stuff. We we lost some damn games.
You know I I just had my taste over with Miami a couple years

(17:47):
back. So you're going to have the
entire country's eyes on you. Everybody's been humbled and,
and everybody, you know what I'msaying, from Big Bang James to
Brett Pryor, who I loved and I'mglad he's back to the guys, to
the guys who got fired and foundjobs elsewhere.

(18:07):
Big shout out to a man, Elijah Brooks, finding a job down at
USF. Shout out tomorrow.
Yeah, shout out tomorrow. Going out to Colorado.
Everybody's been humble, man. And so I think these kids are
going to finally get some of thethings they've always wanted.
Being coached extremely hard, tough being able to have to go

(18:30):
up against guys that are at their level because we've been
sprinkling these kind of guys, very few sprinkles, but we've
been sprinkling these kind of guys that you just got in this
20 in this 26 class. We've been sprinkling them in.
They're going to be able to bring in that, that real top
tier 3 star, top Tier 4 star. Damn, there some five stars

(18:53):
because in my opinion, we got a couple five stars on this roster
that, you know, 247 kind of missed out on Jeffrey Overson.
But you know, so I'm excited, man.
I'm excited, looking forward to just like you guys are.
Hey, man, you know that kid, youknow you know that guy, But you

(19:16):
know, you know, I'm just ready to get it started, man.
I'm ready to start lying. I'm ready for the portal.
You know, I'm I'm I'm ready to start lying, bro.
You know, as as as you have me on tape saying that we would be
11 and one. I'm I'm always lying.
I'm never thinking we going to lose until we until it happens.

(19:36):
But I think the talent level is about to be ratcheted up.
Then it's just going to be to the point of the intensity and
them understanding that they arethey are trying to be the the
new big deal. They're trying to be you don't
make the most noise in the ACC. This year.
We're trying to get back to where we are, the team in the
ACC to talk about right up therewith Miami, right up there with

(19:58):
Clemson, right up there with anyof those teams in the ACC.
And when we talk about that like.
I think the, the biggest thing is that James Franklin has
raised the profile of the program right out the gate,
whether we're talking about national media and all this and
we, we've said it for multiple years, like the national media
wants us to be fucking good. They like it when we are good.

(20:23):
It's good for their business because they they like to be
able to promote a not even an underdog, but a team that's like
flirting with greatness amongst these other blue blood programs.
They love to have that storylineand they know that this program
is capable of doing it. We've shown that we can do it

(20:43):
before. We just have to have the right
person at the top of that team to get us right.
And I feel like James Franklin is doing a good job so far.
Obviously the proof is in the pudding until we see some games
we just lying, we talking and all that stuff, but at the same
time we're seeing some facts coming along with them.
Lies. Yeah, not just not just the

(21:05):
right person at the top, the right people at the top.
What Phil was talking about earlier when he's talking about
Jay Pearson, like why we just now hearing from him?
People like that have been wanting to be involved in the
program and get out here and make a difference.
But it's hard to do that when you don't have a script to
follow, you know what I'm saying, when you don't.
And no disrespect to Brett Pryor, he just didn't know.

(21:27):
He didn't have the he didn't have the balls to go do some of
the stuff. He didn't have the, you know
what I'm saying? He didn't have the body of work
to do it. James Franklin does.
James Franklin got fired and wason game day the next the next
week, you know what I'm saying? So and people was making fun of
us saying, oh, Virginia Tech thought he was going to come out
and say he was, he was going to Virginia Tech the next week.

(21:50):
He ain't going there. Like everybody in the media was
making fun of it like it was a joke, like we couldn't get him.
We wasn't good enough. We didn't have enough money and
then he's there. So I'm going to throw another
question. I got to throw this to Robbie
because you know, we do got AD line coach on the on the program
right now. With the with.
The D line coach being hired playoff coach, we know his

(22:13):
pedigree. What do you think about this
high with Coach Chaos? I honestly, I think it's going
to be a good thing. I I've always been AJC Price fan
and just going to different directions, going to add a whole
new dimension. So they've gotten so much out of
coach Price in the last few years.

(22:35):
And I mean, I don't know the whole situation of of how things
are going to play out with that. But I mean, he's going to add an
expertise of guys that he's already put in the league, top
rush players and things like that he's produced over the last
several years. I mean, it's just going to, it's

(22:58):
going to draw people in there because those kids are going to
play for a coach like that that has shown those has proven those
things to put those kids in places like that.
So I mean, that's just going to it's going to up the profile of
that whole defensive line, whichI wasn't sure it could happen
tremendously from where Coach Price was building to anyway.

(23:18):
But if you can manage to keep Coach Price in the program in
some way, shape or form and thenadd Coach Chaos there to it, I
mean, it's going to be one of the strongest points on the
defense and. And with him, it's the proofs in
the pudding. Somebody on Twitter the other
week tried to say this guy was just terrible when we were here.

(23:41):
This is a Penn Statement, by theway.
They might be the saltiest ass fan base right now.
I mean, without it's not even close.
It's not even close out. Salty.
But but but but they're sitting here.
But they're sitting there, but they're sitting there trying to
say he wasn't that good of a coach when he was here.
He's really not good at A&M. It's like A&M is like second in

(24:04):
the country in sacks and I go, Iget bored.
They're they're first, Phil, they're first in sacks.
You're on mute, Phil. You're on mute.
I thought that's what I saw. He said some bitch, he bowed
some bitch in case y'all didn't pick that up.
Either way, that's. A penalty.

(24:25):
They are elite. Elite.
They are way higher than Virginia Tech was this year.
Yes. In way higher last year.
We were good last year. Let's talk about this though.
So like the big, the big thing that I'm looking at with chaos
is that if you look at his the body of work from the output of
his units on top of what he is able to recruit.

(24:45):
I don't know if it's that, if there's a better combination
defensive line coach in the country of being able to recruit
at that high level plus get output on the field, he gets it
out. Absolutely.
He gets it out of them. That's the whole piece.
He he's got who up the talent level that he has in that room.
He will. Extract every.
Every single Oz And you see thatbecause worse he's ever had is

(25:08):
like 30th. His first season at at Penn
State they were 30th. That wasn't 14 coming off all
the shit. They were 30th.
Right. And then they were, they hit it
while he was there for what, five years, Six years they were
like they leaded country twice. They were top 10.
Two other times they were been elite down at A&M.

(25:28):
So if you bring in talent, he's going to get it out of them.
He's going to get them drafted. I mean, it's the selling point,
right? I mean, Robbie, you had a
four-star defensive lineman. You played four years.
Ago. And it's like.
I mean, if you, if you look back, if you look back at his
record too, and it's he's not just recruiting guys that do his

(25:51):
thing. He takes guys that do things
well and he teaches them how to enhance that.
It's not just a specific guy that he brings off the edge and
does one thing like he develops them wholly, whether it's an
outside edge rush, whether it's an inside defensive player,
whether it's pass rush, whether it's a run game.

(26:14):
He develops all of that from topto bottom.
That's why these kids are going to play on Sundays afterwards.
It's not just something that he's putting on the field to
look good on a Saturday afternoon and and pay his bills.
I mean, he's, he's making these kids men on Sundays that are
better in their lives all the way through.

(26:35):
And I mean, that's, that's hard to beat.
He's a badass recruiter. I mean, he's definitely building
recruiters. I mean, that's what like all all
these guys are like recruiting and hitting certain targets and
areas. And it seems like it's like Aceo
making strategic decisions around here, making on what we
got to do. And hey, this has got to get

(26:56):
fixed. But man, this is a mess.
Well, This is why we're going todo it.
It's like, OK, let's do it. I think the biggest thing that
he did is what he's saying by expanding your base.
We as Virginia Tech, we've looked for the most part in just
protecting Virginia. We may get a few kids out of the
DMV, you know, maybe a few kids here, he said.
We're going to be a national brand.
So by getting by getting Spencer, he can still go

(27:18):
touchdown those kids in Texas, getting the running back coach.
He can get Georgia and Florida. You already got your DMV in
Virginia. You've got with Coach Moore,
who's great at going in Ohio, West Virginia in those areas.
And if you can go ahead and and just be able to pull from all
those different areas, you're going to build a collective of
kids that you're going to bring in here that are going to be top

(27:40):
notch and be able to be iron sharpens iron on a regular
basis. That defensive line room is
going to be crazy. I mean, as you saw this year, we
had guys with the will to do it.We just didn't have the guys at
total. You didn't have a bona fide pass
for sure, as you had years before with APR.
Ben Bell played his ass off. He played as hard as he possibly

(28:01):
could, but there's only. Sometimes.
Too hard. Yeah.
Sometimes. Too hard, yeah.
But but you want him to go as hard as he can, man.
And that's what he did. So you turn around now you're
going to be able to get different kids that they touched
in Texas or touched it, A&M kidsat Penn State, they want to come
down and play. And so now you're going, you're
going to be dominant. And as much as we may want to

(28:22):
bang on Coach Pry, you know, theone thing he can do, he can
coordinate the defense, man, he when he coordinates the defense,
they are, they are elite. And so you get his get his
homeboy back with the D line. God willing, we may be getting,
you know, a secondary coach herein the next couple weeks or so.
But the talented kids that we have now are guys that we

(28:44):
haven't had before. We haven't had like that before.
You've got guys that you could turn around and cut loose.
You've got a JoJo Crim that's going to be able to come back.
You got you got Josh Clark. I always call him Jay Cinco
because that's family for me. So Jay Cinco will be back.
You have Q Reddish, you have Jordan, you'll have Jordan Bass,
who'll have another year in the program playing safety.

(29:07):
Remember, he was a Pittsburgh playing linebacker.
This was his first year playing, you know, over the boundary
safety. So it's going to be a new year
for him secondary. It's going to be much improved.
Go go and get a couple more running mates for for Coldplay,
because as as good as he was, wecould move him around.
He needed somebody else to help him get it done on another one.

(29:29):
Yeah, it's got to be 1 of Gillumwas in there doing his thing.
But you got to have some guy, other guys that come in and do
their thing. So I'm excited about that.
Let's let's talk about the prop thing.
Go ahead Robbie, finish it off if.
He I was going to say, if he, ifyou get an interior defensive
lineman like Copeland was putting that last year, when you
put him on the field, people go,OK, we're doubling that guy.

(29:52):
We'll figure out if somebody can.
One man. The other one.
Now when you can put two of themout there or rotate a group of
them out there, you it's hard tofigure out who you're going to
double who you're going to take away because the other one's
going to hurt you one-on-one. Absolutely.
After, after that Cal game, the whole world knew.
We all knew he was good. There was, you know, echoes of

(30:13):
him being that. But after that Cal game, Whole
World said OK, we're going to double him.
Who else? The year.
Can win one-on-one and. That was the proof.
That was the proof the game he had, he had shown flashes
leading up to the middle of the season in the Cal game and a
give credit to JC of how he usedthem because it was three tech,
5 tech and one of those he was his big 290 LB butt was out at

(30:37):
the nine tech coming down, whichI I always wonder what an
offensive lineman thinks of thatbecause normally it's like
A265275 guy and it's a 290 LB guy with a quick step that's
going to go. Right in your chest.
Yeah, and right in your chest. Strongest.
Strongest. I don't.
Know what? And Yep, and that's the thing.
Because. Like we, we, we saw the flashes,

(30:58):
right? So like we saw that, you know,
he had this big play ability as an interior defensive lineman.
What we hadn't seen up until thestart of this year was how how
he looked consistently over the course of an entire season.
We had seen the flashes and we saw as he settled into that
position, he started dominating the line of scrimmage and he was

(31:19):
dominating the line of scrimmagethat like Robbie alluded to and
like some of y'all alluded to that didn't really have another
guy out there that was a target. So it's it's easy to take away a
guy to a point on the interior because the double teams are a
little bit easier to handle. When you can move him around in
different positions and get get guys on islands where you either

(31:42):
got to commit a running back to chip on him or something like
that. It gets a whole lot harder to
take that type of player away. You give him a running mate and
you can still move him around indifferent spots and you know,
shift before the snap and thingslike that.
You can get really dangerous with what with what you can do
at the at the defensive line. You probably could have been
even more dominant last year. If he doesn't tear his pack.

(32:03):
If he doesn't tear his pack withhim, Aeneas.
Might be, yeah, yeah, you're right.
But it but it might be one of those, but it might be.
For like. Chaos coming in and Franklin
coming in. It might be the blessing in
disguise because I think as goodas he is, I don't think he's
there. He's not going to get on draft

(32:24):
boards above like 5 or 6. He's just not.
They're going to probably say goback one more season, finish
your time off, which benefits us.
It probably benefits him becauseof like what Robbie mentioned a
little while ago with, with withCoach Chaos and how he can adapt
a guy like that. So that's the big piece.
But I want to kick back because we talked about Brett Pryde.

(32:44):
It's got to be discussed. And yes, we have discussed it,
but again, we're at a bar, we'rehaving drinks.
Join us if you'd like. Hey, there's some seats at the
bar, so if y'all hit the QR code, there's a link in the
chat. Y'all want to join us at this
bar? Talk a little shit, feel free to
do that. Hey, I want to add 2.
You got plenty of room here I. Want to?

(33:05):
Do that like have we and, and tell me I've had a few beers.
Have we had a time where we've had a dominant or at least above
average defensive tackle and an above average defensive end at
the same time? Yeah, we had like in Powell,
like in our who else? Who am I?

(33:25):
Who am I got? A newest people.
We just didn't have nothing around.
We didn't. Have any linebackers right like?
Check this out, check this out, check this out.
When you go look at the numbers from last year, this year we
had, I think we had 19 sacks or 17 sacks.
You see the 1719, I have to go look, that was the whole year.

(33:48):
Last year, APR had 16 sacks by itself.
Like half of them are in like 3 games or two games.
Yeah, so, so The thing is, and, and I've been waiting to throw
this out too, because so many fans jump on this now.
I'm always about good coaching, but I'm also about I want a

(34:09):
coach that can recruit. Every coach has to be able to
recruit because I've got to lookat Miami.
They're the best in the ACC, right?
Can we say that? Right.
How do you win? The fight.
Where's new king? Where's new king?
Get new king in the phone chat. Hear Tally say that.

(34:29):
Yeah, so Jay, so Jason Taylor istheir defensive line coach.
You know he was coaching before Miami.
In high school, Indiana, he was in high.
School, you know what I'm saying?
But what it but what it But whatdid he do before that?
Of course we everybody knows he was a great NFL player.
It doesn't matter how great you can coach if you got good

(34:51):
players. I think last year everybody on
his defensive line was a all American or all ACC player
across the line. You can't double nobody this
year. You go look at them and you get
deep in the games. People don't understand how big
of a deal it was for Jeffrey Overton to score a touchdown
against Miami. Oh yeah.

(35:14):
Their defensive line is one of the best defensive lines that
you ever going to see. Like Ruben Bain is a monster.
What's the dude? Mr. Door is a monster.
The other. Everybody on the their lines
are. Always next, dude.
They had Tyler Tyler Baron last year.
So this is the thing that's that's a NFL line that they
have. It doesn't matter how good of a

(35:37):
coach you are, how bad of a coach you are.
If you line those dudes up, they're going to go eat.
Now, if you do have a coach thatcan go, if you do have a coach
that can go and get more out of them and they can coach them up,
You know what I'm saying? Because JC has been working
with, I say bubble gum and and bow and arrows.
You know what I'm? Saying come on man, come.
On Yeah, we got to get kids. From, you know, whatever and and

(36:01):
no shit, no disrespect to them, but like some of these kids
ain't NFL guys, but JDC got a lot out of them.
If you can get a coach and you got the money to go and pay a
kid and get them into the program and say, hey man, we
just want to be a stepping stoneto get you to the NFL because
you know that's where he going. Like Tyler Baron was like Ruben

(36:21):
Bane was like Mesador. We got to get those players.
Once we get those players, like you can get the coaches, but you
got to get the players. This has got to be, it's got to
be a training ground is what yougot to say.
This is where it's got to be. And it's like, so I've got a 2
sided question of that. And so like one, do you think it

(36:43):
was an advantage for Jason Taylor coming from a high school
setting, having to I'm not saying high school kids are
dumb, but they're dumb. Have them to dumb down sometimes
on defense to simplify stuff to be like, hey, like in ChatGPT,
explain it to me like I'm an eighth grader.
Like do you think that helps coaching Miami's ultra talented

(37:03):
dude, 1 and 2. Is it harder to get like a five
star that's always dominated people to like take that
coaching then versus A4, the large three star.
So tell me, tell me I'm like Robbie I.
Didn't want you to finish? Go Rob.
Yeah, go, Rob. Yeah, I was going to say, Robin,
let me say something. Let me say something.

(37:24):
Then you can finish it up. When I when I say I'm going to
say a dog wants to run with a dog, it don't matter where you
being. It don't matter how how you
being. Like when somebody looks at
Jason Taylor, first of all, that's a big motherfucker.
Like that's an NFL player. Him standing up with you and
talking to you, you're probably going to give him a little

(37:44):
reference. But from him knowing what he's
doing, like you got to have somekind of background to show me
that you know what you're doing. So when he's talking to those
guys, yeah, they want to go playfor him.
But also it's money. It don't matter.
But it's not just him. Miami has been able to go out
and get the best players becausethey were willing to spend

(38:04):
money. Go look at Cam Ward.
It didn't matter where Cam Ward went.
He probably was going to elevatethe team that he played on.
Who is The Who is the officer coordinator at Miami?
Do anybody know without Scan Dawson?
I do It don't fucking matter. It don't matter but.
It don't. Matter.
It don't matter Carson and people talk shit about Carson
Bent. Carson Bent is a national

(38:26):
championship quarterback. Like you had Campbell then and
Carson Bent, right? Come on, man.
Robbie, let's go back to what the question he asked about you
as a line coach. Go ahead.
Yeah, it's it's one thing there with defensive line coaches too.
But like I've been in coaching for 20 plus years now.

(38:48):
I've been to these coaches clinics, I'm going to 1 here in
a couple weeks and Charlotte, the big AFCA convention, you
will see guys that have gotten into coaching because of who
they know and they'll bounce from team to team and team to
team because of who they know. And they can't teach their way
out of a wet paper bag with a flashlight in the pocket knife,
right? But when you can take a guy like

(39:11):
Jason Taylor, who's from from a high school who can take if he
couldn't recruit is that he was handed, it might not be.
They can make players out of them when you get to that next
level when they have that ability, or you can teach them
the little things to use that ability.
I've been tricking people for years thinking I was a good

(39:31):
coach because I've had spectacular athletes.
Live. Now you're live, just being
recorded. Cut.
Back, but I'm a bounce on what he says.
I think if you turn around, it'shard for a lot of elite players

(39:51):
like you. We've always seen like let's
just say basketball. Magic Johnson could never turn
around and be a really good coach, right?
You always saw that like MichaelJordan said, I could never coach
right because they just said things extremely well.
Jason Taylor walks into the room, right?
Like Charlie said, he's a huge dude, but he walks in there with
the pedigree of what he did in in the college, what he did in

(40:13):
the pros. To turn around and be a Hall of
Famer and then he just gets excellent talent, you know,
extremely talented players. And he's just teaching him what
what he knows. And then everything else he's
learned from all the different places he's gone.
Those kids are going to be like, hey, that's Jason Taylor.
You know, we can release YouTubeand seeing what he's done.
But the thing that Crystal Ball has done, he made it his number

(40:35):
one point to make sure the trenches were stacked and
loaded. He knew he could he could go get
skill. This is one thing I realized.
There are a ton of skill playersbecause it's pretty.
Everybody want to be outside, everybody want to had a ball,
everybody want to Juke somebody in space.
But the guys on the inside, that's where the money's made.
That's where the magic happens. And that's what we've been

(40:57):
missing here for the last three years up until Matt Moore walks
into the building and then you turn around and get this hall
that you get with James Franklinunderstanding building the
trenches is the deal. This isn't going to be a a much
better football team. I know we we we still haven't
talked touched on Brent pride. Let's talk about.

(41:19):
Don't worry about it, but. We got that on the, on the, on
the. Menu I don't we can talk about
Brent. Like Brent pride conversation
will last from now until the endof his career.
Like it won't last forever. And I saw the note out there.
Shout out to Kellen Gillum. Kellen Gillum Junior without
question because he was like thebackbone of this thing.
That dude walked in as a man, asa general, saw how things were

(41:42):
going, would not let the ship gototally off off.
You know, he would not let it bemutiny in that thing and let
that thing go off the rails. So mad shout out to him.
He will forever be a great hokeyno matter what the record says.
He will forever be able to walk in.
We don't walk in the Lane Stadium and get much love for
everything that he did. I love that kid.

(42:03):
Great, great dude, great let that guy but.
I feel like he started the comeback to Virginia thing.
Like it's OK to portal back and get used and people will
appreciate you. Oh yeah, come back.
Come back. I want you back.
It's like, oh, you're going thisplace, but we'll see you in two
years. Like, see.
Yeah. I think, I think he went out,

(42:24):
saw what it was, but he knew he could be great at home.
That was that was a big thing for us about being great at
home. And I think he saw that as well.
And he's been a great ambassadorfor the program and and for
everything good Virginia kid love that kid.
But going back to what say having continuity in the in the
office of line room haven't MattMoore come back?

(42:44):
It would have been great. I think it's what this Dale, the
guy who went down, it was Penn State online coach that went
down to Florida. Yeah, it'd been great to get him
because the guy has repeatedly put guys in the pros.
And I'm talking about not just in the pros, I'm talking about
top 15, top 30 guys in the pros. But to have continuity in their

(43:07):
room with Matt Moore and his teaching and his philosophy, I
think that's going to be an extreme boost to those guys you
right now have going into the season.
I think you had maybe 7 guys whocould play 7.
Like 9 played though. Say what am I right?
I said like 9 played though. That was the issue. 7 guys could

(43:30):
play, but nine played. You had to have 9, but we only
have seven. Hey, Chris, let me say.
Something real quick. About.
We'll say something real quick about Matt Moore and I'm.
Of the guys retained, there weretwo.
Some other guys would be entertained elsewhere.
But for the way he coaches, you knew what we were going to be
every single week, right? They're going to run the ball.

(43:52):
They're going to run the shit out of the ball.
That's what they're going to do.Because that's all they really
can do, right? To be to know that's coming and
to still have a guy that put a team top rushing.
I think I want to say 30, I'll, I'll pull it up here.
I've got it saved. But to basically have a top
thirty Russian offense when you know it's coming and it's not

(44:14):
triple option and it's not trickery.
It's like we're going to run theball at you.
And especially when you got someyounger guys playing and then
you have to bring 2 guys in thatprobably should not have been
playing. But things happen and things
people got to play. It's why you need depth.
But to say you could run the ball like that and basically

(44:34):
people knew, well, Angle really didn't pass the ball that much,
we stopped the run will be OK, Still be able to establish the
run and have that sort of output, It shows you how good of
a coach he is. And everybody's like, well, the
pass blocking stuff. Listen, Brian and Robbie both
played online. It ain't like turning the cap on

(44:56):
all you can just go out there and pass block any day of the
week the hell you can. I mean you, I mean you.
I mean, here's the problem. I think they had 10.
I think of the what, 13 of the 12 games they played.
I think they had 10 different, 10 different line UPS.
I think that's the number of something, right?
Right around that, that's. Pretty cool.
What's the problem with that? Whatever.

(45:18):
I mean. That's just how you drew it up,
Chris. Science.
Believer that to me, this is me.OK?
I felt like those guys gave extreme.
They gave everything they had this year.
They gave every bit of every everything they had.
Miami game alone, the Miami gamealone and how much we ran on the

(45:41):
on them. Like, like Callie said, like we
crushed Miami on that game, running the ball if we could
throw the damn ball. Listen, Aiden Lynch will be able
to go down one day and tell his grandkids, Hey, I, I blocked
against Ruben Bane. You know what I'm saying, man?
And, and you know, he whipped myass, but I held my own as much
as I could. You know, I, I just think that
you turn around, you take those kids from being thrown into the

(46:03):
fire the way they were. Some of the kids that we're
definitely probably going to bring in the portal and those
eight guys that we got cooking in the background, that's going
to be there. You're going to have what you
didn't have last year. There were times that they
couldn't practice, they couldn'thave full live practices because
they didn't have no bodies, man. That that's we are now
officially, I've always felt we've been a, you know, a

(46:25):
powerful program, but we're really official powerful
program, man. Trying to do some big things,
man. So I'm, I'm excited about what
Matt Moore and them are going tobring this year in the offensive
line room. I think those guys are going to
be better forward. They're going to be better
tested. 194 against Miami over 5A carry against that D line.
But like, if you look at Miami's, the, the, the rushing

(46:48):
yards, they've given up all year, nobody's done anything
like that. Nobody knew anything close to
it. Nobody.
Not even close. I mean, hey, I just wasn't
Hannibal the damn Hannibal in the house.
What's up, baby? There you go.
There you go. The crib is the crib.
The crib is the crib. The crib is the.
Crib. How we living, we good man, we

(47:09):
over here, we drinking. If I had the deck set outside,
we'd be smoking. But.
You know you got that that that Sure.
MV7 Plus plugged in Dan. Nah, man, it's going to take
some set up. Dan Santa Claus is good to Dan
on the podcasting front. It'd have been 1045 before I got

(47:30):
on here if I got home and tried to set that thing up.
What's up brother, What you beendoing tonight?
Man, there's many streets, man, Just out here outside doing my
thing, chilling. Hey now you, you having some
drinks with us? What you?
What you drinking on? I'm drinking some water.

(47:51):
I'm. Drinking water, staying
hydrated. What the hell?
That's smart. Hey, what the fuck is this?
What did you address? Something right quick.
Yeah, dress something right quick.
What are we addressing? Oh God.
Steve, Steve, Stephen Colbert orwhoever, 296 What?
His comment up. Yeah, I like that one.

(48:12):
The one before that. The one before that.
Yeah, yeah, fuck that guy. What happened?
I hope that he goes and coaches at the worst.
Middle school and his team neverwins the game.

(48:35):
Coach Montgomery coach like a different now again.
I bet it was tough, you know what I'm saying?
You have people leaving, you have people leaving the team,
you know, getting in transfer portal, coach gets fired, but
you accept the role of being theinterim coach.
Your job is to go and coach and you're supposed to be coaching
to get somewhere else for the energy that he put on the field

(48:58):
in the games that he won to the energy he put on the field in
that UVA game. He can go somewhere.
And I never got to see him coachagain.
I mean, we didn't have no half back pass.
We didn't do nothing. You didn't you never pulled the
quarterback. Like what do you have to lose?
The team is better than you and you got beat 20 to 27 to 727.

(49:20):
Come on, man. We we didn't do nothing.
We didn't even try to win the game.
And it was more games than that. But definitely I just feel like
it this just could be me and my feelings.
When James Franklin got announced as the coach, I think
he got to his feelings. He wasn't considered for nothing
and he coached different. We didn't even, we didn't make
no changes. We didn't do nothing.
But the UVA game pissed me off more than anything.

(49:43):
I'm cool with you losing games. It's a losing season, whatever.
You know it is what it is. But that UVA game for you not to
change anything up, not to go toa different quarterback, not to
give me any different plays. Well, we couldn't do any place.
Yeah, you can. You could have fucking hiked the
ball over your head and did a annexation of Puerto Rico.

(50:05):
You was going to lose anyway. Do something fucking different.
I'm just saying. So no, we are not giving.
We are not giving. Shout outs to Cole Montgomery on
here pitch. To Johnny.
You can't pitch to Johnny, bro. If you, if you and.
You know what? I'm a stern believer, if you

(50:26):
accept the check, do the job. If you ain't going.
Because there was a check. Don't do the job.
Yeah, maybe he knew he wasn't auditioning anymore.
He knew he'd failed that audition and his won't be the
key grip. Exactly what it.
Was. Yeah, but the.
Thing is like with that game though, you're right, it's like,
what can you do? Well, go, OK, all you're going

(50:48):
to do is get to four wins, go screw their season up, do some
wild things, change quarterback so.
OK, quarterback. So that's what y'all was.
Doing above all else, y'all justwanted to try to screw your VA
season up. That's all you and just try to.
Make a difference, right? So just just be a headache, be a
pain in the ass. Don't don't just don't just go
out there and do the same thing you did the last three weeks and

(51:09):
call it a day. Go out there and try to ruin
their season. If you got it in your bag of
tricks, I need to see it on the field.
That's what that game should have been about.
There was no reason to leave anything in the bag.
There was absolutely no reason to leave anything in the bag in
that game because you didn't have nothing to play for except
to screw up what they had going. And we just went out there.

(51:32):
We did what we. Did I was 4 for 16?
I don't think we, I don't think we brought another quarterback
with us, right. We just had.
Him no, no, no. We, we had, we had, we had, we
had a couple of quarterbacks. There weren't.
Oh yeah, there there were. That that was.
Go ahead, Chris. I feel like you're about to say
something. I think I think this is so

(51:53):
awesome. Go ahead, Chris.
This is Tate, I have a vested interest in this.
Program. And and, and, and I got one on
tape that that I'm probably like, I had to eat crow about.
All I'm saying is this. We can all speculate from what

(52:18):
we saw that he may have gotten in his feelings, but you got to
think about it. There was some things that he
got dealt to him that he that hehad no idea that he was going to
get dealt. So I'm always going to have love
for Monty because for me personally, this is just me
personally. He didn't have all the weapons

(52:41):
that he needed to make this thing go.
And there were things above him that he could not move to even
get people in place to be able to run to run his system, run
his system. So you got to look at it.
He turned right. He wasn't going to get get the

(53:01):
we love Karen. And we were just to the point of
he wasn't able. We were saying the online did
have his efficiency and pass protection.
And that's that's a different thing that you got to end up
having. If you can't pass protect, it's
hard for a guy to get the passing game off.
So. He adjusted his offense to the
best that he could do and I knowTally just wanted him to go out
there and do some damn little giant shit so we could try to

(53:24):
just be be a thorn in UVA sides, but it all worked out in the
end. It all worked out in the end.
UVAUVA got a big egg on it and get big stupid face plant for
for losing the Duke. Everybody get a chance to go
get. Everybody watched it.
Everybody. Watched it to the end.

(53:46):
We thought Duke was trying to give it away.
They didn't. And guess what?
Man, it all worked out. This cross we got James
Franklin, they all know we're about to have all the recruits
in Virginia back. So salute.
We're not going. We're not going to hate Monty
forever. AC just always delivered.
The only thing I will say is that, you know, like, don't.

(54:06):
Coach A Kick a tan High school. This is a guy he already killed
Monty. At this point, Monty had already
taken the six shots, right? He had already taken the six
shots. If I'm going out, I'm not going
out with any bullets left in my clip.
That's all I'm saying. I just don't think he cared not
I don't think he cared about thethe rivalry.
Like I don't think he gave a shot.

(54:26):
I don't think he. Did not get it some of the
playoffs. The rivalry and that Miami game
the week before was like that was we were all in on that, like
everybody. We were all in, all in.
And then UVA, there's a let downand they and UPA is good this
year. Better than us, not going better
than us. That sucks to say, but they're
better than us. Fuck, but Mike London won their

(54:48):
coach. They didn't fuck it up.
If Mike. Had been the coach this year,
they would have. Screwed it up.
Tony Ellen looked real funny coming into that locker room.
He didn't even look like a national.
For him to hold the CommonwealthCup.
We'll get that back that. You don't worry about he's like,
all right here. What am I supposed to do with my
hands? What do I do with my hands?
How do I hold? I don't know.

(55:10):
Don't worry, you ain't holding another trophy after that
player. No doubt, I guess.
I guess my thing, The thing is with Monty, like, yeah, he got a
hand dealt to him that he wasn'texpecting.
But at the same time, like, you took the offensive coordinator
job as a former head coach at a school with a hot seat coach.
So you knew there was a chance you might be running this thing

(55:32):
at some point. Now, it happened sooner than he
probably thought. But by the time we got to the
UVA game, and I work in food andbeverage, I have several staff
members under me. I am the boss, but I tell them
the number one rule in food services.
If you don't give a fuck, act like you give a fuck.
You can't let them know you don't care.

(55:52):
And that last game against UVA. It looked like.
Shit, I'm about to be out of here.
Like it. Just, you know what I'm saying?
Like you. Did can't cool it all three, 123
can't. Cool.
I mean they filled up 3/4 of that stadium.
Good for them. Ten win Team 3, Forceful 3.
Forceful. Look at the way the damn ACC

(56:13):
championship game. That's pitiful shit.
The ACC needs to learn from all these other conferences.
You feed your big horses. And now when I stay by that,
hey, they're about to win this game.
No, they're not holding on the offense.
They ain't winning this fucking game.
They not win this game. I feel like the ATC should go to
campus tights. We're associated.

(56:34):
Happened to us. Last year, I guess.
Yeah, we apparently we do not have plot armor, Curtis.
We do not have plot armor. Yeah, they at.
Least not yet. Well when you fuck up and lose
the Vanderbilt and Rutgers then you don't get the benefit of the
doubt. Hey, whoa, whoa, whoa.
We lost twice. Twice.
Don't. Forget Purdue, Vanderbilt was
solid. Man.

(56:54):
I wanted Pavia in there. Pavia.
No. No, that was 23.
Purdue was 23. I know we lost to them too.
Like that's hard. Purdue, Rutgers, Vanderbilt.
Like shit, throw in I. Don't know.
Yeah, you don't get plot armor when you're losing to Purdue and
Rutgers. I get that.
Let's talk about how the Purdue game was the fucking worst game
that I've ever been a part of. Well, who else was there?

(57:16):
Me, Curtis and Tally was there. Who else was there it?
Was. Because.
I. Remember I posted a picture of a
dude in rain boots and said whathe thinks gonna be a monsoon or
something because it was sunny and said and then I had to
retract my. Statement they said you know
what? Delete that tweet and apologize.
Definitely was a hard time it was.

(57:38):
That that bro looked at The Weather Channel way before
anybody else in Blacksburg looked at The Weather Channel.
Because I I thought there was going to be some rain.
I didn't think it was going to be a damn monsoon come.
In. Hail standing in standing in
South ends on getting hail pelleted on us while we're
trying to wait this thing out. By the way though, I was
thinking. Of hey, hey, hey, but I can say

(58:00):
this, me, Brian and Tally, he has the best seats I've ever had
in a game. Oh yeah, we had some great seats
at the end of. That, yeah, y'all were down on.
The 40 like. Two yeah, we're down there with
Darlax, man. Yeah.
Well, if that thing that it got much worse though, I would have
put one of y'all in the game. I got I got 10 snaps left in me.

(58:21):
I. Was thinking I got three.
I was. Thinking about my two of my knee
feeling I ain't got nothing. I don't even know if.
Kylie's got the size, they're pulling out the stands.
Man, shit, I don't know if I gotnothing left.
Yeah. When was the Mayo Bowl last
year? Was it a week from Like, it was

(58:43):
like it was. We're a week away from it,
right? It was.
Like the 30th. Yeah, the 30th.
So we're sitting. We're sitting in Charlotte,
Kyron drones is coming back lastyear.
We're we're we're looking forward to it at that point,
right? And little did we know, there's
a rumor that Bo Buila was tryingto come to tech and we ended up

(59:04):
going with Karen, allegedly. This is the rumor that it's been
around. And now you think about it, if
that would have happened, if Karen would have left, we would
have went with Beau. We never would have got the
money and we wouldn't have JamesFranklin.
So I think it's crazy how. Shit, we we don't.
We don't know though. That's the whole.
Thing we don't know. What don't we know?

(59:24):
What? What we don't know if how we
would have went this season because I think in some of the
cases it was Brent Bride's mismanagement.
Well, let's talk about this now.I don't think as as bad as Kyron
was in this offense, it wasn't agood fit for him, right?
I don't think very many quarterbacks in the country

(59:44):
would have done OK with this offensive line, especially once
the injuries happen pretty earlyin the season.
I agree that's the problem. So you probably are still, you
might be one or two wins better, but you're probably, you're
probably not a bowl team with that offensive line, right?

(01:00:05):
Do we fire our coach in September and get the chance to
end up with James Franklin? And then probably not that that
that's that I I'm with you on that day and that probably you
probably are not firing your coach in September if and I hate
things. About Kyron Jones, because he's
a really good kid and it pisses me off that I got to critique
that man negatively because I love him and his family, but it

(01:00:26):
was not good. Dan, I stayed all the time on
this program. I wish Karen was an asshole
because it would have been really easy to to pull against
him and go after him. But we've talked to him a couple
times and Kevin, they are. They are.
He is a genuinely good kid. He's not an asshole, he's not a
jerk. He's a genuinely good kid.
His family are genuinely good people.

(01:00:48):
That's what sucks is because yougot to go critique and you got
to be again. Same thing with pride.
Same thing with pride. Oh no, no, it's true.
It's the same thing with pride. Hold.
On it's the same thing with pride.
We've said it like Tally time again.
It's like, that man's nice as hell.

(01:01:10):
That man's great. If you lead with a, he's such a
nice guy, is the first thing yousay.
That's not necessarily the best thing that I want to.
Ask one of y'all look like Gregory Hines on the air, tap
dancing around it because and that's and that's what we've all
done, because there is no greater Brent Prop fan than me.

(01:01:30):
And, and and and I love him withmy whole heart.
But at the end of the day, I've said it to y'all, I'll say it
out loud. Loyalty got him fired.
Loyalty got him fired. You got us to where we are in
general in the athletic department.
The whole thing. Come on.

(01:01:51):
The whole thing. Breach preacher.
The whole preacher? No.
I mean, how awkward do y'all think it was?
Go ahead. No, we got so.
Lucky, I think it was Brett probably get fired.
Brett probably got fired and say, you know, guys, I'm out of
here. It was a it was a pleasure
coaching you, you know, coaches, you know, it's great working

(01:02:14):
with you, blah blah, blah. And then players, coaches,
whoever do man, he wasn't worth the fuck.
He didn't do this, he didn't do that.
And then about three months later that motherfucker come
back through the dough. How y'all, how awkward do y'all
think that was? Well.

(01:02:35):
Hold on, hold on. Hold on, hold on.
I was. Tearing him up, I was.
Tearing him up, pull it in and ready.
One of our loyal listeners. He has pulled up to the bar here
first decked out in Philly, babydecked out in Philly.
We, we, we had the long conversation.
How does a Philly fan turn into a hokey fan?

(01:02:58):
He's like I, I was so and so years old and I watched Michael
Vick and that was it. And that was it right there and
ready. Appreciate you popping on with
the story. Bruce Smith.
Actually. Bruce Smith.
OK, OK. Were you in the womb?
You. Mean Bruce.
Real. Oh, that old.
Yeah, no. No I just looking all.

(01:03:18):
Right, that's AI from. And Andretti is on the on the
black don't crack path right there for sure.
Now I'm 45 man. Are you still young, Andretti?
Yeah, that's young. That do the baby.
All right, if. Somebody was about to get into
something here. I'm sorry dude.
I got no grain in this beard. Yet I just got one thing to say

(01:03:42):
to Tally, man. Y'all let Tally get away this
year. Tally was all for these guys,
man. Quarterback 1 He was, yeah, for
these guys, man. I've.
Seen it earlier on. These guys ain't.
I got it. I mean, I got to, I got to go

(01:04:03):
with it, Andre said. This ain't it.
Some of these coaches ain't it, and some of these players ain't
it. And I was like, man, get off
that ledge. You're going to be all right.
I was wrong. I am.
Now easy. Easy to say I was.
Wrong. Marv is about to get there on
fire from Colorado. I don't, I don't think.
I don't. Think Andre.

(01:04:25):
Andre. Trust me.
Nah, Marv's a little bit better what y'all think he is?
Dion does. Not need Marv he get fired I
don't. Need to hear more about that.
No, Marv, he's ready. Go ahead.
You give Marv the ability to focus on just his linebackers
and Marv's going to be a whole lot better off.

(01:04:46):
We would just talk about with Pry and all of those things and
I got to get up off here. So I'm going to leave this with
this. When it comes to coaching and
where I'm at, there's an understanding that you can be a
good coach and not be a good head coach.
You can be a good coach and not be a good coordinator.
And I think Pry understands thatvery well.

(01:05:08):
He's a good coach. He's a good coordinator.
He was not a good head coach. And that's what's going to make
it easier for him to step back in there because he understands
when those people are talking about he wasn't a good head
coach. He knows it.
He's been. He's his dad was a head coach,
his dad's a football coach. They know those things.

(01:05:28):
You can take their criticism andput it in however you need to
and he understands those things.Marv is going to be the same
way. He understood that he was in
over his head jumping in as ADC right then.
He's going to go back, he's going to build on the things
that he didn't figure out beforeand you're going to see him
again somewhere. It probably won't.

(01:05:48):
Be in Roxburgh. No, no, yeah.
What I'm saying as ADC, as ADC and things like that, he's going
to build his way back up. People are going to get it in
there, I hope. So that's a good dude right
there. Yeah.
He's a really good guy. We're just going to go with that
leaving. With a good guy like I don't.
But. I need an.

(01:06:09):
Asshole. Give me an asshole.
I need to. I need to hear the first thing
about me. He's a winner.
I don't care if he's a good. Person so many problems with our
program all over the place that like it's like I don't I.
Don't. Hey, the other side of that,
though, is what's going on in Michigan.
So I mean, you know. You mean the national

(01:06:29):
championship two years ago? No, I mean coach getting fired.
I'll take a national championship two years ago for
all that bullshit. Right now.
Right now, yes. I.

(01:06:50):
Would. You're not taking.
Going in the womb, he don't care.
He's been going to games since he was in the womb.
I don't. I look my my morals are
compromised. When they oh OK, this you honest

(01:07:12):
about it but once? We win that person Ezra
championship, we're going to go straight edge.
We're going to be fine. This how I look at it.
Come September, if we four and O, I'm going to see some dudes
streaking through the quad and I'm going to be like, I got bail
money already set aside for y'all.

(01:07:33):
I go to work and put the bail money aside.
I'll send you my number because y'all set the city on fire.
Chris said nothing but Dicks andtitties on the drill field.
Running out, baby, running out. I'm just going to be sitting
there screaming. Hey, man.
Hey, we by the way Phil, we havewent through that scandal once
we had Galen Scott years ago. Hey, I saw a I saw a

(01:07:58):
prerequisites for the Michigan higher and it was like the
requirements don't be horny, love football.
Hey man, you can't. You can't love football.
You can't, you can't love football.
Not be Hornets. Nobody, nobody.
You better hold it in from. The new.
If we. If we.
I'm bricked up about football. Let's go.

(01:08:19):
If we go through 2 back-to-back scandals and we win a national
championship and then we land onour feet with Kyle Whittingham,
I'll take it. That's true.
Everybody's coming to my side. The dark side.
Let's go. No, I mean, I'm desperate.
That's how that's where I am as a fan.
I'm so desperate right now to win.
I want to win. I want to win.
I want to win. I want to win too.

(01:08:42):
Long scandals come with winning. So you so you want to win bad
enough. You want to win bad enough that
the coach of the coach will cut itself with a butter knife.
Oh damn, here we go. Not win the National.
Championship Eagles did not win in that he was.
Up in there. He was, he was up in.
Something he was on. He was on.

(01:09:03):
Yeah, he was up. He was up in something.
He was up. A lot of something he.
Was up so, but nevertheless the unless they do get a top ten
class so. His whole family is calling it
for tickets and I don't have anytickets I got.
I got 4 Slims lines up. I don't know.
I got the gold package at the strip club, that's what I can.

(01:09:23):
I'm gonna let y'all guys rock that. 1.
Maybe we can get tried more as an analyst later.
How mad? Like I would have done the same
thing if I did something as dumbas he did.
I've been like, not keep me in jail.

(01:09:44):
Don't help me out, I need 2. Days that man said I'm about.
To I need a cool off period. I want the I'll take the
baloney. I'll take the pineapple.
I don't want to get out. I don't.
Want to get out? Can you imagine going to facial
wife? That's why he didn't want to get
out. That's why he didn't want to.
I don't want to get out and you extradite me somewhere.

(01:10:07):
Somewhere I I will not accept bond.
I'm not. No.
Nobody's posting bond. You've been posted bond.
Nope. Nope.
No, I've been posted bond. No, I have not.
Staying out here, a bunch of guard like I'm staying.
There that that is the deeper, darker conversation that we will
probably have on the chat line later.
Man, what about that? Because I that is it's not good.

(01:10:28):
I would never want I would neverwant that to happen.
That happened. In Blacksburg, No, no, no, no.
Sometime in that the. Crazy.
The crazy thing about the SharonMoore thing is if he would just
have come out the next day, didn't, didn't go sideways, and
he just simply said, Yep, I fucked up, I banged her, I did

(01:10:48):
all this shit. Yep, I'm a terrible person and
just walked away. Hey, first of all, the man made
some money the last few years, got a little money in the bank
account. Two years, somebody hired him,
somebody would hire him. Because he was a good football.
Coach. You looking deep in his face
what you think And he just came out the next day and said I made

(01:11:11):
a mistake. I'm talking to Jesus.
I'm talking to Jesus. I'm never going to admit to
anything I want. You to admit.
You got to admit. To it wasn't me.
It wasn't me. If Bobby Petrino could come with
the neck brace at the press conference.
Bro, if Sharon just showed up ina neck brace, it'll all been

(01:11:34):
good. I'm telling.
You fine. Listen, at the end of the day,
it is one of the biggest fumbles.
And I don't. Remember in, in, in history.
Oh yeah, in history. That's that's the first thing
one of it's the biggest. I I said no, no, it's.
It's been some. It's been some others, but we're
not. The Baylor want to kill somebody

(01:11:56):
or like how to cover a murder upor.
Something back back. Brian Kelly did.
You go back to it. At the end of the day, had he
got there, said I'm going to go talk to Jesus and walked away
for a little bit, he'd probably be coaching somewhere down the
road. But that's not the problem we're

(01:12:16):
dealing with. Let's deal with the fact of the
matter. Yeah, that's.
It was the fact that matter that's it was the fact that
matter that we've had the most humblest coach we've we've had
something that's unprecedented. A guy get fired, get fired at
the place he was at all right. And then three months later,

(01:12:37):
he's exonerated by being the most outstanding guy to help us
get probably the best coach we've had since Frank Beamer.
Let's just deal with what what what Prague has to deal with in
his situation. Let's deal with that.
Let's deal with that. I like the fact that my head
coach and my defensive coordinator both have a giant

(01:12:58):
chip on their shoulder to prove they get the like.
Prague is to come back and and write his Virginia Tech ending
the way he wants it to be. Gets to continue to write that
story. And there's some people.
Talking real sick about him so I'm sure he got some points to.
Prove. Yeah, me, Franklin.
I wouldn't. Prove if and me.
Can y'all can y'all imagine the first time that defense gets

(01:13:20):
scored on? Well, I was said by Brett.
Oh my goodness, Twitter going togo crazy.
Especially if it's the first possession against VMI if we
play. VMI.
Yeah, yeah, we about to. It's about to.
I. Agree 100%.
Chip on your shoulder. 100% I agree, chip on your shoulder.

(01:13:42):
The best work I've ever done is when somebody thinks I they I
can't do it. Yeah.
It's 100%. Like I, I will be like, you tell
me I can't do it. I will.
OK, let's go. Franklin set this up in the
press conference, though. You've seen this coming when he
when he, he said good things about the program.

(01:14:09):
Yeah, we don't get that, Man without Pride said.
Come here. Yeah.
Jay Pearson's done interviews and he said, like, he called him
and said, hey, Brent. And he didn't call him back.
He said for like a week or two weeks.
And he didn't call him back. And he said, hey, if Franklin
comes here, you're going to workwith him.
And he's like, yeah, sure. Well, let's go.

(01:14:30):
I would not. Yeah, like, of course like just
you deal with the awkwardness atfirst, so for.
James Franklin, I don't know another defensive coordinator.
We could have got this better for him.
No, like being real. Let's.
Let's talk about another thing. Too throw a lot of money.
If you're going to throw a lot of money at a defensive

(01:14:51):
coordinator like Penn State did,and he doesn't do it the way
James Franklin wants it done, guess what's going to happen.
You're going to lose. James Franklin seems like a guy
that's got to have people that he knows, that knows how he
works and knows the type of guy that he.
Is it'll look different? Yeah, it'll look different.
He looks like a he's all he, he,he has to have the trust.

(01:15:11):
I think. I mean, when we look at it too,
man, when we look at the experience, that pride reigns
from a court and. Brian, Brian, Brian.
Thank you. Oh, you're welcome, man.
You're welcome. You know what?
That's why I left. That's why I left him man.
But but on on prime, man, like when we think about the
defensive coordinators outside of Bud Foster that Virginia Tech

(01:15:34):
has had, has anybody else had the caliber and cachet that
Brent Pride is bringing to the table from a defensive
coordinator standpoint? Nope.
Not. At all.
So at at this point we're sayingthat Brent Pride from a resume
standpoint is the second best defensive coordinator Virginia
Tech has had ever made. Well, it wasn't just, but

(01:15:56):
certainly since Bud Foster. Yeah, it wasn't Jay Ham.
No, no, it wasn't Jay. Ham Foster.
Well done now. But but the but the whole piece
is with the pry hire. It's like if James Franklin had
taken any other job in, brought Brit pry, people would have all
over themselves like Oh my God, he's bringing it back.

(01:16:17):
Greatest, greatest great. That is a great.
Point I think. The other thing it says about
Pry and we talk about good guy, I truly think he actually
fucking gives a shit about Virginia Tech like he actually
wants that's. Undeniable, he's still.
Denying it because he was there when it took off 30 years ago,
he was there. He was there.
He loves Virginia Tech. He loves it.

(01:16:38):
He loves the place. Look how when they left and he
left, there was a picture of a box of shirts.
When? I love this.
Yeah. Well, remember, I just remember
when when they said that pride turned down Arkansas defensive
coordinator in Mississippi Statedefensive coordinator, I said
that he's going to come be our defensive coordinator because

(01:16:59):
you thought I thought originallyhe would be an analyst or
something. But when he turned the DC jobs
down, I said yeah, he's. Going to be a prat time Part 2.
Let's go. But the other thing is you want
to talk about a reckoning story or like rewriting your rewrite
your own, you know, biography orwhatnot is what we're talking
about about 365 days from now. Because Phil, like your point,

(01:17:20):
like we're going, oh, he's goingto get roasted on the socials
when they have bad games. Absolutely roasted.
But if you're sitting here at the end of 2026 and it's like,
God damn, we won nine games. The defense was top 20 in the
country. Higher.
Higher. I would I would love to know

(01:17:41):
what people and it's so early toknow like what other teams are
going to do. But with our again, our schedule
is brutal. Next year, brutal.
Otherwise. Brutal.
So travel wise, travel wise, it's it's a, it's a upper half
schedule talent wise, but it is a awful schedule travel wise.
Are we taking hold on? Who do you all want off to know?

(01:18:02):
Who do you all want off next year, VMIODU or JMU?
Because one of them's. Gone JMU.
I want a showcase VMI game. I want VMI out in the showcase
game first game. I don't.
I don't want JMU off the schedule because right now JMU
is the best home game on the schedule next year.
They would draw depending, well, depending on what it's on, I

(01:18:24):
don't know. But I'm saying like from a match
up standpoint, everything else that is right now the best home
game that we have on our schedule next year, that's a
fucking problem. You know, he's talking about
from a John Ball standpoint. No, no, no, I know what Brian
said. He's saying from an eyeball
standpoint, JMUVT is like a pinpoint game for people because

(01:18:48):
they made the playoff. Virginia Tech is basically been
the best team in Virginia in thelast 30 years or so.
I know what you're saying, it's the eyeball thing.
If we played JMU, Spencer, CoachChaos was the defensive color
writer from Florida. He was a huge scapegoat
apparently. And that Gators team, they
blamed his ass for how bad theirdefensive line was.
So now he'd be playing against his old coach and fired his ass

(01:19:11):
like I. Maybe.
JMU cut VMI like that's that's that's the world we live in now.
The JMU is a better draw than whoever else we got we.
Give the flagship. Go ahead, Dan.
Go ahead and say it depends on what the ACC schedules us for
SMU, right? I think we're going to have a
prime time Rd. game, first game of the season.

(01:19:33):
That's what I think. Yeah.
But but my point being like lookat have you looked at the home
schedule next year now that Brian hit a button?
He gone. It's bad.
The home schedule is bad. The home schedule right now.
BMIODUJMU, Virginia. Georgia Tech.
Pitts, Stanford, BMI, Old Dominion or JMU will get cut.

(01:19:54):
Somebody check on Brian for me? I don't think it'll be old to
you because we already cancelledthe series, so I don't think
they're going to. It's going, it's going.
JMU is going to be the one that's going to get cut, but I'd
rather play JMU. I'm going to tell you why I want
to be the flagship program in the state.
I want to stay claim on the state so I want to go play JMUI,

(01:20:15):
want to play JMU now, OK. I want to smoke JMU now before
they get the opportunity to get strong OK again or get or be to
the point. I want to smoke Jmui, want to
beat ODU and I want to be UVA because that's the only way I
say I'm the best program in the state.

(01:20:35):
But we're going to probably cut the JMU game that's kind of
that's been out in the in the ether.
Their AD has said that about it.But I want to play JMU.
I want to pay JMU more than anybody else.
BMI is going to be, you know, a 65 to nothing game, You know,
just getting guys tuned up. I want to be ready because I got

(01:20:56):
to turn around. I got to go to Maryland.
I've got to go ahead and play ODUI want to be at my best man
because the goal is the floor is9 games.
The floor is 9 regular season games.
That's the floor. That's the floor.
Hold on, hold on. I'm I'm saying this from the
point that I don't think this isa barren program with no talent.

(01:21:23):
If you're if you're. Looking if you're I'm, I'm
looking at 9 games, I can win 9 games, regular season games, I
can go get a bowl. I've already booked.
Man, I booked rooms for Charlotte every God damn year.
Let's. Go every year I book Charlotte.
Let's go. I book Charlotte every year.

(01:21:44):
That's home for me. You know I would love to go
home, but I'm just saying I bookCharlotte every year so I'm
expecting midnight diner baby. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
What happens at midnight? Don't everybody don't get to
know Dan. Come on, you got to be in a.
Circle to know that. Yeah.
But what I'm saying is when it comes to the flagship thing and
people talk about JMU, it's likeI always look at like if we want

(01:22:06):
to recruit or JNU wants to recruit, who's getting that
recruit? Yeah, yeah.
So there you go. I don't care if we play.
I know. I know what Chris wants to do.
I think he wants to squirrel stomp them and just put them.
Into a GM like. Back in your place.
I'm where you are you. Are not here, you are here.
Listen, I have, I have one of mysons, you know, one of my

(01:22:28):
adopted sons plays the JMU, OK? Our motto was always this, I
want you to have a great game except for when you checking the
kid and as long as you don't getthe band played on you, I don't
care. That's our motto, OK?
I give him hell all the time. My whole point is I want to be
JMU, I want to be Virginia, and I want to be the ODU because we

(01:22:49):
are the flagship program of the state.
That's it. That's how it's got to be so.
You know. I think that's the one cut
though. Well, they're going to cut it,
but why that one? If they're cutting it, is it a
financial cut? Is it no.
No, no, we got 13 games because. No, no, no, no, I get that.
But of all the games, why cut cut?
VMVMI said. Come on, VMI's a joke.
It's shut up the moments on the.Board and So what what we're

(01:23:12):
saying you. Know where VMI is but playing
VMI is a joke. Fuck.
Fuck their coach analyst on our team mate.
Let's let's talk about somethingelse though.
No, no, no, no, no. Look at this guy.
Hold on, hold on. Wait a SEC bro.
Look at the schedule if that happens, if that happens, then
you are going to likely get it'sgoing to be a road game.

(01:23:34):
No, I don't think they'll give us road.
They're going to give us a wholegame.
That is you. You don't like if I would love
to get JMU at home and take SMU on the road first game of the
season or whatever, you're goingto showcase James Franklin
against somebody other than VMI,right?
Like you're not going to put James Franklin's first ever game

(01:23:54):
on ESPNACC network like X like against Vemmy like that ain't go
key. That's go moments on the Mori.
But fucking get get the key. That's a home game in Lexington,
so I can rent my place out. I'll give you a discount.
I'll give you a discount if you come stay in my place.

(01:24:17):
I'm just saying what's probably going to end up happening.
You're going to play VMI, but yeah, get get that dub out the
way and start off from there. But I mean, let's, let's be
honest, you turn around the end of September, if you're 3 and
one or you're 4 and O Blacksburg's on fire,
Everybody's running around, titsout, running, running the quad

(01:24:40):
because we've been one way. Yeah.
I mean, it's going to be, it's going to be crazy.
Not me, I understand. But I mean, you know, hey,
shameless as it might be, hey, go and get it out there.
Get. It.
Out. There, but that's what you're

(01:25:01):
looking for. You're you're, you're trying.
You're trying. To get can they?
Put that on a. Couldn't they put that anywhere?
I think that's what. But what?
Well, the whole thing also is that, I mean, look at the home
schedule right now. So if if you if you kick JMU off
the schedule, your best home game the whole year is going to
be Brent Keys picked apart staffand roster.

(01:25:23):
No no no pit Georgia. It's going to be the best game.
It's. Going to be that's going.
To be. A Oh my God.
It's always a game. I mean, I think what you want.
I want to fuck this burger. Fucking man, I'm I'm never going
to get. Picked so 100 points.
Also, James Franklin hates Narduzzi.

(01:25:45):
So yeah, it's true. It'd be fun to Dick shit
Narduzzi for sure. And the thing with James?
You is Bob. Hollywood Bob is going to take
that roster or whoever he wants to LA.
He going back to Cali with big. And you know what?
I'm. Saying so like.
A Napier is probably going to bring in something, but either
way I don't know. And ready what you got.

(01:26:07):
Port on the day. Anybody enrolled in early?
For us. Those guys get up here.
A Lot of those guys are we have, yeah, we had a lot of that said
they were enrolling early. I'll give you, I'll give you,
I'll give you. I know, I know two aren't aren't
enrolling early. I know one is enrolling early.

(01:26:30):
I mean, but, but, but I mean, I but even even what you talk
about for us when you talk aboutthe other 26 kids.
Yeah. Listen, I'm, I'm going to be
totally honest with you. You ain't going.
To see none of them. You're not seeing those 26 kids.
The 26 kids aren't going to be the factor.

(01:26:51):
I'm going to be honest with you,The factor It's going to be your
portal kids. You mean the running back?
No, no, no, no. Not with Overton and Hawkins.
Hawkins might be a Ford, but like he's.
Not going to be somebody else, but you want so many of them.
Autumn Lineman. He's still selling and he's

(01:27:11):
getting these kids to come. You're going to sit on your
you're going to sit for a year and he's still coming.
There's going to be I'm just pretty damn impressive.
I would have a lot of respect for that.
I would have a ton of respect for that.
If you can sign this class and y'all like y'all are going to
sit. No, but it's not.
So it's not so much that a kid comes here and sit, says hey,
I'm going to sit. A kid comes here.

(01:27:32):
I, I, I just got one, a kid comes here and he realized it's
the difference between playing high school ball and playing,
playing college ball. The speed is the speed is
different. And if you don't get there in
January, it's going to be hard for a kid to be able to get out
there and start like if everything.
Is a bad thing. When I say sit I don't think

(01:27:53):
that's a bad thing. Like red shirts I love that.
But the kids mindset I assume isnow I'm the best.
Like I'm not sitting. Shit no and and they can want to
be the best, but when they get there on college and they
realize classes getting up extraearly, I ain't there to wake
your ass up to get you to go to fucking what are you supposed
to? Get you?
You got to be on time, the speedof it and there's 3-4 other

(01:28:16):
guys. It's like fuck you.
I don't excuse my French, but wewe together, we drink it.
Fuck you. I don't care about your stars.
It's a different speed and they got to accommodate to that, and
they don't accommodate to that till spring ball.
They don't get it till spring ball.
OK. And so once they get it in
spring ball, then they start realizing, oh, I can play The

(01:28:37):
only place where you can see a guy maybe playing early this
year, Mickens can probably do it.
He's going to drop a little weight.
He's going to get leaner. But man, what we fail to
realize, man, is Jeffrey Overtonjunior didn't have a whole
offseason. And we're at we're at an hour
and 28 minutes into this broadcast.

(01:28:59):
Jeffrey Overton, junior did not have an offseason and he still
look like that. Of all the.
Kids that signed in that class, I was more I wanted, I wanted
Jeremiah Deloach, I wanted Jeffrey Overton Junior.
Those are my two guys. I had to outside of my green run
kids. Those are the two kids that I

(01:29:20):
wanted to have come and Jeffrey Overton Junior.
Stone Bridge, right? Who Overton?
Overton was at freedom then he went to.
He went to hate. He went to hate hay field and
they had they. Had that had all that bullshit
happened? There you go.
You said that I didn't as long as you said.

(01:29:41):
It there was a whole lot of bullshit.
Yeah, yeah. But.
He was. The most he was he was the
Gatorade player of the year and he was the only guy that I
believe deserved to be the Gatorade player of the year.
Outside the kid that I fed for the last 10 years of my life.
He is everything in a bag of chips I love Jeffrey Overton

(01:30:02):
Junior. He kept his red shirt too.
FYI. Everybody he kept.
His red shirt. Hey Let.
Me tell you this, let me one onename to keep an eye on that
might have some impact in 2026 from the 2026 class out pretty
soon. Wiggins.

(01:30:22):
I'm not even going to say Wiggins.
I think Wiggins could play, but Tyson Harley to me, just because
of being a situational pass rusher, indeed, that and he's
already got the body to, to, to play at this level.
Indeed, that's the guy to to, tocircle because guys that are
just pass rushers can get them to feel early, just like a
cornerback and get them to feel early, right.

(01:30:44):
Same type of deal. Tyson Harley.
Circle the name, Yeah. Beat this drum.
Beat this drum. The whole portal.
Beat it. Damn.
I know. Like we got a class coming
that's going to be great and we got kids staying.
That's cool. But if people, if talent wants
to come, like Peyton Lewis, takethem, I don't care.
Like if you good enough to beat them out, beat them out.

(01:31:06):
If you're not good enough to play, then you can figure it
out. It's a slippery slope though.
That's. A That's a crowded room.
That's the problem. It's a crowded room.
What a crowded room. I wouldn't have a problem with
it. Well, we got 3.
Runs right now, but yeah, you just can't get people to come
because you got to pay them. Like, bro, you got to be
strategic with where you put that money.
When you get a kid that's been in the SEC, even if they're not

(01:31:27):
playing, they're getting paid a certain amount of money.
Most Phillips got paid. I ain't in his house, but he got
paid a certain amount of money. Missouri.
He got paid a certain amount of money to go to Missouri and sit
on the bench. All.
And we couldn't use that amount of money, you know what I'm
saying? We couldn't just prioritize the
line. Hey, hey, so I'm I'm going to
say I'm going to say this name to you, Dan me and you haven't

(01:31:50):
talked offline on this. See if you're going to bring in
Peyton, Peyton Lewis, you're forgetting the fact of the
matter. You got Cam Seldon on your
football team and Cam Seldon is totally playing himself out of
his position. I'll say that out loud.
Cam Selden is trying to become awide receiver.

(01:32:10):
He's a four, three guy who can fly.
I I'm sorry man, if we. Was running back in Tennessee,
right? Come on, come on, come on.
So certain people get help. Yeah.
You know, if if you go back and look at the numbers, Cam Selden
was like second in receptions. Curtis is Curtis is a stat guy

(01:32:32):
because Sheldon ain't here. Cam Selden is like second in
receptions because they wanted to get the ball in his hand and
be able to get him to use that 43 speed.
I'm telling you, there are some things that are going to happen
in this. You got Mickens, you got you got
Overton, we got Hawkins. We going to have a couple other
guys going to running backroom that y'all ain't expecting.

(01:32:55):
Well, how's this offense? How's the offense going to be
different? That's I guess that's my thing
'cause it are all fine to spend like I.
Don't know how the office is going to be different.
The fucking line. Well, the.
Line's going to improve. The line has to improve for the
auction to. Be improved and a border board
starting. But he's bringing in a pocket
passer like he's going to. You bet the line that'll be.

(01:33:18):
I don't know if it's a true pocket passer.
It's going to be somebody that can throw from the pocket with
wiggle. It's not going to be a true dual
threat if you if that's what we're talking about.
Spit on it, Brian. Spit on the mic, Brian.
Spit on the mic, Brian. That's it.
Yeah. You're you're you're going to
nobody you're getting. Broke up.
Both are dual. Hey, here's here's here's here's

(01:33:39):
the biggest thing you're going to have what time you're going
to have a, you're going to have a full time.
Coach something that. Kyron didn't have and that's
going to be a big boost to that guy.
Sure you got full time, but if our offensive line.
If. Our offensive line struggled to
pass block last. Year and we're.
We're going to get that much. Better that we can pass block
this year that quick. That's my concern.

(01:34:02):
Did you see this running the transfer portal?
Anybody. Just today XX is in. 2525
billion. Dollars.
You. Bringing Chaplin back.
No, but great. I mean it.
Was. Around a program with rent rod.
Pays him? I hope so.
But was quarterback. I mean, quarterback went like

(01:34:22):
that, man. Come again?
I didn't hear you. I'm sorry bro, quarterback ones
going to be somewhere between like. 1 1/2 and 3 1/2.
Not, not a lot, OK. That's the market, that's.
The market. I shared.
This with some guys that I love. And I know.
I'm Chris remember we streaming live FY right right pulling back

(01:34:45):
this new town and the XO's is. Hidden right now if if if you,
if you. Get you pay 10 million.
You change this. Football team forever.
You change this because you go. Get 4 offensive.
Lineman and a quarterback, you've got enough skill pieces
around you that you'll be able to be super Uber competitive in

(01:35:06):
in this year. You're going to, you're going to
pour you no, no, no. If you spend 10 total if you
spend. 10. On offense for underlying and a
quarterback, you already got a four-star.
Tight in on your roster? Already OK, he might not be able
to block work for damn, but he'sstill a four-star guy.

(01:35:27):
Hey, hey, I'm just saying, you know, can I say something?
Too. Go ahead, Chris.
I don't. Mean to jump in over you, but
like. One of the things that we're
going to see with a Tahal offense is we're going to see
that tight end get some work right.
So if you so we have we haven't had anybody that's been.
Able to really dominate the middle of the field since Daquan

(01:35:51):
Law, Daquan right, left to go toOle Miss.
You go and get that guy that candominate the middle of the
field. That means you draw more one on
ones on the outsides and you give me a Aiden Green and you
give me somebody else on the outside that can run one-on-one
routes. I know that kid.
Yeah. Yeah.
So you know what I'm saying? Yeah.

(01:36:12):
I'm. I'm, I'm yeah, so.
You'll be OK, but if you turn around and go get 4 offensive
lineman and a quarterback because that quarterback you get
is got to be a one year guy and then you got to have a backup
guy who can go in. God forbid something happens to
the number one because your future is hewn.

(01:36:33):
That's your future. Yeah, Hume, Hume is your future.
And and you give him a year inside the system with a with
with. With DOB.
I think we'll be fine. That's just an act of if there's
an act of God where you can finesse probula and grump to
both, you can. The thing is, you can do it.

(01:36:55):
The thing is you. Actually can do that.
You're going to. You're going to.
You're going to you're. Going to over.
You can, so that's probably 5. Million for.
For two quarterbacks. Right, you're going to overpay.
You're going to overpay for yourbackup, right?
Right. But you know what?
I'm a fan. Hold on, I'm a.
Fan of the San Francisco 40? Niners, we have the highest.
Paid backup in the league. You know what?

(01:37:17):
It's benefited us this year. You pay your backup.
It's the reason they paid pop. Last year it was stupidity.
We didn't play him some this year because the kid deserved a
chance when it proved the offense couldn't work correctly.
And the whole thing is you pay your back up because if that
guy. Goes down.
If it's prevailing Grunk and mine, let's say that's it.
You pay Privula 3, you give Grunk 2 and there's 5 right

(01:37:40):
there. Do you have any fear if
something happens to prevail like this year?
He screws his leg. Up we're going to be.
OK, Yeah, we're going to be OK. That kid can play too.
The question is going to be, though.
Hold on, wait a SEC. Hold on, wait a SEC.
Hold on. Just for you, Dan, Hey.
Sam. Levitt, Sam Levitt, Quarterback

(01:38:01):
I. Had to do it.
Sorry, Andre, it's an inside visionary season is a Sean
Levitt, Sam Levitt fan account at this point.
Oh, Andretti jumped off Anyway, what I what I was going to say
though, is that you got 5 million tied up in in two
quarterbacks. The question is going to be, is

(01:38:22):
Grunt Meyer going to want to come to Blacksburg to be a
backup? That's the question that that I
think needs to be solved. Because if if he doesn't.
He's already tasted what being astarting quarterback in the Big
10 is light. Is Grunt Meyer going to want to
come to Blacksburg to be a backup?
I think you tell regardless of the money, I think he's telling

(01:38:44):
me the chance to compete. For it.
And if he if he fought? If he doesn't.
Get it? He still.
Has two years of eligibility to.What?
Can't happen in the spring. What can't they do anymore?
Transfer. They can't transfer you you.
The way I feel about James. Franklin.
And talent staring at. His phone, I don't know what

(01:39:05):
he's reading. He's been reading for like 6
minutes, so he's reading something important.
I feel like Franklin's that typeof guy who lays things out and
will sell to whoever he has, whether it's one or two guys,
and he's like, this is how we'regoing to do.
You're going to compete. The best guy who's going to win.
The best guy is going to win. But you've got multiple years of
eligibility. You come in here and compete.

(01:39:25):
I'm going to see you every single day.
You know what's likely going to happen next year?
You don't get that $1,000,000 pay moment.
You don't go to three. Not at 2 anymore.
But you got to sit with me this year too.
And there you go, my biggest. Question on Franklin.
Is how he manages all this. Nil money he.
Had a ton of NIL money at Penn State and if you listen to that

(01:39:48):
apparently audio that leaked audio, like they got top five in
L money at Penn State. How do you manage that and how
not so much how do you manage like who you sign, but how do
you manage the locker room? And like somebody gets this or
somebody gets that because thoseWest Virginia guys like that
Steve guy, the rumor is like he's like they just offered him

(01:40:08):
more money and Frank's like that's above our pay skit for
that freshman. So I'd be interested to know how
he handles that because he's never jumped with that.
So, but you got, you got to understand what he had in that.
Room. He had three NFL guys.
Out the gate, Nick Singleton, NFL guy, right?
Katron Allen, NFL guy, one of his touches, right.

(01:40:30):
Drew Aller, NFL guy, right. And so you turn around, the
piece that they lost was Todd Warren.
And the outside guys weren't ready.
They didn't they wouldn't get Pena from Syracuse, you know
what I'm saying? They didn't have any outside
guys from the throat of football.
So that that kind of really, even though this was supposed to

(01:40:52):
be a senior laden team that theyhad, they didn't have any
outside guys that could really, you know, be able to enhance
Drew Aller. And Drew Aller went from you go
back and look at his numbers from his sophomore year to his
junior year, his junior, he was excellent.
He was just trying to take the next step up.
So man, this is just, this is just a chip in a lot of

(01:41:14):
different households, including mine.
It's chip on shoulder season, man.
It's chip on shoulder. You know, I got fired wrong.
I got stuff to prove. You know, we're sitting here on
the 26th, you know, we drinking and January 2nd is going to be
going to be Christmas again, because you're going to be able

(01:41:35):
to see, oh man, that that's going to be that's going to be
crazy. Man, that second is.
Going to be. Crazy.
You know, some of us going to have most of y'all, everybody in
this room going to have their mortgage paid and everything
going to be straight. It's going to be a lot of folks
trying to get the mortgage paid on the second because it's going
to be a lot of folks who's goingto enter into that portal and

(01:41:55):
it's going to be a lot of different things.
It's going to pop off. That's going to change the
fortunes of this football team in a different way.
And so many reports, man, early reports the North Pole is that
portal Santa is in the best shape of his life.
Yeah, he he, he is shape. He is shape.
We want to we're hearing some. We're hearing some as many as
like 18 plus Penn State. Guys ready?

(01:42:15):
To ride over to Blacksburg, but I would be absolutely floored if
we get a huge exodus of Penn. State.
I hope I'm wrong and I want to be wrong.
I would be floored if we get a huge accident of Penn State to
Vt. What's huge?
What's the number? I had AI, had a dude tell me.
You know, you know he a food service.

(01:42:38):
Guy he, his number was 44 guys, 44 guys, he said.
Food. Service guy.
Hey. He said total 40. 4 Four guys in
the portal from us for us, we were going to have a flip over

(01:43:00):
of 40. Four guys.
When we. When he hit, when he when he
went through the numbers, not me, I was just doing the math,
but when he went through the numbers, it's like 44 guys 4 out
out out of how many? Hold on, what's the roster?
Right there we got 100. We got 105 guys.

(01:43:21):
We. Got 100 five guys.
We got 105. Scholarships.
I was graduating. Yeah.
Hold on. Wait the.
Biggest The biggest complaint? That I heard on Penn.
State guys was they were so. Pissed.
Off that, Franklin gave Liam Clifford any nil money at all
because his name is Liam Clifford.

(01:43:42):
Is that why? And they were.
Like why are we paying Lee and Clifford to come back?
To be a a number. Five wide receiver.
That was their biggest complaint.
We are 44. We are looking at 44.
Chris and I broke it down when Chris, Hey.
Hey, hey, hey, hey. We broke it down.
It wasn't crazy. It wasn't crazy.
It wasn't crazy. He was he was spot on.

(01:44:04):
Wait 44? So like more than half our
roster down. James Franklin does.
Not like them. Yeah, that's like Judge Williams
when he came in and was like, no, you suck.
What? The hell.
All right, so. Half the offensive line is gone.
Got it? Cool.
We know that. No, no, no.
See. See what we're what we're
missing is we're not looking at graduating.

(01:44:24):
Guys, well, that's our question. How many we got leaving?
Yeah, that's like 15 or 20 by themselves.
That's like, that's like. Half of it, OK.
We're walk ONS, are we losing walk ONS that we're walk ONS
that aren't getting there's? Technical.
That that that's the exercise for y'all to do off of this.
Podcast. No, we're going to do it right
now. I'm going to pull it up.

(01:44:44):
No Curtis. No, Curtis.
Don't crunch the numbers right now.
No mad, don't press the. Numbers, Curtis put.
It in ChatGPT Put it in ChatGPT that we.
Could do. Hey, Curtis, you don't want to.
Have that tape, but I'm telling you.
You got about what when me? When me and me and Dan did it,
we were legitimate. It was about 44 guys.

(01:45:05):
It's another 24 guys on this, onthis.
So we're talking about 20 Penn State guys and another 2015 to
20. Coming in from the portal
elsewhere, y'all y'all are y'allcounting the graduates?
Because the. Guys who?
Graduate. I'm not counting anything.
We were count. I was.
Counting kids I would keep from our team that's still in

(01:45:29):
eligibility. Yes, Nomad.
OK. And then you add hold.
On here We Go, Brent Clatter. Bra.
Yes. Oh.
Yeah, keeping. Them.
Are we just doing the rundown? We just started at the top doing
the rundown. Don't do that, Curtis.
That's not good. That's that's.
That's not good content. That's not good content.

(01:45:50):
Eight guys are coming to tech. I think that's a more relevant
question. You said, you said.
What's #20 You said 20 What's? Temper do you consider huge.
Bill. I think 20 would be incredible.
I really do like. We had. 31st off we had 30 guys
leave last year. You brought 30 guys in last

(01:46:10):
year. The caliber of guys that you
brought in were not the caliber that you had on this team that
left. Can we say that?
Can we can we say that and not be in trouble?
That does happen on a three and nine team.
That is the team. So so that math.
Is Matting. That math is matting.
So if you bring 30 guys. In that.

(01:46:32):
Are 3343 to four-star guys higher?
You can bring 30 guys in. I would prefer to bring in more
kids that are not from Penn State in the portal because to
me that shows more influence andrange from Franklin than just
because you're not going to be able to go to the Penn State.
Well, every year you see what I'm saying?

(01:46:52):
So, right, although to his point, he's probably not going
to be going to the transfer. Portal.
Well. Heavy.
Like he like he is this year, every year.
So he doesn't have, he doesn't have to like this year.
He can lead on Penn State because he already has that
connection. Going forward, he's going to
have to be pulling guys from other places. 16 left Penn State

(01:47:13):
last year. 8 went to Penn State last year.
He is not the big. He is not Dabo Sweeney basically
saying one guy, but he is looking for very specific the
best teams. The best teams build through
high school. Absolutely, initially.
Initially you can have a spark, a portal, but.
You better. Build through high school,

(01:47:35):
right? We were able to coach them up,
so you've got to be able to get 22 to 2022.
To 28 kids in high school every year to keep your team building
through high school. But this year will be the
exception because you have 25 kids that were in the that were

(01:47:55):
at Penn State that you're going to draw from, you're going to
have 20. You know, you don't have those
kids you're going to be bringing, right?
So this should be an extension. This should be an extension.
Right this year is. Like a gutting out he's going to
get rid of right the what's whathe doesn't feel is.
Worth, he feels like. Trimming the fat.
He's trimming the fat, he feels like.

(01:48:18):
Yeah, right. Trimming the fat.
He's getting rid of what he feels is worthless.
But I'm going to say. This.
Real quick, I'm. Going to go back to Brent Pry
real quick. Yeah, We got to go back to
Brent. Now I want to talk about Brent
for one reason, because when we sat on.
This program. Four years ago, that wasn't
pretty. Four years ago I was really
drunk. Really drunk.

(01:48:40):
Not like this year, I'm sober. This year, but.
If you look at where we are. As far as it goes.
Recruiting. How it wise and all that
internally? How much?
Better and I'm looking. At Tally and Brian because we
talked. About because four years.
Ago, we were drunk. We were.
Mad. We were six and six.
We had 520. We were in the garbage dumps,

(01:49:00):
but we look at our talent and itwas just like, God, it's, it's
no talent here. We've burned all the bridges.
We started reading the stories. Every bridge burned in the
region, every bridge burned in Virginia.
And then you started looking at the talent and everybody's like
when, when, when, when Brett came in 2022 and we won three
frigging games. It was just.
Like, oh, this team's terrible. This is horrible.

(01:49:21):
He's a horrible coach. And it's like, no, not really,
because we started looking at how many of those guys went pro,
how many of those guys went to other teams and succeeded.
Little, right, little to none. And then I.
Look at the roster. This year and you see guys like
Noah Chambers play. You see, Jeff?
Overton junior play you see a guy like Kalor tuner who ungodly

(01:49:44):
I mean Brian you played D3 that kid is a red shirt freshman
starting as a center and he played pretty daggone good yeah
I feel like where we were four years ago to where we are now
just. Talent wise.
In that building is significantly higher.
And I don't. Know if anybody?
Else feels that way. If somebody doesn't feel that

(01:50:06):
way, then say it. We need to get this guy on here
because he's saying no Devil dogs where?
Where's he at? Where's he at?
I'm drunk. I would agree.
Though shout out to pride for that and and Franklin even said.
Like he resurrected. Like he brought the Virginia

(01:50:27):
back into Virginia Tech with that because Fuente gave no
fucks about Virginia. Like I could say that.
I could say that he could coach up a first quarter and a half,
but I mean, he didn't give a shit about recruiting Virginia.
So Brent Pryde, Richmond, TX Brent Pryde got.
A a rent he got. A shell of a house.

(01:50:49):
When he came here, sure, absolutely.
Brent Pryde had. He got very few PP five guys at
that time on his roster. Brent Pry in the two years in
the three years he was. Here.
He has his 20, his 23 class, his24 and his 25 class have

(01:51:12):
Division 1P4 talent. What James Franklin is going to
do on a on a hyper level is takethat talent, boost it up, give
it accountability, make them getthem coached hard that the
majority's kids want to and thenadd to it that.
It's going to be iron. Sharpen iron What?

(01:51:35):
What James Franklin's going to get compared to a?
Brent. Pride got is night and day as a
football team there we're talking about 40 kids.
Well, James Franklin's also how many X times better of a head
football. Coach right, but but but but and
and and and besides that of him being a being a better HC.

(01:51:58):
But the thing about it is that the evaluation of talent that
he's going to have to work with,he's not coming bare bones.
You got to remember, Belichick turned around and brought in 70
guys to the portal. We're talking about 40.
Yeah, Well, well, excuse me. Dan's talking about 40 to 44.

(01:52:19):
Dan's talking about 40. It's alleged he.
Got a homeboy? That might agree with him, but
there's 40 that yeah, you talk about 40 kids too.
But is it, is it harder? Because I don't think it's
harder to get people to come to Blacksburg.
Than Happy Valley. I don't think there's much
difference. Well, no difference is going to
be who you're making play it against.

(01:52:41):
Yeah, I only know one. I only know one family that has
a hard time. Deciding between Blacksburg and
Hampton Valley sounds like the Poindexter family is who it
sounds like let's know know who know who's on the.
Staff know who's on the staff. Well, you got one regardless.
I, I I only know one family thatdidn't want to deal with.
Ice. Cream and bowling all the time.

(01:53:03):
Anybody else? They got their own differences.
I only know of one family. I can only attest to one family.
But at the end of the day, Blacksburg, Blacksburg is just
different. Blacksburg is.
Home Blacksburg. Blacksburg.
Will always be home. I'm, I mean, I'm a Carolina guy.

(01:53:25):
I'm I'm, I'm, I'm Michael Jordan, you know, I'm Jimmy
Black, Carolina guy. OK.
And if anybody knows who Jimmy Black is, they will understand.
I'm a Jimmy Black basketball guy.
I've been a Carolina guy my whole life.
Whole life. Famous Amos Lawrence was my
favorite football player from Carolina.
But I'm a hokey because I love this program, what this program

(01:53:48):
brings. So we'll be OK.
What's going on? Nothing much.
How are y'all you drunk? What are you drinking on?
What you drinking on? What drink Coke, man?
Woodford. And Coke.
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Woodford occur that's.
My guy. So what you got?

(01:54:09):
Go ahead, go ahead. Bro I was going to say what you
what you got. For us.
Hey. It looks great.
Man I I enjoy. Everything y'all doing?
Here and everything and I've gotit going.

(01:54:31):
Hey, man. What?
Kind of shirt you got on AlabamaInternet.

(01:54:58):
That's. Fine, no, But the Internet's
great. The Internet's great.
And two. That that me is is is hidden.
So I got the got the drug. Working for me, but no, man, I'm
just taking everything in. I mean everything that's being
said, I'm kind of I mean it feels, feels tags as it all show
me, you know what I'm saying? Like we probably need to come

(01:55:20):
back after the portal is open and we get the, the, the guys in
and, and come back and reconveneon this state of the program.
Because we don't really, this isthe state of the program in
December. You know what I'm saying?
The state of the program in January is going to be totally
different. We still haven't got, we still
haven't got the real, the real players that we need to come

(01:55:43):
back. We haven't got those running
backs yet. You know, there's still some
running backs that we got to getin.
That's still the portal guys that we got to see.
We need to know who our quarterback is.
And I'm telling you, you got to go get 3 to 4 office alignment
to go out here and you got to win eight games.
You got to put that much money. To put that much money as you're

(01:56:05):
putting in that program. You got to win 8 to 9 games.
You got to tally. There was a yeah, there was a
text message you dropped. That that had the.
The run it. Backs, you need to see hey, hey,
hey, hey. I ain't going to drop no names.
I'm just saying I'm not dropping.
No names, but I know I. Know the names that Tally needs
to see before you feel feel likesomething.

(01:56:27):
Noah Chamber. Come on back, baby.
Yeah. Anybody from the DMV?
Gonzaga. Demand any of those guys need
the Keelan Adams run it back stat.
Where's Emmett Laws at? We he was.
He. I mean, he, it seemed like he
did some stuff for us. And we never seen him again.

(01:56:48):
Man, I love Emmett, I like seeing him.
I like to see him. Yeah.
Any kid that takes the train 5. Hours a day.
Just to go to a better. School to make it out.
Has. He built different, no doubt.
No doubt that's like 30 for. 30seventually like in the NFL.
And this is how we started. Like 100% what happened to him.

(01:57:13):
I know it's a lot. Well, South Carolina.
Wasn't worth the fuck. Is #1.
So we thought South Carolina. Was a much better team than they
was. So when you started going into
the season and then we looked like we were OK and then wheels
fell off and then the coach getsfired, A lot of different things
happened. You know, some kids, I mean, we,

(01:57:35):
we're not going to say some kidsdidn't say some kids because
like, you know, I need to hold off and see who's coming here.
Let me see what's going on before I go out here and waste
my eligible, you know, waste my eligibility.
So I think stuff like that kind of happen.
Yeah. Give me 4 starting.

(01:57:55):
Offensive lineman in the portal and a couple death pieces.
Yeah, I think that that's you got to start building in the
trenches. Whether it's running backs or
whether it's. Portal like that, when you look
at the way winning teams win consistently is that they were
consistently good at the line ofscrimmage on both sides of the

(01:58:16):
football. If you spend 5 to $6 million on
a starting offensive line in theportal, that's the best 5:00 to.
$6 million you spend it. No, no, no.
You said offensive line put 5 to6 billion.
Dollars on both. Sides of the lines you spend 4
million on the D line. In the offensive line, you.
Will be significantly. Better from jump because you

(01:58:39):
need 2 edges and two DTS regardless of the running backs,
Yeah. We need some.
Demons on. The.
On the defensive end side, go get me, go.
Get Me 99 from Penn State. Don't get.
Him, 99, from Penn. State you.
Ain't got to look it up. He.
Said say the name, so I don't. Get him.

(01:59:01):
Are we getting Hollywood? Smothers.
I saw that we're we're trying toget Hollywood Smothers.
Like you're kidding me. I was shocked.
I'm telling. You I don't need a Hollywood.
Smothers agreed. That's why I'm shocked.
I don't understand. I need 6 months.
Jeffrey Overson. Junior on a rehab.

(01:59:22):
Hollywood's mothers line is whatwe need, not.
I don't, I don't think. I don't think you need more.
Running back depth, I'm going tobe honest.
With you, if you keep the running backs you have now and
I'm talking about a Jeremiah. Kony.
I'm talking about, I'm talking about a shoot.

(01:59:43):
You keep, you keep. You keep, Mason.
You keep, Mason, you keep. You keep.
Hard and Messiah. And.
With Seldon. And you keep Seldon as a.
Hybrid, you're fine. I think the.
Biggest time you want to spend your money is on your offensive
line. You bring another, bring
another. Two tight ends.

(02:00:05):
And. A QB.
And a corner and your and. Your QB.
We need 3 QBs right? I mean, we got a.
Bring it in you. You need 2.
My my my suggestion is you need 2.
You need 2 because you got two true freshmen that's going to be
red shirt freshman this year. Then you got.
Hume coming in so. If you get to your third

(02:00:25):
quarterback, you fucked anyway, so it ain't fucking paying.
Money for that? Well, you fucked.
Anyway, you're done. You're done.
You're done. I mean shit.
They were three and nine guys with our QB.
One. Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
So like you break in two, you got to bring in two but.
Beyond. That you keep the two guys that
you got on the roster and like Isaid, because if you get to QB

(02:00:48):
three, you fucked in that seasonanyway.
I don't think people really understand.
People don't really understand. The talent difference.
That you're going to see with James Franklin being there
number one and #2 the team difference that you have when
your when your trenches look better.
Our offensive line has been in disarray for a long time.

(02:01:09):
Even when our offensive line wasgood in the last couple of
years, it's been in disarray. So when we get a consistent
offensive line that we're going to trot the same guys out to go
play unless somebody gets hurt that you don't want, but it has
happened, you know what I'm saying?
If you can trot the same guys out and you get some continuity
on the line, you're going to seea lot better offense no matter

(02:01:31):
who's back there. But you got to get a quarterback
that can run the system that youhave.
You know, we just didn't we we were just, we've been in, we've
been just in flux for probably about three years.
So you want to get Tori and Grayback?
They're trying. Going to Florida, I saw him.
Is he going to? Florida or no staying?

(02:01:53):
In South Carolina, I mean staying.
By. The way.
That is a brave move by Tori andGray, because Devil.
Dog, you're right. He probably should leave there
because I'm sorry, I don't. Yeah, Shane, he's a freaking
hokey. Yeah, but he's getting a whole
$1,000,000. He's making his money.
This. Year and if he has to move it
he's. Shane got a lot of them not to

(02:02:14):
that team, so Shane was there. With him, that's the whole
thing. Doesn't have to move his.
Family doesn't have. To do anything, play the loyalty
card too. I think he's I that's.
What I why, why, Why uproot everything?
So I've got a flag. I've got a flag right here.
That's that's. That's that's signed.

(02:02:35):
By Torian Gray There's a flag over.
Here it's signed by Torian. Gray, He's a.
Hokey. He's been here.
His. His.
Family's his. Family moved over here.
Yeah, but his family right now is in South Carolina, so he's
probably showing me two. Like give.
Me a year. Let me see who you're working
with. Oh yeah, it's 4 hours, 5 hours

(02:02:56):
behind the scenes. He has Sir, behind the scenes, a
lot of the stuff that these cultures say that.
These cultures. Do man you?
Know what I'm saying? Like Shane has said a lot.
Of stuff about Virginia. Tech, some of the stuff he's
right, but some of the stuff he can't come back from.
You know what I'm saying, what he said, the parents, what he

(02:03:17):
said, the players, what he said. The schools in Virginia, Toy and
Gray has been the same way. They've had to negatively
recruit against Virginia Tech for a long time.
So you can't just automatically hit a switch and go, you know,
Yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm a hokey. I'm coming back.
Like sometimes you build it in and and sometimes you feel like
you were done wrong by a place. So you want?
To prove them wrong. So I kind of feel like that's

(02:03:40):
what it is with some of the people reached out who we've
kind of reached, who we've kind of talking shit.
You're going to talk. I kind of Freeman.
Look if Marcus Freeman takes his.
Giants job. I want that cornerback.
Coach from Notre Dame, if we. Can get.
Them. Yeah.
Wow. He did that Giants job now at

(02:04:01):
this point he could have taken. It weeks ago right if he if.
Freeman take if Freeman takes the Giants.
Job we you can have three reddishes in Virginia Tech and
and the DB coach back. I mean, it's it's a lot of
moving parts, man. It's a lot of moving parts going

(02:04:22):
on. I'll take two reddishes.
Listen first. I know.
But the other one, I want the other Reg.
He wants the other Reg. And hit listen.
I'll. Take Joseph.
I'll take. I'll take.
Any seven O 4 kid I can get because I I vouch for every

(02:04:43):
seven O 4 kid that comes out because they definitely
different olds. Seven O 4 / 7 five seven for a
long time. No, no, no.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Chris, I'm no bring it in.
Don't do. That I love.
Myself. God.
It's not that I don't. Love them.

(02:05:04):
It's not that I don't love them. It's not it's not an anti love.
I just, and I'm sorry, I've had too many beers, 7 to 3, two.
I like that too, but I'm just staying.
I don't know. You go.
I am. I am biased to Independence High
School kids. I am.
Biased to West Charlotte kids. I am biased to north Mecklenburg
kids. Seven O 4 kids are absolutely

(02:05:27):
different. So about 336 baby.
Hey, I'm just I'm just saying right now you just play it by
you let you let it flow out the way it needs to.
But if I can keep Q radish and he knows how I feel about him
and we talk about it, personally, I want him to stay.
And if his brother can come, I'mdefinitely excited about that as

(02:05:49):
well. So it is, Hey, I'm not biased.
I'm not biased on on on Virginia, on Virginia.
Tech on Virginia football players.
But we're not producing footballplayers these days.
It's different. If we're not, we're just not.

(02:06:11):
Yeah, I. Agree.
I agree, Tyler, I agree. We get the ones.
That produce. We we got to start getting four
in the top. 10 every year. Every year.
I agree. I agree. 4IN Mineral.
The running back in Mineral. Should be.
Coming down here. Hey, hey, listen, Savion.

(02:06:34):
Savion Hitter is an absolute Sunday guy.
I agree. You should be coming down here.
I mean, listen, sometimes it's too.
Close to home savior Travis. Johnson Travis Johnson has an
opportunity to be a Sunday guy. We need to have a.
Conversation. About being better in the 804.

(02:06:57):
Because because what's going on is that there's about 3 kids in
the 804 that. In the Virginia Top. 10 every
year and we are maybe hitting onone of them, usually not hitting
on on them. They got a couple that are
going, they got a couple that are going up to the street, up
from one of the road. And I'm not a.
Big. Fan I saw Bull Richardson play 3
times this year. I wanted Bull.

(02:07:19):
Richardson. And Virginia Tech, we need to
start tapping into Verona a little bit better because Verona
historically has not been good. They always been at UVA school.
Yeah, but we got, we got, we gotto make some inroads, man.
We got to make some inroads the.Thing is, is Virginia, like I
feel like me being in Alabama and me.
Listening to a lot. Of Virginia people, y'all can

(02:07:39):
get on there if you want to. Like I feel like y'all are a
little spoiled because a lot of people they say you know these
kids should be playing from Virginia Tech.
This is home and this is where they should be playing in front
of their families. Blacksburg is a weird ass place.
Like I can get the Blacksburg quicker than some people in
Virginia that can get the Blacksburg.
This is 7 hours, 6 hours, 5 hours for some of these kids to

(02:08:00):
go to the Blacksburg place. They can go to UVAI mean they
can go to UNC. And be.
Closer. To home than they can Virginia
Tech. So you can't say like Virginia
should be home to Virginia kids. You have to make it home.
You got to make it home and you got to put the product on the
video and we have that. Let me get this out though.
You got to get this out you. Got to put people in the league.

(02:08:23):
And you got to put them in the league where they Rep Virginia
Tech like we had it. You don't have you don't have
Jay Lane. Jay Lane is.
A Virginia Tech guy. But you don't have.
Jay Lane just walking to Virginia Tech line right now,
coming back to the games and doing all of that stuff.
And when they looked at it, theywas like, what was the team?
You know? You know what I'm saying?

(02:08:43):
We got to get back to the we're putting people in the league and
then they're looking at VirginiaTech like we know what.
We're getting. When this person comes like Penn
State, I can't. I can't say that.
So when Penn State guys go to the league, they knew what
they're getting. Out of them, they know what
they're getting out of Tyler. Warren, they know what they're
getting out of thank Quan Barkley.
You know, all of the lineman that's come from Penn State,

(02:09:04):
they everybody knows what they're getting.
When we start getting back to that, then you open up the door
and people go walk through. I mean, you start Brett probably
started it because yeah, that's the way.
Yeah. Yeah, that's the way I thought.
You know, Chance Niggins or Keelan.
Adams was going to Virginia Tech.
Until Brett Price started pulling kids like that.
I agree. Hey, Dave, Dave, do me a favor.

(02:09:26):
I fucking agree. Hey.
Dave, listen to me. Where?
Are you listening to us at? What?
App, YouTube or somewhere else? Or it's YouTube.
Like mute your. YouTube in the background
because you can hear. Us Live.
We're getting feedback. From.
You so mute the YouTube you'll you'll still hear us on stream

(02:09:48):
yard. You'll be good.
So no, no, no. But that's the point though
that. That you made tally is perfect.
The reason we used to. Oh, he left.
He need leave. No, come back.
Come back. I think you.
Pressed the wrong button. I think you pressed the wrong
button. Hit the wrong button, tally is.
Right tally is 100. Percent that Woodford gets that
for you man. The whole thing is, why did we?

(02:10:11):
Get them back in the day, Phil. We were fucking.
Winning 10 games, we were. Fucking top ten, bro.
We were winning. We had, we had an attitude like
we, we were Virginia Tech. It was different.
It was just. Different.
It's different. It was exactly, it was
different, it was different, it was different.
Like I can't explain it any other way than it was just
different. The attitude was different.

(02:10:31):
The like, you go back in some ofthose games, we were knocking
motherfuckers out and like, let's hey, we would have had so
many people ejected, we would have been able to field a.
Team. Somewhere let me say this.
Right. Let me, let me get this, James.
Franklin said it best. When he said it to the players,
Virginia Tech was a sexy team. They were taking names and

(02:10:55):
whipping ass and that's what we got to get back to.
I'm telling you without question, that's what they going
to get back to. That's what we need, whipping
ass and and that will bring everything.
That they. Want all the money we talked
about this $20 million gift thatwas gotten this money they talk

(02:11:16):
about and that's going to get there is a.
Faction. Of this fan base I'm I'm an
outsider just recently here there's a faction this fan base
that didn't like the way that Frank got sent out of here
because they he to them he builtit he should maybe go out the
same way Jay Joe Paul went out the same way Bear Bryant went

(02:11:40):
out he should he didn't get thatopportunity and they held their
money back Franklin gives them the cachet I'm telling you the
reason why Pryor is out because they were not going to give him
that money to be able to do the different things he need to be
able to do They were willing to give that to Franklin because he
had the cachet well he's a professional he's a professional

(02:12:01):
like he's a professional no, no,he no that's.
It looks like compared to what we did have, he's.
A straight professor? No, I think he he.
He's he's had enough time on task at the.
Job See, I don't want to take away from Brent Private.
He wasn't professional. He had enough time on task on
the job to be able to decipher let me let my coordinators do

(02:12:24):
what they need to do and I do mypart and get us to the next
level. His problem was he was fighting
giants like Ohio State, Michiganto get to that next step.
He ain't got those giants over here.
He might have a he might have a Clemson, he might have a Florida
State and he might have a Miami. But he can, he can situate and

(02:12:46):
he can maneuver around that ninegames is your, is your, is your,
is your floor 9 games is your floor 9 games, nine games of
money. We'll 4 the fuck 9 games we
weren't in the 6th we we've learned in Blacksburg down.

(02:13:06):
But we know. Our.
Schedule. We don't.
We know who we're playing, but we don't know our schedule.
Yet I mean God. Damn, we will.
Literally. I mean dude, 9 games we'll burn.
Hey, listen, Tony Elliott got a contract extension off.
Of 10 games and. What he did you, you got a
lifetime contract. That who, man?

(02:13:27):
You turn around. We get to Charlotte this year
when when we get to Charlotte this.
Year. We're at the Midnight Bar, we're
at the Midnight Cafe. I'm going to put some money on
me when me, Dan and whoever else.
Assassin show up at the MidnightCafe in Charlotte.
If we make the match, if we makethe if we make Charlotte you.

(02:13:48):
You and me, we will be there together.
I'm always. Down to go home let's.
Go you think about this though for.
Real for real let. Me say this so.
Feel I know you're pretty involved with Virginia Tech
sports. And.
I don't know your pockets, I don't know how much you give and

(02:14:09):
all of that, but I give a littlebit, right?
I have give and and I show up toshit.
You know, I didn't show up to anything this year.
I didn't give anything this yearbecause I wasn't invested in the
program we went to. We went to Atlanta twice, which
is 3 hours away from me and everybody was like talent, I

(02:14:30):
don't want to see you in Atlanta.
I was like, no, you're not. I'm not going to Atlanta.
Why would I go and waste my money and time?
Because I knew I knew what this year was right.
So with that being said, I'm notsaying it's all about money, but
think about what you as a donor feel with just what we have so

(02:14:50):
far. We ain't even done nothing yet.
And and I'm already like. Let me go ahead.
And get my 1 here, almost $50 here.
Let me go ahead and get ready for the spring game, right?
Let me go ahead and contribute, think about what's going to
happen when we go out here and then this portal comes through

(02:15:10):
because he he did this in the hedid this in the high school
ranks. He's going to go get some portal
guys. And then he's putting together a
really good staff. I said really good staff.
Let's wait next to, but he's putting together a solid staff,
right? OK, so wait, wait, aside from
like personally and like. Aside from his like main bosses

(02:15:33):
of offensive and defensive coordinator, I feel great about
everybody below that. Everybody below that I'm
confident in Brent Pryor. You know how I feel about him.
But wait, you know how I feel about Brent Pryor and I don't
know about Tyler Bowen AI version yet, but I'm going to
need to see because they are literally like the AI original

(02:15:56):
version three years ago of each other by pitcher.
Like they are like that is not Tyler Bowen.
That is Ty the other guy, Ty, Hallie like that.
Sorry, I can't keep shit together right now.
Just thinking about it. If you all can put them
together, it's not right. Like something's wrong,
something's not right. But I agree with us.

(02:16:18):
I agree. I agree, although there was the
story that he didn't want Andy. Kolenecki.
Two years ago, he wanted Ty to be his OC.
Couldn't have told him to shave his fucking beard though.
Sweet. That didn't look like our last
guy. Come on man, shave your beard.
Sorry, do a good team. Do a man look man?
We're not shitting. We're not shitting on beards.

(02:16:38):
Phil, we're not shitting on beards.
Let's not shit on beards. Some of us work really hard.
Sacrifice over there. You chose to mute yourself.
Phil, I tried to unmute you minute.
Mute. Moving around the horn at the.
Party, right? Now.

(02:17:01):
I don't know if that's. Behind the horn thing.
I'm doing it myself. Hey.
I got AI, got a quick question before we go for it.
Did did Jeremy? Decide to come and show up
tonight or no So Jeremy had was the last minute tap out his
wife. Is Uber, He's got a very
pregnant wife and he had the hadthe last minute tap out.

(02:17:22):
I was, I was, I was very distraught.
But he's like, I'm going to be back next year.
Full. Force I have.
I have missed going there. I have missed going to.
There going to pharmacy three times going to games man I just
want to go in there and get thatdude a hug during game before
game day but I want to make sureI.

(02:17:42):
Get to the cheer and get my dude.
A hug I. Love that man.
He is. He is like one of the one of the
best things I've lived there, man.
He'll. Give you give you the shirt off
his back, he'll. He'll, He'll do.
Anything man, he's a good dude man.
Joe Jeremy counts. Jeremy Counts saved my kids
life. Literally and the.
Crazy thing is. Me and Brian when we started.

(02:18:04):
Talking to him, he came. Sponsoring everything.
We started chatting with him. He married a girl that was from
our hometown. She was in high school when
Brian was high school and everybody's like big ass world
ain't a big ass world. It's a small ass world.
That was crazy because I'm like,Brian, did you know her?
The world's tiny. I mean, then we found.

(02:18:24):
Out, Sheldon. His, his family got a got got a
spot up in in Lexington. No Vernon, Vernon Hill.
Vernon Hill. He's got a spot in Vernon Hill.
His dad went, I think something with BMI.
Shelton went to BMI for two years or something.
Where the hell is Sheldon tonight?
The show went to. His dad went to.

(02:18:45):
BMI his dad. Went to BMI, Dad went.
To BMI and I'm then it's over. He should have given.
Anxiety Medicine. At a.
Discount for tech. Fans for the last fucking five
years, man. You know what?
The My favorite part about having Jeremy on is.
I get. I get.
I get to do. The he pays the bills, he fills
the pills like sign on me. Do you know why I went to BMI?

(02:19:08):
Why is that? Because.
I got rejected by. Virginia Tech.
Certainly. My dad's parents.
My dad's family went to V, went to Virginia Tech and I was like
all right, fuck y'all, I'm goingto VMI and I can feel my

(02:19:29):
grandfather rolling the grave asI went to VMI.
They got accepted Virginia Tech. When you were at VMI, did you
play Virginia Tech? Thanksgiving.
Ever. No.
When am I that old? Well, I looked at old.
The end. Of the.
Season. Well, I looked at old.

(02:19:51):
Well, I can't tell the Internet.'S it's fuzzy.
I'm on that one. They said the.
Internet is hammered. Phil and Eric are about the.
Same number of drinks deep I think.
What year? I went in 9790. 8.
OK. All right.

(02:20:12):
So I'm about I'm. I'm a little older than.
Y'all than most of the. Guys here, yeah, not, not too
much older than us. You got about seven years on us
in fucking. Drunken no wait 9795 was drunken
mother and 97 was. The the the Orange Bowl, we got
our ass handed over us in Nebraska.

(02:20:32):
Well, we beat Miami that year because I was at BMI and we.
Beat them 16 nothing after goingO and two you know I knew we
were fucked in that. Orange Bowl against Nebraska.
I was there. It was called Joe Robbie
Stadium. The tech Busters rolled through.
There was two of them. Whoo go Hokies, let's go 2
buses. The Nebraska buses roll by.
There were five of them. The entire sideline was full of

(02:20:57):
Nebraska corn fed, white ass, big ass motherfuckers that if
they were in this world, in NIL world would have been dispersed
making a million and a half dollars each across the fucking
country all over. They would have been making
money. But no, they were walk ONS
because they decided I don't want to be a backup player

(02:21:20):
Michigan. I want to walk on at Nebraska
because it's fucking Nebraska. It's the stupidest shit ever.
Fuck, it's the dumbest shit ever.
And and this is the last thing. All right, I'm going to mute
myself again. We have a running back on our
team. I forgot his name but he may or
may not have been accused of rape and he was not.

(02:21:43):
But he was at the Game 5 rows infront of me on the corner of.
Joe Rivie Stadium. We drove to Miami mute for one
minute. Oh.
God, wow. Oh God, I love you guys.

(02:22:07):
I'm going to walk on to Nebraska.
Hey. Hey, you know.
What? Hey, Lavar, liked that one.
I like. That I like that we're trying to
get Chris. Back on here.
He's just spinning here. He's spinning.
He got Tally in her now. Right now.
Nebraska had a bunch of Nebraskahad a bunch of Lassiters from
the. Program on.
That on that. Team.
Hey, yes, I met I met Ron and Tally.

(02:22:31):
And Dan and Vanderbilt. Oh, sure.
Yes, Sir, It was a good time. It was a good time until it.
Wasn't I got I got a sunburn anda broken heart in.
That in that stadium. Look at the 9 pieces and a
liver. Yeah.

(02:22:51):
My heart grew. Like the Grinches and then was
ripped out of my body and. Bit.
In 2, but I met Tally. I met Tally at the Grievous
basket. Grievous.
Baskets Minute, minute, minute, minute time out.
Fuck Grievous. I met Tally.
I met Tally at the Purdue game. Whoa, you.

(02:23:12):
Met. How did we not meet you for the
game? Well, I.
Didn't meet him, but he came down.
Came down. He came down in the South end.
Zone. He came down in the South end
zone with nothing but an orange on.
I was like. Damn it, that's.
Talent. My wife is like.

(02:23:32):
How do all these people? Know you when we go.
Places I'm like I look a little bit different.
Than those people because you'rea podcast guy.
Oh. Shit.
Man, I'm. Excited about the spring game is
everybody. Going I'll be at the spring.
Game I'm going to be there with Belle Draw.

(02:23:53):
Are we playing? Are we?
Playing VMI? I'll do that.
We should play VMI. At the Spring game, yeah, we
should play VMI. Let's just.
Move VMI out. Of the spring.
There we go. That's what needs to.
Happen little warm. Up little.
Warm up you talk about. We all talked.
About the bowl games earlier, it's like bowl games are a joke
now. They're now the discussion is
are they going to move bowl games to the beginning of the

(02:24:14):
season? That Cal Hawaii game was
literally an MMA fight like it was.
Like I hate you. You hate.
You won't schedule me. I won't schedule you.
Damn it, I hate. You like it was a lot of.
Punching going on in that. Game, it was great.
How would the logistics work if you moved the ball game to the
beginning of the year? Well, how many?

(02:24:36):
How many? Damn.
Games are they put off site anyway?
But I mean like, no, I mean likewith deciding who plays in them.
I think it's just what did all go wrong with DCS I think.
It's just. All right, because like.
If you move into the beginning, I mean literally.
There are three games on back-to-back to back like
there's nothing on today. Like what are you going to

(02:24:58):
watch? What are you going to watch
Christmas in Connecticut on the Hallmark Channel for the third
time, Like, oh, you're going to watch.
You're going to watch Western Kentucky.
Place Western Michigan in the. Chicken Bowl.
While you camera bearding. Yeah.
While your wife yells at you fornot.
Cleaning up the Christmas shit quicker.
Like. Literally that's the bowl full

(02:25:18):
season. That is the ball season.
It's great. Kind of ridiculous.
I don't know. What do you think?
I don't know how you do it in the beginning.
I think that's a great plan in the beginning.
Of the season I do. I think that's awesome.
But like you can't tell people the games don't count.
You can't can't tell that anymore.
I got a fake out this. Isn't real.

(02:25:39):
It's like. Got the idea I'm.
Hammering, I got the. Idea.
Hold on everybody, be quiet. I got the idea.
No. Every season, OK, everybody
pitches about how everybody. Pitches about how?
Well, we don't get. To hit anybody until the 1st
week of the season. Well, mother fucker, we're going
to put this two weeks before the1st week of the season.
Go out and hit somebody in Orlando.

(02:26:00):
I don't know, we're going to go tear the ACL from the council.
Yeah, hold on. Hold.
On but the FBT goes back to the NFL.
Because a lot of the big. Guys played in the NFL.
Pre season they even alright so but but that's weird because
like the team that earned the bowl isn't the team playing in
the bowl don't matter. It's ratings, it's TD.

(02:26:23):
I get that, but like, it's stillfunky to be man.
What if? We still I'm pretty sure drones
would have sat out and for preparation.
For the, for the, for the draft. What if?
What if we let the BCS decide the 12 team playoff?

(02:26:44):
Yeah, I'm with that, the BCS, I would much prefer that.
Selection committee because. The problem with the BCS.
Wasn't that they got it wrong consistently is that there
wasn't enough teams for them to get it right because they were
only picking 2. If UVA had won, would Miami have
still? Been in.
Got the better have been. Yes, they would have gotten more

(02:27:06):
DML better have been UVA fucked up again.
Yeah, and. And and.
So. And and we we could even build.
Automatic bids. Into that you can even build
automatic bids into that if you want to keep automatic bids game
this year if you looked at it would have been perfect.
Hey, I just want to take I'll take Texas. 1st or no Georgia
versus Vanderbilt, man. Georgia, who did not play each

(02:27:30):
other this year. I'll take that.
All. Fucking day over the bullshit
games that played during the NFLgame in my lifetime.
I just want Virginia Tech to play at the Rose Bowl one time.
I just. Want to?
See Virginia Tech. That is the hey, he's.
Going to college, that's going to.
Be the. I'll say this, it's not if.

(02:27:53):
Hopefully when that happens, that's going to be the crushing
of the credit cards. We're going to college.
Me and Phil won't care what I want to say.
We'll just play out together. You.
Know when? That'll happen.
That'll be the one. Time there's fucking preseason.
Bowl games, we'll be. Playing in the fucking.
Poinsettia Bowl in the fucking Rose Bowl.
I'm in. I'm in playing against.

(02:28:14):
Aaron Rodgers. I'm definitely going to Dallas
this year. As hell yeah I want to go to
Dallas for. Basketball.
Soon that's the all that's best who's going to college I.
Can go to shit No I Dallas like the.
Road to look like. If I was retired or just
retired, the road trips would befucking epic.
Oh bam epic. I'm not retired and I'm going to

(02:28:37):
Cali. Let's go.
Hey. Eric said Hey Cali, let's go
baby. One flight.
That's what the answer. So I don't know, fight back.
I don't know, we got. A big basketball.
Game coming up soon. It's going to define our.
I'm going to. Be there.
Literally, I'm going. To say you right now, it will
literally define. Our entire.

(02:28:59):
Season how we do in that game you going to be playing in that
game I've seen I'm going I'm going to be I'm going to be in
the castle guard and UV tech to.Be Eva fucking bullshit.
Our students aren't there. Let's go How does that happen?

(02:29:22):
It's a huge game. It's the.
Biggest, it's even. Blacksburg, huh?
It's a big game. Stupidity go about a good
schedule. Nowadays is that.
Game. Is.
Darren fucking no students are there.
We get a trade off though. The last game of the season is
at UVA and they don't have theirstudents.
Here, because it's spring break, they'll all be at Kenny

(02:29:43):
Punkport. Kenny Punkport up in Maine.
I'll be at Napa Napa. I'm drinking Zema.
Zema. They got good Zema.
Now, oh man, always. Is.
Entertaining. I think that's a.
Great idea about state of the program.
I think you need to do a state of the program after the spring.

(02:30:04):
Game honestly, because, like, nobody knows how we know good
about right now. Yeah, we, we, we.
Do a little bit of a We do a little bit.
Of pull back in after we we do the spring.
Game we do. We do a live post game at Maroon
Door and we yell fuck. We yeah, we, no, we don't yell
fuck. Brian yells.

(02:30:24):
Fuck, apparently. And then Brian, Brian's wife,
puts a little note up that says you're saying fuck a lot.
He says fuck a lot. It's not going to say fuck a
lot, say fuck a lot at the maroon door.
With like no you. Say fuck a lot.
Young children sitting in the yard.
I play fuck with you on Thursdaynights.
You say fuck a lot. Again.

(02:30:47):
But that's not. A problem there, That's not a
problem. There at the maroon.
Door at 3:45 Hey, this is what you get when you get.
This is what you get when you get 2.
Halifax guys in the same room. It is.
Yeah, yeah, pretty much, pretty much.
Man 30 plus. Years, Eric, you don't

(02:31:07):
understand. 30. Plus years of this, it's how
long we've known each other, right?
I've always said fuck. I've always.
Said fuck, hey, I'm. I know we give.
We're going to have to get ready.
To. Wrap it up.
I'm going to throw this out. I'm going to start with Curtis.
See what he got to say. Good portal.
Portal is going to open up. January.

(02:31:28):
The second, OK. And you got, I'm going to say
you got $5,000,000 to spend. I know we got more than that as
a team, but they giving Curtis $5,000,000 to spend.
What are you going to take that 5 million and spend it on?
I'm going to spend it on the following five items.
Give them $1,000,000. Each.
Best left tackle Find me the best 2 defensive ends.

(02:31:55):
I want 1D tackle and. Then I'll take a guard.
Because I do believe. Somebody like Johnny Garrett
can. Hold down the right tackle spot.
That's my, that's my spots because you got you got to spend
more than a million on. Them on the.
Defensive ends, but I I. Understand where you're going.
Well, I think I can balance it regarding you D tackle, the D

(02:32:17):
tackle in there. So that's what I'm asking.
Give if if it's. Just my 5.
Million. I got 1. 5 million.
Give me a $2 billion quarterbackand the best tackle and interior
offensive lineman you can find. We'll figure.

(02:32:37):
We'll figure the rest out with the rest of the money.
But I. Need an offensive line and a.
Quarterback that can sling it ornothing else works.
Dan, I'm dropping 5 million on 4offensive lineman.
I'm staying. Here I'm going to go QB.

(02:33:01):
With. Two and the rest on.
Offensive lineman OK. Chris, what you guys say, Chris?
I mean, it's easy for me, most important.
Most important positions in order quarterback.
Left tackle, defensive ending, quarterback.

(02:33:22):
That's the most important positions.
I was wondering why. I was wondering why nobody said
the cornerback yet. Yeah, yeah, nobody said that.
So if I'm going to turn around. No, they're important.
So I turn around in my position,I'll go 2.5 on.

(02:33:42):
If I got 5 million, I got 2.5 onmy quarterback.
I go get the best left tackle I can go get.
I then turn around and go get the rest of the money I spend on
my pass rusher because my pass rusher means everything and I'm
going to have to play with what I got to play with because I

(02:34:02):
have. Talent.
In my quarterback room, Josh Clark and JoJo Crim are.
P4 players. P4 Players Jamar Deloach.
And. Knowledge Harrell are P4.
Players Q Reddish, QQ Reddish, Jordan Bass, Sheldon Robinson

(02:34:27):
and and Caleb Spencer and Noah Chambers are P4 players.
I got secondary guys, so that's where I play it.
I got to get a quarterback to beable to give a ball to my
playmakers. I'm I'm going to, I'm going to
be able to bring in a tight end.From.
Wherever who's going to want to play with Ty Howe and I don't

(02:34:49):
know if I missed it yeah, if if I if I missed it with Ty Howe
and. His offense, I've had an
opportunity. To kind of hear what he's going
to do, and I like what his offense is going to bring.
He's got a concept, he's got a game plan, something that my
previous OC before Monty didn't have.

(02:35:12):
And so he's going to be able to expand on it.
He's going to be able to beat the middle of the field up.
So I'm excited about that. I'm I've definitely had an
opportunity to to kind of get some insight on that.
So I'm excited about that. So yeah, let me get a
quarterback, let me get a, let me get a, let me get a, let me
get a defensive end and let me let me get a left tackle.

(02:35:37):
But I think I think Johnny Garrett another year in Matt
Moore system will be serviceable.
I don't think he's going to be all world, but I think he'll be
serviceable, serviceable. I'm going to go out on a limb.
I think Marlin Bright and Tommy Tommy Wilder will be will be the

(02:35:59):
next version of, you know, Kristen Darrisol and the next
and those and those guys. That's that's what I'm banking
on. That's what I know.
Those guys got to be I I know Marlin Bright's going to come
here and go to play. I know what Tommy.
Wilder has to. Do to go be exceptional and he

(02:36:20):
is a Sunday cat. He's a Sunday cat.
So, you know, I I believe that to be.
What he is. Field.
I mean, I'm going to trust the guy.
That. Has a kid on the.
Team it's what I'm going to do. Like, I mean, I feel like he is

(02:36:41):
a pretty good Paul all things like if I had $5,000,000, like I
mean, hey, man, I mean I would, I literally like, I don't know,
I'm inside out. Like you build from the defense
to the, to the offensive line. And but like I, I, I, I don't
know running back. I think we're set.

(02:37:02):
I think the skill positions likepeople can catch and run and we
got people there. I do maybe give Jared Ferguson
some of that money is what I maybe feel like a little bit.
I I am like that is the other thing.
I'll be honest with you. You can hire Brett Pryde and get
threw it back to you. No, like you're wearing.

(02:37:23):
My jersey from when I was in kindergarten.
Back there, no doubt very small in my video, but it's very
small. But look, if we could keep
Jared, like if you could bring Brett Pryde back, but Jared
Ferguson, I would probably not be as upset or confused or
frustrated as my life. But like I miss Jared Ferguson.

(02:37:45):
Now. Jared Ferguson's a hokey.
But like, whatever they you, youknow better than anybody.
Your name is it on here. It says Chris Frog.
But you know, I feel like you have a pulse on the team better
than. Anybody what I want to know?
It's like, what is the vibe? Like it's kind of a joke.
Like I can only imagine what like a Brent Prime meeting and a

(02:38:07):
James Franklin meeting. It's like it's litter like KB
Toys and Toys-R-Us like. I feel like I compared the.
Navy damn like KB toys did a fine job at one point.
They were great. They.
Were right near the Chick-fil-A and the toys.
But. But that's that's what I want to

(02:38:29):
understand is like. What is the vibe?
Because the other thing that I've read anecdotally is that
like the Merriman Center is now the football center.
There ain't walking through the Merriman Center to walk the
basketball court to go to your table.
I don't give a shit who you are,how much money you give, I don't
care. You're going to walk around this
other building. You're going to need to park in

(02:38:49):
a different place. So that's what I want to know
and what the vibe is that way because like, I don't know, the
coaching is going to be a mystery in my opinion until the
coaching is the coaching. But I want to know like in the
are the players like, oh, shit, like this is no joke, because I
feel like we hear that all the time.
Like, oh, we got to go to class.Like I don't give a shit about
coach going to class. I care about getting better and

(02:39:12):
proving yourself to somebody that obviously has been there
and done that and was a play away from the national
championship game. So please, I mean you, you talk
about from my perspective, is that what you're asking?
What? Your perspective.
Plus obviously you have an informed perspective, so yes.
My perspective is that they understand that they got to go

(02:39:34):
to work. I think, and I think I said it
earlier in our in our talk, you,you got to understand this a
year to year deal and every kid knows that they sign a year to
year deal for them to be able togo to school and be at Virginia
Tech Okie. And I think like I said before,

(02:39:58):
there are more eyes on this program than any other program
in the ACC because of the addition of Franklin.
So I can only, I can only speak from the the kids that I talked
to and they understand. That hey, they're in audition.
They're in audition for the. Next 12.

(02:40:20):
Months, you know, you see all the running backs and I'm in a
group chat with some guys who have listed some guys that they
want to have running back but those all those guys have to
talk to the the new regime because there's a different.
Level of. Expectation from those guys, I'm

(02:40:42):
blessed and I'm humbled that my kid is in that, that that
perspective. So at the end of the day, man,
we got to go win games. We go win games.
You get the kids back that we have.
And I've always pounded the table for the 20, the 2324 and
25 clothes. Those are the kids that that

(02:41:04):
I've had a opportunity to talk. To.
Help get them here and we're going to be fine.
We get those with the portal that come in on the second we
get a, we get a legitimate E4 quarterback with an offensive
line because I think Kyron neverhad the opportunity to have a

(02:41:24):
full offensive line that could be able to block and do the
different things they can be able to do for him to help him.
We'll be fine. I'm fine.
I'm excited, and that's the easiest way I can say it.
Does that make sense? That that makes sense.
And the biggest issues on that one thing the.
The one thing that I'll say that.

(02:41:45):
Nobody hit on. Is we got to get a stud
linebacker too. We got some linebackers that can
play, but we got to get we got to get a stud.
Tony Rojas, come on down. I mean, Noah Chambers is.
I don't feel like he's. Far, but he needs some help, no?
He's not, He's just young. He's not hitting your goal.

(02:42:07):
We're going to talk about this again.
Don't worry 3. Of them still, I don't know if
you know this, but. You were just talking to the
Green Run Godfather and. That in itself is hey, hey, hey,
hey, hey, hey. I am just a guy.
What's the man? Stop putting that green brother
godfather stuff on me, the guy. Stay.
Thirsty, my friend. I'm thirsty to hang out with the

(02:42:28):
green run. Godfather.
In Charlotte. In Charlotte in 11 months,
right? Eleven months, maybe 11 days. 11
months all. Right.
In. Almost.
Three hours. As always.
This. Is.
An absolute blast. Every year it is some people

(02:42:49):
that came on, the people that came off maybe not have been the
biggest crowd tonight. I don't know where the white BIC
is, but we don't have conversation.
He joined on Instagram. He did not jump on live.
But Dwight, Dwight's always got a got got his hand on the pulse.
I'm sad because I missed the white.
I missed the white. Do it again.
You got to do it again when we got a more complete team.
This is uncharted territory, literally.
Uncharted territory. Uncharted territory.

(02:43:12):
But the way the state of the program goes right now is.
We've got a. Significantly better head coach.
We've got a significantly betterstaff.
The players are better than where they were three or four
years ago. Significantly, yes Sir.
And now everything that happens in the.
Next month, so maybe we run it back.
About a month from now, now it'sgoing to be probably be more

(02:43:33):
stone cold sober because I can'tdo this every Friday night.
I will be dying. I won't be stone cold sober, but
I'll certainly be a few drinks. You know I have a tall PR in
here I did not get. Hammered tonight, this is.
Friday This is a steady Friday night.
Brian Sieglitz, Friday night date of the program.
Every quarter. Friday night, head of the

(02:43:56):
quarter, head of the. Program every quarter we might.
Be at the Bills. We might have to do it.
Hey, if we're. Doing this a month from now and
I'm invited. You know I'm going to be here,
so I know you will. Dan.
Yes, Sir. No doubt man, it's always
nothing on brother. But listen.
With that, stay in the program, 2025.
That wraps up this episode of the Boundary Corner podcast.

(02:44:18):
