What would music sound like if not for quite a few musical icons that completely changed the game? It seems like every decade or so, someone rises in the world of music, shaping what music sounds like and leaving their mark not just on the industry but on the world. Voices like Tina Turner, for example, who revolutionized music, rocketing her to the aptly titled Queen of Rock' n' Roll! With a voice unlike any other, Tina Turner was singular, using her music and platform to push the world in monumental ways; however, not everyone knew about the life she led outside of her stage presence. TINA: The Tina Turner Musical peels back the curtain to examine this icon's life in intimate detail. With this show arriving in Detroit this weekend as a bonus show in the current Broadway in Detroit season, we spoke with one of the stars of TINA, K. Bernice, about her time on the production.
In this Box Seat Babes exclusive interview, K. Bernice talks about stepping into the shoes of Zelma and what it's like to play a role based on a real person. She discusses the weight of a role like this and why stories like Tina Turner's are important to tell. Listen as Bernice talks about her own personal journey into theater and Broadway, such as playing roles in the recent touring production of Come From Away, as well as regional productions of The Color Purple!

Are You A Charlotte?
In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
