Speaker 1 (00:20):
I know my sister like I know my own mind.
You will never find anyone as trusting nor as kind
noy guys. Oh wait, before I even get into this episode,
I want to introduce myself. I am Kaya Kaiya of
Bravo We're Black. This is a podcast that I co
(00:43):
host with my best friend Aaron, who is at his
big boy job right now, but don't worry, he will
be back. He was on a few episodes more than
usual as a little treat to you guys. And yeah,
I mean, it's just been so fun learning how to
(01:05):
do certain things on your own, and that is why
you're getting this episode. Oh it'll still be Wednesday. It'll
still be Wednesday when you get this episode on the
West Coast, so technically I'm still on time. But I
just wanted to retroduce myself just in case you heard
me on that Dada Da So Bad It's good with
(01:28):
Ryan Bailey. I had a blast. I mean, we really
talked about it all, and I think that this was
one of my favorite episodes with Ryan that I guessed
it on because me and Aaron have him on here.
We guessed on there sometimes, but it's usually always at
(01:49):
least on his we always talk mainly Bravo, but this
time we truly delved into pop culture, which is Bravo. Like, Baby,
I'm never gonna I just feel like we're locked in period,
like we're not divorcing. Well, I'll never get a divorce
(02:13):
to Bravo. Like I'm never gonna stop talking about Bravo.
Love it, hate it in between, board with it, eat
it up, throw it out. I don't care like Bravo
and me go together real bad. However, Comma, I just
love being able to speak about different things in pop
culture in general, and sometimes overshare of course, But I
(02:36):
just do want to say that if you're joining me
from listening to Ryan's podcast, which has also exponentially, and
I'm so proud of him and shout out to him,
like congratulations if you know, you know, congratulations, God bless Ryan, Rebecca,
(02:57):
his whole family, Like so great to hear that news.
But anyways, I had such a good time and it
was so fun. I talked Bravo, a talk cat woman.
I talked going independent, which has been scary but something
that was well needed. I talked about just just so
(03:20):
many different things, love thy Nator, which I am on
the way to finishing, maybe I'll have money back to
help me talk about the end of that and also
get some of her takes on Beauty and Black. I
was also you guys. I was also able to tell
(03:40):
white people to start watching Beauty and Black and some
of you guys even messaged me, and I'm just like, God,
that's so cool and I want to and oh, babe,
I'm gonna email you back. Babe. I had a listener
email me about my other new session, which now I'm
(04:02):
I'm afraid because I have an obsessive personality. Once I
start watching or taking an interest into something, it is
now a part of my personality. I've start watching K
dramas yep, and I will never look back. Do you
(04:25):
understand me? K dramas are so good. My biggest thing
that stopped me from even because this is something that
I would naturally like usually watch. I feel like I
should have been one of those kids who grew up
watching K dramas or even you know, teens adults. You
(04:46):
know they've been popularized about. I'd say they really went
up about like a decade ago, and usually I would
be one of those people who watched it or even
like animes really but what I hated and now I've
finally gotten used to is the dubbing. But there's something
(05:09):
about it that just makes something about K drama that
just is I don't know. It pulled me in and
I did talk about K Pop Demon Hunters as I
usually do anyway, I'm like sporting the gospel of K
Pop Demon Hunters. So the fact that, like to the
(05:29):
point where I made my mom watch K Pop Demon Hunters,
she did not agree to it. It was kind of
like I've tricked her into it. I was like, Hey,
do you want to hang out? Because when we hang out,
we naturally watch things housewives, Dancing with the Stars, the
soap operas, the Young and the Restless, of both of
(05:50):
the beautiful, beyond the Gates, stuff like that. We are
always watching stuff together. That is my love language, and
that is why I have a podcast where I not
only talk about the things that I'm watching, but when
I tell you, guys, I want you to watch this,
it's because I genuinely think that you will like it,
and I want to connect so badly with people about it,
(06:14):
and I want to bring people together to talk about it,
and I want to be able to just get your mind.
You know you're gonna listen to this podcast for however
long this is. This isn't gonna be that long because
I'm so low today. But I always say, if I
can make someone smile or be entertained for at least
one hour a week, I have done my job. So
(06:37):
anytime that I recommend something to you guys, just like
Ryan's podcast, even if it's so bad, it's good, it's
because I want you to be able to build community
with me. It's my love language. So I got into
K dramas. Yeah, that's where I'm going. I got into
(06:59):
cage because I was watching K pop Demon Hunters again.
I watched it with my mom. She did not give
her samp of approval because demon Hunters demon is in
the name. But I had to sit down and explain
to her like kind of frame by frame. Okay, so
(07:22):
you see that this girl she is half demon half human. Okay,
but do you see that they hunt the demons and
they send them back to hell? They are not well,
she is a demon, but she doesn't want to be one,
and basically her friends don't know. And hey, listen to
this song. Don't you like the song? Isn't it catchy, Hey,
(07:45):
look at this cool tiger here, like you know, like
I was a master of distraction and usually I'm a
master of destruction. But she didn't completely hate it. I
just know that she will not be watching it again.
But the fact that I even got her to sit
there and watch it was a win. So my mom
(08:08):
watched capab Bema Hunters and I read about it all
the time, and I'm just reading about how like you
know me, I'm here for the drama. Like I'm not
really a fan of like too much action. I'm a
fan of plot. I'm a fan of romance. I'm a
(08:28):
fan of you know that. So I am just like, okay,
this is I've seen something that is not a part
of my culture that I usually like watch. Like on realistically,
there are shows with an ensemble cast of mixed race people.
(08:50):
There are black shows, there are white shows. There's telemovelas.
But I never delved into Korean dramas because I don't
like the dubbing and if I put the captions on,
(09:10):
that means that I have to read the entire time
instead of watching what's going on. And I know, I know,
I know, if you know me, you know that I'm
a captions girl period, like I don't care what watching.
As a matter of fact, I actually did a TikTok
on because I really want people to know this and
(09:33):
movies be accessible for everyone, because I never see anyone
like using it, asking it, or even talking about it.
And I didn't even know that this was a thing
until a few years ago. But I made a TikTok
about how I actually went to the movies and I
was able to use the glasses so I could see
(09:56):
captions on the screen of the movie, and my god,
it was such a game changer. I mean, I don't
use it every time. Usually, like the second watch of
a movie, I'm almost out, almost almost unless I really
hate something. I almost watch every movie that I've seen
in theaters twice, once in theaters, or twice if it's
(10:19):
really good, sometimes three times if it's really good, you know,
like wiki obviously it was one and once, but once
in theaters and then one time when I get home,
and like the whole time, I'm missing so many subplots
because at home I'm able to activate the captions. But
(10:41):
usually when I watch a new show with captions and
it's in English, it's okay. Because I'm listening to the show,
I'm watching the show, and I'm also reading the captions.
So with dubbing, a lot of the times, especially with Netflix,
not only is it off putting because I'm looking at
them moving their lips and it's not saying like what
(11:07):
the person is saying, like you know, they're they're dubbing,
so like the person is speaking English on the over
the overcast or whatever like the recording, and then the
person on the screen is speaking Korean, but I'm unable
to keep up with the captions. And since I already
know that I need captions for an English show, just
(11:32):
having captions for a Korean show is I'm and not
having you know, dub over it, like I'm not gonna
understand anything going on in the show. So that's my
big thing and why I skip Squid Games, like I've
never seen Squid Games because I hated dubbing. And also
(11:54):
if I just put captions on in English, i would
missed entire plots because I'm trying to keep up with
the captions. But I got over my distaste of dubbing,
and a lot of the times I feel like, especially
Netflix does this, They're dubbing the show, but even with
(12:19):
the English captions, like the English captions don't match what
they dub when they recorded it, which is crazy to me.
But yeah, so K Pop Demon Hunters I wanted more
like Korean romance over the top things that they have
(12:41):
adapted from K Pop Demon Hunters but in live action
or other anime forms. So it turns out that one
of the songs that they use on K Pop Demon
Hunters for a very short period of time is actually
from a popular K drama called Business Proposal. It's on
(13:03):
Netflix and it it's not for everyone. So I'm not
telling you guys to watch K dramas. I'm just sharing
my experience, Like I'm not recommending these things, but I
feel like if you are itching for something like K
Pop even Hunters, that's lighthearted, like fun, wholesome, a little corny,
(13:32):
like just things that you can just watch and not
be stressed out, not wonder what everyone is feeling, not anything,
just something to watch, something lighthearted. And they're not for
kids either. They have multiple but I just know that
Business Proposal was a really good one. It's about a
(13:56):
girl who is friends with a very rich woman. She's
like her best friend actually and their rich girl's dad
wants her to go out on a date with the
CEO of a food distribution company, and so her best
(14:17):
friend the rich one. She ends up sending her best
friend to pose as her to turn her off. Meanwhile,
the guy who's the CEO, his dad wants him to
get married like a sap. I'm not sure how old
they're supposed to be in these shows either, but anyways,
(14:39):
his dad wants him to get married asap. So he's like, actually,
this is a great idea because I'm just going to
marry any ridiculous girl that I do not like because
I want to put my head on the company and
I want to focus on work. And that's why it's
called like business proposal because they end up even though
(15:01):
she does everything to try to like turn him off,
he takes an interest in her. And it's the lover
I mean enemies to lovers storyline, and that's what I
was seeking. And it was just really fun to watch,
So shout out to Business Proposal. They use the song
from Business Proposal on K Pop Demon Hunters and it
(15:25):
was just a joy. It's twelve episodes. It's a delicious
little bite for people who may want something corny, romance, dramatic.
It's not American like at all. They treat each other
with respect. There's no there's no real like, there's no
(15:46):
real I don't know. It's just so much. It's such
a wholesome thing. And now I'm moving on to like
an animated one that is like not even enemies to lovers,
but just pining, yearning, kind of wholesome show called The
(16:09):
Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity, and that is an anime
that is on Netflix. So yeah, wholesome, wholesome, wholesome. So
you guys, if you are from Ryan's show, welcome, Welcome.
I want to let you know I'm gonna say some
(16:29):
controversial things. We're gonna say some funny things, a lot
of stuff. We mean a lot of stuff. We don't
some things that you hear maybe AI and everything is
alleged and everyone is welcome here, okay. Also I want
to say, like you guys, I don't know how to
(16:52):
figure out how to level the commercials, like the sound
of the commercials or like the you know, how loud
the commercials are compared to the episode. I don't know
how to do that yet. I specifically made it an
announcement that I'm going independent. What going independent means is
(17:15):
that I'm doing everything by myself. You heard the first
few episodes like they were a mess, but the last
few episodes have been pretty darn good, I will say,
because I'm learning to use the software. However, nowhere in
the software does it help me or dictate how loud
(17:40):
the commercials are. And that's why I wanted to let
you guys know that I'm going independent, because I could
have kept it to myself, and I could have just
pretended that, you know, like I didn't. It wasn't something
that you guys needed to know. I let you guys
know this because I need your patience, I need your understanding,
(18:00):
and I need your support. So I understand the commercials
are allowed, but I do not know how to level
them just yet. I just figured out how to download
something from Google Drive, like please give your girl a break.
(18:21):
I promise you. I see you and I'm working on it.
And also that's something you can message me on Instagram.
I am open to criticism, I am open to complaints,
I am open to disagreement. I am open to insults. Now,
how I respond, that's on you. However, Comma, I'm open
(18:44):
to it, but give me that on Instagram right now.
I need your five stars and I need you to
say something positive. That's it, and then whatever qualms you have,
email me Bravo while Black at gmail dot com or
go on Instagram at Bravo while Black. We are very
(19:06):
accessible here and we want to try to make a
show by two independent black creators and take it further
then we've been able to take it these past five years.
So thank you for letting me know that. The commercials
(19:26):
are allowed, but I don't know how to turn them
down just yet, but I will be working on them
now that we got the church announcements out the way.
You bitches are insufferable. Insufferable you are, and not you specifically.
(19:51):
That's another thing that I do, you guys, any new fans,
any new listeners. It's not specifically you most of the time,
unless it does apply. I mean I have to shoot fits,
but I speak in like in the the almighty you.
(20:12):
You bitches are so insufferable. You theater bitches are so
insufferable that it just sucks the fucking fun out of everything.
I don't know who's worse. A bitch that saw Hamilton,
(20:38):
which that's that's what I was singing at the beginning
of the episode, which I might get into a little bit,
but probably not because I'm already at like twenty minutes.
That's what I was talking about at the beginning of
the episode. I was singing Hamilton. But who's worst like
someone who saw a Hamilton or Wicked on Broadway or
(21:02):
a male who identifies as a sinophile. And usually automatically
I would be like the man, the man, the man,
the man, the man, the man. But it's like, my God,
like I expect a straight, especially white man to be
insufferable when it comes to movies because if you ever
(21:27):
watch if you ever watch like the le the letterboxed
interviews where they ask people, oh what are your what
are your favorite for? And that's another thing. Side rant
ADHD side rant, like, oh wait, hold on, let me
give my Black Excellence Award, you guys. I could pletely
(21:50):
forgot that this was well sometime on the solo ones,
I don't do it. I like to do it when
I have a guest because we can then talk about it.
But my Black Excellence Award just go go to the
actress that plays uh, what's her name her name with
her name Angelica Redee Elise Goldberry. She is such a diva,
(22:13):
she's such an icon, she's such a love a legend.
I am not only obsessed with her on Hamilton and
have been upsessed with her on Hamilton, the most interesting
and the best actress and the best voice on Hamilton.
But I also want Girls five Ever. That's what I'm recommending.
If you have never seen Girls five Ever and you
(22:33):
need a good laugh, please go watch Girls five Ever.
It was on Peacock. I didn't want to watch it.
It ended up getting canceled from Peacock, but moved to Netflix,
only for Netflix to take it, give us a six
episode season, and then kill it. But Girls five Ever
is literally one of the funniest shows hand to god
(22:59):
of this generation period. And Renee Least Goldberry, she gives
such an amazing performance on that show. And what's crazy
is Google says that she's fifty four. I know that
black people do not age or age slowly, especially the women,
(23:28):
but the fact that she's fifty four and she was
just on Girls five Ever, and she I wouldn't have
said that she was like a day over forty maybe
maybe like forty three now because Girls Flight Eva was
years ago, so forty three forty four max. But Google
(23:49):
says that she's fifty four, and I am shocked. She's
going to live forever. Well anyways, that's my black excellence.
But okay, back to my rant. Why what makes me
what makes me complain about this is like I remember,
(24:12):
this is what's happening with the Wi kid. That happened
with Hamilton. I remember in twenty twenty, Hamilton came to
Disney Plus right, a lot of people heard about Hamilton,
wasn't able, didn't know about the plot that much, or
(24:32):
knew about the plot, but never really like got to
talk about it, see it, no bootlegs of it, nothing,
but anytime you would ask someone. And this was even
during the pandemic, when like we were all just trying
to like find things to really like just take our
(24:54):
minds off the pandemic, take our minds off the election,
take our minds off of shit. I remember, it was
just such like it was so obnoxious and insufferability with
people who have seen Hamilton on Broadway and then they
(25:18):
wouldn't critique necessary because there was nothing to critique because
that was the play. But it's like I would ask
someone like, hey, are you gonna watch Hamilton on Disney Plus?
Like this is a big deal. You had heard about Hamilton,
people made jokes and pop culture about Hamilton. We got
some of the world's biggest stars, Lynn Manuel, Miranda uh
(25:42):
Brenelie's Goldberry, Leslie, Odom Junr, Anthony Ramos, like, oh are
you on a du bois okay? Like we have gotten
so many of the world's biggest stars on screen on
Broadway went on when Tony's all all this good stuff
(26:03):
and different shows and all this good stuff. And I
would ask or someone would ask someone, hey, are you
watching Hamilton when they release it? Because it was something
that like was so fun and it was the first
time that it had happened. You know, Disney is releasing
Hamilton on Disney Plus, Like you're gonna be able to
(26:26):
watch a legal recording of this show, and you know
it's it was a big deal. And like anytime you
ask like either a theater nerd someone who lives in
New York that is into theater or not even into
theater that just you know, lives in New York. And
(26:48):
obviously usually when you live in New York, you go
to a play like you just do, that's something you do,
or someone who has traveled to New York before and
they went to the play because it would so much
buzz around it. But any time you would ask them
are you watching Hamilton? Instead of giving you a guess,
(27:10):
a no, like, or come even complaining about it or
raving about it, they would automatically say, I saw it
on Broadway? Was that the fucking question? Like? Sorry, not
all of us were able to go and see Hamilton.
(27:34):
There were literal, like sitting political people. I don't know.
I think Obama saw Hamilton. This was such a huge show,
Broadway show that even people who lived in New York
sometimes could not go see that show. So don't like
(27:55):
fucking look at me, or just be so snobby and
be like, I saw it on Broadway. I didn't ask
you that. I don't give a fuck. Are you gonna
watch it with us on Disney Plus and talk about
it and talk about the themes and re sing the
songs and have fun? Or are you gonna be a
(28:15):
freaking a hole snob thinking that you're shit? Don't think
that you're mightier than us. I saw it on Broadway?
What does that have to do with watching the show
with the rest of us. Were you at that July
(28:36):
whatever taping? And if you were, who cares? It was
being re released on Disney Plus, which was a new
streaming service, which you know was a big deal, which
we were trying to get our minds off something, you know, stressful,
(28:57):
crazy once in a lifetime, a plate going on, a
plague was going on, and I'm trying to connect with you,
and people are trying to connect with other people, and
you just had to brag that you were lucky enough
to see it on Broadway. I can understand if you
were like, oh, no, I saw it on Broadway and
I didn't really like it. That's a fair answer. But
(29:20):
people who saw it on Broadway were so fucking insufferable.
And the same thing is happening with Wicked. Let people
be excited. My god, the Wicked for Good trailer came
out today and it was be beautiful. It was amazing,
(29:44):
It was flawless. It brought me to tears. Yet again,
I am not sorry for the person I become when
Wicked Too comes out. However, Comma, you bitches are a
little bit worse than the Hamilton bitches, because not only
(30:11):
are you telling people I saw it on Broadway, but
you're also telling people, Oh yeah, I already know everything
that happens, or oh yeah this is gonna happen. You're
spoiling shit for people. You're acting like people are dunces
(30:33):
because they saw or didn't see the original you know,
the freaking Yellow Bick Road with Dorothy and them. Like,
just because someone saw that movie doesn't mean that they
automatically understand or know what happened and Wicked two. And also,
(31:01):
this is a completely different thing. This is a screen adaptation, right,
It would be completely different if this was the play,
like it was like Hamilton, like it was the play
and it was just put on Disney Plus and it
was what it was. No changes, no additions, no pacing.
(31:25):
So it can be a movie and not a play,
no nothing, So which crazy. That's what really really rustles
my spurs is like you also don't know what the
fuck is gonna happen, Like, yeah, you know more than me,
(31:45):
but you don't know what they're gonna add you don't
know what they're gonna change, So stop acting like you're
better than people and fucking let people have fun. My goodness,
what is wrong with you. And that's why people hated
theater kids so much, because not only do they always
(32:08):
just like our attention seekers and like make everything about
them when failed actors most of the time, like and
just they just make you feel like shit for being
excited or being ignorant about certain things just because you
were able to see this on stage and you really
(32:30):
got no business talking about how, Oh I ready know
what happens. Okay, but guess what, it's never been in
a movie form before. You haven't heard the way Ariana
Grande did it. You haven't heard the way Cynthia revote,
we revote did it. You don't know this matter morrible.
You don't know this, Dorothy, You don't know that. You
(32:52):
don't know everything. How is you clue? Now now that
I got that off my chest, I swear like I
am not a bully, but like that really like pisses
me off. Stop telling people like, oh, you should know
(33:14):
what happened because you saw the Wizard of Oz or
obviously this happens and this person turns into that person,
and this person does this and that, and didn't you
see from the trailer that obviously this happened, and shut
your ass up, my god so insufferable, Like, let's just
(33:37):
watch the fucking preview. Let's let people be happy. Let's
let people ask are you gonna go see the movie?
And you know what you respond if you saw it
on Broadway? No, I already saw it on Broadway, So
I don't feel like I need to see it see
the movie. I want to keep that experience or like,
you know, no, yes or no or yeah, I saw
(34:01):
it on Broadway, and I'm interested in seeing what they
do on this new one. But what you need to
not do is to simply say I already saw the shell.
Shut the fuck up, like you don't know. And it's
like some some of them, Okay, I'll give you the
(34:22):
benefit of the doubt. Some of them are not trying
to be snobs. They're just theater kids shut out. Like
I wouldn't say that I was a theater kid, but
I understand theater culture, okay, Like I went to a
performing arts elementary school. Obviously, I have a show on
(34:42):
pop culture. Obviously I know the movies a lot. I
don't identify as a centophile. I don't identify as a
theater kid. I've been in a show, a show or
two in my life I've been on stage. I know
what the spotlight is like. But I would never like
(35:03):
be like you already saw, Like, Okay, So for example,
if hmm, how do I put this? Oh, you know
how many fucking Cinderellas they made, whether it's the regular
Cinderella or the live action Cinderella or another Cinderella story.
(35:23):
I'm never going to be that person that's like and
then I already saw Cinderella. If someone asked me, hey,
are you gonna go see Cinderella, like bitch, I'm gonna say, yeah,
I want to see what they do in this new one.
I want to see who they're going to get to
play the Cinderella in this another Cinderella story. I think
(35:46):
it's it's also time for another Cinderella. The last one
was with uh Comia Cabello, and that shit was horrible. Sorry,
I think it's time for us to admit it. Well, no,
a lot of you were saying that when it came out,
but I'm like trying to reserve. I'm trying to reserve
you know, the criticism. It's been a few years now
and I can confidently say that that was the worst
(36:07):
adaptation of Cinderella I've ever seen, and I've seen so
many adaptations, so many like a niche adaptations that like
other people like haven't even heard of. And there are
like movies that are loosely based on Cinderella that I've seen,
and I've seen a lot of bad, bad, bad takes
(36:27):
on Cinderella. But that shit was just woo and Sneakrella.
Did you guys remember Sneakrella? What the fuck was that about? Anyways,
I've been an off topic here, but yeah, So the
Wicked trailer is so good.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
Because I know you I have been changed.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
Fool good and like, oh my god, when she goes
look at me and then like Gwinda looks her and
then she's like with not from your eyes, but from
their eyes, and I'm just like, oh my god, my
heart by just my soul is being ripped out of
(37:15):
my body. I mean, just how beautiful.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
It looks, how beautifully it's directed, how beautifully it's acted,
the thought that's put into the design, the costume itself.
And even though I know I am going to like
(37:39):
the first part better than the second part, sorry, I
just am, because you know, obviously the second part is
like where the meat happens the beef happens, the room
where it happens happens in the second part, Like, yeah,
I know, we're really like getting to it, but that's
not really why Again, Like I told.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
You, I don't really watch stuff for that. Like I
watch stuff for the fun parts. I watch stuff for
the romance. I watch stuff for like I want to
see and I want to see so much more of
their friendship because they don't really show a lot of
them being close friends. Like, yeah, they have the ball,
(38:24):
she sings, she sings popular, and they travel to the
Emmeral city and then they go and meet the fucking
wizard and that's pretty much what we see of their
friendship and the then the second part, obviously they're not
going to be uh friends like that. So I'm going
(38:49):
to love it because I love the songs, I love
the story, I love like I'm obsessed with Wicked, still
talking about it. I've been talking about it for a
straight year. There is literally not a month that goes
by that I do not rewatch Wicked. A matter of fact,
maybe after recording this I might go watch it. Damn.
(39:09):
I've been talking a long time. It's been about forty
minutes now, i'd be lying, y'all, I'm a yapper. I
can't help it. But so what I'm saying is is
that like, oh, I'm gonna like the first part better
than for Good, but I'm still excited for it. I
(39:30):
still like, uh, even though I know that someone turns
into the ten Man, someone turns into Hey, what's up
with this lion? Though? What's up with the Kurt the
cowardly Lion? Like maybe I mean it's too late, clearly
because that was the final trailer and the movie comes
out in essentially like six weeks or so, six week no,
(39:54):
like eight weeks or so. But what is of with
that line? Who's you that? Who rendered that? What was that?
Based on.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
Who you?
Speaker 1 (40:08):
People? Is? Like? That was very yeah, like y'all need
to redo that line. Y'all got time, y'all got money
to be frank, y'all got a lot of money, especially
since you made so much on the first part. It's
a phenomenon. But yeah, so we're gonna see nessa Rose
(40:30):
fly because she obviously you know, she's in a wheelchairs.
She can't walk, but she can fly, And that was
like good to see Ariyanner is gonna have her bubble,
and she's gonna have that bubble thing to step on
and be the good witch the bad bitch. Cynthia is
(40:54):
gonna serve those vocals and eat up those girl braids. Like,
oh my god, I'm so excited for this movie. I'm
so excited to see it with my friends. I'm so
excited to talk about with you guys on the podcast
and obviously, like on threads or on social media. I'm
(41:15):
so excited to like meme it. I'm so excited to
see what moments come from it. I'm so excited to
rewatch it. I'm excited for it to come to streaming
so I can buy it or make Kendrick buy it.
Like there's just so much joy coming when that comes out,
which is what we need desperately. And also, Cynthia and
(41:41):
Arianna did a show like recently a few hours ago,
actually talking about now, a few hours ago, Cynthia and
Ariana sung, you know, wicked songs for a special that
will be released, and I know that baby. They sung
(42:03):
the house down, blew the motherfucking top off, peeled its
cap back, blue Hole. So it's just two powerhouse women.
I A lot of the time, I'm like Oh my god,
why is this movie sweeping you know, the season? Oh
(42:25):
my god, they're so insufferable with these interviews, oh my
complaining about how you know, other people need to be
given a chance and other movies are so good and
blah blah blah, Like I'm not gonna lie. This was
a good year for movies for the most part. What
(42:45):
did I see this year? Child? What did I see
this year? I saw a lot, Like there was like
so many movies that came out, but there were there
were a lot of movies that came out, but I
just don't care, Like, just give it to Cynthia, give
(43:08):
it to Ariana, and like it's simple. They both need
to win. They both need to sweep all categories they got.
You know, like I was, I wasn't necessarily okay, but
I understood that this year it needed to go to
other people, even though it would never be Anora ever,
(43:34):
it needed to go to other movies. But next year,
I'm ready to be sick of them. Give me the
obnoxious interviews, give me the can't take my eyes off
of you, you can't take my hands off of you.
Give me the physical body language experts that give me
the breakdowns, give me it all. I'm so excited. But
(43:56):
I have been watching or listening to the Hamilton soundtrack again.
Don't know why. And yes, I know it was trending
over the summer, but in general, like I just I
don't know, like I just I love Hamilton, like it
was just wow just looking back at it and the
(44:18):
fact that it's been ten years is absolutely crazy. And
I want a spinoff or I need fan fiction or
I need I need something where we get more. And
I know it's trifling, but we need more Angelica and
(44:39):
Alexander Hamilton more. Where is the Angelica and Alexander Hamilton spinoff?
Where is the fanfic? Where is Like I want everyone
to reprise their roles. I want this same cast. Recently,
you know, they were doing Get Together and obviously if
(45:00):
you are into that, you probably saw Leslie Odom Junior
return to the stage and it was so good and
it's just like God, these people are so talented, just
even the writing though, it's hard for me to understand
how how Lynn Manuel Miranda not only wrote these songs,
(45:23):
but how he deconstructed and took creative license on this
story and you know, made it that and Obviously, this
is not something that everyone agrees with, and this is
not something that people feel that everyone feels like, oh,
it's history making and it's so cool. Some people take
(45:45):
offense to it, and I understand that, but I feel
like this isn't factual, Like this is clearly something that's
made up and it's not really like sensationalized. Obviously, Alexander
Hamilton was not a perfect man, and we actually saw
that in the play. But how many stories do we
(46:06):
have about someone who's not perfect, like you know, so
it just blew up and the fact that it has
such a diverse cast, it has such a talented cast,
what the casts went on to do. And even though
like we crack on Limb and Well Miranda, like he's
like the butt a lot of jokes like please don't
(46:28):
get limb and Well on this like why is it? Sorry?
Why are you and Percy Jackson please go somewhere else?
We crack on him a lot, and I know, oh,
I know, he was an insufferable theater kid. I know that,
like no one could stand lin Man wrote Miranda's ass
(46:52):
until he made it, and even till this day, sometimes
people are just like, hey, don't let him touch this
like he might be like a where we can like
James Gordon. But I it amazes me how he wrote
this show, how he wrote these songs, how how it
(47:13):
was casted, how it was produced, how everything about it
is just so amazing. Just go on, dizzey plus play
the single long version and have a time. And if
you don't really know who Alexander Hamilton is, that's also okay,
because I still don't really get what he did. Like, okay,
he built a bank and he cheated on his wife.
But all I care about really is look around, looking
(47:39):
around like I care about rede Elise Goldberry so deeply.
And Linn manwel Miranda's character, and she is going to
actually have a movie coming to theaters for a few weekends.
I believe that talks about her role in Hamilton and
(48:00):
and how she balanced it with being a mom, And
hopefully I'm able to watch it and it's playing near me.
But support this amazing black woman who has just my god,
she's such a powerhouse, like her voice, just everything about
her is just amazing. So shout out to let miel
(48:23):
Miranda shout out to Renee's Coldberry, like shout out to
Leslie Junior and Anthony Ramos are out of the bois,
like just so many like strong people on stage giving it.
They're all And I don't even fuck with George Washington
at all, Like I don't fuck with the man. And
I know that that's such a funny thing to say.
(48:46):
I do. I don't. I don't fuck with Georgia Washington,
not my you know, not my cup of tea, don't.
I don't have beef with him. And he's also dead.
But the guy who plays George Washington, the husband from
and just like that, when he sings before he like
(49:09):
steps down as president or whatever the fuck happens, when
he sings, that is a voice anointed by God. Goose
bumps every single time, Like bring me the goosebumps. Like
maybe I don't know what you're talking about, but sang
sang baby, Like you have to get up and testify
(49:31):
for a voice like that. I mean, everyone was a
great singer. Well I wouldn't say great, but everyone could
sing on this cast, on this Broadway show. But you
know my favorite music, Oh that's another show. I'm not
gonna rank my favorite musicals because then it's gonna be
another like forty minutes. Oh, Camp Rock three is coming
(49:54):
out and Damie Lovado is not gonna be in it,
which I I feel like, high key she's going to
be in it. We're gonna see her, it's only natural.
But if we are going with the narrative right now
that she's not going to be in it, even though
we saw her Renette with the Jonahs brothers, I think
(50:17):
that that's some bullshit because she's going to be an
executive producer from what I hear. If it's not true,
then I take all of it back. But allegedly she's
going to be an executive producer, not gonna be in
the movie. And I feel like if she simply wasn't
in the movie and didn't have anything to do with it,
(50:38):
I would understand that that caused her so much trauma
to the point of like that's what's set off her
one cherry warning, eating disorder, drug addiction, mommy issues, like
so many different things, like she's such a troubled young
(51:00):
lady who is lucky to be alive and unfortunately it
started with stunning with a chance and Camp brought and
the fame of you know that. But yeah, if she
was simply not a part of it. I respect it,
(51:23):
but if you're going to be a producer on it,
now you're contributing to something that that you did a
whole documentary about and it allegedly like fucked you up,
but you don't mind taking the money from it and
(51:46):
producing it. Like I don't know, Like it just seemed
very hypocritical to me personally, But the mug is muggy,
she looks good having listened to her new music. But
wish her well. That's pretty much it, guys. Honestly, fifty
one minutes is ridiculous for a solo episode. So I
(52:07):
appreciate if you have been us sticking, sticking around. I
do have a question though, like, oh, first of all,
I want to think I want to think so many
people who have donated to the sickle Cell fundraiser. I
mean it is the twenty fifth and I'm eighty five
percent of the way there, eighty five percent from people
(52:32):
like you. God, bless you, God keep you. I wish
nothing but like positive things for you. You have helped so
many people with sickle cell, and you have even the
people who couldn't help, but you shared. You have like
(52:53):
that everything that every little thing that you do that
you don't think matters matters like you brought you brought
attention to this and I'm going through some more stuff
which I'll probably tell you about, but I want to
keep this positive, like, thank you so much. Share, donate
if you can. I know that y'all get paid on Friday,
(53:13):
so I'm gonna be sharing this because this is sickle
sell Awareness month, Okay, so make sure that if you
can help help out, it goes directly to people with
sickle cell without stressing them out and making them do
this and do that and fill out then to fill
out that and feel them wanted. But last question, quick question, also,
(53:36):
why are would have been running from? Seriously the amount
of run clubs that have popped up recently, like mail
run clubs. This alarm me and I thought maybe I
finally figured it out cause it was supposed to be
the rapture. However it didn't happen yet. So what are
(54:01):
you guys doing? A man will do everything but go
to therapy. Why are you Why are you as a
man getting up and running with other men? They used
to go to war and now they're in run clubs.
Like I'm not shouting on you for exercising like this.
This is obviously like this is obviously not meant to
(54:25):
be dead serious, but kind of like, what are you doing?
Why are you as a man in a run club?
Go to therapy? Please and stop pissing me the fuck off.
All right, you guys, I will be back soon, hopefully
with well, no, I'm gonna be back soon. I won't
(54:46):
say what the guests is just yet, but I will
have a guest soon. I have a couple people I
want to talk to a couple of things I want
to talk about. And thank you for listening, Love you
and talk to you for sure. Ski on Saturday five
