Dr. Jian Zhang, CEO at Chinese Hospital, has spent over 30 years shaping the healthcare landscape through relentless dedication, education, and leadership. Starting her career as a nurse, she worked across various departments, including emergency care, maternal and child health, and case management. Jian’s journey of growth saw her return to school to become a family nurse practitioner, leading the development of clinics and healthcare centers for two decades. By 2017, her passion for patient care and executive leadership propelled her to the role of CEO, where she continues to expand and innovate healthcare services for the community she has long served.

As the CEO of Chinese Hospital, a community-based acute care hospital in San Francisco, I lead a team of dedicated professionals who provide culturally competent and quality health care services to the diverse and underserved population. With over 20 years of progressive experience in hospital and clinics, health plan, and medical group management, I have a strong track record of strategic planning, business development, physician recruitment, leadership development, crisis management, operation, marketing, growth, expansion, turnaround, innovation, clinical practice, fund development, government affairs, and public relations.

I am also a Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Francisco, where I teach and mentor the next generation of nurse practitioners and health care leaders. I hold a Doctorate in Nursing Practice with a focus on health care system executive leadership, and I am a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. I have published multiple articles on diabetes, hepatitis and breast health, and I have been recognized as a Distinguished Woman of the Year and a Forbes 50 Over 50 Innovation List honoree for my leadership in the COVID-19 pandemic and my efforts to address health disparities and improve health care equity and access. I was recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives for 2024.
