Bright Threads in the Tapestry

I read and discuss four passages from the Malazan Book of the Fallen - three from Toll the Hounds and one from The Crippled God. I discuss how I thought the scenes were various effective, evocative, and funny all while being extremely short :)

I read and discuss a passages from The Curse of The Mistwraith - the first book of The Wars of Light and Shadow series by Janny Wurts. The passage tells the story of an 18000 year old story. I also go into some rambling about info dumps and "lived-in" feeling worlds.

In this episode we go over an intense and momentous game of chess between Paul and Ailel in The Summer Tree - which is the first book of The Fionavar Tapestry trilogy by Guy Gavriel Kay. I discuss why the scene resonated with me and how it very effectively lays the foundation for events to come later in the book and series.

I read and discuss four passages from Toll the Hounds - the Eighth book of the Malazan Book of the Fallen Series by Steven Erikson. Alternate chapters in Toll the Hounds follow an "accordion" structure of sorts where there is a poetic introduction to and conclusion of the events of the chapter. I go over 2 sets of examples of these introductory and concluding passages and admire the structure and writing in these passages...

I read and discuss a few passages from The Curse of The Mistwraith - the first book of The Wars of Light and Shadow series by Janny Wurts.
