Let's get started.
What is the best way to fasttrack your dream online business

(01:11):
?
If you're passionate, ambitiousand ready to make a change,
you've probably been dreaming ofstarting your own online
business, but perhaps you'rehesitant about leaving your
steady nine to five job oryou're not sure where to start.
Well, there's good news, because the best way to fast
track your online business is tolaunch it as a side hustle.

(01:34):
First.
It's the perfect stepping stoneto fast tracking your business,
and what it does is allow youto test the entrepreneurial
waters while still maintainingyour financial stability in your
nine to five job.
In this episode, we're going toexplore all the reasons why
starting a side hustle is thebest way to kickstart your

(01:57):
entrepreneurial journey.
It can feel daunting whenyou're starting a business let's
be real here but when you beginyour business as a side hustle,
you're actually taking positivebaby steps towards your larger
goal, and that's a really smartthing to do.
This approach allows you tojust ease yourself into being an

(02:20):
entrepreneur, find yourbusiness feet without any of
overwhelm or pressure that oftencomes with just quitting your
day job, because if you justquit your day job, that's a
whole lot of pressure.
You've not only got to supportyour business, you've also got
to have your business supportyour life.
That your nine to five wasdoing, and when you've just

(02:41):
started your business, it's notcapable of doing that yet.
And it also allows you toexplore your business ideas,
explore the industry, startmarketing, start getting your
first clients and start gettingsome money coming into your
business while you've still gotthe security of your nine to
five and it's a good, smartthing to do.

(03:04):
You're backing yourself bystarting your business, but
you're still supporting yourselfbecause you still need to look
after all those things in yourlife.
They're not just gonnadisappear because you've decided
to start a business.
The other thing it does isallows you to validate your
ideas, validate your conceptsand your offerings.

(03:25):
You can craft your offersreally strategically without
just guessing and bettingeverything on your business from
day one.
So a little tip is to startdedicating a few hours every
week to your side hustle and asyou gain confidence and as your
business starts to grow, you cangradually increase the time

(03:46):
that you invest there.
You're going to create goodhabits early, while you've still
got the protection of your nineto five job.
You're going to need to jugglenine to five personal life and
your business, but you can do it.
And if you're only startingwith a couple of hours a week,
two, three hours a week, it'snot a huge time investment but

(04:07):
the rewards are going to benefityou 10 fold down the track.
Good idea to start investingregular time into your business
and getting into thatentrepreneurial mindset, getting
into the good habits, whileyou've still got the protection
of your regular income.
Now, side hustles usually comeabout because you're passionate.

(04:28):
You've got something you loveto do.
You've got something you'vereally want to do.
You just got this burningdesire to create a business out
of an idea or something that youalready do.
If you're starting aproduct-based business, you
might already make handmadejewelry, so you wanted to put
together an Etsy store.

(04:48):
If you're really great atsocial media, you might be
wanting to start as a freelancesocial media manager.
You might be a freelance writerwanting to go more into
copywriting.
That's how I started mybusiness, so I was a freelance
writer and then moved intocopywriting.
Building a side hustle aroundwhat you're good at and

(05:08):
passionate about, you're reallysetting the stage to build a
business that you love, andthat's what this is all about
Building the business and lifeyou adore.
So if you start where yourpassion lies and then work out
if it's going to be a profitablepassion because there's no
point doing something if it'snot going to pay the bills or

(05:30):
not going to pay for thelifestyle that you want, so work
out if it's going to pay foritself You're starting in a
really beautiful place, becausenot only are you spending your
days doing something you loveevery single day, you'll also be
getting paid for it.
That's pretty fantastic.
Start thinking about what youenjoy and if you can monetize

(05:51):
that.
Finances are a significantconcern when transitioning into
entrepreneurship.
We've already discussed how aside hustle means that you can
keep your steady income whileyou're building your business,
which is going to ease thefinancial burden of starting
your business.
You're not going to be relyingon your business to both pay for

(06:12):
itself and pay for your lifewhen it can't yet, because
that's unreasonable.
So keeping your nine to five isgoing to mean that you can
still pay for your life whileyour business gets up and
running.
Also, while you're buildingyour business and getting your
first few clients, you want thatmoney to do three things.
You want to build a stash ofcash so that you can reinvest

(06:36):
some of the money into yourbusiness to grow it.
You want to invest intechnology or programs that are
going to streamline things orautomate things, make your life
easier.
You want to be able to investit into some sort of marketing,
if that's where you'd like toput it.
You also need to put some moneyaside to save for a rainy day,

(07:00):
so that when your client load islow and you're not getting the
income that you normally do, itdoesn't matter, because you've
got money sitting there.
Plus, you want to also putmoney aside for your taxes
Always put money aside for yourtaxes.
So you want to be having a taxaccount, having your emergency
account and also reinvestinginto your business.

(07:22):
So when you're first starting,if you still have your nine to
five job, that's paying for yourlife, so that you can
concentrate on growing yourbusiness without the stress and
the financial overwhelm.
It allows you to more easilydirect these funds in a
strategic way.
That's going to help you downthe track.
That means you're going to beimmediately profitable, you're

(07:44):
going to immediately have morefreedom and you're going to be
building up this nice cashreserve while you're still in
your nine to five, and that'sgoing to help you have more
freedom to learn and experimentand grow your business without
all the pressure.
So use your regular income tofund your life while you're

(08:05):
using the income from your sidehustle to fund the business.
You might want to tap into yournine to five funds occasionally
and put some of your savingsinto the business while it's in
the early startup stages, andthat's absolutely fine and most
people do that anyway.
It's always good to start witha couple of thousand dollars in
your business bank accountbefore you even start, just to

(08:28):
get the wheels turning, andthat's obviously going to come
from your nine to five job moneythat you've already saved.
One of the advantages ofstarting a side hustle is you
learn while you earn.
The best classroom in the worldis often the real world, and a
side hustle is your front rowseat to entrepreneurship.

(08:50):
You're going to learn how tomanage your clients, how to
market your services, how tohandle the finances that we've
been talking about, how torecognize problems before they
become problems, how totroubleshoot them, and these are
all really practical, invaluable lessons that are
going to get you into theentrepreneur mindset.

(09:13):
They're going to increase yourskillset.
They're going to set you up sothat you have a really
successful business down thetrack.
So you're going to learn allabout sales, marketing, customer
service, accounting everythingwhich is crucial for when you
transition from your full-timejob into being a full-time

(09:35):
business owner.
So take advantage of onlineresources, attend webinars, get
free courses to build up yourentrepreneurial skills, do paid
courses in the services that youprovide so that you're really
solid in your skillset and thatway you can provide more value
to your clients, which means youcan charge higher prices to

(09:57):
your clients as well.
The more value you provide yourclients, the higher your
pricing can be.
Your pricing structure alwaysneeds to be value-based.
That's where you're going toreally go leaps and bounds ahead
in the profitability of yourbusiness.
Another reason it's wonderful tostart your business as a side
hustle is because, while you'restill in your nine to five,

(10:20):
earning that regular income, you're able to really build up
your brand and your audiencewhile you're still in your nine
to five.
Having an online presence isabsolutely crucial for any
business, and your side hustleis the perfect platform to start
building your brand andaudience.
You can start experimentingwith different brand elements.

(10:44):
You can work on refining yourmessaging.
You can really hone in on whoyour target audience is and
start speaking to them in areally real way.
That's going to connect, sothat by the time you transition
into your full time business, you're going to have a wonderful

(11:05):
dedicated following and arecognizable brand, and you're
already going to have veryconsistent income and repeat
clients before you've evenreally gone all in.
So that is such a great way tofast track growing.
Your business Started as a sidehustle and you can do that with
the safety net of your nine tofive.

(11:26):
One way to start building arecognizable brand is to set up
your social accounts and tostart consistently sharing
really valuable content andengaging with your audience on.
That's going to makeconnections, it's going to help
you get your first clients andit's going to build that brand
recognition.

(11:47):
And so once you do go full timein your business, people always
go to your social pages tocheck you out.
They always do.
So you'll have all this contentthere already.
You will have interactions withother people.
They'll sort of be able to know, like and trust you from seeing
how you've interacted withothers previously.

(12:07):
So that's going to help youmove your business forward more
quickly.
Another beauty of having a sidehustle starting your business as
a side hustle is theflexibility and the low pressure
, because you're not relying onyour side hustle as a full time
gig.
It takes so much pressure offyou because you can just know

(12:29):
that you've got that regularincome and you're going to work
on your business at night or onthe weekends or during holidays,
whenever you've got spare time, and there's no rush.
There's no pressure to meetsole financial needs from
starting up, and thisflexibility allows you to grow
your business at your own paceand align with your own life and

(12:51):
the flow of your life, becauseeveryone's life flows
differently and we're all abouthaving a beautiful flow.
We don't want the hustlementality.
So you can start your businessand start making a really good
income while you're still in thenine to five, and it just
alleviates all that pressurebecause you're not relying on

(13:13):
your business to do everythingthat you nine to five is doing
before it's ready, becausethat's going to kill your
business, it's going to killyour dreams, it's going to kill
your passion, it's just going tostress you out and you want to
avoid that at all costs.
Now I think I touched brieflybefore on validation, so I'll
just go into that a little bitmore here.
While you're starting yourbusiness as a side hustle, you

(13:36):
can really dig deep intovalidating your idea.
Now, not every business ideayou have is going to work.
Some are just going to bomb, they're going to be ridiculous.
They might sound good at thetime and then five minutes later
you think what on earth was Ithinking?
Some concepts may sound greatin theory but really just don't

(13:57):
work, and this is where yourside hustle can be a good
testing ground for you.
You can validate your businessoffers.
You can gauge the marketinterests, you can refine those
offers and make all theadjustments after you've done
market research to really createthe right offerings for your
business at the right pricepoint.

(14:18):
One mistake a lot of businessowners make is not refining
their offers early enough intheir business journey.
So you'll get a lot of peoplewho start their online business
and they just put together whatthey think is the right offer
and it'll be two or three yearsdown the track and they're
thinking I'm not really gettingany traction here and I don't
know why.

(14:38):
And it's usually because theyhaven't spent that early time
validating their ideas, gettingto know their ideal audience,
because they go on full instraight up, so there's a whole
lot of pressure, so they haven'tbeen able to have the time,
they didn't give themselves thespace to do all this early

(14:59):
validation which is so crucialto your long-term success.
So if you can do that, it willreally help propel your business
forwards more quickly, particularly once you do go all
in, and you'll have theconfidence knowing that once you
have transitioned out of yournine to five and you're full
time on your business.
You know exactly who you'retalking to.

(15:21):
You validated your ideas, yourpricing is on point, so you just
hit the ground running andfiring on all cylinders.
It's really good idea to startvalidating your business ideas,
refining your offerings andmaking all those changes early
on, so that you're raring to go,and you can do this by using

(15:43):
your social media platforms.
You can start a conversationwith potential ideal clients or,
if you've worked with someclients before, you can do some
market research with them.
You can also just approachpeople and say hey, if you give
me 15 minutes of your time, I'llgive you 15 minutes of mine and
I'd love to chat to you aboutthis concept.

(16:03):
Would this be appealing to you?
And get your insights.
So that's a good way of gettingsome customer feedback so that
you can understand their needsbetter, so that you can then
create offers that are reallygoing to take off and sell.
Another benefit is minimizingrisks and stress.
The transition from your securenine to five to going full-time

(16:27):
as an entrepreneur can benerve-wracking.
Starting with a side hustle, like we've talked about,
minimizes the financial risks, but it also minimizes the
emotional risks.
You won't have all that ickystress so you can maintain your
safety net while you're buildingyour business on the side, and

(16:48):
this will allow you to reallyfocus on the joy of creating
something of your own and you'llbe able to really, if you've
started a passion project, justdive into what you're passionate
about.
It will free your mind to beopen to creativity, it will open
up your awareness and you'll beable to really focus on making

(17:10):
something special, makingsomething that's different from
everything that's out there.
And you won't be able to dothis if you've got stress and
pressure and your mind is justworried all the time.
So by staying in your nine tofive, you're really creating a
beautiful, harmonious emotionaljourney for your entrepreneurial
role, because starting abusiness is risky, but by

(17:35):
starting your business as a sidehustle, you're mitigating the
risks, they're reduced.
So if you've gone off on atangent, you've created
something you think is amazing, but then you've tried to
validate it with your idealaudience and it doesn't work out
and it just bombs, well, itdoesn't really matter, because
you can pivot and you can trysomething new without worrying

(17:55):
about losing your primary incomesource, because you've already
still got your primary incomesource.
Everything else you're earningnow is money for jam.
It's on the side side hustle,so everything you're earning in
your side hustle is in additionto what you were earning before.
So there's no risk.
It allows you to not be afraidand because being afraid is a

(18:18):
danger to your business, ifyou're afraid it holds you back.
Being afraid makes youprocrastinate, being afraid
makes you stop and you don'twanna stop.
You wanna keep moving forwards, you wanna keep progressing.
Every little step, no matterhow short the step, is a move
forwards and that's what youwanna keep focusing on.
By taking away this risk meansyou're free and you're relaxed

(18:43):
and your creativity can sparkand make something very special.
Another great way of maximizingyour nine to five while you're
building your side hustle is touse the opportunity for
networking.
Networking is a very underratedpart of growing your business.
I know for myself personally90% of my business comes from my

(19:08):
networking.
Networking and referralsDoesn't come from the social
media, doesn't come from a lotof other places where I spend
energy.
It comes from the networkingand the referrals.
And you don't get referralsunless you've got a network and
some past clients.
So networking really is a hugecornerstone of creating success

(19:30):
in your business and whileyou're working in your side
hustle, you can seek outpotential collaborators.
Start working with some mentorsI talk often about how important
mentors and coaches are for thesuccess of your business,
personally and professionally.
It's so important Can't stressthat highly enough and you can
also start getting to know otherpeople in your industry, other

(19:55):
people with similar butdifferent businesses who might
have the same audience as you,so you can maybe do some
collaborations with.
That are gonna benefit both ofyou.
And just getting out there andjoining the community, getting
in your local community, onlinecommunities, connecting with
people it's going to help getyour business known throughout

(20:16):
the community.
It's going to get referralscoming in and such an invaluable
source of business.
Plus, you're also going toconnect with people who can give
you some guidance and supportas you grow.
You know they may not beofficial mentors, but having
that relationship with otherbusiness owners is only going to

(20:38):
help you because they've allbeen where you've been.
You haven't been everywhere yet.
You're just starting, so youneed to surround yourself with
people who are a few steps aheadof you so you can continue to
learn and grow, and it's such awonderful thing to do while
you're still in your nine tofive.

(20:58):
Do it really early, and it willreally set you up for success
down the track.
Starting your side hustle reallygets you into thinking like an
entrepreneur.
It will test your commitment.
You need a huge commitment tomake your online business a
success.
If you can make your business asuccess as a side hustle while

(21:21):
you're juggling a nine to five, there is nothing that's going to
stop you.
If you can do that, you'realready at success level because
you're already putting in theeffort that's needed.
You're already managing yourtime well.
You're already starting toprioritize what needs to be
prioritized.
You're putting aside thingsthat don't deserve your

(21:42):
attention now or at that momentor at all, and you're really
pursuing your dream.
You're doing all the thingsthat an entrepreneur needs to do
.
So if you can do that as a sidehustle, you've already trained
yourself in all these amazingqualities that are going to help
you for the entire lifetime ofyour business.

(22:05):
You don't need to be married toyour original business idea for
20 years.
What you need to be married tois the commitment.
You need to be married to doingthe thing, getting up every day
, doing what you need to do andmaintaining your passion,
maintaining your optimism andbeing proactive and just looking

(22:28):
at everything as an opportunity.
Your business ideas will change, your business focus and
direction will change over time,as you do, but it's the
commitment that should neverchange.
I've talked a bit already aboutfinances and benefit of having
that regular income.

(22:49):
I mentioned earlier aboutcreating that little stash of
cash and having one part forwhen times aren't going so well.
I just wanted to touch on thata bit more.
It's that financial buffer thatyou need to build up for those
unexpected expenses and thefluctuations in income.

(23:10):
Your side hustle is buildingyour financial buffer for those
lean times.
It's that safety net thatallows you to weather all the
storms that are going to come, because this is not going to be
a smooth ride.
You'll be able to build that upwithout compromising the
sustainability of your business.
If you're building up a steadybank account, that's your

(23:33):
emergency fund, your growth fund, your whatever you want to call
it.
It doesn't matter what'shappening on a day-to-day basis,
whether you have a good month,a bad month, a bad view month.
If you've got this stash ofcash put aside, it's not going
to bother you.
You're going to just be able togo oh yeah, I can pay that, I

(23:54):
can pay that and you're stillgoing to be able to reinvest,
because another thing to keep inmind is and this is what most
people don't do, so it's a hugetip that I'll give you straight
up when business is slow, mostpeople stop investing in their
business, they stop advertising, they stop promoting, they stop

(24:14):
being really active becausethey're in scarcity mode.
They're scared and they think,oh, I've got to put the brakes
on.
That is the absolute wrongthing to do.
You need to do the completeopposite.
When business is slow, you needto ramp it up.
So if you've got this financialbuffer, you can do that.
Business is slow.
Don't sit there and hang ontight to everything.

(24:36):
That's when you need toactually spend some money on
some advertising.
That's when you need to startspending some money on doing
other things or creating otherproducts, or thinking outside
the square for ways ofregenerating income, of
regenerating new clients.
Having that financial buffer isgoing to allow you to do that

(24:56):
easily, without any stress.
You'll think, yep, I got thatmoney there.
I can do that.
I need to throw some money atsome ads right now because
business is drying up, ratherthan going into scarcity mindset
and hanging on for dear life.
You've got to let it go.
You've got to start spendingsome money to get some money in.
That's a big tip that mostpeople don't do.

(25:18):
And if you do do it, you'regoing to be so far ahead of the
game.
And one of the most compellingreasons to start a side hustle
is that you can transition intofull-time entrepreneurship
whenever you like.
You can do it on your terms.
You can do it when you feellike it, with no pressure.

(25:38):
If your business has got to apoint where all the stars are
aligning, you've got your nineto five here.
You've got your side hustlehere, and your side hustle
income has actually overpassedor superseded your nine to five
income.
You might start thinking, hey, this is looking pretty good.
I can just ditch my nine tofive now, because that's the end

(26:01):
goal, isn't it?
You want to leave the nine tofive.
You're just using it as asafety net for now, which is a
really smart thing to do.
But there's going to come a daywhere you just don't want to do
it anymore or you don't need todo it anymore, and you're going
to have the freedom to choosewhen that day is, and having
freedom is one of the reasonsyou start your business in the

(26:22):
first place.
You want time freedom, you wantchoice freedom, you want travel
freedom.
You want all the freedomfinancial freedom.
Well, this is one aspect ofthat freedom model for when you
have your own business.
Starting your business as aside hustle is such a clever
thing to do and, yeah, you canmake that transition whenever

(26:44):
you're ready, as early or aslate as it feels comfortable for
you.
Now, many people start a sidehustle in a field that they're
passionate about like we'vealready talked about, in
something that's different fromtheir day job, and this is
really going to make yourbusiness so much more enjoyable,
so much more fulfilling, andthe side benefit of that is it's

(27:09):
going to lead to a better worklife balance.
The flow is going to bebeautiful because nothing is
competing with you.
If you're spending your timedoing something you love, you
don't feel like you're having tocompromise on where you spend
your time.
When you're spending familytime, you love doing that, so

(27:30):
that's a joy.
When you're spending time withyour friends, you love doing
that, so that's a joy.
When you're spending time inyour business, you love doing
that, so that's a joy.
So everything is a beautifulflow.
There's no hustle.
You take the hustle out of theside hustle and it leads to that
beautiful work life balance, the work life flow.

(27:51):
You also need to set someboundaries so that you can get a
little caught up in doing yourside hustle.
I know I did and for many yearsI overworked, spent far too
long working when I shouldn'thave, and it's because I enjoyed
it and I got tunnel vision andgot totally engrossed in my side

(28:12):
hustle and then in my full timebusiness.
So you want to avoid itencroaching on your personal
time.
So you need to sort of set someboundaries with yourself to
make sure that that doesn'thappen and that will help make
sure you've got that beautifulwork life flow.
We've touched on a lot ofthings today and the main
takeaway would be that startinga side hustle isn't just a

(28:36):
stepping stone into yourentrepreneurial life.
It's actually the launch pad.
It's going to launch you in away that wouldn't happen
otherwise.
You can test things, you canlearn, you can grow, you've got
financial stability and canbuild your business and get
clients.
So it's pretty amazing.

(28:57):
It's actually going to reallyset the stage for a successful
full time online business whenyou choose for it to be full
time.
If you've been hesitating topursue building your dream
online business because of fear, because of uncertainty, because
of financial concerns, rememberthis A side hustle gives you

(29:20):
the power, a side hustleempowers you to fast-track your
entrepreneurial journey.
It is your ticket to turningyour dreams into reality, one
step at a time.
So embrace the side hustle andlet it lead you to the thriving
