an episode, and it also helpsus to be able to keep creating
more great content and reachmore people.
Now let's get into scaling yourbusiness while maintaining its

(04:03):
core values, and that startswith understanding what
sustainable scaling is.
When we talk about scaling yourbusiness, we're looking at
growth that is smart andsustainable, meaning you can do
it for the long term.
That's all.
Sustainable means doing it longterm.

(04:23):
It's like nurturing a plant ifyou want it to grow, but if it
shoots up too fast, it may nothave the strong roots that it
needs to be able to thrive.
Sustainable scaling is aboutbalance and intention.
It's growth that is planned andpaced so that your business can

(04:46):
stay healthy but, importantly, also stay true to what made it
great right at the verybeginning.
Sustainable scaling is simplylike building a house.
I know I use the house buildinganalogy a lot and I'm using it
again today.
So you start with your solidfoundation, which is represented

(05:08):
by your core business valuesand your mission, and as you add
, each brick on top of eachother, building this business.
Or, if you want to relate thosebricks to business terms, it's
each new client, each newproduct, each new service you
create.
You're careful to make surethat you lay those bricks with

(05:32):
the same care and commitment toquality as the very first one,
and this way, as the structureof your business grows taller,
it remains sturdy and true toyour original vision.
As your business expands, itcan be quite easy to lose sight
of what made it uniqueoriginally.

(05:55):
Sustainable scaling involvesembedding your core values into
every aspect of your businessgrowth.
It means training new teammembers or virtual team members
to understand not just whatthey're doing, but why they're
doing it.
You want to get back to the why, the purpose behind their work

(06:16):
that aligns with the business'sbroader goals.
You have so much more impact, such better results, if you
always stay firmly connected toyour why.
That's what propels you everysingle day, your why.
Now the pace of your scaling iscrucial.
Imagine you are a little babyand you're trying to run before

(06:42):
you can walk.
You're scooting around andyou're nappy on the floor and
all of a sudden you decideyou're going to run.
What's going to happen?
Nothing good.
You're going to fall over, you're going to hit your head,
you're going to hurt yourself.
You're going to cry to mommy.
That's because you're not readyto run yet.
You haven't even taken yourfirst steps.
The same goes for your business.

(07:04):
If you expand too quickly, youmay not have the systems, the
virtual support, the staff orthe resources in place to
support that growth.
Growing at a pace that you canmanage means you're less likely
to make missteps, you're lesslikely to fall over and hurt
yourself and you're less likelyto do things that will

(07:28):
compromise the quality orperformance of your business.
Every decision you make shouldbe strategic, whether that's
hiring new team members, virtualteam members, to choosing which
new markets to enter and whichopportunities to go after, and
it's not about saying yes toevery opportunity, but about

(07:50):
choosing the right opportunitiesthat align with your why and
where you want your business tobe in the future.
You don't have to accept everysingle opportunity that crosses
your path.
Most likely, you're going to bepresented many opportunities in
your business journey.
Some will be amazing, somewon't be, but when you're

(08:13):
looking at them, what you wantto do is look at them through
the lens of your why.
Why are you here?
Why are you doing what you'redoing, and does this opportunity
align with that?
Why is it going to help you getcloser to that If it doesn't
makes it very, very easy to sayan elegant no?

(08:35):
And if it does align, it makesit very easy to get excited, to
get on board and to take thatopportunity on and run with it.
So you want to be verystrategic about making the right
choices that are going to moveyou forwards and achieve your
why and keep in alignment withyour purpose.

(08:58):
Now, another way to help youachieve your why and to scale
and grow in a sustainable way isincorporating feedback into
your processes, because as yougrow, feedback really needs to
become the compass that'sguiding your business in
conjunction with your why.
You need to listen to yourcustomers, your clients, your

(09:21):
employees and even your ownexperiences.
They all give you very valuableinformation that can guide you
in your scaling efforts.
It's about making adjustmentsbased on what works and what
doesn't work, and making sureyour growth is responsive and

(09:41):
well informed.
And, finally, sustainablescaling is about being prepared
for change.
Now, as entrepreneurs, we lovechange, we chase it, we seek it,
we crave it and we embrace itwith open arms.
If you're not on board withchange, you need to get on board

(10:01):
with change.
You cannot grow, you cannotscale, you cannot evolve without
it.
Now, as your business changes,as it does grow, your role is
going to evolve.
You're going to shift fromdoing to overseeing, from
hands-on to strategic planningand preparing for these changes

(10:24):
mentally and practically.
Make sure that, as yourbusiness scales up, you are
ready to scale up with it.
This is where embracing a CEOmindset and acting like a true
leader, like the only leader inyour business, comes into play,
now more than ever before.

(10:45):
Way back in episode two, Italked about stepping into your
CEO shoes as a small businessowner, exactly what that looks
like and how to do it.
It's about embracing a top-downapproach to running your
business formulating very strongstrategies, focusing on
tangible results, delegating toyour team, communicating as the

(11:09):
leader and the importance ofsimplifying processes, cutting
through the fluff and focusingon what matters.
Also, mastering the art ofmoney management and practicing
patience.
When you embrace these CEOpractices and mindsets, you
really can make the rightdecisions for scaling your

(11:32):
online service business.
If you want to learn more abouthow to step into your CEO shoes
and what that looks like, dohave a listen to episode two.
I'll pop the link in the shownotes below.
I think it'll be very timelylistening to.
In conjunction with listeningto this episode, it's really
going to embed those practicesin your mind and help you

(11:55):
embrace them and, if you haven'talready, it's going to help you
incorporate them into yourdaily practices.
Very well worth having tolisten to episode two Now.
Through sustainable scaling, youcan expand your business
without sacrificing thequalities that made it
successful in the first place.

(12:17):
It's about growing not just forthe sake of getting bigger, but
for becoming better, becomingstronger, becoming more capable
of achieving the vision that youset out to achieve, while
giving you freedom and evenoutperforming the vision you

(12:37):
initially set out to achieve, because your vision when you
started could not possiblyenvision where you can go.
And now that you've got to thispoint, your vision is probably
even bigger than it was when youstarted, and this form of
scaling is going to allow you toachieve that, while giving you

(12:59):
freedom and when it's time toscale your business, the people
that you bring on board becomethe architects of your growth.
So it's really important to getthe right people on your team.
Firing or outsourcing isn'tjust about filling a spot.
It's easy to fill a spot, butit can actually be your undoing.

(13:22):
It can hurt your business andput you backwards if you fill a
spot and don't look at thebigger picture.
You want to find individuals whoare going to carry the torch of
your vision into the future.
It's essential to look beyondtheir resume and see the person

(13:43):
behind it and see if they are aperson who can grow with your
company.
You're not just building a team.
You're not just looking forworkers.
You are seeking partners inyour mission, advocates for your
brand and contributors to yourculture.
So it's really important to getthat into your head whenever

(14:05):
you're looking at adding to yourvirtual team.
I keep talking virtual becausethat's the most effective, most
cost efficient way of building ateam, rather than having
on-site team.
Building a team that resonateswith your core value starts with
very clear communication, fromthe job description to the
interview process.
Every single step should beinfused with your business's

(14:29):
mission, with your why.
It's not just about what you do, but why you do it, and being
clear in this and communicatingthis beautifully will attract
people to your business who areintrinsically aligned with your
vision and are excited by yourpurpose and want to get on board

(14:51):
.
They're the ones that are goingto go the extra mile, not
because they have to, butbecause they want to, because
they believe in the directionyou're headed.
When you're considering whoyou're going to work with or
outsource to also exploreuntapped talent pools and that
means looking in places you maynot have considered before,

(15:14):
places that aren't the norm, tolook for people to join your
team, so it could mean reachingout to community organizations,
getting into online forums, having conversations with people
inside them and people thatreally start to say things that
pique your attention and youthink they get it I need to

(15:35):
speak with that person.
They're the people you want.
Or even asking your clients ifthey know someone who would be a
great fit, because sometimesthe best team members come from
the most unexpected places.
You need to think about hiringfor attitude and training for
skill.

(15:55):
Skills can be taught, butpassion, dedication and a
positive attitude are innate.
You can't teach those things.
A person either has them orthey don't.
And a person with the rightmindset, they can learn anything
.
They can learn the ropes ofyour business.
You can teach them what theyneed to know and they can become

(16:18):
one of the best assets to yourbusiness.
They'll bring energy.
They'll bring fresh ideas thatcan really invigorate your
business and help you get toyour big picture vision.
They will help you travel thetrajectory that you need to.
Involving clients in the hiringprocess might sound
unconventional, but who betterto help you identify a great

(16:42):
team member than the people whoknow and love you and your
services the best?
They've got a vested interestin you and in helping you
succeed and they can give youvery unique insights into the
kind of people who would helpstrengthen your brand and your
business.
As you're building your team, focus on creating a culture of

(17:05):
growth, of learning, of mutualrespect and support.
Encourage their ideas, givethem opportunities for
professional development andcelebrate them.
Let them know when they've donesomething amazing or had a
great idea or something thatyou've been inspired by from
them, when your team feelsvalued and that you are invested

(17:30):
in them, they're gonnacontribute not just to your
growth but to the sustainabilityof your business, and it's
gonna be a joy to work with them.
They're going to contribute somuch more because they love
being a part of your vision anda part of you.
So remember that team buildingalso is an ongoing process.

(17:52):
As your business scales, yourteam's needs are going to evolve
.
You might need to take on more, you might need to change roles
and pivot all along the way.
So regular check-ins, feedbacksessions, team building
activities they're all gonnahelp maintain that beautiful
alignment that you've created inyour business and ensure that

(18:16):
all of you are moving togethertowards your common goals.
By carefully curating a teamthat shares your vision and your
values and goals, you help andcreate another solid layer in
the foundation of your businessthat's gonna help you scale.
It's about growing together, learning from each other and
building a business that's notjust bigger but is better and

(18:39):
more aligned with the visionthat set you on this path in the
first place.
Now imagine having thatbrilliant team, but amplified.
You've got all these diligent, amazing, talented, dedicated
helpers who never get tired, they never make mistakes and

(19:00):
they free you up to focus ongrowing your business and making
money.
This is automation, and that iswhat automation can do for you.
It's not about replacing people.
It's about enhancing the peoplewho are in your team, enhancing
their ability to contribute todoing more meaningful, creative

(19:23):
work.
And, in the world of scaling, automation is like finding the
secret passage that leadsstraight to efficiency and
making the people in your team'sjob easier so that they can do
even more, even better.
So start simple.
Look at the tasks you do everyday.

(19:44):
Your team does every day allthe things answering emails,
scheduling, social media posts, updating customer records,
delivering the services, themarketing, the sales everything
All these necessary, timeconsuming tasks.
They are prime for automatingand with tools designed for

(20:06):
these purposes, you can set themup once and let them run in the
background.
Your business keeps moving andyou get to reclaim so many hours
every single day.
And your customer service canbenefit greatly from automation,
too Chatbots, for example.
They can handle commoninquiries on your website,

(20:26):
provide instant responses topeople, no matter what time of
day or night it is, and thismeans your customers really feel
heard and helped even when noone's available to help them,
and for more complex issues, they can get all the initial
information that your team needsto make their job easier when

(20:46):
it's time for them to createthat human connection.
Marketing automation tools canalso transform how you reach and
engage with your audience.
They can personalize customerexperiences by sending targeted
messages at just the right time, instead of blasting out generic

(21:07):
campaigns.
Automation allows you tonurture individual customer
journeys and build relationshipsthat lead to loyalty and growth
.
And your business analytics.
They can also be automated, giving you real time dashboards
and lots of insights, whichmeans you can very quickly

(21:29):
understand how your business isperforming and then make really
smart decisions about where youneed to go, without having to
flip through countlessspreadsheets or reports.
With all of these tools, youare not just collecting data.
You're actually unlocking theirpower to guide your growth.

(21:50):
That's very powerful, and asyou introduce automation into
your business, do itthoughtfully.
Ensure that each automatedprocess does align with your
experience, with your goals, with your customer experience
goals and with the businessvalues.
The human touch is invaluable.

(22:11):
Automation should only enhanceit, not detract from it, and so
that the personal feel of yourservice is only elevated, not
detracted from.
Automation is an ally forscaling your business.
It's a tool, but it's not goingto replace the people.

(22:32):
You want to keep that personaltouch.
It's about working smarter, notharder, and letting technology
handle the heavy lifting.
So, with the right automatedprocesses in place, you can
really scale your businesssustainably and give you the
freedom to innovate andstrategize for the future.
As your customer base grows, your client base and demand

(22:55):
increases, you may find the needto scale your production or
services to keep up, and this isa pivotal moment for any
business, and getting it rightis crucial, and I imagine that
this is where you are right now.
Diversifying your offeringsmeans you can meet a broader

(23:17):
range of customer needs whilestreamlining what you already
provide, which is only going toenhance your efficiency, but
without sacrificing the qualityyour clients have come to expect
.
Partnerships can also be apowerful tool for scaling.
By collaborating with otherbusinesses, you can actually

(23:40):
expand your capabilities andoffer a wider array of services
to your clients.
For example, if you run amarketing firm and you partner
with a graphic design agency, you're then able to offer your
clients full package solutionswithout the need to hire an

(24:01):
in-house design team.
Perfect Strategic partnershipslike this can lead to shared
growth and success and access toan even larger client base,
because you'll be accessing theperson that you're collaborating
with, you'll be accessing theirclients as well.
Now the next step.
This is probably my favoriteand it's one I actively work on

(24:25):
within my own business becauseof the freedom it gives me as
the founder.
My favorite activity in scalingmy business is productising
services.
It is such an innovative way toscale your business.
Actually, inside my onlinecourse, startup Success, I teach

(24:47):
you how, right from the verybeginning of building your
business, how to productise aservice so that you have built
scalability into your businessright from day one.
That is a game changer.
Building scalability into yourbusiness from the outset will
change the trajectory of yourbusiness and allow you time and

(25:11):
financial freedoms.
That will blow your mind, andit's something that people don't
even think about when they'restarting their business, and
they only think about two, three, four years in, when they're in
this situation where they areso time strapped and stressed
that they've got to do something.
By doing it early, you avoidthat.

(25:34):
So I've made it part of startupsuccess because of that reason,
because it's something peopledon't even know is possible when
they're starting their business, and if they do incorporate it
at that stage, at the beginning,it opens up worlds of
opportunity and growth that willimpact their life, their

(25:56):
business, from the verybeginning.
It means they're going to avoida lot of the problems
associated with solely tradingtheir time for money, which is
the traditional nature of anonline service business.
So in startup success, I givethem the tools and the knowledge
to not be traditional, but tobe truly entrepreneurial and

(26:17):
creative in their approach tobusiness.
I think you can tell I'm quiteexcited about this topic and how
I can help so many womenachieve even greater success in
their business and their lifethan they've ever dreamed of
before.
So what exactly is productizingyour services?
It's quite simple it meansturning your services into

(26:40):
standardized, sellable products.
For instance, if you are abusiness coach, instead of
one-on-one sessions, you cancreate an online course that
distills your teaching into aformat that hundreds or even
thousands of people can access, and what this does is not only

(27:01):
free up your time, but itcreates a new revenue stream
into your business that is lessdependent on you needing to
directly provide the coaching.
Can you imagine the impact yourbusiness can have if your
coaching services could reachthousands of people instead of

(27:22):
just 50 per year?
The impact you create on yourclients and your business and
your freedom is mind blowing.
Templates and toolkits are moreperfect examples of productized
services.
They're the recipe of theservice world, providing the
steps and ingredients or, interms of business, the structure
and components for your clientsto achieve a desired result on

(27:46):
their own.
For example, a social mediaconsultant might offer a toolkit
for crafting a month's worth ofposts.
It's a one-time effort for youto create, but it can be sold
for an infinite number of times.
And the beauty of productizedservices is their scalability.

(28:08):
Once the initial timeinvestment is made in creating
these products, they can be soldall around the clock, all year
long, with minimal additionaltime required from you.
So this transforms your businessmodel from one that trades time
for money to one that has thepotential for unlimited income

(28:33):
and gives you, the founder, unlimited freedom.
With all the extra profitpouring into your business.
You can build a highly skilled, lean, remote team around you to
do all of the day-to-dayrunning of the business, which
leaves you free to focus on thehigh-level creativity and

(28:54):
money-generating thoughtleadership activities that will
allow your business to continueto grow and thrive even more.
So you can see why this is myabsolute favorite aspect of
scaling and why I'm sopassionate about it and why I
created Startup Success.
Startup Success I created tonot only help women build a

(29:18):
business that they love, but tobuild it in a way that is
scalable from day one and thatgets them out of a life they
just put up with and into a lifeand a business they adore, by
escaping the nine to five anddoing their own thing.
So investing the time todevelop these productized

(29:38):
services is indeed a gamechanger.
It allows you to leverage yourexpertise in a way that is not
limited by the number of hoursin the day.
You can serve more people, havea greater impact and grow your
business beyond what traditionalservice models allow.
It is a strategic move that canredefine your business and set

(30:03):
the stage for limitless growth.
Doesn't that sound amazing?
Limitless growth as yourbusiness begins to scale up.
It's like planting more seedsin your garden.
You want each new plant toflourish just like the first.
Now here I'm going to pick onMcDonald's.
Love them or hate them.

(30:24):
Mcdonald's are a great exampleof scaling a business.
Did you notice one importantthing?
I didn't say they're a perfectexample, I said they're a great
example.
There's a big difference.
What they've done very well iscreate a repeatable structure,
processes, branding andmessaging that are consistent

(30:48):
throughout every single store, throughout every single country
around the world.
They've got that down pat.
However, what they have notperfected is their quality
control.
Have you ever noticed that theimages of their burgers or their
fries or their whatever?
In their marketing campaign andadvertising campaigns they show

(31:13):
the most delectable, appealing, perfectly presented food that
you can imagine.
They show people amazed anddelighted by these gorgeous
burgers and they've got peoplesalivating at the very thought
of one.
But the reality is, dependingon what store you go to, you are

(31:33):
more likely to get a sloppy, tiny bun with a greasy meat
patty thrown onto it, messy mayo, wilting lettuce and a burger
that looks nothing like what wasrepresented in their
advertising.
It's going to look like it'sbeen thrown into a bag, shaken
around and thrown at you and youjust get that messy result.

(31:57):
They have their processes downpat, but their quality control
is appalling.
The presentation of the burgerdepends on the mood and the
interest level of the teenagerwho throws it into that
cardboard box.
And guess what?
That teenager is not committedor aligned to the values of

(32:19):
McDonald's.
That teenager is there for thepaycheck they get and the
ability to earn some money whilethey're daydreaming about what
they want to do with theirfriends on the weekend and
saving money for their first car.
And where does theresponsibility lie for this
lackluster outcome of qualitycontrol?
It lies very firmly with theMcDonald's management team.

(32:43):
Instead of hiring qualitypeople who are aligned to their
purpose, they opt for thecheapest labour, the shortcuts
and quantity over quality.
So in the delivery of thequality of the products they
advertise, mcdonald's hascompletely missed the mark.
You do not want to be theonline service version of a

(33:07):
McDonald's franchise.
Quality control is essential inevery business, and you've built
your business to a great level,so clients love you, you've got
great services and your qualityis there.
Quality checks and balancesshould be a part of your daily
routine of growing and adaptingas your business does.

(33:31):
They're not just stock gaps.
They are an integral part toensuring that each new product
or service you offer meets thehigh standards you've already
established.
Achieving the best qualitycontrol starts with building a
team that is aligned with yourpurpose and your values and
actually cares about deliveringon them.

(33:54):
Continuous improvement, qualitycontrol and your team members
they are the keys to maintainingyour quality, just as a
gardener is always learning, always tweaking the amounts of
sun or water or fertilizer thattheir plants get.
You should always be looking atyour processes and asking how

(34:14):
can we be better.
But remember, quality controlis not something you do once.
It's ongoing.
It's not enough to set upsystems and forget about them.
You need to be constantlymonitoring and adjusting, just
like that gardener does with theplants they're growing.
Now.
This might mean regulartraining for your team,

(34:35):
scheduled check-ins, productionprocesses and talking to your
clients.
Customer feedback is thesunlight that helps your
business grow in the rightdirection.
Listen to it, learn from it andlet it guide you.
If your customers are tellingyou something isn't working,
take it seriously, becausethey're the ones experiencing

(34:57):
your services and they can beyour most valuable source of
quality control.
As your business grows, youneed to find ways to keep that
personal touch alive, whetherit's through customer service,
personalized follow-ups orcommunity engagement.
This all helps to maintain thequality and character of your

(35:19):
brand.
Finally, don't be afraid topump the brakes if you feel your
quality is slipping.
It is far better to slow down, reevaluate and get things right
rather than pushing forwards tooquickly and compromising your
business's reputation.
Maintaining quality duringgrowth, particularly when you're

(35:42):
trying to scale, is a delicatedance, but it is one that's
absolutely critical to yourlong-term success.
Remember, when it comes toquality, it's not about the
speed of the growth but thestrength of your roots.
You do not want to be known asa McDonald's burger.
Scaling your business is likeplanting that garden, a garden

(36:05):
that's destined to grow.
It requires patience, nurturingand the right tools, but once
it blossoms, it rewards you withthe freedom to enjoy the beauty
that it holds.
So this is for you for the latenights, for the early mornings,
for the dreams you've heldclose to your heart.
Scaling your business is thepath to reclaiming your time and

(36:28):
making space for those dreamsto unfold.
Imagine a day that starts onyour terms, with a team you
trust, processes that run likeclockwork, where you no longer
need to manage every detail.
This freedom means enjoyingyour morning coffee without
rushing, taking the time tosavor the sunrise, knowing your

(36:50):
business is thriving.
It's about creating a spacewhere your creativity can
flourish, not in the narrow gapsin between tasks, but in the
expansive hours that you'vereclaimed.
This newfound time isn't just apause.
It's an opportunity tostrategise and innovate.

(37:11):
It's where you can dream bigger, plan your next bold move and
set the wheels in motion toachieve it.
And this freedom allows you tostep back and see the bigger
picture, to understand yourbusiness from new heights and to
continue to guide it with theclear vision re-hand as the

(37:33):
leader in your business.
But it's not just about business.
This freedom touches yourpersonal life deeply.
It's about more time withfamily, exploring passions
outside of work and caring foryour well-being.
It's the little things likereading a book, taking a long
walk, learning something new, things that now fit comfortably

(37:56):
into your day whereas theydidn't before.
For any entrepreneur on thebrink of scaling, this is about
crafting a life that's rich inmore than just business success.
It's about creating a legacy,building a story that
intertwines professionalachievement with personal
fulfilment.
It's about living fully, notjust working tirelessly.

(38:20):
And finally, remember, scalingis about unlocking potential,
not just the potential of yourbusiness, but of your life.
It's about those moments of joythat come from knowing you've
built something enduring andempowering.
So here's to the freedom, here's to the journey of scaling

(38:40):
and to the life you're shapingwith every single step you take.

purpose, intention and a firmgrasp on the values that define
