I'm your host, Samantha Bell, and this is the Brilliant

(01:10):
Business, Beautiful Life podcast.
Are you ready for the businessand life of your dreams?
Let's get started.
Today's episode is inspired bysome recent conversations I've
had with some women in businesswho are finding it really
difficult to navigate being anentrepreneur.
Now, these ladies started theirbusinesses to do what sets

(01:34):
their heart on buyer, to make adifference and to not get bogged
down with all the techy stufflike websites, blog posts and
social media.
Does that sound familiar to you?
And we actually need to havemore open conversations around
this topic because, honestly, itis the elephant in the room for
many female service providers.

(01:55):
So I want to dissect it herebecause it is such a relevant
point, and feelings of overwhelmaround running a business can
cause many women to decide thatenough's enough.
I've had enough.
I'm shutting the doors andgoing back to a nine to five job
.
Well, that would certainly beeasier.
Entrepreneurship is definitelya challenging ride, but let me

(02:19):
ask you this Is easier, better.
Would it make you happy andfeel fulfilled?
I mean, did you start yourbusiness to just jump ship and
go back to a job that stealsyour soul when things got rocky?
I'd say not.
Now here's what I truly believeTo grab hold of the
extraordinary, you've got totake bold moves.

(02:42):
I'm talking about major moves, risk taking and stepping well
outside of your comfort zone.
And it isn't just me who thinksthis.
If you've ever listened to TonyRobbins, marie Folio, steve
Jobs or Simon Sinek, you wouldhave heard them talk about this
concept, and it resonates withso many people because it's the

(03:04):
truth, but the problem is thatit's much easier said than done.
Saying all those words, especially when you're all fired
up and in the moment, is reallyeasy.
It's simple, but it's theconviction behind the words and
taking the action that's farmore complicated.
I've had lots of conversationsover the years with clients who

(03:26):
say I'm doing all these things,I'm going through the motions
every day, but nothing isworking and nothing is changing.
And that's where I switch intotough love mode, because the
truth is playing it safe.
Doing the bare minimum is justtreading water.
You're not going anywhere, andthis is what's keeping you small

(03:48):
and stopping your business frombecoming something amazing.
You've got to push, you've gotto learn, you've got to forget
about being comfortable to makethings happen.
You can't just launch a website, share it to your social media
and then sit back and wait forthe world to come to you.
It just doesn't work that way,and it's heartbreaking to see
amazing women in business quitand allow their bright, shiny

(04:12):
stars to fade out just as theyhit that three year itch, and
then they battle on their dreamswhen they're just starting to
get traction Because if onlythey could hang on.
It takes two to three yearsminimum, just to get off the
ground and to start finallyseeing some results from all of
your hard work and setting upyour business.

(04:33):
But after four years or fiveyears in, that is where you
start to see compounding growthon all of the wonderful
foundations you've laid in yourbusiness.
So what do you need?
You need to be the change thatyou want to see, and it's one of
the hardest things to embraceas an entrepreneur.
But the results of yourbusiness are solely up to you

(04:56):
and no one else, and quite oftenwhat I hear from the people
that I talk to are excuses.
I'm no good with tech.
I am terrible on camera.
I don't understand social media.
I hate Instagram.
It's so hard to get clients.
I can't get the message outthere.
I'm no good at writing Allthose things.
They are just excuses.

(05:17):
And you want to know why?
Because all of those things canbe learned or outsourced.
You can learn anything.
Your brain has an infinitecapacity to continue learning.
So if your business meansenough to you, you've either got
to decide you're going to learnthese things and implement them

(05:38):
and actually do the things, oryou're going to get the help
from someone who can do it foryou.
That's the choice.
That's what it comes down to.
It's as simple and complicatedas that.
So why would you throw away allyour hopes, all your dreams,
your passion and your hard workJust because it's easier for you

(05:59):
to stay in your comfort zone?
If you want to make big moves,if you want results, you have to
take the action, and it issolely up to you to make that
happen.
And it's time to stop makingexcuses.
Excuses don't work.
We could all make excuses.
Tony Robbins could have madethat excuse and if he did, he

(06:22):
wouldn't have the incrediblebusiness that he has today.
He wouldn't be empowering thelives of millions of people
around the world if he had usedthose excuses.
We all have the opportunity tosay those things Because we all
start at the beginning knowingnothing.
So it's up to us to decide am Igoing to sit in my comfort zone

(06:42):
and make excuses, or am I goingto get out of my comfort zone
and make it happen?
And the flip side of doing thisis it is empowering.
You can use that to fire you up, use it as your fuel, your
drive and your way to becomingthe success you've been dreaming
of.
It absolutely takes a lot ofhard work and a lot of effort.

(07:04):
Entrepreneurship is all abouthard work and effort.
It's all about living outsideyour comfort zone, but that's
what you signed up for when youstarted your business.
So what you need to do now isask yourself how badly do I want
to succeed?
How will I feel if I give upnow, just when things are

(07:25):
starting to pick up, and whatcould happen if I keep going?
And how will that make me feel?
Now, if any of your answers tothose questions point to you
feeling disappointed orconcerned over saying no to
opportunity and saying no toliving life on your terms and
saying no to making thingshappen, imagine how much more

(07:50):
disappointed you'll feel if yousay yes to letting go of your
dreams now.
Now, I did say the tough lovewas coming out, but it's really
important to ask these questionsand put a mirror in front of
yourself.
Really, look yourself in theeyes and ask why.
Have I really truly tried myhardest and given my business

(08:12):
every opportunity of success, orhave I been playing in the sand
pit, hoping my amazingsandcastle will suddenly appear
before me?
Am I waiting for opportunitiesto come to me or am I going out
and making them happen?
Really important to askyourself those questions Now.
When I look at myself, my peersand my clients who have seen

(08:34):
amazing success in their onlineservice businesses, there's one
thing in common there are noexcuses, there is no risk that's
too big.
They feel the fear, I feel thefear, but we all do it anyway.
So again, ask yourself have Ireally truly tried my hardest
and given my business everyopportunity of success?

(08:57):
Have I stepped outside of mycomfort zone and done the things
I'm most scared of doing?
And if your business isn'tgrowing, if you're thinking
about giving up right now?
I am guessing that the answeris no.
Ta-pla, I know, but you need tohear it Now.
If the answer is no, why?

(09:20):
What is holding you back?
Why are you so committed tostaying safe and feeling
comfortable and settling formediocre results and then being
disappointed because nothing ishappening?
What's the risk?
Ask yourself this what is theworst thing that can happen?
If you do something you'rescared of?
You'll fail, right.

(09:41):
So what?
As I say, all the time we growthrough failure.
We become better, stronger, wiser, more capable and more
insightful.
When we fail, embrace failure, try, fall, get down, get up, try
again and then keep rinsing andrepeating, because you cannot

(10:01):
grow, you cannot succeed withouttaking risks and failing.
Every single successfulentrepreneur around the globe,
every doctor, lawyer, sportsstar, artist, singer, model,
actor, anyone who has any levelof success they all take risks
and they all at some point failmiserably.

(10:22):
But what they do is get up.
They keep pushing on until theyget where they want to go.
They're tenacious and theydon't make excuses.
I want to say something veryimportant to you here.
I've been giving you the hardblow, the tough blow, but this
is a really important thing foryou to remember, and it is you

(10:44):
have already done the hardestthing.
You started.
Do you have any idea how farahead of the game you are just
by doing that?
So many people dream and talkabout starting their own
business, yet for the majority, that's where it stays.
It stays a dream of maybe oneday thought.
But you, you did it.

(11:05):
You put your heart where yourwords are and you started.
You created a concept, you gotyour website up and running, you
wrote copy, you've builtservices packages and you've got
your first clients.
You're already working, doingamazing things, making an impact
in the world, and that isincredible.

(11:25):
You've now got systems in placeand the groundwork is all set
up, just ready for you to buildon.
That's the hardest part, andyou've done it, so you just got
to keep going.
It's so easy to forget all ofyour achievements and how much
you have already grown as awoman and as an entrepreneur,

(11:46):
especially this far reading, when you are feeling tired and
exhausted and feeling like it'sall too much.
But now is not the time to letnegativity take over.
Now is the time to leveragewhat you've created.
And guess what?
That is a decision.
Anytime you are consideringmaking a big move, taking a big

(12:09):
risk or even giving up, you aremaking a decision, and being
decisive is one of the mostimportant traits of being a
successful business owner, whichis one area where most women
let themselves down, and it'sgenerally due to a lack of
confidence in having lowself-esteem and listening to

(12:29):
other people say to you whydon't you just get a job?
It would be so much easier.
And this is where it's reallysuper important to recognize
your internal narrative.
What are you telling yourselfand what do you actually want?
One of the first steps that Ithink is really super important

(12:50):
when you're looking at the bigpicture in front of you is
uncovering your internalnarrative.
Hear what you're saying toyourself.
What are your thoughts?
What is all the negativedialogue you are having with
yourself Now?
Negative thoughts happen to usall, especially when we're
feeling overwhelmed or scared atall.

(13:10):
We're caught up in the emotions.
But this is where it's reallyhelpful to take the emotions and
the fears out, look at thesituation through logical,
rational eyes, and I like tocreate thought buckets.
So you create a mental bucketjust for the emotions and the

(13:31):
fears, thoughts like what ifthis doesn't work out?
What if I'm no good?
What if I run out of money?
Then what's going to happen?
There's no way I can face myfamily.
I can't do this because allthose negative thoughts put them
into your mental thought bucketof emotions and fears, and then
create a mental bucket just forother people's opinions, things

(13:51):
people have said to you, thingslike just get a day job, just
stop.
I don't even know why you'redoing this to yourself.
It's so much easier just goingto work and switching off when
you come home.
Yeah, I hate my job, but it'sso much less hassle.
You should do the same.
Make a bucket for those people'sopinions and finally create a

(14:12):
mental bucket of facts whatyou've done, what you haven't
done, your goals, the actionsyou've taken to achieve your
goals, your business processes, everything you set up, your
services and pricing, yourmarketing activities, your sales
process, all of the specific, tangible things that you have

(14:32):
done and created in yourbusiness and all of the things
you know you should do but havenot done.
They need to go in your mentalbucket of facts.
And then this is the next step, and it's powerful.
What you do is you take thosefirst two buckets Remember the
first two buckets they were onefor emotions and one for other

(14:57):
people's opinions and you gettwo lids and you put a lid
firmly on each of those twobuckets.
Leave the lid off your bucketof facts, dive into it, roll
around in it, get covered in thefacts, feel them, see them,
remember them, understand them.
And when you do that, you'llvery quickly recognise that all
those fears and emotions, youhave already dealt with them.

(15:21):
Before you started your business, you already decided to start
your business and quit your nineto five.
You've already run through theworst case scenarios.
When making the decision tostart, you already analysed
everything, you did, your prosand cons, and it's the fear that
is pulling you back into thatspace.

(15:41):
You're being controlled by yourfear right now.
So bring yourself back to thepresent moment and instead
consider all the potential gainsin your business if you do
things differently, if you dareto take smart risks and use
strategies to move past yourfear and make big moves.

(16:02):
Because if you quit now, youwill never have the opportunity
of having a six or seven biggerbusiness or making the change
you want to see in the world, and you're denying yourself the
creatives and financial freedomand time freedom and happiness
that all of that could bring you.
And think back to when youstarted.

(16:23):
Remember how new, scary anduncomfortable it all was, but
eventually it all becamecomfortable and familiar.
The fear left.
It became the new normal.
And taking risks now will bethe same for you.
They'll be new, they'll bescary and they'll be
uncomfortable, but you will growwith them, with the challenge.

(16:45):
You'll grow with the challengeto the point where you sit with
them like an old friend, feelingsecure, safe and familiar, and
then you'll start again takingon new risks.
And it's important to viewrisks in this way, because every
single risk has the potentialto enrich your life and become a
new way of being so.

(17:06):
Instead of thinking that beinguncomfortable equals danger,
change your thinking.
Sit with the awkwardness untilyou get comfortable at a new
level and allow yourself to growmore Disassociate from the fear
, disassociate from the emotionand disassociate from the
opinions of others and dive intoyour bucket of facts.

(17:30):
Successful business women makedecisions and constantly take
risks.
They don't stop to consider thepossibility of those first two
buckets because they don'tmatter.
Whatever they do to move theirbusiness forward will always be
a step further ahead than ifthey didn't take the risk.
And the most dangerous placefor you to be as an entrepreneur

(17:54):
is to be indecisive.
You have the choice to say yesor no, but the time when you're
stuck in indecision is the mostdangerous place for you to be,
and that is where you areguaranteed to not move forward
and to not progress.
And that looks like things likesaying maybe, or what do you
think?

(18:14):
Or I might one day, or maybenext time, or I'm considering my
options.
Now.
I'm not saying don't askyourself those questions.
What I'm saying is don't staystuck there, because the longer
you are indecisive, the moreconfused your thoughts become
and the more paralyzed youbecome and you might think

(18:35):
you've made a decision, but youhaven't.
You're still stuck becauseyou're doing nothing and you're
not taking any action to growyour business or do what's
needed to get the results thatyou crave.
So you've got to commit tomaking decisions.
You can always change your mindlater.
Nothing is set in stone.
But don't waste your energybeing indecisive.

(18:56):
Your energy is really valuable,so use it wisely.
We put so much pressure onourselves, trying to make
everything perfect and to pleaseeveryone around us, but instead
don't do that.
Be decisive, make decisionsbased on facts and just move
forwards, and all that means isassess the situation, weigh the

(19:21):
potential risks and benefitsbased on the facts, not emotion
or fear or other people'sopinions and take action that's
aligned with your big picturedreams.
That's aligned with your why.
Go back to why you started, andto do this you're going to need
to pull back into yourself, reacquaint yourself with you,

(19:42):
with your vision, and put onyour CEO hat and just get to
work Again.
Remember your why, get tough onyourself, hold yourself
accountable.
What are all the things youknow that you should do, but you
don't because you can't bebothered or it seems too hard or
you feel uncultable.
Make a list and determine wheredo all these things fit into

(20:06):
the scheme of building andmarketing and growing your
business?
Put them into action and limityour options.
Stop running around in circles, stop googling and asking people
for their opinion.
If you need help, get it fromthe right source.
Talk to a business mentor.
Talk to strategist on the topicthat you're struggling with.

(20:27):
Talk to your website designeror content strategist Whoever,
it is where the problem it lies.
Get the right advice frompeople who do that, who
specialize in that area, anddoing that will remove your
stress and limit your indecision.
Asking for the right help andgetting the right answers will
give you a specialized approachto allow you to move forwards,

(20:51):
but that will only get you sofar.
Once you've got that informationand all the advice you need,
guess what?
Nothing is going to changeunless you make it change.
So you've got to take action.
Even if it scares, you Just doit.
Like I've always quoted in theNike slogan just do it.

(21:14):
Create firm deadlines, makesolid lines in the stands that
are not negotiable, and moveheaven and earth to achieve them
.
Trust your gut, trust yourintuition, trust your heart.
These are not your fears andthese are not the voice in your
head telling you no or the voicedemanding that you be safe and
comfortable.

(21:35):
Be bold, be brave andfearlessly committed.
Embrace the possibilities offailure, because you will fail,
but you're going to be so muchbetter because of it.
And the last hurdle that youwill need to jump is redefining
what safety looks like for you, because if you're going to

(21:55):
remain an entrepreneur, youcannot derive your safety from
having a stable salary andhaving certainty, because there
is none when you're running abusiness.
You've just got to getcomfortable with being
uncomfortable.
You just have to do it, andthat's a choice you need to make
right now, because the natureof entrepreneurship is living in

(22:19):
uncertainty, and that's part ofthe fun.
Every day is different, everyclient is different, every
challenge is different, andisn't that what you wanted when
you started?
You didn't want to go to thenine to five doing the same
thing over and over, answeringto the boss, being told what you
can do, when you can do it andhow to do it.

(22:40):
Remember why you started andfall back in love with your
business.
Celebrate how very far you havealready come, the risks you've
already taken.
Don't waste them.
Remember all the decisions youhave already bravely made and
then just keep it simple, don'tovercomplicate things, don't

(23:03):
make situations too complex, andregularly reflect, recalibrate
and just keep going.
Be committed to the outcome andact like your success is
inevitable.
Change yourself, talk to beingpositive and know there is no
other option but for you tosucceed.

(23:24):
And if you embrace thesethoughts, this thought process,
and start to genuinely believethem, it will make taking the
actions you need to take anddoing all the hard things so
much easier.
So stop handing over your powerto fear, to doubt and to other
people and to the need forcertainty.

(23:45):
Take back your power.
Operate on the belief systemthat your success is inevitable,
and I guarantee you that if,from right now or from tomorrow,
you start doing these thingsand you switch up your attitude,
your business will start movingin the right direction more

(24:06):
smoothly and more quickly thanyou can imagine.
It's all up to you, and thebest part is, if you do this,
your future is in your hands andnot anybody else's.
Now that's exciting.
So be brave, make bold movesand daring decisions and take
those big risks to get theresults that you crave.

(24:29):
So that's the end of my Tuple oflecture.
I hope that it's connected withyou.
I hope it's allowed you toreconnect with why you started,
why you're here, all the amazingthings you've already done and
the ability you have to keepgoing and where it can possibly
take you, the results arelimitless.

(24:51):
There's no limits to what youcan achieve.
You just need to believe that, you need to trust yourself and
just make it happen.
So lecture over Until next time.
Be brilliant, stay beautiful, because now really is the time
for the brilliant business andbeautiful life you adore, and I
