Are you ready for the businessand life of your dreams?
(01:05):
Let's get started.
Why are we talking about valuesand beliefs in business?
Because at the heart of everysuccessful, fulfilling and
joyful business lies afoundation that is built on
personal values and beliefs, andit's this foundation that
(01:25):
enables you to create a businessthat not only flourishes but
resonates deeply with you, providing sustained joy and
success to you and your clients.
So let's explore how yourpersonal values can shape your
business, impact your clientsand bring more joy into your
work each day.
(01:45):
Now, first off, a very warmwelcome to everyone listening
today.
And whether you're a seasonedentrepreneur or you're just
starting out, this episode isdesigned to guide you towards
building a business that's notjust successful on paper, but is
also fulfilling at a muchdeeper and more personal level.
(02:06):
And why do your beliefs matterso much when it comes to your
business?
Well, when your businessreflects your personal values,
every decision you make becomesmore meaningful.
It's like having a compassguiding you through
entrepreneurship, keeping you toyour true north, and this
(02:29):
alignment not only strengthensyour brand's authenticity, but
it also builds deeper trust withyour clients, because, remember
, people don't just buy what youdo, they buy why you do it.
Identifying your core valuesreally begins with some deep
self reflection.
(02:50):
Consider those standout momentsin business when you felt
incredibly fulfilled by yourwork, all those times when the
decisions you made justresonated so deeply with you and
felt really good to make.
Those times are like littlebreadcrumbs leading you to
(03:12):
discover your fundamentalbeliefs and principles.
Not the moments where you'refighting yourself.
When you're fighting yourself, that's when you're not aligned.
It's those moments that happeneasily and feel beautiful.
That are your fundamentalbeliefs and principles.
So dive into those moments, write them down and have a
(03:36):
really good think about them, and you might start noticing
certain values popping up foryou repeatedly, and it could be
anything from unwaveringintegrity, a drive for
innovation, a heart for beingcompassionate or a commitment to
sustainability.
Figuring out what you stand forisn't always straightforward, so
(03:58):
I really encourage you to takesome time after today's episode
to sit with this and discoverwhat yours are.
Now.
It's not an idle reflection.
It's really about going deepand uncovering the foundation of
your personal and professionalethos.
The values that you unearthwill serve as the cornerstone
(04:21):
for being able to build abusiness that's not only
successful but is a truerepresentation of your deepest
self, morally and ethically.
So you can truly align yourbusiness not just with the
trends in the market, but withthe essence of who you are.
And after you've pinpointed whatreally matters to you at the
(04:44):
heart of your business, it'stime for another little
reflection.
It's time to take a really good, hard look at your business.
Have a look at your businessoperations and how they stack up
against your core values.
Think about your products orservices that you offer, the way
you talk about your business, the way you interact with
(05:06):
clients, the little extras thatyou do or don't do, and ask
yourself do they mirror thevalues that you hold dear?
Sometimes you'll spot somemismatches, some little gaps,
and that's okay, becauserecognizing all of these gaps is
(05:27):
a really important, positivestep and it shows that you're
ready to start bridging them andlets you know where you need to
start bridging those gaps.
Now remember aligning yourbusiness with your values isn't
something you're going toachieve overnight.
It's a journey because you needto dive into them and work them
(05:49):
all out and really dissect yourbusiness practices.
But by acknowledging areaswhere your business practices
aren't in full alignment withyour values, you're setting the
stage to create meaningfulchange.
And this awareness is yourspringboard towards realigning
your business to ensure thatevery aspect of it truly
(06:11):
reflects the principles that youbelieve in.
Building or realigning yourbusiness around your values is
not just fulfilling, it'sincredibly empowering and it's a
way to infuse your work withmeaning and direction and joy.
If you're working towards inalignment with your values,
(06:34):
you're creating an opportunityfor joy in everything you do,
and that just shines throughyour conversations, through how
you show up online and how youinteract with your clients and
it's quite magnetic.
So start by taking small, intentional steps, and if you're
not sure, I'll give you someexamples.
(06:55):
Five examples of ways you canintegrate your values into every
facet of your business.
One of the ways we've alreadytouched on briefly, and that is
assessing your current businesspractices.
Take a really close look at howyour business operates, from
your suppliers if you're aproduct-based business to your
(07:16):
customer service everything.
Are there areas where you couldmake changes that better align
with your values?
For instance, if sustainabilityis important to you, examining
where your suppliers are based, what their processes are and the
materials that they use, andadopting eco-friendliness could
(07:40):
be a good start.
Going into the eco-friendlyinitiatives if being
environmentally conscious is oneof your core values, start with
something tangible likeswitching across to eco-friendly
packaging, because this notonly reduces your carbon
footprint, it also appeals tolike-minded customers.
(08:01):
So that's bringing joy intoyour business in the way that
you operate, because it's deeplyaligned to your eco-friendly,
environmentally conscious values.
Engage with your community If asense of community is what
drives you, why not explore waysyour business can contribute to
(08:22):
community?
That could be locally, withinyour local area, or it could be
more broad online so you couldsponsor events, you could do
some volunteering, you couldcreate your own online community
of like-minded people or joinan online community and
(08:44):
contribute.
That way, showing you careabout something, about your
surroundings, about yourneighbourhood, or your online
community, can help you build areally strong network of
like-minded people and bring joyto you every day because you're
feeling like you're giving backand you're contributing to the
(09:04):
world.
And others see you doing thatand they will really respond
well to that and relate to youon a much more deeper level.
Another way is revamping yourmission statement.
Your mission statement is yourbusiness's North Star and if it
doesn't currently reflect yourcore values, it's time for an
(09:24):
update.
A mission statement thatembodies your beliefs can guide
your decision making andcommunicate your purpose to your
customers and to your employeesand anyone who stumbles across
you.
You can also communicate yourvalues through your marketing
Content.
Marketing, as we all know, is ahugely powerful tool for
(09:47):
sharing what you stand for, soincorporate your values into
your brand messaging, fromeverything from your social
media posts to your blogs, yourpodcast, your advertising
campaigns, wherever you areactive online, to create content
that resonates with yourcustomers and those who share
(10:08):
your values and all of theseactions weave your values into
the fabric of your brand, makingit stand out for all of the
right reasons.
And remember, the goal is notto overhaul everything overnight
that would be impossible butit's more about making
consistent, meaningful changesthat reflect what's most
(10:31):
important to you.
Now I want to share a couple ofstories of women entrepreneurs
who have very successfullyaligned their businesses with
their values.
Now the first two.
I'm not sure if I'm going topronounce their names correctly.
The first is Chitra Gnani Daga.
She is the co-founder and CEOof Thriller Filia.
(10:53):
Thriller Filia is India'slargest travel booking platform,
and Chitra started the companywith the mission to transform
the way people explore andexperience the world, and the
driving values which is centralto her business is making
adventurous experiencesaccessible to all.
(11:15):
So you can see where thataligns with her core values.
The next one I'm not sure ifI'm going to pronounce correctly
is Tony Desrosier.
She's the founder of Abago, acompany that makes beeswax food
covers as part of a movementtowards zero waste and
(11:36):
sustainable living.
Her philosophy is all aboutrethinking our relationship with
food, keeping our food livingand making environmentally
conscious choices, and that hasresonated so well with consumers
who are looking for sustainableproducts.
So you can see how that is veryclosely married to her core
(11:58):
values.
And the last one I want to talkabout is one of my favourites
Oprah Winfrey.
Oprah is a strong advocate forvalues-based entrepreneurship,
where businesses are driven by ahigher mission and a greater
cause beyond just making aprofit.
And her values include thingslike authenticity, empathy,
(12:21):
resilience, personal growth, giving back, mindfulness and, of
course, purpose-drivenentrepreneurship.
And her business and personalbrands are so deeply intertwined
with her values that the meremention of her name creates a
vivid mental picture of hervalues.
It's that powerful.
(12:43):
It's seamlessly woven into thecore fabric of her business.
So when you think of Oprah, youdon't just think of her empire,
which is huge.
You picture all of the goodvibes and the positive changes
she's making in the world andall the positive changes she's
pushing for.
It's as if her name itself isshort-haired for authenticity,
(13:08):
empathy, resilience and all ofthe good she stands for in the
world.
So Oprah is the perfect exampleof how values can be indelibly
linked to your business.
Now, integrating your valuesinto your business isn't a
one-time task.
It is an ongoing journey.
But the beauty of this journeyof running a value-aligned
(13:30):
business is not just in arrivingat the destination, but in the
fulfillment and integrity itbrings to your entrepreneurial
life, one that leads to not justfinancial success but personal
fulfilment and a positive impacton the world.
It's about making a difference,one decision at a time, in a
(13:52):
way that's very true to you.
Now I want to leave you with asmall challenge this week.
Identify one way you can bringyour business closer to your
core values just one, and I'dlove to hear about it.
