  And tonight we have one of the best creators here in Charleston, South Carolina.

  And let me tell you, this brother is is very multi-talented.
  He's an artist here in Charleston, producer, multi-instrumentalist, content creator.
  He's a fellow College of Charleston alumnus. I'm a College of Charleston alumni myself as well.
  
  (01:14):
  He's the co-host of Just Music Podcast.
  That's J-U-S Music Podcast podcast with his co-host Marco Encampo,
  or he goes by DJ Millie Marco.
  Am I right? Yes, sir. That's correct.
  So ladies and gentlemen, let's welcome to the show, Mr. Jalen Williams.
  
  (01:37):
  Jalen, how are you doing tonight? I'm doing great, man. Thank you so much for
  that introduction and thank you for this opportunity, man.
  So you went to college in Charleston. What year did you graduate?
  You wait i mean 2000 2012 okay
  not too long before i i came i graduated
  so i i was a freshman in 2017 and graduated in 2021 so wow that's crazy man
  
  (02:01):
  but thank you so much for having me on i'm really excited for this oh yeah man
  this it's uh it's it's an honor to have not only a podcast a fellow a fellow podcaster,
  but someone with a lot of talent.
  And we're going to talk about that tonight on the show. So-
  
  (02:22):
  Let's just go through an introduction just to tell everybody about yourself,
  where you're from, and just something about your podcast.
  Yeah, man. So I'm from Florence, South Carolina.
  If you know where that is, it's like two hours from Charleston and an hour from
  Columbia, South Carolina.
  And I was born and raised there. Majority of my family is there,
  
  (02:45):
  along with Darlington, South Carolina. I have a lot of family over there as well. though.
  And like I said, I came to Charleston in 2017.
  I was 18 years old and I enrolled as a freshman at the College of Charleston
  and then graduated in the spring of 2021.
  And then as far as the podcast, man, so my co-host, who's also one of my good
  
  (03:10):
  friends, closest friend, Marco, it was in 2020 that we started the podcast.
  So this was like COVID time. Oh, yeah. He called me and he was like,
  yo, man, why don't we start a podcast?
  And I was like, okay. I was like, how do we even do that? How do we start a podcast?
  And it's funny because Marco and I met the first day of college orientation,
  
  (03:35):
  the very first day. He was one of the first people that I met.
  And we bonded over music. I told him that I'm a musician and he told me that he's a DJ. DJ.
  And then from there, our friendship had just been built off of that love, that passion for music.
  And so when he came to me asking, could we do a podcast?
  He was like, yeah, we should do a podcast because you and I,
  
  (03:57):
  we always have conversations about music and we're always having debates on
  who's the best rapper or talking about the most recent album that just released.
  Right. I was like, okay, you know, we could put it together.
  So then September of 2020, we launched the podcast, Just Music.
  And then in October of that year, we released our first episode.
  
  (04:20):
  And then fast forward to now, 2024, we have about 110 episodes out now,
  almost 5,000 downloads. And we've put on a number.
  I gotta give you applause for that. I give you your applause. Thank you.
  And we put on a number of live events, live music events from R&B to hip-hop to EDM and house music.
  
  (04:49):
  And it's something that we're very proud of.
  And if you told us back in 2019 or 2020 that this was going to happen...
  Us i can't say i would have believed you because
  i had no interest of doing a podcast until he
  brought it to my attention yeah it's it's
  
  (05:09):
  it's kind of funny how things kind of turned out
  with you and marco have similar you know
  just a similar passion for for music it's
  sometimes it happens that way you
  know in a in a place and you
  guys you know come together y'all bond y'all doing a
  whole lot of things i've i've seen your instagram and
  
  (05:30):
  youtube and everything and you guys
  are just putting on shows and you
  guys have a lot of you guys have a lot of talent yourselves and you bring in
  a lot of other artists at like different events i i think you guys did an event
  at the bodega of charleston am i right yes sir that is correct so it was so
  
  (05:53):
  march you know as as this episode was being recorded,
  we did a boiler room at Bodega.
  And the cool part about the boiler rooms is I remember it was January of 20, yeah, last year, 2023.
  And Marco and I, we had dinner and we sat down and we talked about the ideas
  
  (06:14):
  that we had for the podcast this year, as far as events.
  And he was like, yo, we should do a boiler room. And I was like,
  what is a boiler room and i'm not a dj so i
  like right what that is and um he would he
  explained to me what a boiler room is and it's basically you
  know back in the day like 80s and
  90s and really you know when hoff's music was
  
  (06:35):
  really starting to become popular there
  were clubs and there were venues where you
  know they would have the dj be
  placed in the middle of the floor as
  opposed to like you know you go to a club now or
  a venue now the dj is going to be kind of like at the back of the
  
  (06:56):
  club or they're going to be like somewhere in the corner but now
  they were in like the middle of the venue and they would and basically they're
  kind of like the center of attention and then it's like creating this immersive
  experience allowing you know everybody who's in the space to like crowd around
  dj just really have a great time and enjoy the music Oh, wow.
  
  (07:17):
  That sounds like a lot of fun to have that.
  Because like you said, usually DJs are in the back or in the corner or whatever.
  In some case, they're on the stage, but this is like in the middle of the place
  and just everybody, man, okay, yeah, that's awesome.
  
  (07:37):
  Yeah. And it's funny how we started doing that event at Bodega because.
  I remember Marco saying like, yeah, like we just got to reach out to some people,
  see what venues would be willing to let us put on this event.
  And I remember Marco reaching out to a very talented, popular DJ in Charleston
  
  (07:58):
  called Jerry Feelsgood.
  He was like, hey, Jerry, like we are looking to have a boy room.
  He was like, oh, word. Let me reach out to Murph from Bodega and shout out to Murph.
  And this was like the summertime so this was maybe
  like may that that conversation
  happened and then he he texts murph and he
  was like hey man marco or millie marco
  
  (08:21):
  he wants to put together a boiler room event for his
  podcast and murph was like okay word let's do it and just
  like just like that and then not too long after
  we had some meetings to go over how we're going to pull this
  off and in july of last year we
  had a boiler room we like packed out bodega i'm
  talking about we we had like t-shirts that we put together
  
  (08:42):
  and we had a really dope lineup
  of djs and then after that boiler
  room we continued to do the boilers because
  bodega was like okay we want y'all to continue to do this event yeah
  we did one in august we did one
  in october december january february and
  now march so you know it's it's really
  
  (09:04):
  crazy how you know just having the
  guts in the will to just try something you
  know i'm saying not being afraid to put yourself out there it's crazy how how
  that how that goes that is that is amazing i gotta give you guys your applause
  for that one right there man doing to do something that to do something different
  
  (09:25):
  to have a board to, you know, make those connections.
  Have that event and everything.
  You said it was sold out. People, people came and had a great time and everything. Yeah.
  Yeah, man. And it was crazy. Cause like, again, like three, four years ago,
  I wouldn't think that we would be putting on a, on a, this type of event. And like.
  
  (09:49):
  And, you know, people received it very, very well. And the thing is,
  like, we always tell people the idea of a boiler room is nothing new because
  they've been around for many, many years.
  Right. And then, like, you can, I think there's literally a boiler room that's
  literally titled Boiler Room.
  And also, you know, in the 2010s, you know, when, like, EDM music and different
  
  (10:13):
  styles of EDM was, like, really becoming popular.
  Of course, boiler rooms were popular then, too. But as far as Charleston,
  you didn't really have many boiler rooms.
  I mean, Trio does boiler room events. And then Just Music, we started doing
  boiler rooms with Bodega.
  And now I've even seen other venues and event organizers put on boiler rooms.
  
  (10:37):
  So it's really cool to see how, you know, just not being afraid to test out your idea,
  not being afraid to, you know, have a goal or have a dream and say,
  yo, let's let's just let's just see where it takes us, you know? Right. Yeah. Yeah.
  And that's and that's great to have something here like something like that
  
  (10:59):
  here in Charleston. And I just want to get into, you know, your podcast and
  everything. Just Music podcast.
  Yeah. So I so I believe this is season 10. Right. Going into season 10.
  Yes. Yeah. Sorry. We've done so many episodes now.
  I'm not even going to lie. Sometimes I can't even keep up. But yes,
  I think. Yes, this is season 10.
  
  (11:21):
  The Just Music podcast. Yes. And we recently released episode 110 with DJ Slow Country.
  Yeah, that's correct. Yeah, because I watched some episodes where you had Slow
  Country and you had Zandria Dunning. Am I saying that right?
  Zandrina Dunning, yes. Yeah, from home radio.
  Yeah. And you have some other artists on there, some other content creators.
  
  (11:44):
  And, you know, I checked it out in this. It's awesome to see you guys see other
  you guys as podcasters, just content creators doing your thing. Right.
  Especially right here in Charleston, where we got so much talent here in this
  area. And just to have that, you know, create your own platform like you guys
  
  (12:04):
  did with the Boiler Room and everything.
  So let's let's talk about this.
  So on your podcast, you have, you know, conversations with the local artists
  and DJs, talents, entertainers.
  So what made you guys, you know, you talked about this before.
  Like, what made you guys create a platform just for just for music?
  
  (12:30):
  Yeah. So, you know, in 2020, when we launched the podcast at first,
  Marco and I, we were just, you know, just talking about.
  You know, we were just talking about different things in music as far as like
  reviewing like different albums and, you know, having different debates and
  giving our opinions on music and, you know, different artists in the industry and things like that.
  
  (12:55):
  And then 2021, we were like, OK, we really want to grow and expand the podcast.
  And, you know, the the best way I mean, one of the best ways for sure to to
  grow and expand your brand is to collaborate with other people.
  And that's when we was like, yo, we need to start doing interviews with people.
  And then, you know, we had artists like Zendrina Dunning, like you said,
  
  (13:18):
  and DJ Slow Country and Emily Curtis, King Cutler, K-Rich, Macy Crawford even had.
  We even had he's not an artist, but he's very popular in Charleston when it
  comes to, you know, blog and promoting different events, particularly especially with music.
  Uh christian from holy city center and also oh yeah henry funny from what's
  
  (13:41):
  going on charleston so like the the inspiration behind that was just you know
  just really understanding that yo we really want to expand and grow as a podcast
  and we also want to give other artists other creatives.
  In the music scene here up on a
  platform an opportunity to you know share their story
  
  (14:02):
  express more of themselves their passion um so
  yeah very much building a community through that yeah
  and this and it's amazing that you know
  you can create your own platform to not
  only showcase yourselves but also
  have other other people come on to showcase their talents and skills something
  
  (14:25):
  that is now growing within you know music in in other creative spaces and i'm
  And I just think that's just amazing to, you know, as a fellow podcaster,
  you know, we we decided to grow ourselves to have, you know,
  special guests from here in the area because we have we have a lot of talented
  
  (14:45):
  people in Charleston, just in the low country,
  South Carolina in general.
  And sometimes we have like that, that talent and it's just hidden because a
  lot of people don't know you have the talent unless you,
  you know, you showcase it kind of having shows or, you know,
  like podcasts like this right here where you can bring people in.
  
  (15:07):
  I really think that's, that's amazing what you and Marco is doing.
  You know, that's, that's really, really, uh, really amazing. Yeah.
  And speaking of speaking of of a lot of talent here, because you guys do a lot
  of you know, you do a lot of collaborations and showcases with with other talent to do performances.
  And now you you did the bodega. Did you guys do other events here in Charleston?
  
  (15:31):
  Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, we did.
  So our very first live music event was in 2021. We put together like a,
  we called it like a Just Music Tiny Desk. It was supposed to be similar to NPR Tiny Desk. Right. Okay.
  Yeah. We had like a lineup of singers, rappers, and some of them did pop,
  
  (15:54):
  some of them did R&B, some did hip hop and rap.
  And we all got together. It was kind of like a house show.
  And we had some friends of ours and we used their house. Shout out to Katie
  and shout out to Neil and that whole friend group.
  And they let us use the house and we put together basically a house show.
  
  (16:15):
  And we had maybe 25 people show up in person and we had 25 people watch on YouTube.
  And the event was free. So we didn't charge anybody for this.
  And that was really cool. So that was like our first try or hit at putting on live music events.
  And then last year in April, which will be coming up on the one year anniversary
  
  (16:40):
  of, we put together, we collaborated again with our friends,
  Katie and that whole friend group and Rochella.
  And they have their own DJ collective called Rave Salon and very talented DJs in that group.
  And what we did was we was like hey like let's
  
  (17:01):
  put together like another house show and like let's call it like
  the just music fest so kind of like a festival theme
  but it was like it was scaled down
  to a house show not like a big outside festival right
  we made the lineup even
  more diverse so we had djs and we had singers and rappers and marco performed
  
  (17:24):
  i also performed And we also had like independent merchandise vendors or clothing vendors,
  whichever one we had them kind
  of like, you know, sell their own merch there at the at the event, too.
  And we we pretty much filled up that space.
  
  (17:44):
  We had like maybe 50 people in there, probably even more. And we we sold like tickets for that, too.
  And we sold out the tickets like it was really cool. It was really fun.
  That was a great one. that's gotta be...
  The the best that's gotta be that's gotta
  be fun to to do that and in just
  
  (18:05):
  like you it's just like the charleston version of
  like the npr tiny desk that you mentioned and you have all these you're bringing
  in all these artists you have like a little you know you have your setting and
  everything and man that is man that is amazing right yeah it was very fun and
  very fun and then And of course,
  
  (18:25):
  we did the Boiler Rooms and we even did a three year anniversary party last
  year for the podcast. And that was really fun, too.
  And we did that in collaboration with friends.

  We did that with our our friends over at Young Fly Lords Creative Studio,
  
  (18:48):
  Akil. Akil, Akil Dunn, he is the leader of that group and they're doing some great stuff too.
  And then of course, fast forward to 2024, we've done more Boiler Rooms.
  And also in February and the month of March too,
  we did a collaboration Boiler Room with very talented DJ Tony Jack and an event
  
  (19:12):
  organization company that he works with,
  with the illicit events and we did some boiler rooms with
  them over at ink charleston and a very very
  special event that marco and i did it was
  a hip-hop event very first hip-hop theme event that we did last month in february
  at the recovery room downtown called mic drop we had like a lineup of rappers
  
  (19:35):
  hip-hop artists and we had they freestyled they all performed like their own original music music.
  And we did that on a Sunday evening.
  And we had that place like rocking. It was very fun. Oh, that's one of my favorite.
  Come on, Jalen. Y'all are doing it, man. I mean.
  
  (19:58):
  I mean, you guys are really, really doing it.
  It's like you guys are artists and promoters and event organizers.
  Man, I'm very impressed by what you guys are doing.
  And just for everybody to know, I met Jalen at the Charleston Black Expo about three weeks ago.
  
  (20:18):
  And we had our podcast set up. We had a podcast booth out there.
  Jalen stopped by and everything and introduced.
  Introduce we introduce ourselves and and talked a
  little bit and jalen was interested on coming on
  the podcast so i'm like okay gotta get gotta get
  him on yeah gotta gotta get him gotta get
  
  (20:38):
  him on and and have him on the podcast show and speaking of podcasts i've read
  that you guys were listed as nominees for best in charleston from the charleston
  city paper yes that is correct that That was last year. Yeah. Last year. Yeah.
  Last year. That was really cool, too, because, you know, when I saw that Best
  
  (21:04):
  of Charleston, you know, the nominations were live in 2023.
  I was like, bro, it would be really, really cool, like, you know,
  if we even just get nominated.
  Not even, you know, of course win, but just to be nominated would be really
  cool. And so, you know, we told people that, hey, like, you know,
  we're on the ballot to be nominated.
  
  (21:24):
  And then it was later in, yeah, in 2023 that we found out, yo,
  like, we're in the running.
  And we didn't win, but we made it to the final round of the voting.
  And, you know, to be in discussion and conversation with some of the great podcasts
  
  (21:45):
  that were on that ballot, like Apple Juice for Two podcast.
  I think Rise to Elevate Podcast as well was on there and a few others.
  It was just really, really cool.
  Yeah, that is amazing for you guys to be recognized by the Charleston City Paper.
  I mean, it's kind of like it's a no-brainer because all you guys are not only
  
  (22:08):
  podcasters, you guys are putting events, you guys are doing music, I mean, everything.
  So you guys do, you guys did deserve that recognition.
  And you know very yeah man
  that for real for real because you you know you guys
  are doing a lot that we haven't seen and i lived in
  charleston all my life and i haven't seen anything like this you know with you
  
  (22:30):
  know you got the talent even from other cities in the in south carolina come
  down here and collaborate with people who already have the talent and you guys
  are doing doing a lot of things within music and bringing,
  bringing in a community or creating a community and bringing people in that,
  that man, that is amazing,
  
  (22:52):
  amazing work you guys are doing.
  Thank you, man. Yeah. That that's, that's what, you know, Marco and I,
  we pride ourselves on, you know, is, is we understand,
  you know, as creatives, as artists and as business owners, Because,
  you know, we we operate a business with the podcast that,
  you know, like we need to make sure that we are highlighting the value in the
  
  (23:19):
  talent that exists here in Charleston when it comes to music.
  Like because there's so much talent.
  And I'm again, I'm from Florence, South Carolina. Marco's from Boston, Massachusetts.
  Yeah. Yeah, I watched the show.
  He was talking about he's from Boston. So shout out to Marco, Milly Marco out there.
  
  (23:41):
  Yeah, man. And so when we came to College of Charleston, we understood early
  on the gold and the value and the potential that exists here.
  And we immersed ourselves in that. Me, as far as music, you know,
  getting to know a lot of musicians here, getting to know a lot of people that,
  
  (24:04):
  you know, put together live music events.
  And Marco, him being a DJ, he, you know, knows so many of the DJs here in Charleston.
  And it's like with the podcast, it's almost like.
  A melting pot of all of that, you know, bringing in so many different,
  you know, talents and mindsets and perspectives all focused around music.
  
  (24:28):
  And it's, it's, it's, it's really a beautiful thing to see.
  Yeah. And speaking of music, you play different instruments.
  Cause I seen your, I seen your Instagram where you play the guitar and you play
  the trombone. Am I right? Yeah.
  You have a band, you were singing in your your band and everything,
  you know, the cover band. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
  
  (24:49):
  What made you want to just get into music period?
  Yeah, man. So I was 12 years old and I was just beginning to start seventh grade
  at Southside middle school in Florence.
  And my mom, she signed me up for band. And I was like, mom, why,
  
  (25:11):
  why did you, why did you sign me up for band?
  I had no interest in doing band and but she was like you know you should just
  try it and you know see if you like it and i and i tried it and this is when
  i started learning how to play the trombone and i was like
  this is pretty fun and so i did it again the next year and then i was like okay
  i'm gonna do this through high school i'm gonna do marching band i'm gonna continue
  
  (25:31):
  to do concert band and you know do all the different like district and regional
  events that they have through you know grade grade school band,
  and then it was my sophomore year of high school, I was like 16 and I started
  teaching myself the bass guitar. Oh, wow. Because growing up-
  Growing up, I always had an appreciation and a love for music.
  
  (25:55):
  My mom, my dad played a lot of gospel, played a lot of R&B and just great music.
  And even in my family, I didn't realize until I became a musician that I had
  talented musicians in my family.
  My dad, he had his own band in high school.
  He sung in church. My aunt, she's a phenomenal singer.
  
  (26:16):
  She sings in church. church, my grandmother sung in church, and various other
  people in my family that were tied to music in some way.
  And so at 16, I started teaching myself the bass guitar.
  And then fast forward to college, freshman 2017 at College of Charleston,
  
  (26:36):
  and I enrolled as a music performance major.
  So I took two years worth of piano classes. That's where I started learning
  how to play keys and then also took my music theory courses and things like that.
  And so, you know, what made me just want to pursue music, you know,
  as a career was just the fact that I enjoy it so much and I enjoy it so much to the point where,
  
  (27:03):
  you know, I don't really see myself doing anything else that isn't,
  you know, related to music as far as a career. career.
  But the other thing is too, I have a big love and passion for business too,
  
  (27:23):
  being an entrepreneur. Of course.
  And music has also made me discover that. You know what I'm saying? There you go.
  Yeah. And I'm an entrepreneur in music. I'm an entrepreneur,
  of course, with podcasts.
  I'm an entrepreneur because I have my own like e-commerce site.
  
  (27:44):
  And I was like, you know, all of this happened because of music.
  Like all of it happened because of music.
  And the thing was, I wasn't afraid to try something new because at 12 years
  old, I had no interest in it.
  But then it was kind of like music chose me. You know, God was like,
  no, you're going to you're going to do music.
  
  (28:06):
  Yeah all of this because of you
  started off in band you played you know trombone
  you played the bass guitar you had family members that were musicians and everything
  sort of like my family you know mom dad my brother they all sang it sang in
  the church choir and everything and my uncle and I was in the cover bands and everything.
  
  (28:30):
  My uncle played guitar and I kind of got the love for music too.
  Did you ever have, or your family had, vinyl records and cassette players and everything?
  So I never saw any vinyl records in my family, but I saw tons, tons of CDs.
  
  (28:53):
  Like my mom she she had
  like two you know you remember the cd holder
  books or pamphlets or whatever
  they were called oh you mean the the ones that i know what you're talking about
  it looks like a looks like a book it looks like a folder and then it has the
  uh the pockets where you put the cds in yeah i still got i still got mine to
  
  (29:14):
  this day my mom had two of those my dad My dad had one and my dad,
  and I think my mom too, they both had some cassette tape.
  I remember going over to my dad's house and looking in the attic and we found
  some cassette tape. It was like a new edition.
  Cassette tape okay from like back in the
  day and you know and i'm only 24 but i'm talking like
  
  (29:36):
  you know this this old head but you know that's just the music
  that i grew up on and don't lie at
  this it's the same same way with same way with me when i grew up i grew up on
  old school music gospel music r&b soul hip-hop yeah yeah and like and i collect
  cds now and like you know like i'm looking Looking at my CD collection that I have here and,
  
  (30:01):
  you know, the music, gospel, R&B.
  And then when I got to college, I started learning, exploring more jazz,
  of course, learning more about classical and, of course, love pop music and
  just so many different styles of music, hip hop, rap.
  That, you know, as I continue to grow as a musician, my love for it became stronger
  
  (30:23):
  and my appreciation for it became stronger. To the point where it's like a lifestyle.
  It's almost like an obsession. Right. Yeah.
  It's your niche. It's your passion. It's like you found your passion and you found a business.
  Sometimes when you have a passion, you do it with everything you have, with all your heart.
  
  (30:48):
  And then somehow it just created into its own entity, its own business.
  It oh yeah something sometimes it happens it happens that way when you have a love of something,
  and you you like you said earlier you said you know i love this mute you love
  music to the point where you you don't have it you know you don't want to do
  
  (31:11):
  anything else right that's that's as though it's like your life right yeah yeah man and in like.
  And, you know, music has also, you know, helped me grow as a person,
  you know, I feel like I've also become more multifaceted and more of an all
  around person because of me.
  Because like I told you, like I became a businessman and entrepreneur off of music. Yeah.
  
  (31:34):
  Understanding how money works, understanding, you know, how to run a business,
  understanding structure, understanding, you know, how to how to create money for myself and others.
  In in arenas that may not even be music based.
  And then also you know my spirituality
  my faith walk with with god and and also
  
  (31:56):
  just me and just my own personal growth
  as a human you know what i'm saying and you
  know just my personality understanding my likes my dislikes music
  has played a role in that too and like you know i'm also somebody who just loves
  to learn you know i'm a knowledge seeker and you know i love learning about
  
  (32:17):
  different things from music to food to different cultures different people and and just,
  you know learning different things because you know that's just that because
  the way that i look at is you know you know it's important to continuously grow
  yourself and better yourself as a person and understand more of who you are
  
  (32:39):
  because that's how we connect with one another That's how we, you know.
  Of course be better and and create a better life for ourselves and then whatever
  your passions are you know it'll add to that as well you know what i'm saying
  like the different styles of music that are out there you know all of that like
  
  (33:00):
  latin and r b and gospel and jazz all of that comes from.
  You know people you know just having
  the the the curiosity and
  the will to want to understand in things that are
  just bigger than themselves right and then you hear
  it in the music so yeah man it's it's really
  beautiful yeah that's it's a it's a
  
  (33:22):
  beautiful thing to you know have that
  have that niche or have that heart for something that you all that you just
  found love to do and we you know with the with my podcast we talk about this
  all the time where just for people to to be the best at what you already do.
  
  (33:43):
  So if you're a musician and you love music and you love to create and collaborate
  with people and even start, even create a business for yourself,
  a platform for yourself, it just about being the best of yourself.
  Like you said, always learning, always trying out new things because you never
  know. It might turn out to be the best thing ever.
  
  (34:06):
  Yep. I mean, look at you, you know, look at you, what you guys are doing.
  You know, from podcasting to now you got music, you got your own,
  you know, let's say event organizing. Yeah.
  Might as well say, yeah. Cause I mean, yeah, yeah. You got your own business, everything.
  
  (34:29):
  I mean, and this is good to see artists, like especially independent artists,
  local artists, whoever, just to have their own thing where, you know,
  you have control over, your music and you can create your own.
  Platforms and shows and you can collaborate with
  other artists that's how it's i mean that's
  
  (34:51):
  how life is supposed to be just being able
  to live work with people enjoy what you
  do and somehow just become successful
  at it so absolutely definitely got to give you another applause thank you man
  yeah yeah yeah i mean you hit it on the nail man i mean you know a lot of people
  
  (35:13):
  People think that success is just a one person thing.
  Success is a collaborative thing for sure, because success happens for you when
  you create success for other people.
  And, you know, it's all about building relationships, building connections.
  
  (35:33):
  And when you help other people get what you want, you get what you want,
  you know, and that's life in general. not just success in your career,
  but just, just life, you know, life is a collaborative process, man.
  Like we all need each other in order to get through life. You know what I'm saying?
  And, and I understand that Marco understands that.
  
  (35:55):
  And that's part of the reason why we've had so much success in just three years
  like this, like later this year, it'll make four years.
  So like, we're still young, like we're still very much growing and, and you know, you know.
  Growing as a podcast, growing as a brand and, you know, just continuing to just
  work hard and keep the belief high and understand, you know,

  our goals, our dreams, our values in just, you know, where we want to take this.
  So, yeah, like you said, you guys are young, 24 years old.
  You still got a lot, a lot to look forward to, a lot, a lot to a lot to do.
  And that's it's amazing, man. And I'm, you know, just just meeting you for the
  first time and just having you on the show,

  because I it's that's how this creatives conversation is just to have,
  you know, people like yourself to come on because you guys have a story.
  Guys have a story. You guys have a passion.
  And this is what this this this segment is is about.
  Out and i just and i created this segment not too long ago

  because you know bringing bringing you on
  and learning about what you guys do with just music
  podcast and then just looking at
  your instagram i mean this is amazing i i'm looking

  we're definitely planning an event for the summer it's going to be a live music
  event and it's going to be really really special we partnered with a venue out
  here in charleston and it's going to be our first time you know have an event
  having an event more focused on.
  A genre of music that is not edm or house music it's not hip-hop or rap i can't

  tell you all the details but do you expect it to happen this summer and we're
  we're putting it together right now,
  yeah yeah that yeah i because i i want to see for myself what with all the with
  the with this creative space is doing i want to see you guys doing your own
  thing and and i'm following you on Instagram and everything,
  
  (38:31):
  you know, seeing what you guys do. Very impressed.
  You know, hopefully one day I want to come out there and you know,
  support you guys because yeah,
  because you know, Charleston, even though it's a, you know, still a little small
  city, but it's a small city with a lot of talent.
  Yeah. A lot of talent. I mean, we got, I've been living here all my life.
  
  (38:55):
  I've never seen so much so much talent.
  And then And events going on, you know, collaborating with other people,
  just like with the Black Expo.
  The Black Expo was like our first time being out in a larger audience and,
  you know, having the opportunity to meet to meet you, to meet other people.
  
  (39:16):
  It meant a whole lot, you know, just to be out there with everybody else.
  And, you know, I'm just just very impressed, Jalen, about, you know, what you guys are doing.
  Please, you know, continue to do what you do, because you got up.
  You got sometimes we we don't know our gifts until we just go out there and we just start creating.

  Absolutely, man. Yeah. Yeah. So, man, I got to I just keep giving you applause, man.

  has a poetry book out called colors can overcome
  levels of real stages talks about three
  just three different stages of his life all all
  in different colors and i just decided to just say chris you know we should

  go to we should be at the black expo where you have your table for your poetry
  and then i have the table for the podcast and then we just kind of like blend
  it in somehow together yeah and i and i think that's so cool because you know like.
  It's it's like two opposing ideas
  in a way but they come together and they mesh they

  mesh well and you know that it's just like people
  man like everybody's different everybody has
  their own niche their own personality their own
  thought process but it's just
  finding certain things that you and another
  person may bond over it is that's how their relationships start
  like me and marco we're two totally different people i'm from

  i'm from the south he's from the north and and you
  know we we come from different families and but
  we bonded over the one thing that is
  music and you know through that our friendship
  our partnership has has blossomed out
  of that you know i i and you know i
  honestly couldn't see myself doing the podcast with

  anybody else because you know we just we are chemistry we just get
  along so well yeah yeah yeah like brothers like yeah of course yeah have that
  that that yeah that that uh that that chemistry like like brothers and that's
  and that's cool that's cool to have somebody you know even if y'all opposite
  But you guys come together for one,

  for one thing that you both love and that's, and then that's cool.
  That's, that's humanity right there where everybody can come together for one, for one cause.
  I mean, no matter where you're from, but if you have that one cause that you're
  passionate about and that I'm passionate about coming together and do something,
