Brothers in Tech

Brothers in Tech

Do you find yourself serving as the go-to "I.T." person in your family? Or are you someone that tends to call other family members for technical support and would rather learn things on your own? Brothers in Tech is a weekly podcast focusing on home technology and provides help to the “default family IT person”. Hosted by Alan & Brian Jackson, a new topic will be discussed each month (main episode) followed by 3 weekly “deep dive” episodes (the B-sides) with additional information. Whether you are the person who everyone calls for tech support, are the person who is doing the calling, or simply interested in technology…this podcast is for you!

In this BiTs episode, we have a little bit of everything…hardware, accessory, & software…free, pricey, and even a techie way of giving to charity. And, as you watch/listen to the first part of the episode…don’t panic, Alan didn’t have to do the whole episode on his own. I mean, Brother in Tech doesn’t really have the same ring to it…

Although we appreciate and have had plenty of experience with other platforms, when it comes to buying a computer for ourselves…we are buying a Mac. Although we love diving into a tech topic each week…let’s be honest, we really love our BiTs episode!  In the first live airing of Brothers in Tech, the Brothers try and impress each other by bringing a couple of tech suggestions, and see how much money they can make each other spend. Not to give it away…but Brian’s pics really heat things up, while Alan makes sure we stay organized.

In this episode of Brothers in Tech, the Brothers compare their “essential computer apps”…aka, the apps we use on a daily basis and can’t (or prefer not to) live without. FYI, the Brothers’ apps are so similar, you would think they were related… We also play the “desert island game”, and discuss who could live...

Oh yeah…it’s that time again. The BiTS episode! Time for the Brothers to try and impress each other with a recommended technology (e.g., app, device, service), and see who might have to break out their wallet. However, unlike most other BiTS episodes, Alan is the one who actually brings the expensive item to the table…and even Brian admits that it is pretty cool.
