Right.
SPEAKER_01 (01:19):
I hope not.
I just told my kids, hey, don'ttake any team lightly, man.
You never know.
Uh, don't go in therecomplacent, and then you get the
brakes beat off of you.
You know what I mean?
So, but anyway, uh, as usual, wejump into local scores.
And last week, look, I just hadit up, it disappeared.
SPEAKER_02 (01:39):
The regular season
ended this past week, and now
it's on to the playoffs.
So we got things we'll get intothe the scores and updates right
now with my brother Tony.
And then we have a special guestthat uh is coming to us um
speaking about um snap benefitsand everything else that's going
on with people that are lessfortunate.
And um, and then we'll get backinto our projections, our
(02:01):
predictions for the games aswell as all those studs that
made first team and second teamall area, all district.
And we won't forget about theladies too in volleyball.
So we'll get into it.
But shout out to James Wood, man.
Four years in a row already wonthe regional championship
because they beat uh EC Glassyesterday, they swept him.
So four years in a row, man.
If they're a senior on thatteam, they win all four years
(02:22):
the states.
That's amazing.
SPEAKER_01 (02:23):
Right, right, right.
SPEAKER_02 (02:24):
But we'll get into
that, ladies and gentlemen.
Tony, go ahead and take us away, brother.
SPEAKER_01 (02:27):
Yep.
All right, so I'll jump intolocal scores.
And uh last week you had MadisonCounty defeat Clark County 27 to
10 on Thursday night, lastThursday night, uh on now Friday
night.
Skyline defeated Warren County42-6.
James Wood destroyed Falkier59-6.
Kettle Run beat Brentsville17-3.
(02:50):
Surando shut out Liberty 41-0.
Stralsburg defeated Central19-13.
Larae beat Page County 55-6.
On Saturday, Haley took care ofbusiness and beat Millbrook
62-21.
And then often to West Virginia.
We don't want to forget aboutour neighbors.
(03:10):
Uh Jefferson defeated Washington48-0.
Swing Mills won 63-0 overHedgesville.
Um, a lot of shutouts.
Morgantown shutout.
Musselman 45 to nothing.
Uh Hampshire County lost toTucker County 28-21, and East
Hardy lost to Petersburg 38-31.
(03:30):
Oh, and I'm sorry, andMartinsburg won as well.
They beat uh Hurricane 62 to 14,I believe.
SPEAKER_02 (03:39):
Yeah, West Virginia
had a lot of blowouts.
SPEAKER_01 (03:41):
Yeah, a lot of
blowouts there.
That seems to be the trendthere.
But uh, alright, so local scoresout the way.
Like Chris just said, at the endof the show, we'll get into all
the first team, all district, who made it for the football
team and the region and allthat.
Give everybody shout outs andtalk, discuss that in the
playoff picture.
Because we'll we'll sit here forquite 20-30 minutes just talking
(04:03):
about that.
So let's welcome on uh CarrieDean to the show.
Carrie, can you hear me?
SPEAKER_03 (04:11):
I can.
Can you hear me?
SPEAKER_01 (04:13):
Yep, loud and clear.
So welcome, welcome to Brotherswith Opinions.
You remember Chris?
SPEAKER_03 (04:18):
I do.
Hi Chris, how you doing?
SPEAKER_02 (04:20):
I'm good.
Good, good, thank you.
It's a pleasure and an honor tohave you on.
So thank you for joining us.
SPEAKER_03 (04:26):
Well, thank you for
having me.
SPEAKER_01 (04:28):
Yeah, absolutely.
Because Chris is like, do I knowher?
I'm like, well, I coached herson since he's in the seventh
and he was in Hoops for Hope.
But if you remember him,Garrett, so you know.
SPEAKER_03 (04:38):
Yes, I was just
saying, probably know Garrett,
with whether you know or not isright, right.
SPEAKER_01 (04:45):
So, Carrie, you
know, without further ado, uh
introduce yourself, you know, what you do, because I think
what you do is very importantand of course what's going on
right now in our country.
So, yeah, take it away.
SPEAKER_03 (04:55):
So I am the director
of operations at Jefferson
County Community Ministries inuh Jefferson County, West
Virginia.
Almost wore my Jefferson shirt.
SPEAKER_01 (05:04):
Um, so I knock over
my mic.
Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_03 (05:12):
So our ministry has,
we're actually more of a social
services agency at this point.
Um we have case management, wehave medical care, we have um
counseling, we have a peerrecovery specialist, uh, we have
a food pantry, we have aclothing closet, um, we have a
(05:32):
year-round shelter now, um,homeless shelter that we house
13 individuals, um, adults.
It's male and female.
Um so we do a little bit ofeverything here in Jefferson
County to help support and anduh uplift our neighbors.
SPEAKER_01 (05:51):
Right.
Yeah, yeah, I noticed that as ayeah, you guys got your hands,
it seems like a little bit ofeverything, which is great.
SPEAKER_03 (05:57):
So when I started,
um we had the clothing closet
and we had intake, um, and ouruh food pantry, of course.
But we have grown tremendouslysince then.
Um we're getting ready to open aclinic, a healthcare clinic that
will be open five days a week.
Um our permanent adult shelteris getting ready to open here.
(06:17):
We're hoping at the beginningfirst quarter of 2026.
Um and eventually we're gonnabuild a whole new community
services building with aone-stop shop for anybody that's
just needing some support andneeding to get by.
SPEAKER_01 (06:32):
Right, right.
SPEAKER_03 (06:33):
Is this is your base
like in Charlestown or where
where yes, we're on like themain street, Washington Street
in downtown Charlestown.
SPEAKER_02 (06:42):
Okay, you talk about
the Jefferson shirt.
SPEAKER_01 (06:45):
I'll I'm a well,
it's Jefferson County.
Lost him, Carrie.
Jeez, I think we did.
He's a he's a goofball, but youknow, back to what you said, you
know, what's important right nowis we know what's going on with
the government, like theshutdown and everything, and how
that affects the community ingeneral, you know.
(07:06):
If you could speak on that, howeverybody's being affected by
this.
SPEAKER_03 (07:11):
We've got here in
Jefferson County, we have a ton
of federal government employees.
Um, we are not far of a uhcommute for the federal and
government employees.
So we uh my husband is one.
We have eight governmentemployees here that commute back
and forth.
Um, so that definitely hit thisarea hard.
(07:31):
Uh and then on top of that, without the SNAP benefits,
Jefferson County has a veryunique population.
Uh, we are the richest county inWest Virginia, however, we also
have the poorest Title I orTitle IX in West Virginia.
So we have this very diversepopulation of people that make
good money and then people thatare below the Alice threshold
(07:54):
where they're barely makingenough to buy, they don't make
enough to be considered um pooror you know.
SPEAKER_01 (08:03):
Yeah, whatever it
was, yeah, however, you want to
put that.
SPEAKER_03 (08:06):
Yeah, but they make
too much to get resources and to
get benefits, so they're writingthat in between.
Um so it's it's an interestingdynamic here.
Um, but with the SNAP, when theSNAP benefits stopped, it really
hit hard.
Uh West Virginia, the averagestate in the United States has
(08:26):
12% of its population on SNAPbenefits.
West Virginia has 16% of itspopulation.
SPEAKER_01 (08:32):
Wow.
SPEAKER_03 (08:33):
So we have a very
high population compared to most
states of people on SNAPbenefits.
Um, all of our schools offerfree breakfast and free lunch to
all of their students because ofthe challenges here in this
county.
So the SNAP benefits hit ushard.
Um just to give you an idea, inOctober, in the first 12 days of
(08:56):
October, our food pantry gaveout 3,642 pounds of food.
SPEAKER_01 (09:01):
Right.
SPEAKER_03 (09:02):
So far in November,
in the first 12 days, we gave
out 12,145 pounds of food.
SPEAKER_02 (09:09):
That's like four
times as much.
Yeah.
And it's because of everythinggoing on.
So a lot of people really needthe help and assistance.
So it's such a beautifulblessing what you're able to
help out with over there.
SPEAKER_03 (09:20):
I am I've been there
for six years and I absolutely
love my job.
It drives me completely crazysome days, and these last three
weeks have tested every bit ofpatience that I have.
Um, but you know, I can'timagine doing anything else.
Uh, it is a blessing to be ableto help people, especially right
(09:42):
now when they have we're used tobeing a supplement.
Our food bank is typically asupplement for people.
They use their snap benefits toget their main things, their
dairy, their produce, theirmeat, correct stuff.
Come in and get their shelfstable stuff from us um as a
supplement to help them getthrough to the end of the month.
(10:03):
But right now we're all we'retheir only means of feeding
their families.
So it's it's been we had 41people in our food pantry in
three hours yesterday.
Man, we are open nine to twelve.
So that tells you the impact isgoing on.
SPEAKER_01 (10:22):
You know, and you
spoke on a little bit like
because you know, West Virginiais what one of the poorest
bottom three, I think, statesyou know, in the whole country.
And I know Arkansas comes offthe top of my head.
I know they're up there too, probably number one or two.
SPEAKER_03 (10:36):
But I think you
might be in there.
SPEAKER_01 (10:38):
Um of them other
southern states, yeah, yeah.
So but yeah, what what you guysdo is great, but what's going on
in this country is horrible.
What's going on?
And I think what finally theyall passed, I did a little bit,
read a little bit.
I think you guys were a part ofit, I guess, with the snap
benefits being brought back, Iguess, temporarily.
SPEAKER_03 (11:01):
And people I
understand some of the people I
was I was reading on some of thelocal community pages today.
Some people have gotten theirsnap benefits on their cards
today.
Right.
Um, so I guess over the nextcouple of days, they're supposed
to be getting their theirbenefits, um, which is you know
a blessing and much needed forpeople.
(11:23):
Um, government employees arestill waiting to find out when
they're going to get right paidagain.
Um some of us are still holdingour breath and hoping that it's
right.
SPEAKER_01 (11:35):
Yeah, hold you know,
hold your breath.
SPEAKER_03 (11:37):
So there are people
that you know that are receiving
SNAP benefits.
Um, I did read today a fewpeople said they to check their
cards because they had theirs.
So I'm hoping, like I said, overthe next few days that everybody
will have their benefits back,um, whether they're gonna do it
in a wave or because typicallyin the state of West Virginia
(11:58):
it's done like it rolls from thebeginning to the end of the
month depending on your lastname.
SPEAKER_01 (12:05):
Right.
SPEAKER_03 (12:05):
So they start at the
beginning of the month with A's
and then you know you'reassigned your day depending on
what your last name is.
Um so you know, for those thatare supposed to get theirs the
first of the month, hopefullythose are the ones that are
getting theirs right away.
Um then they will roll throughthe rest and get caught up and
(12:27):
hopefully get back on track, andthen hopefully we can get back
to a little more stability atwork.
SPEAKER_01 (12:34):
And right, right.
SPEAKER_02 (12:35):
That's so I will
you've read and heard that some
people are receiving thembecause well uh Chris, I got it
right here.
SPEAKER_01 (12:43):
I got it right here.
Uh but I've been confusedbecause okay, go ahead.
SPEAKER_02 (12:47):
The judge ordered to
give the snap benefits no matter
what.
SPEAKER_01 (13:01):
Right, right.
See, we got inside source.
SPEAKER_02 (13:04):
We got firms.
Yeah, that's all we got to carryon today.
SPEAKER_01 (13:07):
That's it.
Yeah, because Chris, what you'regetting at, I from the
Associated Press, it says afterjudges ruled, the Trump
administration must tap intoreserves to fund SNAP.
The administration said it wouldfund up to 65% of its regular
allocations.
When a judge subsequentlyordered full benefits, some
(13:28):
states scrambled to quickly loadSNAP benefits into participants'
cars during a one-day windowbefore the Supreme Court put
that order on, and that wasFriday when they did that.
SPEAKER_03 (13:40):
So I think because
the shutdown ended technically
last night, right?
Um they started moving things inmotion today to get benefits
back out and start gettingthings established, except for,
like I said, governmentemployees are still waiting to
find out when exactly they'regetting yeah, they're gonna get
their pay and along with thetroops and everything.
SPEAKER_01 (14:03):
Everybody and it is
a sad situation.
I've been there before.
Yeah, I've been there before.
There was a when I worked withthe ATF.
Say, you know, it's it's sad youyou're working, but you're not
getting nothing.
SPEAKER_03 (14:15):
Yeah, it's well and
the thing is like for my
husband, he's got an hourcommute to and from work, so
we're still paying for the gasmoney, we're still feeding six
miles.
Um, you know, we we've still gotour normal life, our insurance,
our mortgage, our car payment, all that good stuff.
SPEAKER_01 (14:32):
That stuff don't
stop.
Yeah, life doesn't stop becausethey don't pay us.
SPEAKER_03 (14:37):
No, and if you're
still expecting us to drive back
and forth to work and put thatwear and tear in our car, on our
car and pay that gas money, it'sgotta come from somewhere.
SPEAKER_01 (14:47):
Right, right.
SPEAKER_02 (14:48):
I understand like
both sides of the snap thing.
So people like me who don't haveany kids at the moment, we may
need help.
And I don't, I'm not personallyever on it, but I know people
that are.
I would still be like, I get it,like so.
If your last names were the A,B, or C, you're gonna be way
before T, U, V, all thoseletters.
(15:09):
I I wish they would do it basedoff people that actually have
children and little ones thatneed the help the most.
SPEAKER_01 (15:14):
Right.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03 (15:15):
Once you get going,
like it's the same day every
month.
So, you know, you constantlyhave that, it's at least
regular.
Um, but yeah, I mean, evenduring the shutdown, um, WIC was
not funded.
Those, you know, moms on WICneed that the formula for their
kids, the food, diapers, thatkind of stuff.
(15:36):
They weren't getting any helpthere.
Um, that's a lot.
That's a program that a lot ofpeople, when you hear snap and
you hear the federal governmentstuff, think about those WIC
programs.
Um, and those moms.
I had a mom call me at the verybeginning of this, and she said,
Um, I was just at your pantrylast week.
I know I'm not eligible to comein again.
(15:56):
She said, but I only got a 12%of formula, and now my WIP
benefits aren't didn't come in.
I have no way to get formula formy baby.
She said, I I I don't, I'm notworried about me and my food.
She said, but I've got to eat mybaby somewhere.
SPEAKER_04 (16:12):
Yeah, you're right.
SPEAKER_03 (16:13):
And I said, that's
not what I'm worried about right
now.
I'm going to get you formula, meet me at the front door, and I
will have formula for you.
SPEAKER_01 (16:24):
You see, that that's
great.
That's great.
SPEAKER_03 (16:27):
And the end of the
day, that's what's important.
Um, right.
That's what matters, is makingsure that especially kids and
stuff are taken care of andgetting what they need.
Um, because they don't havecontrol of this.
I mean, none of us do, right?
Like, right.
Just big pawns and a great bigpolitical game at this point.
SPEAKER_01 (16:48):
But I was waiting
for you to say it.
It was coming, but it's true.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03 (16:55):
It's from all sides.
It's it was a chess match, andwe were the pawns, and right.
That was that.
Um, and they were still gettingpaid, so it didn't affect them
any what was going on with us.
So you know, there was no way Iwas gonna let a mom lose sleep
over how she was gonna getformula for her baby.
SPEAKER_02 (17:14):
So that's it's great
to have somebody on with us
today that has such a greatheart.
Like it's it's rare to find thatso often.
So I appreciate it, and I don'tknow you too well, but I know
those people pray for you andbecause of you so often because
you're very yeah, I mean, you'reable to help them, and a lot of
people aren't or don't even careto because like it's not them,
(17:37):
right?
But for you to care and openyour doors and do whatever you
have to do to make sure thoselittle ones get fed, that that's
such a blessing.
And you need to pat yourself onthe back because and it touches
Chris big time.
SPEAKER_01 (17:48):
I mean, I grew up
poor on government, you know,
but really Chris, because youknow he was in the group home
too, so bro.
SPEAKER_02 (17:54):
Yeah, I grew up poor
too, right?
On Fairfield Island and allthat, and was taken away from my
mom when I was five.
Not to get all into it, but Iwas blessed to be put in Evans
home because I had Christmas Iwould have never had and got to
do things I wouldn't.
But without assistance from thegovernment, the state, and
everything else, I would havenever made it.
And for those things to get shutdown or people that truly need
(18:17):
it, that's that's horrible.
Like it's just it doesn't makesense to me that people don't
care about other people thatmuch.
Right.
So, yes, I might need help, youmight need help, Carrie Tony,
but the kids are the ones thatare most important.
They have no choice or no say inany of this, they can't work
yet, they don't have a way toprovide for themselves.
SPEAKER_03 (18:35):
Well, like I said,
here in Jefferson County, there
are I mean, there are very fewjobs here without crossing state
lines and going into Virginia orgoing into Maryland.
There are few, very few jobshere in Jefferson County that
you can make a livable wage on.
So even those that are workingand working hard, it's almost
(18:56):
impossible to make ends meethere.
Um, and the prices of house, thehousing prices just keep going
higher and higher and higher.
SPEAKER_04 (19:06):
Right.
SPEAKER_03 (19:06):
There's no
low-income housing, rent is
through the roof right now.
It's very hard and challengingto live here, um, unless, like I
said, you're going over theborder to Maryland, Virginia to
work, or you know, you're you'regetting some help of some kind.
It's just the nature of ourarea.
(19:27):
Like I said, we've got thepoorest and the richest all in
one county.
SPEAKER_02 (19:31):
But it also goes
back to what you just mentioned
a few seconds ago about thepolitical game.
It's all like we're not we don'thave to get all into it, but I'm
sure you both know, like, it'sall a part of their plan and
what they want.
They're really trying to erasethe middle class, and you're
either really, really rich andwealthy, or you're like the rest
(19:51):
of us.
And good luck trying to get byand see tomorrow.
And if we don't help each other,we might not make it as people.
So it's great that what you'redoing, but we need more people
to really want to help and andgive back because this is what
we're gonna need to do for eachother, especially in times like
this.
SPEAKER_03 (20:05):
I have to say,
Jefferson County is an
incredible place to live.
You know, it's it's a veryspecial place.
Um, we had our the Boy Scoutsdid a food drive on Saturday and
they brought in almost 6,200pounds of food for us.
SPEAKER_04 (20:21):
Wow, awesome.
SPEAKER_03 (20:22):
On Monday morning,
Fellowship Baptist Church showed
up with a trailer of food.
They had about 3,000 pounds offood for us.
Um, and the Ranson andCharlestown governance came
together and had a food drivefor us at the Ranson Civic
Center on Friday.
We have not gotten the weightback on that quite yet, but um,
(20:43):
we had about nine pallets offood there that were donated
from the community comingthrough and donating.
So in just a very short twodays, we and then locust tail
golf course did their um theirturkey drive for us the previous
Saturday, and we brought in umtwo or what was it, 261 turkeys
(21:06):
from that to feed families forThanksgiving dinners.
So we have had a huge outpourfrom the community, but at the
same time, when you do the math,I mean that's 12,000 pounds of
or a little over 10,000 poundsfood, about 12,000 pounds in 12
days.
So as quick as it's coming inour door and the community is
helping, it is going right backout.
SPEAKER_01 (21:27):
So right, you're
moving mountains over there,
yeah.
SPEAKER_03 (21:31):
We're trying.
SPEAKER_01 (21:32):
Yes, it's a trick.
SPEAKER_02 (21:33):
Well, that's very I
love it.
I'm glad to hear that, and allthe respect and and love to you
for what you're doing andhelping give back because you
you seem like you're reallyhelping drive drive this force
and help give back to everybodywho really needs it.
I uh easy, everybody has theirown life, and we all struggle,
and like you said, bills don'tstop, and you have five other
(21:56):
mouths to help feed besidesyourself.
It's a lot, but I I reallycommend you for what you're
doing and able to help with thatcommunity.
SPEAKER_03 (22:04):
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
I wouldn't I wouldn't doanything else.
SPEAKER_01 (22:08):
Yeah, Carrie, uh,
you know, you know, I love you,
respect you, you know, yourfamily and what you do because
you've helped me a lot.
You know, well, I'll put my wifefirst, you know.
She's team mom, but you comesecond, uh close second.
But yeah, what you do is great.
And do you have like any uh likeshout out or information you
want to send out to everybody, you know, to where to come and
(22:29):
if they need help with it, youknow.
SPEAKER_02 (22:31):
And how and how can
people donate and help?
SPEAKER_01 (22:33):
Yeah, that, yeah,
that as well.
SPEAKER_03 (22:36):
So um we like I
said, we are in Charlestown.
We are on the main street onWashington Street, right near
CVS downtown.
Um, we take donations, we'reopen five days a week.
Uh, we're open for services.
So anybody that needs servicesin Jefferson County can come in
Monday through Friday between 9and 12.
Um, and then we take donationsfrom 9 to 2.
(22:58):
Uh the executive staff and stuffis usually there um until about
three o'clock.
So we ask, you know, we say wetake donations till two, and
that way we don't have donationsrolling in the door as we're
trying to get home to ourfamilies.
But we also our website isjccm.us.
There's ways to donate on there, ways to give.
(23:20):
There's a volunteer applicationon there if anybody wants to
donate their time.
And you know, sometimes financesaren't there, but they've got
some time on their hands.
You want to come in and week andjust help out that way.
Um, it is that's how I started.
I volunteered for a year.
Uh, and then I got hired as thefood pantry coordinator, and
then from there moved into myposition as director of
(23:42):
operations.
Um, so the volunteer applicationis on the website as well if
anybody would want to donatetheir time and come in and help
us out.
Um, we're always looking forhelp.
SPEAKER_02 (23:52):
And people can
donate cash and checks and
everything too, right?
SPEAKER_03 (23:55):
Yes, sir.
SPEAKER_02 (23:57):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03 (23:58):
Yep, there's uh
donation link on there for
donating online.

Um$15 a ticket.
There's gonna be some barbecuefor TJ uh T Dogs Barbecue.
There's gonna be a live bandplaying some music, have raffle
baskets, some 50-50.
So it's gonna be a tough one.
SPEAKER_01 (25:36):
Oh, yeah, there you
go.
All right, and then well,Thanksgiving's coming up, so of
course, anything for that, theholiday coming up?
SPEAKER_03 (25:42):
Um like we have
turkeys for families that are in
need.
Um, so anybody, you know, againin Jefferson County, come in,
they get food.
We include turkeys if they needa turkey set uh for Thanksgiving
at Mustard Dixons, that kind ofstuff.
So we've been including those inall the food baskets right now.
SPEAKER_04 (26:01):
All right.
SPEAKER_02 (26:03):
And and anybody who
works at that casino over there
in Charlestown, you guys canhelp with some of y'all's funds
and support Carrie and what'sgoing on in the world.
SPEAKER_01 (26:11):
There you go.
SPEAKER_02 (26:12):
They do put some of
that money away.
Do they?
SPEAKER_01 (26:16):
So they do it.
There we go.
SPEAKER_02 (26:18):
A lot of money in
that building over there.
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (26:24):
Well, Carrie, hey, I
appreciate it.
And of course, again, everythingyou do.
So appreciate it and much love.
And thank and thanks for beingon the show.
You can come back on anytime.
SPEAKER_02 (26:33):
All right.
SPEAKER_01 (26:34):
Yeah, okay.
You're welcome.
SPEAKER_02 (26:35):
Have a great
evening, Carrie.
Thank you, you too.
All right, thank you.
SPEAKER_01 (26:42):
All right, everyone.
That was Carrie Dean.
And I was saying, hey, Chris, that was some good stuff, man,
and timely too, of what we'regoing through with the
government right now.
SPEAKER_02 (26:51):
On that front, and
at the end of the day, it really
is about helping each other out, man.
We if we can't help ourneighbors, then who the hell can
we help?
SPEAKER_01 (26:57):
Right.
SPEAKER_02 (26:57):
And who are you
gonna ask for for help when you
really need it?
Like, you guys, if you're ableto help donate a couple dollars,
five, ten dollars, whatever, acouple cans of fruit or
something, man.
Try to help get back becausepeople need it in Winchester,
then Charlestown, wherever.
But for real, if you guys canhelp, man, you know we're all
struggling as people, but if wecan help more than the next
person, let's do our part andand help each other out.
SPEAKER_01 (27:19):
I mean, Chris,
you're with me.
I'm with you.
Help people out because Ibelieve in karma, man.
I believe, you know, paying itforward, like your your event,
pay it forward, man.
What you do, good'll come back, come back to you somehow, some
way.
It might not be the next day,but in the future.
So do do good deeds.
To me, that that's importantthat do a good deed at once a
(27:41):
day.
Yeah, at least something.
SPEAKER_02 (27:43):
If you guys don't
have anywhere to go on
Thanksgiving, I'll be at workbecause that's that New York
life.
They don't care about the teamand stuff I work with.
We all gotta go to work.
But if you guys are off anddon't really have anywhere to go
for turkeys and mac and cheeseand all that, man, go on over to
Tony and Nikki's, man, and youknow, enjoy a nice meal.
SPEAKER_01 (28:03):
Hey, I mean, hey,
you're welcome.
We do it up, we cook it up, man.
You know what I mean?
So, hey, get a haircut fromChristian.
SPEAKER_02 (28:09):
So hang out, man.
It's all about the community,man.
And I know I'm speaking forTony, but I'll donate$100 or
whatever.
You can help you guys out, man.
Like try to help out thecommunity, but in one way or
another.
SPEAKER_01 (28:21):
Right, right.
Well, Chris, uh, you know, goodsh good stuff, man.
Good stuff.
So let's jump into these highschool playoffs in the show
here.
That the you know, Virginia HighSchool playoffs.
SPEAKER_02 (28:33):
And the North
Virginia talk recently.
SPEAKER_01 (28:35):
So do you you want
to you want to discuss that or
you want to go over first team?
Who made first team?
It's up first.
I'll let you call it.
You want to you want to announcefirst teams and everything?
SPEAKER_02 (28:44):
Let's go ahead and
knock out the playoffs.
All right.
Yeah, we can shout out all thefirst teamers, like the young
man over there, quarterback ofJames Wood.
Yeah.
And uh, of course, JoJo andZaydan and all those guys.
But yeah, we get into thematchups actually.
SPEAKER_01 (28:56):
All right, so in uh
Virginia and it's the bull run
dish.
This is your, I believe, what dothey call them?
Like 2A, 2B, whatever.
They're 2A.
All right.
SPEAKER_02 (29:07):
Clark County's
division.
SPEAKER_01 (29:09):
It's uh Strasburg,
is who it is.
They're 2A, right?
Because uh Skyline number 3A,we're for Haley's 4A, so it goes
that way.
So I'll start with 2A firstbecause that's our local school.
So Strasburg's got a bye.
They got the one seed.
Central plays Fort Defiance, anduh Buckingham County has a bye,
(29:31):
and then it's Stewart's draftsversus Madison County.
SPEAKER_02 (29:35):
So I'm definitely
one for in that is Central.
SPEAKER_01 (29:39):
Yeah, I think
Central will win that game.
Madison County, Sewart, I don'tknow much about, but of course,
Seward's drafts ranked third.
But to me, that you know, itdon't mean nothing complaints.
Everybody's zero and zero.
unknown (29:50):
Yep.
SPEAKER_01 (29:50):
But I t I take
Stralsburg to win.
I think they're gonna they'regonna win states, so in that
division.
SPEAKER_02 (29:56):
They win the state
championship last year, didn't
they?
SPEAKER_01 (29:58):
Yeah, I believe,
yeah, they So they'll go back to
back.
I have to double check.
I'm not sure.
I should have checked that.
I want to say they did, but Ithink maybe they lost once they
got in the state championship.
SPEAKER_02 (30:11):
Hey, well, shout out
to the Rams.
Good luck, fellas.
SPEAKER_01 (30:13):
Right.
Good luck, Strallsburg.
My aunt's all Mamada, shegraduated from Stralsburg, on
Betty.
SPEAKER_02 (30:19):
So good luck for the
Falcons because the Rams have a
bothered me.
SPEAKER_01 (30:22):
Right.
So let's jump in the 2A.
Or I mean, sorry, I just did a3A.
You got uh Kettle Run playsWarren County.
And I know you got something tosay about that, Warren County.
SPEAKER_02 (30:39):
They won around.
I'm surprised though that WarrenCounty has like one or two wins
and they made the playoffs.
Like that to me, that just blowsme up.
SPEAKER_01 (30:46):
That's another
topic.
It's just it's everybody makesthe playoffs now.
It's all changed up and watereddown.
So yeah.
Well, wait till I get to WestVirginia.
SPEAKER_02 (30:56):
In West Virginia,
it's 16 T.
Like I don't remember that whenwe went to school.
If your team won three, four, five games, you weren't making
the playoffs.
SPEAKER_01 (31:04):
Right, right.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (31:06):
Good thing for
Caitlin and all those kids, of
course, who got nothing but lovefor them, but I was just
surprised they made it.
And now I'm pulling for them.
Let's go.
SPEAKER_01 (31:12):
Yeah, they it's the
one versus eight seed.
SPEAKER_02 (31:15):
Let's go, Wildcats.
SPEAKER_01 (31:16):
So then you have uh
James Monroe played Brentsville.
Uh Culpepper County playsGoochlin, and Skyline plays
Meridian.
First round.
SPEAKER_02 (31:26):
I'm definitely going
for Skyline to win that whole
3A.
They made it the States lastyear.
SPEAKER_01 (31:33):
To uh Skyline?
SPEAKER_02 (31:35):
Or the Regions.
They made it to Goods.
SPEAKER_01 (31:38):
They went down and
played, oh shit.
They went to Richmond.
I can't remember who theyplayed.
That score they played but lostdown there.
But yeah, we all took that hikedown to Richmond to watch them.
So yeah, they they gotdominated.
I must say they they gotdominated once they got it to
that level.
SPEAKER_02 (31:57):
What but who does
Skyline have that's only a
junior this year that the restof those teams don't have?
SPEAKER_01 (32:03):
We were gonna speak
at that after I got done.
SPEAKER_02 (32:05):
Well, I was still
Zaydan and y'all don't, so good
luck, fellas.
SPEAKER_01 (32:10):
Yeah.
I was I was saying I was savingthe best for last.
All right, Chris.
We'll we'll once we get in thefirst team and all that stuff.
Don't get ahead of yourselves.
SPEAKER_02 (32:20):
Y'all know I love
Zaydan, poor for him big time,
and we've had him on the showwhen he was just a ninth grader.
So that Zaydan is the truth.
SPEAKER_01 (32:27):
Oh, we on it.
We know we we speak it intoexistence.
We know.
All right, so on to 4A, 4Adivision, one of them.
It's uh George Washington gotthe number one seat, Hanley got
the twos.
SPEAKER_02 (32:42):
See, now that blows
my mind too, Tony.
SPEAKER_01 (32:45):
Right.
SPEAKER_02 (32:45):
When I went to
college in Lynchburg, like we
played Danville and all thethat's an hour from it's it's 10
minutes from North Carolina,right?
Yeah, yeah.
How are they in Hanley's noteven region?
Because I'm not in regions yet.
SPEAKER_01 (32:59):
Like Blacksburg's in
our region.
Well, they play Blacksburg.
So that's same.
How far is Blacksburg?
SPEAKER_02 (33:05):
That's damn near
goes further than Blacksburg's.
You're right.
Right, you're right.
It's on the border of NorthCarolina.
I'm just surprised.
Like, even with glass and allthose schools from Lynchburg and
playing Hamlet.
SPEAKER_01 (33:19):
I'm not on the VHSO
commit.
I don't know how they broke allthis and did all that.
SPEAKER_02 (33:23):
It's stretched that
far.
Just for like an area game, kindof like an area game.
Like, so when you're playingabout to travel five, six hours
just to play your first roundgame.
SPEAKER_01 (33:33):
Well, some of these
damn teams have to do that
during the regular season, justfor a regular because they're in
the same or region, whatever.
SPEAKER_02 (33:39):
That's crazy.
That's like college.
SPEAKER_01 (33:41):
So it's all changes.
I know you're used to anything.
You're used to playing, you wasused to playing Clark County
every weekend.
So we only played in one year.
SPEAKER_02 (34:00):
They whooped us too.
They whooped the varsity, theydidn't whoop me.
Shout out to Ben Bates andCullen and Mike Dolman and all
them.
They should they beat us, butthey they ain't beat me and
Burks and Lang, man.
SPEAKER_01 (34:14):
Moving on.
So as I said, George Washingtononce he plays Blacksburg.
So George Washington probablywin that game.
They should.
Uh Sirando plays James Wood.
SPEAKER_02 (34:23):
Which is crazy.
Do you think they made them playeach other because they're in
the same district to get themout the way sometimes?
It's just how it.
SPEAKER_01 (34:30):
I mean, Hanley plays
Liberty.
They're not they're not asclose.
SPEAKER_02 (34:37):
I mean, Liberty's
back.
I'm just curious if that's howit kind of you think maybe they
did it on purpose.
SPEAKER_01 (34:41):
It's just how it
played into how the regions are
broke down.
SPEAKER_02 (34:44):
Well, I'm going, I'm
going for James Wood.
Because they've never been goodlike that to me, and I'm going,
I'm going for them.
SPEAKER_01 (34:50):
Right.
And then uh the last one in thatdivision is uh Jefferson Forest
versus EC Glass.
So the winner of GeorgeWashington Blacksburg and Schrad
or James Wood will face eachother, and Hanley, Liberty will
play the winner of JeffersonForce in E.C.
Glass.
SPEAKER_02 (35:09):
Which would be at
Hanley still.
SPEAKER_01 (35:12):
Right, yeah.
Mm-hmm.
Yep, correct.
Because if Hanley wins, they canactually, I think, have a total
of three home games.
Before State.
Until before, yeah, like thesemifinals, fight, what, you
know.
So they they got a pretty goodpass, you know, throughout the
playoffs, having home fieldadvantage.
(35:34):
Because, you know, they are thetwo seed.
So it's until they meet, youknow, if they collide with
George White, if they win, thenthey wouldn't be home.
SPEAKER_02 (35:40):
So was George
Washington undefeated?
SPEAKER_01 (35:43):
I want to say they
both had the same record.
It was just some kind of tiebreaking.
SPEAKER_02 (35:46):
They made more, they
scored more points with
something because Hamley, thatwas like 45 a game.
SPEAKER_01 (35:51):
Yeah, they got the
we uh because I think they both
finished with the same rate, just one loss.
Both of them were nine and one.
So yeah.
So that's Virginia, that's ourlocal schools for uh Virginia,
and then jumping on over to WestVirginia, because we don't want
to forget about our neighbors.
We'll mention East Hardy, man.
(36:12):
This is single A, because uhWest Virginia only goes up to
4A, Chris, if you didn't know.
So East Hardy's a smaller state.
Yeah, they're a smaller state.
So East Hardy plays uh Shermanfirst round in 1A and uh jumping
to 3A.
You got Hampshire County.
Look, as the 15th seed.
(36:35):
So they have like 16 teams intheir playing number two
Princeton in 3A.
SPEAKER_02 (36:44):
They might do the
whole state in one bracket.
SPEAKER_01 (36:46):
I think every I
think every school in West
Virginia makes the playoffs,honestly.
I think every single they don'tboot nobody out, they just put
them all in there.
Have to find out about that.
But on the 4A, the big dogs, that I know you want to hear,
you know, Spring Mills playsMuslim.
There you go.
Two local playing each other.
Talking about that.
Jefferson and Washington playeach other.
(37:08):
Uh George Washington plays OakHill, Huntington plays
Hedgesville, and Universityplays uh Parkersburg.
SPEAKER_02 (37:17):
Martinsburg has a
bye.
SPEAKER_01 (37:18):
Yeah, Martinsburg
has a bye.
SPEAKER_02 (37:21):
So those first two
weeks of the season, everybody,
including myself, I was like, damn, they couldn't be like
that.
But they stepped up and playedteams that are nowhere near
Charlestown or Martinsburg orwhatever.
They're nowhere near there, andthey played them.
They played a team from Candom,New Jersey, week one guy.
They went down to Martinsburg, beat them by like 50, 60 points,
which is crazy, right?
(37:42):
But they stepped up and playedteams like that.
But Martinsburg's always beenthat way.
SPEAKER_01 (37:48):
Yeah, Martinsburg's
always been that way.
They don't duck wreck.
I could I can give them that.
But that's why they're as goodas they are.
SPEAKER_02 (37:57):
I'm waiting for and
football.
I'm waiting.
Hanley, where y'all at, man?
I don't know Martinsburg peoplelike that.
Where y'all at, Hanley?
SPEAKER_04 (38:03):
Right.
SPEAKER_02 (38:04):
Shout out to Zach
for playing Lills last year.
But why why ain't nobody playingMartinsburg, man?
Those are the two biggest citiesin the area.
We don't play those guys.
Are we really afraid ofMartinsburg like that when it
comes to basketball andfootball, Tony?
SPEAKER_01 (38:19):
Football, yes, I
believe they are.
I will say, I think they don'twant to play them because they
know it'll or they think theycan't hang with.
I feel they can.
No, it don't.
Yeah, it's just not district.
SPEAKER_02 (38:36):
If Hanley's playing
Martinsburg, he's always really
good.
That only that's only gonna makethem better.
SPEAKER_01 (38:40):
Hey, anybody
listening, chime in?
Should Hanley play Martinsburgin football?
The last Chris, the last time weplayed Martinsburg, I can't
remember the exact year, but Iremember we played Carr County
that year as well, and Hanleywas bad.
And this is probably why they Idon't know why they scope
because Carrie said yes.
SPEAKER_02 (38:59):
Was that Carrie that
was just on with us?
SPEAKER_01 (39:01):
Maybe probably,
yeah.
I can't see nothing right now.
No comments for some reason.
SPEAKER_02 (39:07):
Think about how many
people came to the basketball
game.
SPEAKER_01 (39:10):
Uh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (39:10):
I'm just gonna I
won't Hanley played Martinsburg.
Even when we were young, I'mlike, we played Jefferson, I
mean when we played Charlestown, which I talked about a little
bit ago on the show.
Why doesn't Haley playMartinsburg?
It used to be an every yearthing for us.
SPEAKER_01 (39:24):
All right.
It probably starts with this.
Like what Haley played Muslimin, sorry, excuse me.
What a couple years ago, and webeat him, right?
But we used to always playMuscleman.
I know.
Oh, well, this is what I'mgetting at.
Remember, because when we werein school, Haley, we that was
one of the biggest rivalries wasplaying Muslim in every year.
But remember, all the fightsstarted breaking out like after
(39:47):
every game, because there wassuch a rivalry with those two
stuff.
And that's when it's it stopped.
So I think really ultimatelywhat it is is that's just what
they're trying to avoid isconflict.
You know what I mean?
Like the ride, which I get you,but Sharando plays Martinsburg.
I mean, I don't think theyplayed them this year, but
(40:08):
they've played them like thelast five or six years.
All the time, and we neverplayed.
Correct.
Right.
Sharando's been good for awhile.
SPEAKER_02 (40:14):
Y'all afraid to play
Martinsburg and not the kids,
not the not the players.
Oh, hell no, the kids ain'tscared.
No.
Make it happen, man.
Stop being afraid to play a teamthat's 20 minutes away.
SPEAKER_01 (40:23):
I mean, the kids
definitely are not.
I asked the kids, uh, yeah, theywant to play.
They want to play because theyknow each other too.
That's the great thing aboutthis community, this area.
They all know each other too foreither AAU or traveling foot,
anything, you know.
So they're half of them arefriends anyway, even though
they're in another state.
But we're only what 20 minutesfrom Martinsburg, 30 the most.
SPEAKER_02 (40:45):
The Liberty Talk
here and all those people like
come on.
And and they're really good.
I just wish Hanley would playthem.
SPEAKER_01 (40:51):
Win or lose.
I'm with you.
I wish they would go back toplaying the Muslims every year.
SPEAKER_02 (40:57):
We mentioned all
those games.
We're about to get into the alldistrict, but if we had to
mention Martinsburg, theyprobably have 12 players that
made all district.
SPEAKER_01 (41:06):
Right.
I couldn't find the list onthere.
I'm not sure if there's a, butI'll I got some people I could
try to find to get their firstteam so we can get that on the
next episode.
SPEAKER_02 (41:14):
But uh you want to
shout out some kids you used to
coach growing up?
SPEAKER_01 (41:19):
Oh my god.
Uh shoot Joe Side, Jojo.
I did for you know, it was onHanley.
Didn't coach him all the waythrough, but had him in an
all-star game, and plus inbasketball.
And who else?
Uh Jameer Washington, who madefirst.
Let's let's go through it.
I'll tell you if I coach thesekids or not.
Okay.
So, first team in NorthwesternDistrict, okay?
(41:40):
We'll start with quarterbacks.
Liberty quarterback, AP Hall, first team, Owen Neal, James
Wood, who's only a junior, madeit.
Jared C from Sherando, JustinRogers, Kettle Run, Noah
Richards, Kettle Run, DJ Jordan,Kettle Run, Ryan McDonald,
(42:00):

Green, Hanley, uh Jake, JaquanOffitt, Coach Tim, Hanley,
Carter Lube.
(42:21):
I guess I'm uh sorry if I'mbutchering your name.
Uh Kettle Run for running back.
Sorry, I'm not giving positionhere.
This is your running back, setuh Carter Lube, Omar Thompson,
Meridian, Duke Dawson, Meridian, and there's our boy Zaydan
Burks, Skyline.
Shout out uh to him, runningback Jalen, Tasco Murray from
(42:43):
Sharando, Jameer Washington,Coach Him, Hanley, uh Justin
Clark, Falkier, because this ison the receivers.
First team, Justin Clark, ZachRoth, Kettle Run, Colton Lou,
Kettle Run, Adrick Yurish, JamesWood, Rome Johnson, Millbrook,
and Will Yoder for Hanley.
(43:07):
Dude, I was saying that too.
I'm like, are these just handingout participation trophies now?
I'm just gonna keep it real.
Like, I don't remember the listfor first team being this long.
Like Yeah, you know, so thatthat's another debate.
Yeah, they put in too many likeon it just to show them love, I
guess.
But tight ends, you had RexMcAllister from Meridian and
(43:30):
Marquise Lockert from uh Skylineat tight ends or kickers, Mason
Savage coached him uh atMillbrook, Tristan Walker, and
he got it for kicker.
Remember the field goal kickerMason.
SPEAKER_02 (43:43):
Sarah Todd's son,
right?
SPEAKER_01 (43:44):
Yeah, Sarah Todd's
son, yes.
I've coached him, yeah.
Tristan Walker, Skyline, kickreturner, Alonzo, Ramo, Ramos,
Liberty, of course, kickreturner, Zaden for kick
returner, first uh skyline, andoffense all purpose, Mark Criggs
Jr., Brentsville, and they putanother one all purpose, Gavin,
(44:07):
Cook at Liberty.
So that's your offensive forfirst team.
Okay.
Now I know your favorite isdefense, right?
SPEAKER_02 (44:17):
Shout out to James.
SPEAKER_01 (44:18):
That's what that's
that's what you want to hear.
So let's highlight.
We got defensive linemen first,Jackson Alexander, Kettle Run,
Justin Rogers, Kettle Run,Jonathan Leach, Skyline, Heston,
LaRue, Jason LaRue's son, JamesWood, uh, Parker Edwards,
Millbrook, Evan Combs.
(44:40):
I coached him, Sharando, AndrewTaylor, Sharando, and Carson
Green at Hanley to round out thedefensive lineman.
Your first team, NorthwesternDistrict linebackers, Pete
Kuzma, Kettle Run, Keaton Grace,Meridian, Andre Ford, Skyline,
coached him for a minute.
Same thing with Jojo.
(45:01):
Uh Marquise Lockert, Skyline,Jackson Ledford, James Wood,
Chris Bradford, coached Tim, uhMillbrook, Pete Carter,
Sharando, losing my place here,Chris.
Chase Dibbert.
I think I got that right.
Uh Sherando.
And then our boy Jojo, JosiahJohnson, and Hanley rounds out.
(45:24):
Or I'm sorry, and Trent Gomezfrom Hanley, both linebackers.
All right, defensive backs,Justin Clark, Falkier, Dyson
Tapscott.
There's them Tapscots.
I ain't even got to say what'scool.
Well, I better say Kettle Run.
It used to be Liberty.
Colton Lou, Kettle Run.
Zayden Barks.
Made for defensive back skyline.
(45:45):
Caden McCullough, James Wood,Donovan Blackwell, Sharando,
Will Yoder, Hanley, and AmariBrown.
Coach Tim, Hanley.
And what we want to say aboutthese uh basketball players
playing.
SPEAKER_02 (45:58):
Shout out to Amari,
shout out to Travis and Jessica.
Shout out to Amari, man.
Make first team his first yearever playing.
Yes.
And I've been telling that boysince Kyron and Isaiah and all
of them, man, and Keon, butshout out to you, Amari, man.
Make it first team, man.
That's what's up, man.
And you guys about to go winstates in football, you and
Christian and Kyron andeverybody.
unknown (46:19):
Right.
SPEAKER_02 (46:20):
Basketball.
But shout out to you for real, man, for making first.
That's not easy to do.
SPEAKER_01 (46:25):
It's not.
It's hey, it's a it's a greathonor.
They can't take it away from youfrom you.
But Amari's a hell of anathlete.
Once I first saw him in middleschool, man, he came out.
I was helping Danny Moore alittle bit with football,
surely.
But man, he came out, and evenmy son Christian was like, man,
you gotta see Amari how high hecan jump.
And man, fast athletic.
(46:46):
So definitely a great athlete.
And football, I feel Susan, he'sdefinitely should be out there.
And I think he'll go far withfootball, honestly.
If he wants to.
SPEAKER_02 (46:56):
So did you coach
JoJo?
SPEAKER_01 (46:59):
Yeah, Daniel Morgan,
I definitely did.
But football.
SPEAKER_02 (47:03):
What did he do this
year?
Was he something?
SPEAKER_01 (47:05):
But he was.
I'm getting to that.
Defensive player of the year, let's just say.
4-8.
Defensive player.
Hey, one of the most respectfulkids you'll ever meet.
You know, yes, sir, no, sir.
He says it so much it starts toget annoying.
But he's he's a great kid.
Like he's a he's a great kid.
(47:27):
But a monster on the field.
A switch turns on when he getson that football field.
So uh let me finish this up realquick.
Punters for uh first team.
Jack Ogle, Sherando, and AidenBell, James Wood, uh Punk
Returner, Duke Dawson, Meridian.
Uh Dyson Tapscott, Kettle Run.
(47:48):
And then your all-purposedefensive players is Colt
Crittenden, Sherando, and JTTaylor at Kettle Run.
So there you go, Chris.
That's first team.
Alright.
And then we'll give shout-outsreal quick.
I'll run through, I'm not gonnarun through all of the second
team, or I'll be here for 10more minutes.
(48:08):
But, you know, Duncan Henslerfor Haley made second team as
quarterback.
Uh Christian Boone, skyline forcenter.
Um who else we got here?
Let me run to Audrey Ford forreceiver, made second team at
Skyline.
Uh Zaquar Williams, shout out.
You know, Haley, second teamtight end.
(48:30):
Amari Brown, second team kickreturner for Hanley.
And then uh Dyson Tapscott, second team all purpose.
And then defensively, you had uhJalen Washington for Hanley,
who's only a sophomore.
Feel he's gonna be a stud.
That's gonna be a kid to watchout for, Chris.
SPEAKER_02 (48:51):
Jalen Washington?
SPEAKER_01 (48:52):
Yeah.
I'm telling you, man, he isbuilt like a college running
back, right?
He was running that ball againstMillbrook they put him in.
And them kids were literallydone, they were making business
decisions.
He's built low to the ground.
His legs are like tree trunks.
Them kids did not want to hithim, man.
I'm telling you, Jalen.
(49:12):
I don't know, they give it, hemight make a run for that, you
know, all-time rushing in theareas, because they didn't want
to hit that boy.
They did not want anything to dowith him.
Built like Barry Sanders, let'sput it that way.
So let me finish this out.
Uh, let's see.
Then we got Millbrook, we gotMason Turner who made it second
(49:36):
team defense uh coached him.
Well, he played with Christianand travel football.
Isaiah Baxter's congrats.
Another basketball player, firstyear, second team for defensive
back.
Well, he led the area ininterceptions, right?
I forgot to look that up, Chris, but I think you're right.
He might, if he led the air, that's a dis if he led the area
in interceptions, he should havemade first team.
(49:59):
I don't care if it's your firstyou if you show out like that,
anything, lead the area and suchyou how are you second team?
SPEAKER_02 (50:06):
You know, athlete is
sort of like not saying he can
go pro in both sports likeJulius Peppers and then, but
those are certain specialathletes.
And he's got to get some burn onthe court this year.
I'm sorry, Zach.
If you're looking for likeTyrus, I'm with you.
He got to get some burn.
SPEAKER_01 (50:22):
I'm with you.
SPEAKER_02 (50:24):
I feel the Knicks
will be better near the end of
the year this year, is becausewe finally have some depth, and
the coach that we have now isgonna play more people so that
the starters don't get so tiredby the time the end of the
season comes.
You have people for a reading ofthat.
You have a lot of talenthandler.
You guys have sophomores andjuniors that are really good,
but if you can't let some ofthose people play that's working
in practice and helping yourstarters get better, man, it can
(50:46):
get rough.
SPEAKER_01 (50:47):
Correct.
SPEAKER_02 (50:48):
And Isaiah Isaiah
deserves some playing time.
SPEAKER_01 (50:51):
We know they're very
deep on the bat, very deep on
the basketball team.
SPEAKER_02 (50:55):
I mean, we're
talking football, but I'm saying
that's the kind of athletesy'all have.
Amari and Isaiah's first year.
They made fucking all the time.
SPEAKER_01 (51:01):
But but I know what
you're getting at.
We've talked about this.
It's like they got enough tohave where they get they
basically had like, to me, awhole nother starting five on
the bit.
SPEAKER_02 (51:12):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (51:13):
Correct.
Yeah.
And I heard that with that classbecause I coached that.
That was the first class I had,you know, Christian Namari,
Isaiah, all that.
Dude, we were 15 deep andmid-15.
And we could rotate down tothird string.
And that's that's how talentedthat class is, this senior
class.
SPEAKER_02 (51:31):
I mean I'll keep it
real though, Hanley.
Love y'all, man, but we ain'tgot Zaydan.
unknown (51:37):
Right.
SPEAKER_02 (51:37):
Tony, Tony's.
I don't know.
Zaydan, who led the state inRussian, and it's not for his
area, the district, Front Rural,Winchester, it's for the whole
state.
Hampton, Richmond, Roanoke,Arlington.
He led the whole state, all sixdivisions in Russian.
Nobody else had over 1,600 yardsthat it showed.
Zaden had over 2,200 yards.
(52:00):
He also made all-state kickreturner and all-state defensive
back.
That's three all-states.
He's kind of like Ronald Curryand Alan Iverson, what he's
doing right now.
SPEAKER_01 (52:07):
Right.
SPEAKER_02 (52:08):
And he had plenty of
kicks called back that he was
running, taking to the house.
SPEAKER_01 (52:12):
He had two, he
finished with 2,225 yards on the
season, rushing.
SPEAKER_02 (52:19):
That's not ladies
and gentlemen, he had less than
1,900 going into his last game.
200 and something yards firstquarter last game.
SPEAKER_01 (52:25):
Well, I'll tell you,
yeah, it says look, I'll read it
real quick.
And I got, you know, this isfrom the Northern Virginia day.
It said he needed uh only 106yards to get to 2,000.
Burks churned out 265 yards inthe first quarter.
SPEAKER_02 (52:44):
That's most people
have a career high of that.
SPEAKER_01 (52:50):
So he ended with you
know a game high, 330.
Dude, he could have got what'sthe state rate like for a single
game?
SPEAKER_02 (53:00):
He could have got
them in the whole game.
It's like 30, 540 yards.
SPEAKER_01 (53:04):
Yeah.
Oh, he would have crushed it.
SPEAKER_02 (53:06):
It's a lot.
But if you had 265 in the firstquarter, which means he might
have gotten 540 in the firsthalf.
SPEAKER_01 (53:14):
Yes.
SPEAKER_02 (53:14):
So like this kid
might have ran for a thousand
yards.
Like if you're really going onthe thing, 250 a quarter would
be a thousand yards.
Imagine he gets a thousand inone game.
SPEAKER_01 (53:24):
Well, hold on.
According to Max Preps, uh, so Iguess it's on a he he finished
with two two thousand twothirty-four.
So they gave him like nine moreyards.
And I because I wanted to touchon this, Zaydan averaged over,
he basically averaged 11 yards acarry.
Okay.
SPEAKER_02 (53:43):
That's a first down
every carry.
SPEAKER_01 (53:44):
He ran the ball.
He had a long of 80, scored 21touchdowns, and this is what, as
a football coach, formerfootball coach, this is what
said zero fumbles.
He didn't fumble that ball onetime.
Knock on wood, because you don'twant that to be a big one.
Yeah, well, oh yeah.
I hope I don't jinx him.
Yeah.
But impressive young man.
(54:05):
Known him since he was aboutseven, eight years old as well.
And always been, and you knowthis, we know his pops, and
that, you know, it's in the gym.
SPEAKER_02 (54:15):
Right.
Even him, even Pat will tell youhe's my son better than me.
SPEAKER_01 (54:19):
I mean, both his
sons.
Little Pat's good too.
SPEAKER_02 (54:22):
We're talking about
Zaydan right now.
This kid's going, he might gostraight from high school to the
NFL.
They might change the rules.
SPEAKER_01 (54:28):
Didn't didn't
Maurice Clarette try that and
then he ruined his career?
Remember how he was, yeah.
He was like, I'm going straightto the NFL.
They're like, yeah, he ruinedhis career trying to do that.
They was like, nope.
You gotta do that.
Yeah, football.
Football is different.
Tony.
SPEAKER_02 (54:46):
Yo.
SPEAKER_01 (54:47):
Huh?
SPEAKER_02 (54:47):
I caught it two
years ago.
I said he's gonna be better.
You did.
You did.
I had C Russell on.
I told C that he's gonna bebetter than you as an all-time
athlete in the Airbnb.
And then I called 1v1 the nextafter him.
But right now Zaydan is livingit.
SPEAKER_01 (55:00):
Yeah, correct.
Correct.
But there's a lot of greatathletes in this area.
SPEAKER_02 (55:04):
I always wish to
feed if Tristan didn't get hurt,
of course, and then if Zaydanwould have came to Hanley.
And honestly, if Tristan wouldhave even went to Skyround, but
if those two play together, they'd be the best duo in the
whole fucking country.
SPEAKER_01 (55:16):
Oh, he said the
whole country.
SPEAKER_02 (55:18):
He is a one running
back receiver together.
SPEAKER_01 (55:22):
Yeah.
Oh.
SPEAKER_02 (55:23):
Just one running
back receiver.
Tristan and Zaydan could be thebest in the country.
SPEAKER_01 (55:28):
Yeah, you might be
right.
I don't know.
You could be right.
SPEAKER_02 (55:31):
Tristan Daly to the
pros because Steven's going.
He's on his way.
SPEAKER_01 (55:35):
Right.
Well, Chris, let's let's wrap, let's wrap this up.
We spoke with that.
I mean, who you think?
How far you think Haley's gonnago in your opinion?
SPEAKER_02 (55:46):
I'm always gonna
hope they go all the way, but I
don't know those other schools.
So Hanley wouldn't play at homeon game three if they have to go
down to Danville.
That they have to go all the waydamn damn near to Carolina.
SPEAKER_01 (55:56):
Well, that it is
what it is.
SPEAKER_02 (55:58):
I would hope we
would, but they need to unleash
Christian.
SPEAKER_01 (56:01):
Right.
SPEAKER_02 (56:02):
They don't even have
no scouting report on him.
They don't have a lot ofhighlights on Christian, no
scouting report.
Coach, player coach of the year, unleash that playbook and do
some special shit for Christianand keep using Will and Amari
and Washington and all them.
But look, you got a six-fiveRainey Moss over there.
I know he's light skinned, butuse him.
He's gonna moss everybody outthere.
(56:22):
He's already first team allstate in basketball and might be
played again.
Use him.
You got Christian Will inbasketball.
Now you got Christian Will infootball, man.
Look.
I'm not saying that just becauseit's your son and that's my
nephew, man.
SPEAKER_01 (56:36):
No, I hey I preach.
SPEAKER_02 (56:37):
Haneley always has
more potential in a lot of
schools, man, but we don't wedon't utilize it the right way,
and it's fucked up.
But look, that's why I thinky'all scared the duck that smoke
in Martinsburg.
SPEAKER_01 (56:47):
Well, to me, it's
it's hey man, we know this, and
everybody, and a lot of we'rethe only ones who said this.
A lot of people have said this.
We get deeper into the playoffs, what hurts us?
We can't throw the ball.
Right?
You you get deeper into play andplay these teams further south,
tougher competition.
We got to stretch the field.
SPEAKER_02 (57:06):
So like you said, I
don't care if you love Will,
who's been first team alldistrict two years in a row now
with Yoder, and now you gotChristian who's like Brandy
Moss.
Dude, they got and then they gotAmari and Jameer and all them,
they got a squad.
Like, you got you got a secretweapon, man.
Use them.
The team don't know him.
They'll be like, I don't knowthis kid.
He's 6'5, he's probably nobody.
(57:27):
End zone, end zone, like yeah, right.
SPEAKER_01 (57:30):
I'm being serious.
SPEAKER_02 (57:32):
But I'm gonna track
to their advantage.
SPEAKER_01 (57:33):
Oh, big yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (57:36):
I'm gonna tell you
when Amari and Braylon and Keon
and Kyron and all them go overto basketball, they're gonna win
the states.
So y'all might as well try toget it done with him in football
right now.
SPEAKER_01 (57:45):
Right, wouldn't that
be awesome?
Football and basketball, theypull that off.
Yeah, they could do that.
Yeah.
Well, good luck to him.
They play Liberty this Saturday.
And unfortunately, I'm gonnamiss the game because my little
one's got his first basketballtournament in Harrisburg, so
I'll miss it.
So Haley better.
(58:06):
Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (58:07):
Because if you
weren't coaching, you would be
at Christian's game.
SPEAKER_01 (58:09):
Oh, no, of course.
SPEAKER_02 (58:11):
So 1v1's next up.
After Zayden, by the time Zaydenreaches the NFL, 1v1 will be
crushing it in the area.
SPEAKER_01 (58:20):
Right.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (58:21):
If you don't know
who he is, ladies and gentlemen,
you're figuring out the biggerone.
SPEAKER_01 (58:24):
But let's hey Chris,
let's Chris, let's wrap this up.
Who we have a special shout outto today.

they don't yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (59:33):

SPEAKER_02 (59:34):

most of our followers are not
the ones that's on the otherside of the spectrum.
But ladies and gentlemen, go outthere and support these teams,
man.
Get the ball to Christian,Amari, Braylon.

Zaydan's going to the NFL.
He might go straight to the NFLfrom high school.
I don't know if they're going tochange the rules.
SPEAKER_01 (01:00:23):
He's going to be
he's going to be the first.
SPEAKER_02 (01:00:26):
He's only a junior,
ladies and gentlemen.
So I don't want to hear noexcuses.
I live in New York and I'mcoming to see him.
Y'all, y'all gotta figure itout.
SPEAKER_01 (01:00:32):

Y'all deserve your flowers fordoing something that look, I
(01:01:57):

But yeah, like I'm with you,Chris.
Nothing against the troops, youknow, what they do, they defend
our country, but it's a wholebit, like you said, a whole
(01:02:26):
bigger spectrum deeper into, butwe ain't gonna get into that
right now.
But do we have a guest?
Because we're gonna do our showuh next Wednesday because what

SPEAKER_01 (01:03:46):
