(00:24):
in their life.
They feel like they knowthere's something more for them.
So I'm going to share a littlebit about my own story and just explain
to you why at this time ofyear, do I feel the need to talk
about it?
And it's really because as wereflect on the last 10 months moving
into our 11th month, wereflect at the end of the year, as
we slow down for the holidaysand we step into next year, I start
(00:48):
thinking about why I'm doingwhat I'm doing now and why this work
is so important to me.
So that's what we're going to do.

joy, peace and purpose.
Right, so.
So I started the podcastsabout three years ago, and what I
want to share with you todayactually goes back.
(01:51):
It's sort of a pattern of whatI've experienced throughout my life.
And part of that pattern isthat I stepped into jobs that I was
pretty good at, but I neverfelt called into the work.
Right.
So they paid bills or it waskind of like one job led to the next.
(02:12):
I never felt like it's kind ofwhat God made me for.
And what that did to me thoughwas is it kept making me separate.
In other words, it wasn'ttruly me.
I was doing work, but it neverfelt like it's who I was meant to
be.
And so it was only a Coupleyears ago that I finally said no.
(02:33):
I just feel this calling forme to step into work that has real
meaning, it has impact that Ican help other women where I've been,
help them step into a moremeaningful life, step into how God
designed them and what hemaybe wants for their next seasons.
And so I'm just going to goback a little bit and share a couple
(02:54):
examples with you that youmight relate to.
The first is when I was young,I guess I was a, let's see, I don't
know, 10 to 13 and then 13 to 17.
I would write.
I'd have a journal and I wouldwrite little.
I would write poetry or maybewhat looked like song lyrics.
These are things that I nevershared with anyone.
(03:15):
I never did anything with them.
Because as shocking as thisis, this would have been for the
Internet.
I mean, maybe it started, butthose ages we didn't have, you know,
cell phones and computers.
Like every person did not havea computer or an iPad.
It wasn't until I went tocollege that we started getting email
addresses.
(03:36):
Like that was a normal thing.
So when I was growing upbefore that you weren't just going
to post it to a blog or ofcourse as a younger person, I probably
wouldn't have been anyways.
But the point is, so alreadythen I had an interest in writing.
I never really pursued thatpath because I thought you could
be someone that was reallygood at grammar.
(03:58):
I thought just liking writingwasn't enough to pursue writing at
that age.
So in college I didn't pursueemphasis on writing or getting a
degree in English because Ithought I'm not that great at grammar.
I'm like the run on sentencequeen person.
I can write a lot, but it'sgoing to need to be edited.
(04:19):
And so I went in and studiedpolitical science, international
relations, or pre law.
But the first thing was that Iwas holding myself back from something
that I was curious about, likewriting those words on the paper.
I just felt the desire to dothat also.
Like taking.
Actually not then.
I liked the idea of being aNational Geographic photographer.
(04:43):
I never pursued that.
I didn't even have a camera.
It wasn't like now where weall have cameras in our hands because
of our smartphones.
It wasn't like that.
But I always had this desireto do something like a National Geographic
photographer.
But I never pursued it.
All right, and then fast forward.
After I went to college andthen I went to graduate school.
(05:03):
I was already dating my now husband.
I moved back to my hometownand I took this first job and the
first job was actually for aspecialty foods company and I was
basically underneath the ownerof the company.
I was kind of like the secondin charge.
It was a fine job, even thoughthere was a lot of challenges with
the way the owner ran things.
(05:25):
But that was my stepping stoneinto my next job, which then is how
I got into more the technologyspace, working for an online news
site as their site and adoperations manager.
So I did that for six or sevenyears and then eventually I ended
up coming home.
I had three of young boys atthe time.
I'm sorry, I had two youngboys at the time I left.
(05:47):
And then when I left thatposition, I ended up getting pregnant
with my third or third son.
But I tell you all this justto say that then I started a.
An international website withmy mom called ziggityzoom.com which
was in the early education andfamily fund space.
So I did that.
So we still have those sitesup, people still come and get content
(06:09):
there and workbooks.
But what I found after doingthat for, for 10 years was I kept
feeling this pull to do workthat felt more aligned with how God
made me work, that felt morealigned with how people relate to
me.
I'm the listener, I'm theperson that people might come to
(06:32):
you for guidance or mentoring, that sort of thing, coaching.
And so but I did that in mypast careers.
I would do training, mentoring, coaching, you know, advising.
And so I just felt this pullto do that and then also to encourage
people in their faith as well.
And so that is how I steppedout of different things I was doing
(06:52):
and into podcasting and nowdoing coaching and some mentoring
and then creating life givingresources, workbooks and working
on some books.
And actually, I guess in 2018I took a position as marketing technology
director.
And I did that for a couple years.
(07:13):
But once again, after about ayear of doing it, I just felt that
pull to move into this area.
And so that's after thatposition is when I started doing
the podcasts and then doing, creating, you know, workbooks and
digital downloads and things.
But I tell you all this to sayat each step in my life, I was holding
(07:33):
myself back.
I was, I was afraid to befully seen.
I was hesitant to say how Ireally felt about certain things
I was scared to try, maybethings that seemed out of my comfort
zone.
And eventually I had to do thework to start saying what I really
(07:55):
wanted and what I wanted mylife to look like.
I needed to do the work, tosay, this is how God designed me.
And I know that I'm notsomebody that needs to do, you know,
go work.
I don't think anyone should.
80 hours a week, sitting at adesk all day.
Now I sit at my desk plenty todo podcasting and writing and working
with someone.
But I also go out in mybackyard and I spend time gardening
(08:18):
and I'll make food for myfamily, right?
All the things that so many ofus already do.
But then I can have a moreleisurely day.
I can spend.
Spend a little more time doingor be doing a Bible study or prayer
or going on a prayer, meditation, walk, being in nature.
And so for me, that type ofday, that type of schedule fits the
(08:41):
life that I'm trying to live better.
But it also allows me thespace to do the reading, to come
up with the ideas for thepodcast, for writing.
Because if my day was fullybooked every second and I didn't
have time for reading, prayer, research, I wouldn't be able to do
(09:01):
the things I'm doing.
And so I explain all this tosay to you.
I tried so many other people'splans, their road maps, you know,
like, oh, do it this way tobuild your business, your email list,
or, you know, just keep the course.
You know, keep doing whatyou've been doing because, you know,
you make money and you do fine there.
(09:23):
But I just didn't feel satisfied.
I felt unsettled.
And so in the last coupleyears, I've done the work to step
into what I truly wanted andto step towards the life that in
my future, I really want.
And now people might say, well, that seems selfish.
Well, it's not.
I'm trying to.
(09:43):
One, I'm tying my faith moreinto the work I'm doing.
And then, two, I'm trying tohelp other women stand up for themselves,
to speak up for themselves, torekindle that spark within them and
to really get clear on what itis they want.
And that also what it is.
What is it that's been put ontheir heart?
(10:05):
You know, where is God callingthem to work?
Or is he calling them to serve?
How is he calling them to show up?
And a lot of that is throughour own uniqueness.
When we actually do the workto chisel away all of those years
and experiences that kind ofallowed us to ignore how we were
(10:27):
truly made, how we're veryunique from the next person, we have
to chisel that back away.
Because for many of us,there's decades worth of extra barriers
or extra assumptions aboutourself or about how we have to be
in the world.
And so I created Reignite yourPassion Workbook to help myself and
(10:51):
now other people to reignitetheir passion, get clear on their
dreams, get clear on thegiftings God's given them.
And so it really is a call tostep into a life like that.
You literally feel good living now.
That doesn't mean that wewon't have hard things to do or we
(11:12):
shouldn't work hard, right?
I would even say work hard forthe glory of God, work hard for our
families, but working hard anddoing things we love or that we know
will have meaning and impactor leave a legacy, right?
A legacy of who we were andwhat we stood for, you know, and
so that's the importance of it.
(11:32):
And for anybody that doesn'tknow this, I actually work with women
and sometimes men to try tohelp them chisel away and sort of
uncover what is it that whereare they stuck and where do they
need help to figure out?
What do you need to do different?
What do you want to do differently?
(11:53):
Like what's behind your desireto change something in your life
and how can your life bedifferent if you actually decide
to take action?
And so that is how I help people.
And I actually have severalspots opened between now and the
end of the year to work withpeople doing just this to help them
figure out what they've losttouch with in their lives so that
(12:15):
they can have more passion and purpose.
I try to help them afterspending so much time focusing others
to rediscover what lights themup and then to create a life that
is exciting and it's full ofpassion and it fulfills you.
And I think it's how we thenmatch up those things with what God's
(12:37):
calling us into.
It is so much more fulfilling.
