(01:47):
Hey friends, we are going totalk about what is the growth that
you want to see in your lifeas we step in to spring.
Now, for many of us, we livein parts of the world where maybe
it's already gotten warmer tosome extent and the days are obviously
getting a bit longer for manyof us.
But actual spring starts thisweek with a spring equinox.
(02:10):
And with spring, as we'vealready been seeing, there are buds
on flowers and trees.
There are flowers bloomingright those early flowers we can
see the sign of life goingfrom the dead of winter when things
fell off or when thingshibernated and it seemed kind of
(02:32):
dreary.
And now we see buds and bloomsand greenery strength starting to
show again, light for longereach day.
It is just a glorious andlovely time of year.
And it's also the perfect timeof year to set some intentions for
the growth that you want inyour life.
(02:52):
January is a time of yearwhere somebody, some people make
intentions, resolutions, butit's actually such a dark time of
year that most of us actuallydon't feel that motivated to go out
in the cold, the dark, when wemay be getting off of work.
But now when winter turns tospring, when animals start mating,
(03:17):
when the flowers are comingout, when the days are longer, it's
actually a time when ourenergy goes up.
It's a time when we actuallycan be outside more and longer, whether
that's before or after if wework in a traditional job.
And so today's episode isgoing to be all about setting intentions
(03:38):
and what growth, what wayyou'd like to expand in your own
life in the coming months.
And I would actually say thatthis is a great time.
You know, these three monthsbetween the beginning of spring and
summer, if you want to saykind of a quarter, even though it
(03:58):
might not be the yearlyquarters, but it's the perfect time
because for many of us insummer, we may have vacations planned,
it may be busy becausefamily's coming to visit, whatever
it might be.
So this is the perfect lead upto summer to get some things done
and like I said, set someintentions, set some goals for ourselves
(04:21):
and to really be renewed and refreshed.
And so we're going to talkabout several ways that we can do
that and really use spring toour advantage.
Okay, so what I like to do isset three to four intentions for
my personal life, and then Ialso set two to three goals or intentions
(04:46):
for my business slash podcasts.
Okay, so here are some of thequestions that I ask.
And I have a whole list of questions.
So there's different timeswhere I pull different questions
for setting intentions or sortof what direction do I want to set
off on or do I want to changethis spring?
(05:07):
So here are some of thequestions I ask that you can grab
a pen and paper and writethese down, type them in your notes,
or you can think about theseand come up with your own question
to determine what it is thatyou want to focus on as we step into
these beautiful spring days.
First question I ask myselfis, where do I want to grow this
(05:30):
spring?
In other words, where do Iwant to stretch myself, learn more
about or expand my knowledge,or the time I spend on something?
Okay, so for that one, thethings that I've written down are
I want to grow in God's Word.
So I want to keep spendingmore time in scripture and devotionals,
(05:56):
and right now is actually Lent.
And so I'm trying to use thattime to listen to more podcasts,
sermons, and different appsthat just get me in God's word thinking
about spending the time in prayer.
Prayer.
So that's one of the ways thatI want to grow.
(06:18):
The second one is, you know, spring is the time that many of us
start gardening.
And maybe you're not a gardener.
Maybe you are.
This is the time that we startplanting seeds.
You know, we start seedlings,or maybe we even put some seeds outside.
So I'm.
I've prepped all my outdoorgarden beds.
I've started seedlings, but Iwant to become a better gardener.
(06:42):
Right.
And so I have some of thebasics down.
I've had an herb garden formany, many, many years, but vegetables
have been hot and cold for me.
Some vegetables I've donegreat with, but other ones tend to
have.
They're more challengingbecause there's different pests that
really like to come and attackthem or different issues that they
(07:03):
can have.
And so I have certainvegetables that I'd really like to
get better at this year, whether that's knowing how to keep
the pest away.
Right.
Obviously, in the acorn, I ama use organic methods or how to make
sure my plants don't get a rotor attacked by something.
So those are two of the areasthat I want to grow in.
(07:23):
I want to stretch myself.
And so I'm being intentionalbecause I'm making more time in the
morning to get in God's word,to have more quiet time to be in
prayer.
And then with the gardening, Iam making sure that I'm spending
a little bit of time workingin the gardens or caring for the
seedlings, and also juststarting to learn a little bit about
(07:48):
some of the challenges I hadlast year.
Okay, so that is the firstquestion I ask myself, and those
are some of the ways that Iwant to grow and expand and learn
more.
Okay.
The next question I ask myselfis, where do I want to commit more
time and effort in my life?
In other words, where do Iwant to put.
(08:09):
Where do I want to.
What do I want to highlightand make sure that I'm being intentional
in some area?
For me, one of the areas is movement.
And so if we're being honest,in the winter, some of us, we want
to kind of lounge more.
We.
You don't want to be outdoorsas much.
It's cold.
It's not as fun taking a walk, you know, because it's cold weather,
(08:32):
you have to bundle up.
And then also it's dark earlier.
And so all winter, I wasn'table to walk with any friends, except
for maybe on weekends becauseit's dark by the time most people
are getting off of work.
So movement, I'm upping mysteps per day or my mileage because
we we've hit spring.
So I did that end of February, beginning of March.
(08:54):
And so moving more, moving mybody more throughout the day and
getting outside more, gettingfresh air, having that quiet time
and just being in the presenceof God in all of his creations.
And so for me, I want tocommit to that.
And then the other things Iwant to commit to are I want to spend
(09:15):
more time writing because tobe honest, when I started the podcasts,
that became my priority.
And I haven't spent timewriting daily or even weekly.
So that is now on my radar for spring.
I also want to apply for more opportunities.
And when I say apply, I meanit's really submitting.
(09:36):
So reaching out to more peoplethat could be doing collaborations,
that could be submitting tospeak or go to a conference or get
on other podcasts, which ofcourse I've done.
But I haven't really made thata priority recently.
So for me, that is another intention.
Another one is people.
(09:56):
How can I be more loving tothe people in my life?
And how can I continue toincrease my grateful in my thankful
practice?
So I already have a gratitude practice.
The question is, how do I keepupping that?
How do I keep adding littlesmall things that help me remember
(10:20):
to be grateful, to bethankful, and to stay in that presence
of mind?
Okay?
And so those are the thingsthat I want to commit more time.
And then how can I be more loving?
So that's, how can I spendmore time with my older sons?
How can I spend more qualitytime with my husband?
How can I spend more timeshowing my friends how much they
(10:42):
mean to me?
And then how can I continue todo that for my community or maybe
really step into showing mycommunity more of that?
Because in some ways, there'sbeen a lot that's happened since
January.
We've had loss in our familyand in our neighborhood, and some
other things have gone on.
And so I've really notnurtured my email recently because
(11:03):
it's just been a lot.
And then for my business, Isay, what are my top two or three
goals in mine are get moresupport for my business, prune the
things that I need to stopdoing, and then focus more daily
on the things that are goingto have the most impact in other
(11:25):
people's lives.
And as we step into spring, Ihave two other questions that you
can write down and askyourself as well as you really think
about what you want yourspring months to look like, how you
want to live in those months.
And so the first question is,how do I want to feel?
(11:46):
In other words, how do I wantto feel in my home?
How do I want to feel in acertain room that could be in your
bedroom, you know, where it'sa place of, hopefully, solitude and
peace, where you can rest, youknow, and in whatever else you know,
it might be a place forintimacy and such and such.
Or it might be, how do I wantmy office to feel?
(12:06):
How do I want quiet place inmy house to feel?
You know, for time formeditation, for prayer, for just
letting yourself decompressand have time with quiet.
And so when you ask yourselfthat question, how do I want to feel
in some way?
So that could be, how do Iwant to feel when I put on outfits?
(12:28):
It could be, how do I want tofeel in a certain space?
How do I want to feel as faras my mindset, right?
Like, what keeps getting meamped up or frustrated or anxious
or irritated.
And as I find that I'm.
I'm dealing with some of thosethings, maybe what I want to write
down is I want to feel calmer.
I want to feel happier, I wantto feel more at peace.
(12:51):
And so you can do this forboth, you know, your mindset and
your thoughts, or you can doit for a physical space.
And if you write down I wantmy I want.
I want to feel that I have aquiet place to come home to.
You know, it can be a specialchair, it can be an area in your
bedroom, it can be a littledesk area.
(13:12):
But basically, then what youwant to do is, in the spring, how
can you freshen it up?
How can you maybe take somethings away to make it less cluttered
and to feel calm?
If it's the thoughts, then foryou, it would be, how can I feel
calmer?
Or how can I feel more at peace?
And then it's asking that question.
(13:33):
And it might be, what is itthat's causing that angst?
Or what is it that's causingyou that chaos in your life?
And is there something you can remove?
Is there a thought that youhave on repeat?
And can you test it?
Can you replace it withsomething that's more true?
Can you replace it with a new Perspective.
Okay, so that is a greatquestion to ask any time of year,
(13:57):
but I love it for springbecause it's just this time of renewal.
It's a time of new growth.
And so for me, it's.
It's really just this time forthose things, for growing and for
expanding ourselves.
Okay, the last question is,who am I becoming?
Or who do I want to become, you know, in my future?
(14:17):
But this is a perfect time tostep into in small ways that who
you're becoming.
So, for instance, I'verecently just gone in the last month,
I guess, shopping and gotten some.
A couple new tops, some newdresses, things like that.
And it's really because everytime I would go to put stuff on,
(14:37):
I just felt.
It felt drab or I didn't feelexcited to get dressed, or it felt
in some ways, I don't know, maybe outdated or maybe certain things
just didn't fit me well orthey didn't fit me right.
They didn't.
They didn't look like me.
They didn't either.
They were the wrong.
Some things are the wrongcolors for me.
(14:58):
Wrong shape, wrong length, because I'm not super tall person.
And so once again, who am I becoming?
Well, for me, I want to stepinto having more of a style that
I love that I don't have tothink about.
And so that doesn't mean I'mgoing to.
I'm currently not going to getrid of all the clothes that aren't
perfect for me.
But one day I do hope to havea closet like that.
(15:20):
So who am I becoming?
I want to be the person thathas outfits that I can grab and I
like how I look at.
Look in them.
No matter if I'm exactly thesize or, you know, shape I want to
be, you know.
Yes.
I'd love my arms to be alittle more.
Yeah, what do you call it?
Fit.
I'd like, you know, the armpitarea to be smoother, the tummy to
(15:43):
be smoother, whatever it is.
But, you know, I'm not becoming.
I want to be a person thatfeels good in the clothes she wears.
I don't want to have to thinkabout it or try on 20 outfits and
be frustrated with every oneof them.
So who am I becoming?
I'm becoming someone that'sputting more effort into her style.
Because if I do that now, whenI go to get ready for an event or
(16:05):
somewhere, I'm going, I feelgood in the doing it instead of waiting
until the last minute andthinking, none of this is working.
Who else am I becoming.
I'm becoming the person thatshows up in the room.
I'm showing up in more rooms.
I am going to be the personthat takes more trips this year.
(16:27):
So guess what I'm doing?
I'm figuring out when thosethings are going to happen.
What events do I want to be inthe room at?
I am figuring out, who else doI want to have on the podcast?
Am I making bold asks?
I want to become the personthat asks for the bigger names to
come on the podcasts.
(16:47):
So that is who I'm becoming.
But if I know who I want tobecome, I can start taking action
to become that person.
In other words, just becauseof what I did today or I did yesterday
or last year doesn't define, right, how we're going to be tomorrow,
next week, or next year.
But we have to be intentionalabout who do we want to become?
(17:09):
If you want to becomehealthier, you don't get healthier
by staying the same as youwere if you weren't healthy.
In other words, if you want tobe healthier, you want to be able
to be stronger and feel goodin what you wear, but also know that
your health numbers are good, then you need to start acting like
(17:29):
a healthy person, right?
So make better choices with, you know, move a little more, eat
a little, make a few betterfood choices every day, forego the
extra dessert on occasion, that sort of thing.
Also, I want to become theperson that always has beautiful
(17:50):
things around me.
And for me, one of thosethings is flowers.
So this year, I'm planting alot more flowers in my garden beds
or pots so that I can clipsome of those and bring them inside.
Also, I am saying yes tomyself to buy flowers when I'm at
the store most every week, toput in my kitchen and in my front
(18:11):
room and sometimes in myoffice, because they make me happy.
The colors, the smell, theyjust make the spaces I'm in regularly
more inviting and more beautiful.
And so who I'm becoming issomebody that says yes to spending
a little bit of more money onthe things I enjoy that make me happy
when I see them.
(18:32):
Okay, so that's the other thing.
So as we step into spring,I've given you a handful of questions
to really reflect and think about.
What do you want to use spring?
What do you want to do in this season?
Because it is a beautiful timeof year.
Everything is blooming, andwhy wouldn't you want to bloom as
(18:54):
well?
And so that's it for today.
There'll be definitely a lotmore episodes coming out this year
after my several month hiatusand my hiatus was longer than expected.

and sicker and I had plannedto release in January, but he ended
(19:15):
up passing away in the verybeginning of February.
And so we've really beenwalking through his illness and then
his loss and then we've hadsome loss friend in the neighborhood
and some other things going on.
And so with running anotherpodcast and doing other projects,
