SPEAKER_00 (00:03):
Now listen very carefully.
A good martial artist does notbecome tense but ready.
Essentially, at this point, thefight is over.
So you pretty much flow with thegoal.
Who is worthy to be trusted withthe secret to limitless power?

(00:27):
I'm ready.
Accepting limitations in BJJ.
Are you just too old andtherefore you've just got to
accept that?
Or are you buying into a limitedmindset and you're just buying
snake oil because the personyou're listening to is telling

(00:47):
you you need to limit yourselfbecause that is as far as they
go.
Ooh, snake oil.

SPEAKER_01 (00:52):
Ooh.
Someone got the fucking someonecaused JT to have a look.

SPEAKER_00 (00:56):
I got I got fucking pissed off, Joe.
You got a bone to pick.
Mate, a Chris bones to pick, actually.
Mate, look, I think this isreally important to understand
that, you know, we've talkedabout getting older in jujitsu.
And we all accept taking acertain amount of physical
damage is part of jujitsu.
But obviously what we advocatefor is, you know, looking after

(01:18):
your rig and maintaininglongevity and doing the right
thing by yourself.
And we know the injury is partof the game and it's undeniable,
but what you do about it, that'sreally what determines
longevity.
Same thing we were saying, youknow, people in life, you meet
people who haven't looked afterthemselves and you meet them,
you think, fuck, they look likethey're 50.

(01:39):
You find out they're 30 yearsold.

SPEAKER_01 (01:40):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_00 (01:40):
They've just aged themselves through their
approach to life.
This is true of jujitsu.
You meet people who are reallygood with the longevity and
nutrition, you're like, wow, they they've got really good
energy and they go really well.
So this is what happened, folks.
I saw a post, and I believe itwas actually a paid advert
advice advertisement forChristmas advertisement, thank

(02:01):
you.
Sent sent uh old cunt.
Well, it's not even that, it'sjust my brain's not working.
No, so I saw this advertisementand it was Chris Burns, aka
Chris Bones, who I I've knownfor many years, right?
He's uh he's American?
He's American, but he lived inAustralia for a long time and he
moved back there.
We trained together at PeterDebian back in the day.

(02:24):
Right on, right?
So I've known him since I was awhite belt and get on well with
him.
I don't agree with all the stuffhe talks about in jiu-jitsu, but
he has a very different approachto jujitsu.
This is what I'm not happyabout, folks.
This is what I cannot accept, orthe thing I feel is misleading,
and that's why you shouldn't buyinto the fucking bullshit.

(02:48):
His statement was you're you'reover 40.
You do jujitsu, your body'sfucked up, and all these young
athletic guys are beating youup.
So you need to do old manjujitsu.
And I've got the efficienttechnique way where you don't
have to use strength, you don'thave to use power, so that you
can actually do jujitsu in asustainable way and just accept

(03:09):
your body's fucked, and now youjust do jujitsu differently and
don't fix your problems, justbuy my DVD, subscribe to my
course, don't get stronger, don't get more athletic, because
I don't know how to do that.
Just accept limitation and dojujitsu like me, like a fucking
limited cunt.
That's what it was, and I waslike, get the fuck out of here,

(03:29):
bro.
Like I'm not gonna ask ChrisBones' advice on how to get
strong and fit because he's not.
But what he's doing here is he'susing this principle of
efficiency through his trainingunder Hickson and traditional
like jujitsu approach to saythat oh you don't don't fix your
shit.

(03:49):
You're old, you're fucked now.
So you need to do jujitsudifferently.
Now, admittedly, if you haveinjuries, you've got to work
around them.
I understand that.
And we we just talked about, youknow, like you're not
necessarily gonna try and beAndrew Tackett when you're 50
years old.
Fair enough.
But to negate this idea, like tototally throw out that you could

(04:11):
improve physically or you couldget more flexible or you could
look after your body, and that'sthe reason why you got to pay
this guy money to learn jujitsuis fucking bullshit.
It is as bullshit as anacondaknee braces, my friends.
Just because you pay the moneyand you put it on doesn't mean
it's fucking good for you.
It means you're avoiding thefucking problem, right?
Just looking at something and belike, I got a sore knee, I guess

(04:33):
I better ignore it.
No, this is not the answer.
And this is why you need to notbuy into the bullshit.
There is so many nonsense thingsout there in jujitsu.
This one I feel is particularlyinsidious because it's a
mindset.
It's telling you to like limityour expectations of yourself.
It's a fucking psyop.
It's a psyop.
That's exactly right, Joe.

(04:54):
You are getting psyoped by ChrisBones, and I got a problem with
it, man.
I mean, yeah, the god.
So he says explicitly, like, accept your limitations.
No, he says you're older, so nowyou do different jujitsu because
your body's fucked.
He doesn't say anything aboutfixing your body because he
doesn't know how.
Like, he's like, no, you justneed to pay me specific money to
learn limited jujitsu.
No, I think you get along withthat you by your damn self.

(05:16):
You don't need to listen toChris Bones.
But I mean, like, it's like manythings, right?
Like, it's like those um, youmay have seen the the elastic
bands, the kind of stretch bandsthat the wrestlers use.
You see it?
Like, um, I I I always reportthem for fraud as soon as I get
an ad for those.
I'm always like those ones,yeah.
They and they they'll do these, like judo judo folks use them.

(05:37):
Uh Elena Craver, or sorry,Helena Craver did a thing where
she was doing guard stuff withit, doing forward rolls and
being like, this is my idealprep.
Yeah.
Like, no, that's bullshit.
Like, yes, someone might bereally great at wrestling, and
so you see them doing that.
That's not what made them great.
You know, it's this umcorrelation causation thing.

(05:58):
It's just like, no, you'repaying a bunch of money for a
product you will not useproperly, which will not make
you better.
And I it just absolutely grindsmy fucking gears, Joe, because
we're only in jujitsu for ashort time, and really, if
something is misleading and theytake your money, that's
bullshit.
And I gotta take a stand.

SPEAKER_01 (06:19):
I gotta stand on business.
You gotta stand on business.
Well, to play devil's advocatehere.
Please, Joe.
Could you know, you said ityourself just now, we're only in
it for a short amount of time.
Could, you know, is what Chrisputting forward something that
could extend that lifespan forsomeone?
There are a bunch of choices outthere for your strength and
mobility training.

(06:39):
And when it comes to choosing aprogram, it's really hard to
sift through what's good andwhat's not.
One thing I can guarantee you isthat the bulletproof for BJJ app
is exactly what you need as abusy grappler who wants to
prioritize time on the mats, which means you're not spending
hours upon hours in the gym eachweek, but you also want the
biggest returns in terms of yourperformance on the mats and also

(07:01):
your recovery off.
The bulletproof for BJJ app hasyou covered.
You can take a two-week freetrial right now.
And if you go beyond that andyou commit to a subscription and
you get a few weeks in, yourealize, you know what, I don't
love this.
We give you a 100% money-backguarantee.
So nothing to wait for.
Jump into the two-week freetrial right now.
Go to the app store, searchBulletproof for BJJ, and we'll

(07:22):
see you on the inside.
Go go elaborate.
Like well, if he's saying, like, hey, you got limitations, you
got to play jujitsu differently, and here's how I'm gonna teach
you how.
Is there something in that thatis life prolonging for people in
the game?
Like while while it'spotentially, yes, while it could
be discounting.

SPEAKER_00 (07:42):
You could you could say yes, but I think we're all
it's it's patently aware, we'reall patently aware that if you
if your knees don't bendproperly or your shoulder
doesn't move right, you have tochange the way you do jujitsu.
Chris Bones doesn't have asecret.
Now, yeah, he he he he teachesjujitsu a certain way and he
says it's more efficient, A, B,and C, and yeah, fine.

(08:03):
I mean, if you want to spendthat money and find out, that's
okay.
But what he's making an argumentfor is not addressing your
problems.
Right.
It's not addressing the physicallimitation, not fighting the
aging process, not doing good, healthy things for yourself.
Just pay me money to learn howto do limited jujitsu.

(08:24):
That's fucking ridiculous.
That is one of the mostridiculous things I've ever
heard.
That's why I'm mad.
I was actually calm, Joe.
Oh, wow.
I've been on a real nice calmtip lately.

SPEAKER_01 (08:32):
Yeah, it's been a pretty good day in the terms of
the city.

SPEAKER_00 (08:34):
I've been out in California, I've been I've been
dropping fucking honey stick lsdwith the top-level San
Franciscan rich people.
Oh wow.
I've been taking my my ecstasyuh edibles with my mixed with
psilocybin.
I've been oh wow, I've beenmeditating on a on a
mountaintop.
Trumpian US really sounds like afun place to be.
Bro, it's I tell you, I've I hada mental utopia.

(08:56):
I was chilling until I looked atInstagram.
He's like, I actually slept forthe first time.
Mate, and then I looked atInstagram, I was like, what?
Okay.
I just turned into little John, but like angry.
And here's the thing because alot of what uh gets put out
there, when you see someonewho's an expert, you you go, oh

(09:18):
well, what they're saying mustbe true because they were right
about something else.

SPEAKER_01 (09:21):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_00 (09:21):
And I don't, I don't think we're necessarily right
about everything.
We might just be a couple ofthings we're we're correct on.
But the the challenge with thisis we like to just see someone
as a uh a bastion of truth, andI trust that person so
everything they say is true.
And I I don't think that's thecase.
And especially if someone istalking misinformation, whether

(09:44):
it's fucking knee braces or it'sneo bands or whatever the
bullshit is, or it's limitingyour jujitsu.
At the end of the day, thereally important thing is to
identify this person isincentivized or is trying to
encourage me to do somethingbecause it makes that person
money.
Is that good for me?
And and you've got to see ifthat's good or not.

(10:05):
And what I'm saying here is justlimiting your jiu-jitsu because
you've got physical problems isnot the way.
So, speaking to your point aboutthe longevity piece, the only
way that we have longevity inlife, separate of jujitsu, we've
got to lift weights, we gotta,we gotta eat well, we've got to
get our sleep, we've got to do anumber of things to look after
our bodies.
And they're showing there's moreand more research to indicate

(10:27):
that you can get fitter andstronger no matter what age you
are, and this is what keeps youyoung.
Jiu-jitsu does not keep youyoung, unfortunately.
It keeps you good for your goodfor your spirit, but not
necessarily good for the body.
Yeah, and I think this is thething we've got to get to that,
yeah, we do want to stay in thegame and we we love jujitsu
because it it means so much tous, but the cost is that we need

(10:48):
to look after our bodies and andtrying to like spend money
somewhere else, it it's kind ofyou know, this is this is an
illusion of sorts.
And uh give giving giving peoplepermission to not look after
themselves like that's the rightthing to do, is uh you can't
stand by that.
It's a charlatan's game, it's uhit's pure fuckery, and I'm

(11:11):
calling it out.
So, yeah, if you know ChrisBones, please share this with
him because I got a bone topick.
Believe that.
