In this episode of Business Energetics, I’m calling you out (in the most loving way possible). 💛 If you’ve been avoiding the camera, hiding behind Canva posts, or telling yourself you’re “just not ready,” this one’s for you.

I get it. Showing up on video can feel uncomfortable, awkward, and downright terrifying. But here’s the truth: hiding from the camera is costing you visibility, credibility, and actual paying clients.

In this conversation, I’m breaking down the real reasons why you’re not showing up, how it’s affecting your business growth, and what to do to finally overcome that fear.

In this episode, I cover:

  • Why showing your face is the #1 visibility hack of 2025
  • The mindset traps keeping you stuck in the shadows
  • How to create trust and connection faster with video

Whether you're a coach, a consultant, or a content creator and if you're serious about growing your brand and making more sales, it’s time to step out of hiding.

🎧 Let’s talk visibility, energy, and being seen, because your clients can’t find you if you’re hiding.

Welcome to Business Energetics.
All right, today's episode isabout why hiding from the camera

(00:45):
is actually costing you clients, and if you clicked on this,
it's because you're ready forthe heat.
I am here with you.
Okay, I've been showing myselfup online for over 10 years now,
but I still remember how it waswhen I first got started.

(01:05):
It is intimidating.
It's kind of like a weird stagefright that we experience or
it's a uncomfortability that wedon't want to surmount because
it feels like we can go withoutfor a little bit and that's
totally fine.
A lot of businesses they usesomebody from their team to show
up online and to kind of be theface and the voice of the

(01:28):
company.
But if you're a business ownerand you have a limited team, or
you are starting to negotiatecontracts with VCs or you're
negotiating, maybe, some PR, tvappearances and things like that
, you may want to highlyconsider using yourself or your
co-CEOs to actually show up andbe the face of the company.

(01:52):
Why?
It comes down to the coreprinciples, which is we want to
do business with people we know, like and trust, and there is no
affiliation or personal link toa business unless you're like,
for example, lush, that is, anadvocate for animal rights and a

(02:15):
bunch of other causes like the, what they did recently, which
is they closed down all theirstores for an entire day, making
them get a 350,000 dollars inloss, just to showcase their
engagement towards Palestine.
So this is a brand that peoplecan get behind and I don't know

(02:35):
about you, but I have no ideawho the founder or the CEO is of
this company.
But if you're, you're buildinga business right now that hasn't
been in business for the past10, 20 years or doesn't have the
visibility that, for example,lush has.
It is a foolproof method to usesomeone from your team or

(02:57):
yourself to get in front of thecamera to kind of humanize your
brand, and that can build thetrust very, very fast with
consumers when they feel likethere is actually a human being
running this and makingdecisions and listening to their
consumers.
Especially if you're doing b2c,this is soon becoming the norm.

(03:18):
So we saw these, these um,these ways of doing business
when we first looked at appleand amazon and all the things,
but I want you to bring.
I want to bring you to today'sum, today's business world,
which is, for example, if youlook at athletic wear, if you're

(03:39):
looking at alpha elite, you canknow that it's Christian Guzman
that's behind that.
You have Buffbunny, which isHeidi Summers.
You have Warner Active, withtheir CEO, chris Cisela, which
is just doing an amazing jobonline.
I'm going to give you anotherexample Oddmuse, which last year

(04:02):
, they have generated over 22.5million pounds.
This is a brand that waslaunched in 2020 by their CEO.
I believe her name was Amy.
So Amy built her brand and herpersonal brand at the same time,
using the power of TikTok andsocial media during the years of

(04:24):
2020 and everything that wenton, and because of that and
showcasing her journey as theentrepreneur behind the brand,
she was able to scale veryquickly and build a connection
with her audience, who wanted tosee her thrive and win and was
buying because they feel likethey cared about her and her

(04:44):
brand.
Win and was buying because theyfeel like they cared about her
and her brand.
So you can scale much fasterwhen you put a face behind your
brand.
If you're in the manifestationworld, you may know of melanie
ann layer, who for years wasacting as a secret coach.
She was called the invisiblecoach and she didn't want to

(05:06):
show up before the camera onlineso she would give one-on-one
consultations and coachingservices behind the scenes, like
she wasn't even online, didn'thave a website or anything, and
she was working solely onreferrals.
Well, in the past five years ofher actually showing up online
and when I'm saying showing up,I mean she was going live daily

(05:28):
at one point and then weekly, and she kept showing up
consistently she has built a$100 million brand with a fairly
small team.
She scaled very, very fast, especially knowing where in what
region of Quebec, canada, shelives in.
It is a small section of theworld, and so she was able to do

(05:52):
it without buying all theseoffices or going through like
the original quote-unquoteentrepreneur way that we do in
Canada, and so it's very, veryimpressive.
When you start to put yourselfbehind your brand now, it can
also have the reverse effect ifyou don't have a likable

(06:12):
personality.
I mean, let's be honest, let'slook at what happened to
American Apparel, where the CEOwent completely berserk and I
believe he stepped outside, readoutside naked or something,
cursing the world in the streets, and then that went viral.
But they built their entirebrand on doing odd stuff like

(06:36):
this.
So it could have been used foranother expansion of the brand,
but this is really where, um, ifI remember correctly, there was
a line in the sand of okay, this brand is going down, the
ceo has gone crazy and we don'tthink there's a coming back from
there.
So there is a good side, majoritarily, and there is also

(06:58):
a be careful side to not letyour emotions overtake your
personal brand, and then thatbeing a reflection of the
stability of your brand.
So, but coming back to our mainpoint, the reason why we feel
like we don't want to show uponline is either the fear of

(07:19):
success or the fear of beingjudged.
Now, if you're an entrepreneurright now I'm gonna shut this
down for you you will be judged.
Whether you do it or not, youwill be judged.
If you do it right, you will bejudged.
If you do it wrong, you will bejudged.
You have decided to take a paththat is unforeseen.

(07:40):
You have decided to go to thepath that's less traveled.
You're already an odd person.
You're already not a sheep, youare an outsider.
You are this strangealien-esque persona that doesn't
believe in having a job and astable future.

(08:01):
You decided to take the otherpath, so embrace it.
Okay, let's just like take asecond, right here, right now,
to ground ourselves and embracethe fact that you are abnormal
and that we are this rarespecies of people that decided
to go against the grain.

(08:21):
I mean, if you think about it,you are groomed through
television, through your family, through culture, through your
environment, through TV, throughthe news, through every single
aspect of your life has beencarved so that you go to school,
you graduate and you get a highpaying job or a good paying job

(08:45):
, you get your pension and youretire at 65.
This is what we have beentaught our entire lives.
And then, for some weird reason, on a Tuesday morning, somebody
pissed you off at your old joband I'm talking about myself and
you just decided enough isenough f this.

(09:07):
I'm going my own way and I'mdoing my own thing and I believe
in this thing that I cannottouch, feel or taste so much
that I'm willing to burneverything that I have going on
right now, to take a leap offate and to trust that life will

(09:28):
catch me.
And sometimes we hit a fewbranches going.
But then we get back up and youknow what they say.
You know you are crazy until itworks.
And then everybody asks youlike what know?
You are crazy until it works.
And then everybody asks youlike what kind of genius are you
?
Like, how did you think of allthis stuff?
So if you were crazy and wildand free enough to do that I

(09:55):
mean, getting behind a cellphone is nothing at this point
You've done the hard work, likepatch yourself in the back, like
you've got it, you've done thework.
You're good.
So, knowing that, moving on to,how do we even get started
tackling this thing?
Because the more you look at itand the bigger it gets.

(10:16):
It's kind of like this mountainperspective of it's a small
thing, but the more you look atit and the more you look at
angles of it, it becomes biggerand bigger and bigger and bigger
in your perspective.
And I know this because everysingle time that I personally
stop making content, it alwaysfeels like a chore.

(10:38):
I'll give you an example I'mnot even behind a camera right
now because I choose to use thisaudio, this audio platform, but
I haven't posted in months, andthe reason why is because I
wanted to have the perfect setupwith the perfect lighting, and
I wanted to use the video andthe audio so that I could make

(10:59):
YouTube videos out of my videosand then audio would go to
podcasts and then I would cutclips out of it and that would
become like my content on socialmedia.
And this morning I woke up andI said F this, f this.
Why?
Because I made it bigger thanit needs to be, and if I

(11:19):
wouldn't have made that decisionright now, this episode
wouldn't be out, because I wouldstill be trying to figure out
what the perfect like backgrounddecor would be.
And there is one thing that Ilearned on my perfectionistic
journey and by coaching peoplethat are way further than me in
life.
I'm talking about.
I'm coaching people that areway further than me in life.

(11:40):
I'm talking about.
I'm coaching people that aremulti, multimillionaires, okay,
and I'm not there yet.
I'm getting there, I'm going toget there and surmount this,
but at the time that I wascoaching these people.
I was not a multimillionaireand for some reason they came to
me, and that is because andthat you have the same thing

(12:02):
inside of you.
You have, you and I.
We have amazing qualities, amazing perspectives, amazing
ways of doing things, and thisis a skill that is seeked from
our clients.
And if you hide behind yourcomputer, hide behind your work,

(12:24):
and you don't get out there andtell the world, hey, I'm the
person you're looking for.
You don't put yourself on thatstage, ok, look at it like when
you put yourself in front of acamera, you are actually getting
a higher perspective so thatmore people can see you.

(12:45):
It's kind of like everybody'sliving in the city, everybody's
at the same level, and there'sbuilding hiding you.
And then you decide I'm goingto get on top of that building
and I'm going to shout and thepeople are going to look at me
and some people are going tolove what I'm saying and some
people are going to hate whatI'm saying, and some people are
going to keep walking whereverthey were walking, but some

(13:14):
people will stay and some peoplewill want to get a chair,
listen to me, or buy whateverI'm selling from the rooftop.
This is what you're doing byputting yourself in front of the
camera or behind a mic OK, whenI'm talking about the camera, I

(13:36):
mean any module that will beable to expand your voice and
image and and visibility.
You are deciding to putyourself at a vantage point
where people more people thatare aligned with your message
and your offering are able tosee, feel and and like what
they're seeing and enter yourworld and spend with you.
But if you stay behind behind awall, behind a website, behind a

(13:57):
storefront, you are limitingyour access to helping more
people, and that is a shame, because I can think of so many
people that on my personaljourney they were there and

(14:17):
these people, I would look atthem on Facebook live videos
when it was popping off.
They were talking about making10K a month and back then I
wasn't even making like maybe 2Ka month and I was like wow, but
not with my business, with myjob, like my business was barely
maybe 2k a month.
And I was like wow, but notwith my business, with my job,

(14:38):
like my business was barelymaking a hundred dollars a month
.
And I was like wow, they'retalking about 10k a month.
And I remember I would spendhours and hours listening to
them, getting into theirfreebies, getting into their
communities, getting to theirworld, buying their courses,
buying their coaching becausesome somehow watching them and
experiencing them doing thatgave me permission to do it for
myself.

(14:58):
Now I have surpassed thesenumbers and knock on wood like
thank God, I am so grateful, butit was because I saw people put
themselves out there and thatgave me permission to have
access to that reality.
And that is also why sometimesI will post my wins.

(15:19):
Sometimes, like a lot of times,I will post my wins on
Instagram and on TikTok andFacebook and stuff like that,
and sometimes I still feel likea little bit of a cringe doing
that, like ew, like am Iactually bragging?
But then I remember the Claudiayears ago that was looking for
permission to be the versionthat she is today and I remember

(15:45):
looking at these people andthen that gives me permission to
share these wins.
Because what if, what if?
Somebody is living their liferight now and they're scrolling
by and they're either listeningto this podcast or listening to
one of my videos or comingacross one of my freebies or
courses and they're like this, give them permission to actually

(16:08):
follow their dreams and ask formore demand, more out of life.
This gave them permission, thatone single piece of content,
what I showed my face, shared myvoice or just made a video, and
that actually happened.
I want to talk about the storyof one of my amazing clients,

(16:31):
and she was a stay-at-home mom.
She went out of a, you know, asingle mom.
She was out of a relationshipwith somebody.
I don't know the details, butshe was raising her child alone
and when she first came into mycourses and my universe, she

(16:54):
started by seeing videos and Iwas probably referred by
somebody else that did my, mytrainings and then shared it
with her and she entered myworld and I see her.
She's still liking my things,we have conversations and I

(17:17):
still cheer her on on herjourney.
And this woman came in.
She was trying to get more outof life.
She came from a culturalbackground where it was a very
strict world, a very strict wayof being raised, and now she was
a single mom and she had tofend for herself in a world of

(17:38):
judgment and I saw this womanbloom in front of my eyes.
For the eight months that weworked together, this woman went
from being a singlestay-at-home mom working a phone
job with people who had norespect for her or her family

(18:02):
because they would.
They would shame her forworking from home when her child
was at home.
It was disgusting.
They would give her impossiblehours, low pay, just really bad,
bad, bad circumstances.
And she was dreaming oftraveling.
She was dreaming of having abetter life and she implemented

(18:24):
what she learned into ourcertification.
She was able to get her firstdeals, get inquiries for her
other business, and I remembercoming across one of her first
travels with her child and I seeher on the beach with a drink
and I'm like you did this, youdid this, you did this and I

(18:50):
have chills.
The happiness of being somebodythat's part of someone else's
story, regardless of if she'sgoing to continue on in my world
or not.
Just knowing that I was thatstepping stone and my courses
were that, you know, ignitionfor all of the greatness that

(19:13):
was already inside of her butjust needed to have some way of
being expressed, was sorewarding for someone else.
I don't care if you're sellingproducts.
If you're selling, maybe you'reselling active wear, maybe

(19:33):
you're selling oils, maybe youare in the insurance world,
maybe you're a real estate agentand you feel like you know I'm
just a transaction.
No, you're not.
Maybe you're helping someonefinding their dream home where
they're going to raise theirfamily, raise their children.
Maybe you are a coach andyou're going to say one thing

(19:59):
that's going to help yourclients strive and believe in
themselves and now they're goingto go ahead and build a legacy
for their family Generations tocome.
You have that inside of you.
If you're listening to this, Iknow you do, because we are
attracting and attracted tothings that speak to our soul.

(20:24):

sucks, but you can.
You can put an end to it.
But sometimes we're in awavelength when we attract flow
