Nous sommes avec l'un des plus célèbres agriculteurs du monde : Jean-Martin Fortier. En 20 ans, il a tout simplement révolutionné l’agriculture biologique, et plus précisément le maraîchage biologique. Pour co-animer cet épisode de Business of Bouffe, Philibert est accompagné de Samuel Nahon, le co-fondateur de Terroirs d'Avenir.
À travers cet épisode, nous cherchons à mieux comprendre le phénomène Jean-Martin Fortier. Qui est ce jeune maraîcher québécois hyper-influent qui bouscule les codes de l'agriculture moderne et inspire aujourd'hui des milliers d'agriculteurs et néo-paysans à travers la planète ?
Dans un premier temps, on revient évidemment sur le parcours de Jean-Martin, de ses premières expériences dans des fermes biologiques aux États-Unis et au Mexique, à la création de sa propre ferme au Canada : "Les Jardins de la Grelinette". C'est là qu'il expérimente et remet au goût du jour les méthodes de l'agriculture biologique intensive. Il fait ainsi la démonstration qu’un autre modèle de production agricole est possible : celui des micro-fermes productives et rentables.
On découvre ensuite que Jean-Martin est plus qu'un maraîcher engagé. Il est un entrepreneur visionnaire, respecté et influent. Avec son livre best-seller "Le Jardinier-Maraîcher", vendu à plus de 250 000 exemplaires et traduit en 10 langues, ses émissions à la télévision au Canada, et son programme de formation en ligne, Jean-Matin Fortier porte son message à travers la planète. Il est aujourd'hui un acteur clé de la transition agricole.
