Break barriers, build bridgesand become the best version of
yourself.
Welcome to season three.
Oh my gosh, I'm so superexcited because I've had a lot
of like I don't know ah-has, Ishould say, in the last year
between some of the differentcoaches that I've had, and I
(01:48):
really, really, really I knowI've talked about my story, my
journey, how everything cameabout, how I ended up back in
breast cancer, how I ended upback in real estate to really,
really dive into helping morebreast cancer survivors.
Now you're probably saying howon earth is that happening?
How are you doing real estateand breast cancer?
And like, how do they, you know, work with one another?
Well, truth be told, how thatworks hand in hand is because I
(02:14):
literally found my purpose atthe intersection of passion and
pain, and for me to be able tohost this podcast is just a
platform for me to leverage tobe able to help other survivors.
It gives them a platform totell their story.
It gives a platform for othercaregivers and other healthcare
professionals to share their youknow ins and outs of the breast
cancer journey as well, butalso through every transaction
(02:36):
that I do, I actually give backto breast cancer.
And breast cancer is just adiagnosis.
It's not, it's not youridentity, it's not anything
other than it's a diagnosis, andwhat you do with that is up to
you.
And for me personally, I foundthat as a challenge to okay,
this is a way for me to, youknow, create a better version of
myself, and this this seasonand season three, because I know
(02:59):
I've spent a lot of time justreally only discussing like
other thrivers and their andtheir stories and like what
they're doing to give back aswell.
But I wanted to kind ofencompass some more, like like
business tips and like becausethose actually did help me, like
create a better version of meand like get back into why I
(03:19):
feel like my purpose is so muchbigger and why I want to be able
to, you know, kind of sharethose with you and different
things that I've learned.
So, with that being said, Ididn't make sure I wrote some
notes because, you know, I cantend to squirrele out a little
bit.
So there's a few other podcaststhat I like to listen to as well
.
Truth be told, I don't evenlike to listen to my own voice,
(03:39):
so I don't listen to my podcaston a regular basis.
I know that probably soundsreally weird, right?
I love listening to businesspodcasts and I love listening to
, like, self development thingslike that.
I love Mel Robbins, love her,and I'm so super excited because
she is going to be one of ourspeakers at our family reunion
(04:00):
on Vegas next month, so I'mreally excited about that.
Okay, so I wanted to share withyou some things that I've
learned on another podcast thatI listened to, which is the
Millionaire Real Estate Agent.
It's also a great book and youdon't necessarily have to be a
realtor.
It's really just about life and, you know, creating a bigger
purpose for yourself, right?
(04:20):
And Gary Keller is like aphenomenal human being, like his
thoughts is personal andbusiness and everything is like
really, really, really awesome.
So I wanted to share somethings from an episode that I
thought would be fantastic toshare with you, because it's the
beginning of the year.
And what do we do at thebeginning of the year?
Well, we always talk aboutgoals and resolutions and all of
(04:41):
those things.
Fun fact, I don't believe inresolutions, I do believe in
goal setting and I do believe ingoal setting on a higher level,
not just for the week, themonth, the year.
And we're going to kind of talkabout that in this episode
because it's going to bereflecting on you and your
bigger goals and your bigger, bigger, wise.
And in addition to that, Iactually had a session with a
(05:06):
coach.
His name is Jeff Glover.
He's out of Michigan, he, too,is a realtor, has a big team,
but he came and spoke at our ALCretreat today, which is Agent
Leadership Council, which I washonored and blessed to be asked
to be on that this year.
We're our market center, so I'mreally excited about that and
I'm always looking for ways tojust grow and be a better leader
(05:29):
, a better person, and find outways that I can help other
people become that as well.
So first let me dive into acouple of things.
Being that it's the new yearlet's talk about Gary Keller has
10 questions that he believeseveryone should ask themselves
at the end of the year, beginning of the new year,
whatever that may be, and Iwanted to share those with you
(05:51):
because I thought they werereally cool.
So they're not necessarily myquestions per se, but they do
pertain to a lot of my thoughtprocess and I just kind of
wanted to tie it into who we areright, like who we are as a
person.
So fun fact if you did not knowmost people who set goals, you
(06:14):
know, I want to lose weight, Iwant to get to the gym, I want
to eat healthier.
La, la, la, la, la.
Most of those goals areabandoned by March.
How's that for a fun fact.
That's actually like 60 to 90days, right?
So they do say it takes 90 daysto create a habit, anyway, so
let's think bigger aboutourselves and our lives and our
(06:34):
goals, all right.
So if we're going to be thinkingbigger about ourselves, instead
of thinking about a goal forthe year, let's think about a
vision, a goal that you have foryourself for, like, the next 30
years, whether that's going tobe personal, spiritual,
relationships, business, whatever that's going to be.
Let's look at that.
Like.
What does that look like in 30years.
And if you're like me andyou're like I'm 51, I don't know
(06:56):
what it's going to look like in30 years, well, you know what?
Then cut it to 20, whatever.
However old you are, figure itout.
Like I already am at this pointI'm like I'm on the second half
of my life, like how is thisgoing to look?
But I do think I'll be aroundin another 30 years, so I can
plan that.
So that means I'll be 81.
And where can I see myself?
Well, my dad is 81 right nowand he's a freaking rock star.
(07:19):
He's riding his bike, he'straveling all over the world, he
loves to go camping and hikingand everything.
So I got this, so I'm going tohave a kajin still, anyway.
So what are those goals?
Let's think about likelong-term alignment, like where
do you see yourself in 30 years?
Like, what will you be doing?
What will you look like?
What will you be, you know?
(07:39):
Will you be vacationing?
Will you be retired?
Will you still be?
You know what will that be?
Will you still be working atthe same job that you're
currently working at, or willyou have branched off and
started your own business, became an entrepreneur, which I
really thrive for all of you.
I think it's fantastic.
It's you know what?
It's not for everyone, becauseit's a lot, a lot, a lot of work
.
It's a lot of hard work, anyway.
(08:02):
So first question is Gary has iswho are you Like?
Not your name, like.
I'm Shannon Brose.
That's not who I am, that's myname, which, by the way, it's my
married name.
So there's that Like, who areyou Like?
Who are you in your core Like,at the end of the day, who are
you Like?
What do you stand for?
Because you know, if you don'tknow what you stand for, then
(08:23):
you're going to end up living upto whatever someone else says.
You are their expectations ofyou and you're not living your
best life.
You're living someone else'slife and nobody wants to do that
, okay.
Second question is and if youdon't have a notepad by now, you
might want to grab one, becauseI have a lot of nuggets that I
want to cover in here for youand I'm really excited about it
because I really, really, reallywant this year to be amazing
(08:45):
for you.
Okay, what do you believe?
What do you believe in, like, what do you feel?
Gary says anything is possibleand everything can be solved.
I say everything is figureoutable because I think
everything is figure outable.
It really is, and I'm also theperson that says if you have a
problem and you come to me witha problem, you better have a
(09:06):
solution to back it up or wewill be having a discussion to
find that solution, because I'mnot always going to be the
problem solver.
I want to help you solve theproblem on your own, just like
my child.
Okay, also, what motivates youLike, not your big why, because
that tends to be a little bitmore like oh, what's your why?
And your why changes, right, your why will change always.
(09:28):
So what is it that motivatesyou?
What gets you out of bed?
What motivates you to reallylike, dive in, to like the nitty
gritty and work your butt offto do the things that you want
to do, to do all the things.
And then next question is whydo you work so hard?
And if you're not working sohard, why aren't you?
(09:49):
Why are you not working hard?
You're not giving your fullpotential for life?
Like, that's crazy, that'sinsane to me.
Like you have one life, freaking, live it to the top,
because you only get one.
That's it, and you don't havetomorrow.
You only have right now, Today, one of my word for this year.
(10:11):
Side note my word for this yearis intentional, so I want to be
intentional, more intentional, about the things that I'm doing.
Most importantly, my time andknow is going to be coming out
of my mouth a lot more than yes, yes, I can, yes, I can, yes, I
can, but am I going to?
Because?
(10:31):
Is that going to really alignwith my goals and what I want to
do?
I don't know.
If it's not, I'm not going todo it, because life is short and
I have 30 years to do thethings that I want to do.
Okay, next question is what isenough, enough and whatever that
is like, whether it's arelationship, whether it's, you
know, exercise, and whether it'sthe job that you're at.
Maybe you hate your freakingjob and you're like you know
(10:53):
what, peace out, I'm out.
You know what's funny?
I was going through my Googledrive trying to clear it out
because I have too much storage,I don't like it's full and I
found a document that I wasworking on in 2020.
No, it was a 20.
I think it was 2019.
And I said for April of 2020that I wanted to be done and
(11:17):
move back on to serving mypurpose.
And I kid you not, it was Aprilof 2020.
I was like hell, yeah, girl, subconsciously I actually forgot
that.
I actually wrote that down onpaper, well, typed it out on
paper.
Anyway, when is enough enough?
Like, when are you going to sayno?
When are you going to say yes?
When are you going to do thethings that are going to serve
(11:39):
you and your goals and yourdreams right To create a better
version of you?
Number six what do you want tobe in control of?
This is funny because I am arecovery and perfectionist and
control freak.
So when I was diagnosed withcancer, with breast cancer, I
(12:01):
was like, oh crap, I really needto slow my roll because I am
really actually not in charge ofeverything.
I'm not in control ofeverything as much as I think I
am, as much as I wanted to be.
Like, at the end of the day,the only things that you have
control over are your words, your actions and your reactions.
Right, and here's something toponder Time.
(12:23):
We all are given 24 hours in aday.
This goes back to me saying nosome more.
I want to be more intentionalwith my time blocking, more
intentional with theconversations that I have, more
intentions with the interactionsthat I have and more
intentional with my giving backand helping others.
I think I do a really good jobat it, but I want to be like
uber, uber intentional about it.
(12:43):
Anyway, you can't controleverything and at the end of the
day big picture you're reallylike totally insignificant not
to burst your bubble or like youknow whatever, but like you're
really insignificant in the bigpicture of the universe, like
you're just one person like andyou can't change everything.
So why are you going to try?
Why, like?
Why put that energy into tryingto control everything and
(13:05):
changing everything when you canjust control you?
That's it, that's all.
As much as you want to controlyour kids, you guide them, right
.
Anyway, cancer taught me a lotwith that.
What else do we have here?
Number seven what do you fear, like?
What is your fear?
Did you know that most peoplewill run away from their
(13:27):
problems rather than runningtowards their pleasure?
Think about that one.
People will all day long runaway from any problem, but they
won't run towards what they'repassionate about.
It's not weird?
I don't know.
I kind of feel like that'sweird.
I don't know, I do, sorry.
(13:49):
Anyway, number eight whatregrets are you trying to avoid?
This one was really interestingto me, because regrets I mean I
consider and be like you knowwhat.
I don't live my life withregrets, because if I did, then
that would be like I'd beconstantly going, oh, oh, my God
, I wish I did this, I wish Idid that.
Well, you know what.
But it's done, it is what it is.
(14:09):
They're learning experiences, and what that means is the
things that you regret are thethings that you had meaning,
that had meaning to you afterthe moment had passed.
So I don't necessarily callthem a regret, I just call them
a lesson.
And then hindsight, what I seeis that those lessons were for a
(14:32):
reason.
So I mean, is it relationships?
Is it like businessopportunities?
I don't know.
Like, do you live with regrets?
I don't know.
Think about that.
Do you live your life withregrets or do you just say, okay
, they were life lessons.
Hmm, something to ponder.
Like, do you regret havingchicken tacos last taco Tuesday
(14:54):
rather than having steak tacosor ground beef?
Like, no, that's just adecision you made because that's
what you freaking wanted atthat time, on that day.
Hmm, because you're crazy likethat.
Yeah, okay, number nine how doyou bring meaning to your life?
Hmm?
How do you bring meaning toyour life?
Work isn't who you are.
(15:15):
It's what you do to make themoney to do the things that you
want to do.
So how do you bring meaning toyour life?
Hmm?
And last question is who areyou in the end?
I loved this and it really, really, really sank in with me,
because I actually just watchedone of my friends go through the
(15:37):
process of watching her fatherpass away and it was really,
really, really sad because, atthe end of the day, it was
actually when I was listening tothis podcast that I heard this
and I was like, oh my gosh, atthe end of the day, like who,
who are you in the end?
Really?
Like that's why I say thinkabout a bigger goal, not just
for the year, but like in 30years.
(15:57):
Like, who do you want to be?
Like if you're in your deathbednext year which you're not
going to be, god willing?
Like it is what it is Like, that's that's what you are, who
you are.
It is like that's it.
There's nothing else you can do.
But if you know, okay, I haveanother.
Like you know 10, 20, 30 yearsleft in me.
(16:18):
Let's play it for that Likewhere do you see yourself Like
if I'm on my deathbed in 30years?
I want to be like I know I hadmy nonprofit started.
I want to know I helped agazillion cancer survivors
navigate their their breastcancer or their any cancer their
recovery through bridging thatgap between the medical and
fitness industries.
I'm freaking hell bent on likebridging this gap to the medical
(16:41):
and fitness industries becauseit's redonkulous.
Yeah, I said it, it'sredonkulous.
So I need your help on that, please.
Thank you.
I want to know that I helped somany people achieve their wealth
dreams with real estate.
I want to know that I helped somany people achieve their dream
of owning a home First timehomeowners downsizing, helping
(17:02):
their kids build their wealth inreal estate.
I want to know that I helped somany other realtors elevate
their their real estate career.
I wanna know that I can helpsomebody get into real estate if
they've never even had theopportunity to do Like.
I can help you get into realestate Pretty easy.
In fact, I probably can do itfor you.
I had no charge, anyway, if youhave any interest in ever doing
(17:26):
that.
Anyway, yeah, there's so manyoptions, like I.
Just I wanna know that, like Iwanna give back to everyone all
day long.
That's just who I am.
I know I need to make money todo that, but it is what it is.
So anyway, with that being said, we are going to, while you
ponder those 10 questions andyou think about them and you go
back to them and you write themdown and you rewrite them.
(17:47):
We're gonna take a break hereso we can go ahead and we can
give a little time for oursponsored ad for the Shannon
Burroughs Group.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
Here we are Okay.
So, like I said, I had thepleasure of being in the room
today with Jeff Glover, and helives by the Unreal Life Formula
.
That's, his jam is Unreal Life, live the Unreal Life.
What does that mean?
I don't know.
We always say that we wannalive like the best version of
ourselves.
Right, we wanna live like thebest life and your best life?
(19:42):
He was so interesting the wayhe said this.
He said your best life is onlywhat you think you know or what
someone has told you.
Right, like so what?
I think my best life would be Idon't know whatever.
For example, let's just say mybest life would be I'd be making
a shit ton of money and I'd besitting on the beach.
I could travel whenever, wherever, not have to worry
(20:04):
about expenses, because thatwould be a thing.
I'd have my real estate teamoperating on its own, because my
full team would be rocking androlling.
I don't know.
I really don't care about cars,so it's not like I have a car
dream.
My daughter, brylee, would becompletely set in regards to her
(20:25):
college education being paidfor and she would be living a
wonderful life and I would beable to help her and guide her
to whatever her dreams are andanyway, things like that like
what is your best life?
Like, what does that best lifelook like for you?
And, of course, it had my bellawith me.
What does it look like for you?
(20:46):
Hmm guess what?
You know what he said.
He said you're basicallylimiting yourself bye just
saying that you just want tolive your best life, like what
about beyond?
Like you don't know what it'slike beyond because you don't
know anything else.
You only know what you'vethought about, like what you
think your best life would be,but you don't know what that is
(21:08):
beyond.
So hopefully you have your penand paper still, because I'm
gonna go through this littlething with you that he did with
his little exercise.
Words are hard.
I'm tired.
Gonna go through this littleexercise that he did with us and
it's kind of like businessplanning, goal planning,
whatever, but like starting Idon't know if you've ever done
business planning and you get tolike your goals and then, like
(21:29):
sometimes you end up in likethis little hamster wheel and
you're like I'm gonna go back, check the boxes, go back, check
the boxes, blah, blah, blah.
Because that's what we do whenwe do like just one year goals
Check the box done, check thebox done rather than being like
the bigger picture, right?
So there's five boxes and thefirst box if you're visual, the
first box is at the bottom ofyour piece of paper and we're
gonna go up, five boxes total.
The first one.
(21:50):
The first box is you're gonnaput in there the word money and
what that is is you're gonnaidentify all of your needs and
wants and discover your cost ofliving.
Okay, what does that numberlook like?
It's gonna be different foreverybody, obviously, and I
challenge you to double that.
So if you are in a job that youonly make X amount of dollars
(22:18):
because that's your salary, thenyou're kind of capped and
you're kind of limited andtherefore you're kind of screwed
.
If you have big, huge dreams andwants and needs and whatnot,
let's just think for a minute, like, let's just think, pretend
you're on your own because Iwant to empower a woman to have
their own shit.
You know what I mean.
I'm saying anyway.
I mean, obviously have yourjoints up, but I'm just saying
(22:39):
like it's good to like have yourown thing so you can do your
thing, what you want, right?
So identify your needs andwants.
Here's the beautiful thing aboutreal estate you're never capped
.
You're never capped the amountof money that you can make, and
you've heard me say before I dobelieve that everyone should
have multiple streams of income.
So, whether you're thinkingabout doing that little side
hustle, do it.
(23:00):
If you're thinking about doingthis other little side, hustle,
find your passion, do it, do thethings Anyway.
So money is the first one, andif you don't have enough of it,
then you gotta make more.
That's why I say have multiplestreams, okay.
The next box is going to betransactions.
Now, this is geared towardsreal estate, but you can gear it
towards anything.
Whether you're in sales of somesort, whether I mean, let's be
(23:23):
real, like everything is sales, right, it's just what you're
selling.
What's the commodity thatyou're selling?
You're selling houses, you'reselling cars, you're selling
books, you're selling I don'tknow therapy sessions, doctors,
I don't know, whatever.
You're selling something,everyone's selling something.
So that's basically yourbusiness plan for any business.
So, like, you need to sell Xnumber of things to make X, y
and Z, right.
So that's your number oftransactions.
(23:44):
So basically, like, we'll justuse run numbers.
So if you wanted to make$100,000 and you have so many
transactions and let's say yourtransaction is $100 of
transaction whatever, so howmany do you need to sell?
How many of those do you needto sell?
That's the number oftransactions that you need to do
(24:04):
, whatever.
That is, however many, that is,whether it's if you're in three
different income streams orwhatever.
Next one this is fun.
The next one, the box isoptions.
This one was kind of cool, sothis is like equivalent to your
vision board.
So what are the places that youwant to go?
Do not we're not limitingourselves Like write all the
(24:26):
things down, like the things youwant to do, the investments
that you want to make, thingsyou want to have, or maybe
things that you want toexperience, experiences that you
want to have with yourself, with your family, friends, loved
ones, whatever.
What are the things that youwant?
They're just options wants.
Next one is that.
Fourth box is your best self.
(24:47):
Write down traits, habits, characteristics of those that
you admire and want to take onyourself.
It was pretty interesting whenwe did this, because the first
thing that came to my mind wasPrincess Diana.
She's always been my role model.
I've loved her.
I was crushed when she died.
I remember watching the funeralon TV.
I just think that that womanhad like the biggest heart, the
(25:10):
kindest person, and I wanted tobe here.
All I wanted to do wasphilanthropy work, for since I
was young when she died, andthat's why I think I strive so
hard to do those things becauseI just love it.
I mean, I love that.
I also love Mel Robbins, whichis what I'm really super excited
to see here.
(25:30):
There's a lot of people thatare like but anyway, think about
what those traits, habits andcharacteristics are and, you
know, mold yourself into that.
Then the next one is called thebox is your unreal life.
And the unreal life is definedas something so amazing it's
almost unbelievable.
Hmm, hmm, you don't even knowwhat that looks like.
(25:52):
Ha ha ha.
I love that.
You don't even know what thatlooks like.
I don't either, but that's whywe had to do this exercise.
So it is really, really, reallycool.
And then you just take that andyou look at it every single day
and that is what you can tie into what I talked about at the
beginning of this episode ofanswering those questions and
who are you at the end?
(26:12):
Who are you at the end and whatdoes that unreal life look like
for you?
What you think?

a lucky year.
