Good morning! Kelly Savage here with the Butterfly Thoughts Podcast.

Happy Sunday!

In this episode of Scriptures, Whispers, and Prayers, we delve into the profound wisdom found in the book of Proverbs.

I have a deep love for learning and knowledge, but even more so for wisdom. There's a distinct difference between being book smart and learning all kinds of knowledge and applying that knowledge in our lives and everyday issues so we can grow in wisdom.

Proverbs, a collection of concise, metaphorical statements, offers timeless guidance on everyday matters, relationships, work, and personal integrity.

Join me as we explore the practical wisdom of Proverbs, starting with chapter one.

*Do you want more wisdom?  Do you want to grow?

If so, dive in with me and learn timeless wisdom that still applies for our busy today's world in all areas of our life.

My prayer for you today is that we all start with reverence, humility, and the choice to seek wisdom. May we open our hearts, minds, and ears to the opportunities for growth and moral improvement that Proverbs offers. Thank you for joining me on this journey toward wisdom. In the name of Jesus, amen.

All my best and until next time!

(00:00):
Good morning. Kelly Savage with the Butterfly Thoughts Podcast.
Happy Sunday. We're doing an episode of Scriptures, Whispers, and Prayers.
I started to go back into the Proverbs.
I myself love to learn. I myself love knowledge, more knowledge, but wisdom.

(00:25):
And when I say those two words, I believe that there is a difference.
I believe we can have all the knowledge in the world.
We can be very, very book smart, but the wisdom becomes when it's a head knowledge
to a heart knowledge that actually changes our perspective.

(00:46):
Changes our actions, changes our thought processes, and we apply the knowledge to our life.
So, I want more of that in my life, and I'm inviting everyone who really wants
wisdom in their life, practical wisdom, practical wisdom from the book of Proverbs.

(01:08):
That is what the book is for.
It's nestled within the wisdom literature of the Old Testament.
Proverbs is a collection, instruction, and insights to impart the wisdom to us.
So a proverb is a concise, often metaphorical statement that conveys wisdom,

(01:31):
truth, or some moral advice.
They can distill complex truths into what I like, which is easily remembered
phrases and kind of almost keep it simple, which again is what I like.
So why study Proverbs? Well, for me, it is about timeless wisdom.

(01:58):
There is something to be said about wisdom from older generations sitting with
them, they can impart wisdom.
Proverbs is timeless wisdom, addressing fundamental aspects of human behavior
and ethics that still live on today.

(02:20):
Why study Proverbs?
Practical guidance. If you really do want some answers about your life,
Proverbs can give you those answers and it's practical advice on everyday matters,
relationships, work, personal integrity.
And another reason we can study or should study Proverbs is a moral foundation.

(02:45):
Now, all of our morals are different. What kind of life do we want? Do we want more wisdom?
Do we want to make that a part of our life?
And everybody does have have a different moral compass. I'm not here to change anybody.
I'm here to invite those that believe that they can gleam from God's word,

(03:09):
gleam from Proverbs, and dig in and learn more knowledge to apply to their life for wisdom.
So who's in with me for wisdom?
Excuse me so how do you apply proverbs one or chapter one to our today's world

(03:31):
well that's what i'm studying.
I do know this, after even reading the intro to Proverbs again,
it is about embracing it.
The reverential respect and fear of God, His Word,
how this is the truth, respecting that reverentially and having that fear and

(03:59):
wanting that wisdom is the total beginning.
Just like pretty much everything I talk about, choice.
So if you want to choose wisdom, if you want to go into the Proverbs,
if you want to study them, that's all your choice.
But in today's fast-paced, information-saturated world,

(04:23):
and it is, all we have to do is Google Google what or why or when,
and we have an answer in seconds, which is amazing.
But the pursuit of wisdom remains crucial.
The pursuit of knowledge and then applying it to become wisdom in our life is crucial.

(04:47):
So we have to learn first to cultivate reverence and humility.
We don't know everything.
Knowing that this is truth, we can relearn and relearn and grow and take our onion layers off.
So first, cultivating reverence and humility, huge.

(05:09):
Number two, choose. Choose to study it. Choose to apply it. It's huge.
Heeding wise counsel is huge.
Whether it be the book of Proverbs or your bosses at work that can help you
in learning tasks, you take that counsel, you actually look for that counsel to learn.

(05:34):
Choosing your companions wisely. This is across the board.
This is across the board as far as who we choose to take our time up with,
who we learn from, who we sit with, who we spend most of our time with.
Choosing them wisely will have a positive influence in our life.

(05:58):
And my personal favorite, responding to the call of wisdom.
So after we're diving into Proverbs, are we looking for those opportunities
for growth, moral improvement,
how to apply what we're learning to our life, responding to constructive criticism

(06:20):
when there is that choice.
So in summary, the book of Proverbs, starting with chapter one that I did today,
it does lay a profound foundation for a life of wisdom and virtue.
By understanding the teachings and integrating them in our daily lives,

(06:40):
we can navigate pretty complex modern day life with greater insight,
integrity, and peace. That's what I want.
So scriptures, whispers, look for those whispers, so how you can apply it to your life.
And my prayer for you today is that we all start with that reverence, humility,

(07:08):
the choice to choose to go into more wisdom, and then heeding and looking for opportunities.
Opportunities so god i ask that you
touch every one of us that are listening today i
bet pretty much if i'm praying right now

(07:28):
and they're hearing it they have listened through the
whole thing and they desire wisdom they desire to hear in by reading your word
they desire to have their heart and mind and ears open to listen for opportunities
in their life to apply the knowledge,

(07:50):
the truth to become wisdom in their life that they can too pass on.
So first, thank you for your wisdom. Thank you for our hearts going towards wisdom.
Cultivate our hearts.
Cultivate us the way you need to even hear and understand the Proverbs that you have.

(08:14):
So Lord, help us today open up our spiritual eyes,
our hearts, our ears to heed to the best reverence and the best wisdom that
we can have in your book of Proverbs.
Thank you. In the name of Jesus, amen.
