(00:00):
Hey, mamas, let me ask yousomething.
When was the last time you didsomething just for you?
Not for the kids, not for yourbusiness?
Not because someone neededsomething from you, but for the
version of you who existedbefore all the chaos started.
That woman still lives inside ofyou.
(00:20):
She might be buried beneathpiles of laundry, slack
notifications and snackrequests, but she's there.
And today we're calling herback.
Welcome to Caffeinated Chaos, where business deals happen
between diaper changes andfriendships are fueled by
caffeine.
I'm Whitney GaN, your host, andI'm here to talk all things
(00:43):
business parenthood, and ofcourse keeping up with the BFFs,
whether you're juggling theboardroom, the playroom, or just
here for some coffee fuel chaos.
We've got you covered.
Get ready for real talk, laughsand a whole lot of heart as we
dive into the beautiful messthat is entrepreneurship,
parenthood, and everything inbetween.
So let's embrace the chaostogether.
(01:04):
Ated, of course.
Let's get honest for a second.
When you became a parent, especially a mom and a business
owner at the same time, youridentity can kind of feel like a
checklist of responsibilities.
All of a sudden, CEO caregiver, content creator, diaper changer
(01:25):
in chief snack distributor, customer service rep, human
jungle, gym.
It's no wonder we wake up somemornings thinking, who am I
really anymore?
My husband has been on thisthing where he's always like, go
hang out with your girlfriends.
Do this, do that.
And don't get me wrong, I lovehanging with my kids, but I also
(01:47):
miss my girls too.
And my girls are also marriedand mamas now, so we have a nice
little mama get together, wegrab some food, we talk about
our lives, we catch up and.
We are also the same girls wholike if you text me at some
point and there's an emergency,we will text back and we will be
(02:09):
there for you.
But also we totally understandif it's gonna be a couple days,
we get it.
And this isn't just about timemanagement or self care, it's
about the emotional space.
Because when you're always onfor everyone else, your kids,
your clients, your partner, youforget how to be yourself
sometimes.
(02:30):
So you default to caretaker andthe creative, vibrant, messy,
fun version of you gets pushedto your back burner.
And so here's the kicker.
Society rewards this.
We get praised for doing all thethings, for being super mom, for
hustling nonstop, but we don'tget nearly enough encouragement
(02:50):
to slow down and just be.
So let's talk about some signsthat you might be in this place.
Think of it as a kind of, neverhave I ever, right.
So here we go.
One, you don't remember whathobbies you actually enjoy
anymore.
Two, your wardrobe starts tolike you rated your child's
(03:10):
laundry basket and just threw onwhatever was clean.
You start to introduce yourself.
As so-and-so's mom and I run abusiness, but nothing else.
You feel guilt when you taketime away from your business or
your kids just to rest.
Or you feel resentful sometimes, but don't know who or what to
blame.
(03:31):
If this is sounding familiar, ifyou are nodding your head,
raising your hand, you are notbroken.
You're just buried under layersand layers of life.
Okay, let's shift now.
Into the how, because reclaimingyour identity, doesn't mean
abandoning your kids orbusiness.
(03:52):
It means bringing yourself backinto the picture.
And there are some ways tostart.
I am gonna list a few, as alwayslisteners, I always say, take
what you like.
Take what resonates, leave therest.
So some things you can take asone name, the version of you you
want to reconnect with.
(04:13):
Is she creative, adventurous, goofy, maybe quiet?
Does she read novels, paint?
Dance in the kitchen atmidnight.
Write down a few traits orhabits and let yourself
remember.
Two, do one small thing a weekjust for her.
(04:33):
Schedule it, defend it like it'sa client meeting.
Maybe it's reading for 20minutes with no interruptions.
Maybe it's playing a video game,taking a solo target.
Run.
I know solo.
Whoa.
Okay.
Or journaling.
Three, stop waiting for freetime.
(04:54):
Create pockets of presents.
If we wait until the kids areolder or the house is cleaner,
or the business is bigger, we'llbe waiting forever.
Carve out imperfect moments.
Instead, five minutes of dancingin the kitchen counts singing
out loud in the car counts.
(05:14):
Ordering your favorite takeoutcounts for me when I arrive at
my day job.
I have 30 minutes before anyonegets there and I put my
headphones on and I listen to myfavorite nineties songs.
Or maybe even musicals, depending on my mood for that
day.
Okay, four.
(05:34):
Let your family see you as afull human.
Your kids deserve to see youthriving, not just surviving.
Let them see you laugh, rest, dream.
Show them what it means to loveyourself without feeling any
guilt, because that is apowerful legacy and.
(05:55):
Something very powerful to passon and to teach your kids as
well.
Now let's talk about thebusiness.
If your brand doesn't feel likeyou anymore, it's okay to pivot
at again, studios.
I work with fellow entrepreneursand parents who create branding
and messaging that actuallyfeels aligned to who they are.
(06:16):
Our whole thing is you can growa business while raising babies
and.
We want to make sure that itfeels just aligned with what you
are growing and who you are, because your business ideals
should really reflect the valuesin your voice, in your life, not
just trends of or what peopleare doing on Instagram.
(06:37):
Your business should be areflection of you, not a
replacement.
You were someone beautiful andbrilliant before motherhood and
business, and you still are.
Give yourself permission to takeup space.
Again, do something wildlyunnecessary but joyful.
(06:57):
Remember that you matter outsideof what you do for everyone
else.
You're not lost, you've beenburied, and you're digging her
back out one moment at a time.
So whether you reclaim herthrough coffee dates,
journaling, creating contentthat feels real, or dancing
barefoot in your living room, Isee you.
