Summer is beautiful — spontaneous ice cream runs, sunshine, and late sunsets. But for moms and busy grownups, it’s also… survival mode. With kids home, camp schedules, pool towels, and potty breaks running the show, it can feel impossible to make time for the people who matter most.

In today’s episode, Whitney gets real about what summer friendships actually look like in this season of life — chaotic, creative, loud, and absolutely worth fighting for. You’ll walk away with practical ideas and encouragement to keep your friendships messy but meaningful all summer long.

So grab your iced coffee, slide on your sunnies, and let’s talk about keeping your chaos crew close, even when life gets messy.

What You’ll Learn in This Episode:

☀️ Why summer feels so hard on adult friendships — and why you’re not alone
☀️ How to lower the bar but raise your intention with friends this season
☀️ Creative ways to stay connected — from park meetups to voice memos
☀️ Actionable ideas for summer-friendly friendship dates (that work with kids in tow!)
☀️ Why presence matters more than perfection

(00:35):
Welcome back to Cafee Chaos, where hustle meets the heart.
And today the heart isdefinitely wearing flip flops,
chasing a toddler through thesprinkles and texting her
bestie.
Wanna meet at the park again?
Because listen, summer,beautiful.
It's sunshine's spontaneous icecream runs.
I get it.

(00:56):
But for moms and busy adults,it's also survival.
It's working with kids at home.
It's planning your week aroundcamp schedules, potty breaks,
and pool towels.
And somewhere in all that chaos, friendships have to fight to
stay afloat.
So today we're talking all aboutthat.

(01:17):
How do we make time for ourpeople in the middle of all this
madness from Play Day catchupsto text threads that become
lifelines.
We are gonna break it down, it'ssummer.
So pour some of that ice coffeepop on your sunglasses and let's
get into it.
Let's call it what it's summer.

(01:38):
Summer friendships are notPinterest perfect brunches and
beach days.
We thought adulthood wouldbring.
For me, it's more like I broughtthe goldfish and the wipes.
You bring the juice, and thebackup pants kind of meetups.
They're chaotic, they're loud,they're rarely uninterrupted,
and yet they are so needed.

(02:00):
Friendships in this season.
Well, let's be real.
They take creativity, they takegrace, and most of all, they
take intentionality, even ifit's just voice memos sent
between splash pad meltdowns.
So if you are waiting for thestars to align ever so nicely.

(02:26):
Hercules fans anyway.
If you are waiting for the starsto align for quiet coffee dates,
it might not happen untilOctober.
So instead we get scrappy.
All right, so we're gonnaembrace the chaos like we always
do, and.
And kind of embrace the mom dateat the park Energy.

(02:49):
Let the kids run wild while youtalk about everything and
nothing.
Even half finished conversationscount because you're showing up,
and that's what matters.
summer strips away, routineschool pickups and regular work
hours are swapped for chaos, which means our adult friendship
rhythms naturally get off track.

(03:09):
So we get creative and thatmight look different for each
person, maybe it's drivewaychats after bedtime, a shared
Google calendar with friendshipholds.
Yeah, that's a thing.
Now, bring your laptop to yourfriend's house and coworking
while your kids destroy yourliving room.

(03:30):
Carpooling to camp drop offs, just for the five minutes of
uninterrupted talk.
When you say you can't be there.
It's good to stay digitallyconnected if you can.
Not all friendships are localand not all days are meetup
days, but you can still stayconnected.

(03:52):
Voice memos, oh my gosh, blessthem.
They are the best thing formultitasking moms.
I literally got one thismorning.
Shared playlist or summer bookrecs.
I do this all the time on mypersonal Instagram, sending
funny reels and replying withthis is so us.

(04:12):
And also just sending texts withzero pressure for a reply.
Something just like I'm thinkingabout you today.
It's not about perfection, it'sabout the presence.
And even if it's digital, itstill counts.
So if you're listening andthinking, I don't feel like
anyone's trying to make time forme this summer, well, guess

(04:35):
what?
You're not alone.
Okay?
Summer can feel like a verylonely season for grownups,
especially when you're the oneinitiating over and over, or if
your season looks different thanyour friends.
This is your gentle reminder tocommunicate your needs,
honestly.
But also be the friend who sendsthe invite anyway.

(04:58):
Even if it's just, Hey, wannatalk while the kids scooter
around or FaceTime wine nighttonight.
Sometimes all it takes is onebrave text to bring the spark
back.
So I like to give someactionable steps so here's some
things that could work for you.

(05:18):
Plan weekly, walks and talks, stroller, edition, pack all your
little snacks in a handle andjust have kids snacks.
And have mom snacks.
Plus you'll get your exercise onas well.
Start a Summer Survival Dr.
Summer Survival Group.
Chat with memes, venting, andpark plans.

(05:40):
Do friend chores together, foldlaundry on FaceTime with each
other.
Host a bring your own Chaosbackyard.
Hang random yard toys, kids, andtow.
It's fine.
Schedule a kid swap if you can.
One watches the kids while theother naps or showers.

(06:01):
Love this idea the truth.
Friendships in summer don't haveto look picture perfect to be
powerful.
Sometimes the loudest act oflove is showing up in the mess,
in the fire, in the goldfishcovered car seats.
Oh my gosh.
I just got triggered.
I have so many goldfish thatactually they're Cheerios.

(06:24):
They just fell all over thebackseat of my car.
See what I mean?
Chaos every day.
It's a permission slip to lowerthat bar, but raise your
intention to make time for yourpeople, not because it's in, not
because it's convenient, butbecause they matter to you.
All right.
Before I leave, I just wanted toremind you all that.

(06:45):
We still have our free, realistic summer bucket list.
