Hello from the Amplified newsroom. I'm Ashley Nolan. The ACT
Director of Public Prosecutions is reportedly renewing calls for more
funding from the government to better support the office. The
ABC reports the DPP is worried the office may have
to start turning away some cases because there's so many
of them. She says, they're dealing with a growing annual

caseload of more than twenty three thousand charges and the
current funding is not enough to deal with the number
of files that are coming into them. Complaints made about
ACT police over victims' rights more than doubled last financial
year compared to the year before. According to the Human
Rights Commission's latest annual report, two hundred and fifty concerns

were raised about ACT policing with Victim Support Act, up
from ninety six the year before. Three hundred and twenty
five victim rights concerns were raised with VSACT last year,
an increase of one hundred and sixty two percent from
twenty five twenty three to twenty four. Public hearings for

an inquiry into the stamp duty concession scheme start today.
It comes after first home buyers were slapped with fines
and interest years after being told they were eligible for
the home buyer concession. Shadow Treasurer Ed Cox says can

A brand new respite cottage is opening today to support
Canberra's cars. The purpose built facility provides short term and
overnight respite in a homelike environment and can a cop

ACT Emergency of US agencies are educating Camberans on earthquake safety.
They're reminding us in the event of an earthquake to
drop cover and hold on. Seismologist Michelle Salmon says most
of the earthquakes that happen in our area are just
outside the ACT.

We do have some big faults that run through the
ACT that are capable of having earthquakes on them, so
it's not beyond possibilities that we could get a large
earthquake in camera.

Cracks have emerged in the Gaza ceasefire, with at least
seven Palestinians shot dead overnight. Israel says they were shot
for refusing to withdraw from a ceasefire line. Peace talks
in Egypt are continuing, but there is no timeline for
