Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello from the Amplified Newsroom. I'm Ashley Nolan. The nineteen
ninety six National Firearms Agreement will be renegotiated following Sunday's
terrorist attack in Sydney, Federal, State and territory leaders agreeing
that the laws need to be beefed up in today's
changing security environment. Proposed changes include having Australian citizenship as

(00:21):
a condition of firearms licenses. Chief Minister Andrew Bass says
the ACT Government strongly endorses the agreed outcomes of the meeting.
The sales of the Sydney Opera House have lit up
overnight in honour of the Jewish community with a projection
of the Manora. New South Wales Premier Chris Mins says
lighting the Opera House is a simple but powerful gesture

(00:42):
and the candles of the Minora are a symbol of resilience.
Emotional vigils have been held in the city to pay
tribute to the fifteen innocent people killed and more than
forty injured. ACT Police say they will have increased police
presence over the next few months following the Bondai terror attack.
ACT Acting Chief Police Officer Peter Crozier says they'll have

(01:05):
extra patrolling at places of worship for the Jewish community
across Canberra.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
There's a number of locations that are linked to the
Jewish community within the Act. There's three particularly that we
will provide extra visible presence at, including further increased patrolling.
So there will be a lot more visible patrolling which
will occur in those locations and will provide some specific
what we call static locations at particularly one the Jewish Center.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
We're being encouraged a book a blood donation appointment days
or even weeks in advance to assist those impacted by
the Bondai terror attack. Lifeblood Act spokesperson Sally Davison says
we will need more blood in the weeks to come.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
We understand there may not be any available appointment when
you're looking, but if you can't get an appointment right now,
book it for a couple of days in advance or
next week as well as the demand will be ongoing
for these patients.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
For those already in the twelve week waiting period, you
can book an early interval to donate blood again after
only ten days. Rob Reiner's son has been charged with
the death of his parents in their la home. The director,
actor and his wife Michelle, were found dead at their
Brentwood house on Sunday afternoon local time. Their thirty two

(02:19):
year old son was booked into jail early Monday morning,
with bails set at six million dollars. Rhiner is best
known for directing classics like When Harry Met Sally and
The Princess Bride. The Wheels Motoring event is moving back
to Canberra after five years in Queen Bean. The annual
Heritage Motoring Enthusiasts display will be on at Thoroughbred Park

(02:41):
on March twenty two next year. Paul Herinko, ACT Motorclub's
president says around seven hundred vehicles are expected to be
on show this year.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
We're specifically doing MG's and ACT military vehicles. We're going
to have some military vehicles probably from next to the
National Museum.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
And that's the latest in news. We'll have another update
for you write here later today.
