Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello from the Amplifying newsroom. I'm Ashley Nolan. The Community
and Public Sector Union has slammed the federal government's lack
of action as jobs are cut at the CSIRO. With
over four hundred and forty positions already cut and more expected,
there's growing fears it could affect Australia's long term innovation
and productivity capacity.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
We want to see the government intervene and to provide
the funding to ensure VSIRO can continue to support their
scientific work and keep these people employed. We want to
see the VSRO management supporting rather than cutting these jobs.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
National Secretary of the CPSU, Melissa Donnelly. There locals can
expect disruption on Northbourne Avenue this weekend as the road
will be closed northbound between Vernon Circle and Rudd Street.

Cambra's National Zoo has welcomed a new lion cub to

old Nira weighs just under fourteen kilos and is already
out and about.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Nira and her parents are on display every day. She
is most visible in the middle of the day. If
people come between eleven and two pm each day, you've
got a very good chance of seeing Nira having a
snooze with her parents in the sun.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
It comes ahead of World Line Day celebrations on Sunday.
Phones at the Ready Canbra's Thoroughbred Park is set to
host a viral Food festival, giving locals the chance to
try some of the internet's most famous food. Kicking off tonight,
the Viral Food Festival is on until Sunday night, with
over forty trending dishes, live music, and an array of activities.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
It's a celebration of all the wile foods that people
see online. So what we wanted to do was kind
of bring all those people together into one place so
that people can come down and try, you know, all
these creety, these trending foods that they've been seeing online
one easy place to get to.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Event coordinator Sam Adams there Kathleen Folbeg set to receive
a two million dollar compensation payment after being released from prison.
She spent two decades behind bars before it was found
she had been wrongfully convicted for killing her children. Polbig's
lawyer says the sum doesn't reflect the extent of the

(02:23):
pain and suffering she endured. The Israeli Prime Minister says
he intends to take full military control of Gaza, ignoring
growing international calls for peace. Benjamin Netanyaho says Israel wants
a security perimeter, but not to govern Gaza. We want
to hand it over to our forces that will govern

(02:44):
it properly without threatening us and giving Ghazans a good life.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
That's not possible with COMMAS.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
The United Nations has warned Israel's move could have catastrophic consequences.
Canber's most popular cat breed has been revealed, with the
domestic show short Hair topping the list locally and in
most other states around Australia. New data from pet insurance

Domestic medium here was second, followed by ragdoll and main
coon coming in at number five. And that's the latest
