Hello from the Amplifying newsroom. I'm Ashley Nolan. The Community
and Public Sector Union has slammed the federal government's lack
of action as jobs are cut at the CSIRO. With
over four hundred and forty positions already cut and more expected,
there's growing fears it could affect Australia's long term innovation
and productivity capacity.

We want to see the government intervene and to provide
the funding to ensure VSIRO can continue to support their
scientific work and keep these people employed. We want to
see the VSRO management supporting rather than cutting these jobs.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
National Secretary of the CPSU, Melissa Donnelly. There locals can
expect disruption on Northbourne Avenue this weekend as the road
will be closed northbound between Vernon Circle and Rudd Street.
It's to prepare for light rail and to improve the
stormwater drainage system in the city. The closure will start
at eight pm tonight, reopening at six am on Monday.

Cambra's National Zoo has welcomed a new lion cub to
the Pride. Wildlife Manager Sophie Denrinos says little three month
old Nira weighs just under fourteen kilos and is already
out and about.

Nira and her parents are on display every day. She
is most visible in the middle of the day. If
people come between eleven and two pm each day, you've
got a very good chance of seeing Nira having a
snooze with her parents in the sun.
