Hi There from the Amplify newsroom. I'm Renebigatco. Police investigating
a shooting in Banks last month believe the incident may
have been a case of mistaken identity. Four search warrants
have been carried out after two men allegedly went into
a bank's home and shot an occupant in the leg
on July eighth. Police say electronic devices, drugs and two

vehicles were seized, but no arrests have been made. A
forty year old fattened woman will face court on a
later date after she was allegedly caught drink driving more
than six times the limit. Police say she blew point
three three one after crashing into a black use on
the Monaro Highway in Narrabunda. She's also lost her license.

The federal government says Australia remains in the best possible
position under the US tariff regime. Our rate will stay
at ten percent, despite Donald Trump threatening to increase it
to twenty. Trade Minister Don Farrell says while it is
a release, they're not giving up on having it removed completely.

We believe in free and fair trade and we will
continue to put the argument to the United States that
they should remove all tariffs on Australian products in accordance
with our free trade agreement.

The A and U says it is carefully considering the

request financial documents from the A and U and to
instruct the university to pause further job cuts until a
Senate inquiry into governance at higher education providers is completed.

More staff per patients in Canberra's hospitals from today as
the Act Government rolls out Phase two of nurse and
midwife to patient ratios. This next stage expands ratios to
perioperative and maternity services NIKU and the Special Care Nursery
at Canberra Hospital, as well as cooperative and endoscopy services
