Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello from the Amplifying newsroom. I'm Hayden Visserah. A newborn
baby was found at the ECNDA fire station just before
seven thirty this morning, with police trying to find the mum.
The baby, who's believed to have been born in the
last twenty four hours, has been taken a hospital with
no obvious injuries. Police are urging anyone who may know
the mum to encourage her to get medical help, while

(00:22):
witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage of people or
cars near the station overnight or early this morning should
call crime stoppers. Cleanup continues today for the ACT SEES
after responding to more than one hundred and forty jobs
yesterday thanks to high wins. Chief Officer Steve Forbes says
there could still be dangerous limbs hanging from trees.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
If anyone sees those, they can report them. If they're
own public lands to fix my street. If they're worried
about their safety or damage to property, call the ACTSS
some one three two five hundred and we'll get someone
around to assist.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Wins are expected to reach up to forty kilometers an
hour today. The Prime Minister has announced a deal has
finally been struck on the country's environment laws. The reforms
are expected to be passed by the Senate today, five
years after they were first recommended locally. Member for Fenner
Andrew Lee says it's great news.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
We will see the creation of a new environmental protection agency.
We will see all major emitting projects required to disclose
their greenhouse gas emissions and we're going to see speedier
approval slow risk projects.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Meanwhile, the Coalition says Labour's environment reforms will only deliver
more red tape. Shadow Environment Minister Angie Bell says it's
a dirty deal.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
Let's make no mistake in Australian energy producers have said
this will deliver more red tape for gas, This will
deliver more red tape for housing. This is a problem
for Australians when it comes to jobs, when it comes
to productivity.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
The Act Greens are heading on a road trip to
Newcastle tomorrow to support a blockade of the world's biggest
coal ports. It could become Australia's largest civil disobedience action,
with more than seven thousand people turning out to last
year's protests. Green's leader Shane Rattenbury says it's about demanding
real climate action from Labour their support for moves to

(02:07):
extend and expand these sexual violence legal services pilots, including
one here in the Act. Federal funding will see the
Act pilot continue through to twenty twenty seven. To twenty
eight it supported more than two hundred clients in the
past year. The local Women's Legal Center and Victims Support
Act have welcomed the extension but say more needs to

(02:28):
be done on justice system reform. Paramedics are hailing a
bystander for saving the life of a man who was
attacked by a shark on the New South Wales Mid
North Coast. The man, in his twenties, is in a
serious but stable condition after being mauled at Crowdy Bay,
south of Port Macquarie this morning. A woman in her
twenties was also attacked, but sadly died at the scene.

(02:49):
Josh Smith from New South Wales Ambulance says there would
have been two fatalities had it not been for the
actions of the quick thinking bystander.

Speaker 5 (02:57):
Just really you need to have a shout out to
the boy standard on the beach who put a makeshift
tonka on the mail's leg which obviously potentially saved his
life and allowed New South Wales Ambulance paramedics to get
to him and Randa first eight.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
A new facility will launch this weekend for the Canberra
Street Cat Alliance, allowing the group to streamline its cut intake,
desexing and adoption process. President Vanessa Partons says the new
facility has allowed them to grow.

Speaker 6 (03:23):
The venue that we've got is going to provide us
the ability to ouhold event for the community to come along.
I'm hoping to open it up to the community on
more days so the greater community can get the benefit
of it.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
And good news for locals with four legged friends on
the south side, the new Lanyon Dog Park is now open.
And that's the latest in the Cambin newsroom so far.
We'll have another update for you right here later on
this afternoon.

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today.
