Hello from the Amplifying newsroom. I'm Hayden Visera. The Act
Greens are putting forward a proposal calling for the Act
government to get a fairer share of Commonwealth revenue to
help boost our local budgets. Green's Deputy Leader Joe Clay
says Canberra has missed out on six hundred and fifty
million dollars in federal funding.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
That's because the Commonwealth has undercounted our population. They haven't
waived our housing debts where they've waived it to Tasmania
in South Australia, and I haven't acknowledged that we are
losing out on GST and payroll tax on Commonwealth's public servants.
Speaker 1 (00:36):

It was appropriately triaged as a priority to response for
ACT ambulance. There are a number of other emergencies in
the territory at the time of that call, and as
soon as we're able to dispatch a paramedic crew to
that patient, they attended.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
The ACT. Government cracks down on violence and harassment on
our public buses. It's introduced new laws in the Assembly
that'd give police and transport camera officers more powers to
manage things like antisocial behavior. It'd mean they could tell
people to leave a bus interchange or the area around
a bus stop if they're being aggressive or pose a
(01:35):
safety risk, while police would also be able to remove
those people if they don't comply. The Health Minister has
confirmed additional home care packages will be released for older Australians.
The government's caving to coalition pressure to get the legislation
through the Senates, Mark Butler saying it will put pressure
on the budget, but we have an aging population.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
That will mean there will be twenty thousand additional home
care packages released between now and the end of October.
Speaker 1 (02:05):

for locals heading two coughs and vice versa.
Speaker 4 (02:44):
We will see a lot of people from that region
come down to Canberra to see national attractions, Floriad all
those sort of activities which bring people into our city,
which is great economically and great for the tourism sector.

I'm so proud of the town of Bungindor and the businesses,
the people, the community organizations that make it what it
is and to actually have it recognized on the national
stage in that way is a really well deserved recognition
of a fabulous community.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
