This week we sparked up Salt Lake City Fumes by September Solventless, a cured rosin batter that came in smooth but left us wondering if the flavor took the day off. It’s a sativa-leaning hybrid clocking around 63% THC, with top terps like Limonene, β-Caryophyllene, β-Pinene, and β-Myrcene. On paper, it sounds like a citrus-spiced dream. In practice? More like parsley met mint and decided to start a lawn-care business.

The high hits fast and focused — pressure behind the eyes, light tension across the forehead — then mellows into an easy, functional calm. Not bad for a wake-and-bake or a mid-day creative boost, but it definitely lacks that terp-punch we expect from a solventless. We’d call it “fine, not fire.”

While the strain didn’t wow our taste buds, the episode did turn into an impromptu joint-rolling masterclass. Brandon dove into his tenth-joint learning curve, Jesse compared it to an art class, and somehow we ended up breaking down Amsterdam rolling techniques while trying not to tear the papers. By the end, we actually pulled off some decent Js — proof that persistence (and sticky fingers) pay off.

Flavor aside, Salt Lake City Fumes did its job — chill enough to keep the vibes steady while we learned, talked technique, and philosophized about the art of the perfect roll.

Overall vibe: calm, clear, slightly grassy.

Flavor score: 4/10.

(00:00):
Welcome to Cannabis School. I'm your host, Jesse Angeles.
And I'm Brandon Elder. And we're here to talk to you
about everything pertaining to cannabis from vape.
Flour. Edibles, strains, and everything
in between. But.
Today we are smoking God. Salt Lake City fumes.
Yeah, this is September. Solvents or Sept Solvent?

(00:23):
Solvent less. It's kind of weird.
It's a. Oh holy cow.
Like sneezes? So this one, weirdly enough, not
a lot of flavor. You know what flavors I get?
Grassy and almost like hay tones.
Very earthy notes. Oh yeah, almost like a parsley.

(00:43):
It's a bit bitter. Yeah, like but.
It's like, almost like. Like if I mixed up parsley in a
mint. Yeah, like it's very weird.
It's very strange. Unique flavor Top terps on this
are limiting linalol, beta carafleen, beta pinene, and beta
miracine. Sativa leaning.

(01:03):
Yeah. Yeah, very clear, not super
strong. Yet 63% THC so not crazy high
for solvent like for concentrate.
No good beginner Sativa. Yeah.
Maybe a wake and Baker. We'll have to see how that's a
bitter taste. Yeah.

(01:24):
It's not for so this is a solventless one.
This is a cured resin batter resin, not a rosin.
So wait wait. That's why this one listed there
says a rosin. That one is a resin.
So the resins not solventless resins.
Maybe their name is just sapt solventless because.

(01:48):
It's a really rough taste. Yeah, unique.
We're also going to be rolling JS.
Yeah, after Bijan's visit. He just.
Yeah, he he is a master roller. And that was like the best
experience smoking that. I keep always say because it's
against my religion to relight. Yeah.
I was like, yeah, it's fucking OG.

(02:10):
I know it was amazing. I was blown away with.
Dude those were the tightest rolled joints.
They were so tight, I was reallyimpressed.
I was just blown away. So I got really bored the other
afternoon and said Brandon, you need to sit down and learn to
roll. So I went to the store and got

(02:31):
some tips and some papers and sat down and decided I was going
to roll some or you know, try and teach myself to roll and it
was an adventure. I'd say I'm probably about 10
joints in to this journey of hand rolling.
Yeah, I think I got the right amount.
So so far, I feel this very muchin my face, straight to the

(02:54):
head. Forehead.
Yeah, I feel on the back of my head too.
Yep, at the base of my skull. Almost like someone's trying to
do a necktie and wrestling like grab it on the back of my neck,
trying to pull my head down. That's how I feel.
Interesting. I mean that and I'm trying to
roll a joint. Right.
So Jesse, is this your first attempt at a hand rolled joint?

(03:15):
No. I've tried several times.
I got decent for a very ugly asshigh school looking fucking
joint. Roll yeah.
But yeah, it is. It is an art, yes, and it is not
as easy as one would think. Now it takes practice.

(03:37):
Yeah. And you start to learn about
where you want to be able to place your fingers and how you
want this to kind of work out. So yeah.
Yeah, it's true. It takes a minute to like
navigate it, figure it out. And the paper's so soft, too, so
you have to really be careful. Yeah, I tore one of them

(04:00):
yesterday just in a tiny spot while trying to fold it up.
And I was like, Oh no, I'm trying.
To make it too long, that's why.So the most reported effects of
Salt Lake City fumes are actually calm, happy, relaxed
and energetic. I could.
I could agree with that. I think it's pretty spot on.

(04:22):
Energetic. No, but.
It's pretty relaxed, pretty calm.
Yeah, I mean, it's, it's calm enough to like, try and fucking
attempt this shit. Do you feel like it's overly
happy? No, I don't either.
It's interesting that that's oneof the most reported or like one
of the reported effects. Maybe it settles in with that.

(04:43):
I'm just like where it's at right now.
It's it's fine. It's not a bad strain.
I'm not impressed with the flavor.
No. At all.
And with concentrates, usually concentrates have incredible
flavors, yeah. Something I'm a little
disappointed in with this. Definitely.
I do like the experience, but flavors for concentrates?

(05:03):
I mean it's kind of where I'm at.
Dude that is the most pathetic looking.
Whatever. I'm going to try.
I'm going to start over. Yeah, yeah.
But no, I really the if I was going to explain this strain
right now, I could see getting asativa headache from this.
I'm already starting to feel a little bit on the sides.
If for those of you don't know about sativa headaches, sativa

(05:26):
headaches can be for those who frequent sativas consistently.
Or high doses. Extremely high doses.
I am a high dose sativa user typically but yeah this one is
abnormally pressure. Like almost like it's like
headband but not in the best way.
I don't mind this experience, but I wouldn't say this would be

(05:49):
a go to. Yeah, I almost have like a
irritating pressure on my right temple.
Yep, that's exactly. Which is interesting because
this is calm and relaxed. That is impressive.
Right like 1010 joints ish or so.
Like it's not too bad. And and then usually what I do
is I kind of. Pinch it and roll it.

(06:11):
Well, not yeah, I kind of. You work it down.
Work it down so it's a little tighter and I found that if I do
it nice, I don't get a canoe I it rolls really smooth.
So do you roll that paper over the top of of your your filter?
Mm Hmm. Yeah, after I so the I watched a

(06:32):
video put out by the owner of RAW.
Hopefully it'll be in the comments.
Below, yeah, I'll, I'll put a a link there below.
But basically he would put the flower in and he does this thing
where he works it from the OR the filter.
And so he goes like this with the paper and starts there and

(06:53):
shapes it the whole way down from the filter down.
And that end up being a much easier method to for me.
But because Bijan had said he learned in Amsterdam, I looked
up online how to roll in Amsterdam.
But in Amsterdam they do what's called the inside out method.

(07:13):
OK. So they roll a little different.
So that paper that you're looking at right now, you can
see that the sticky side is on the inside.
Yeah. In Amsterdam, they take that
paper and they flip it inside out because the reason why is
they when they roll it, they lick that sticky part and only

(07:34):
put the paper to there. So it's left with this flap
hanging off and they tear it. So it actually burns less paper.
It's supposed to be healthier, it's supposed to supposed to be
roll better or whatever, but it's also supposed to be a way
harder way to roll. So I tried that at 1st and then
I went and watched the rock roller guy.
He wasn't rolling that way. He was just rolling like we are

(07:56):
and so I was like fuck it and I tried that and I was able to
roll it. So I just have been trying that
way but I'm going to dump it back into the grinder and grab a
new paper because it's just likeslowly working it and shaping
the flour. And so I had first tried it with
my already been vaped flour and I didn't like it because it

(08:19):
doesn't shape very well because it's dry, this sticky flower.
And I was like, oh shit, is thiswhat it's like working with
Colorado bud? Like this is got to be terrible
trying to roll AJ with this because everything we have is
always so sticky. Yeah, so I just is very
interesting. But that's kind of what I did.
I just tore apart a bunch of papers after, you know, kind of

(08:41):
rolled it. So how I could do tore apart,
grabbed a new paper. It's been quite the interesting
journey, but I realize that it'sworth it because if I'm ever in
a pinch and out and about and all I have is some papers.
Well, I got to say, I mean, you know, when we smoked with Bijan,
it was a really awesome experience.

(09:01):
Joints, you know, there's a, a friend of mine, he's like, I
only smoke joints and I'm like, I get that, But I, I like all of
cannabis. I love it all.
So I'm not a, I'm not a racist. Nope, no segregation.
We'll take them all. Yeah, but still, like, you know,

(09:22):
there's just something about a really good rolled joint.
Yeah, the thing I find is sometimes after I roll AJ and
dump out the bud, I actually have to break apart the shape of
the flower because it's so sticky that it's just held in
that joint shape, which can be afantastic problem to have.
All right, so the pain in my temple has subsided.

(09:45):
It's. So not a great onset.
It's pretty calm, yeah. I'd agree it's not a chatty
strain by any means. It's just a normal hybrid, not
impressive flavor. See if I can get this.
What would this be good for I. Don't know you'd be hard pressed
to get me to spend money on thisthough.

(10:07):
Yeah, it's it's not bad. It's not my favorite.
Like nothing to write home about.
And that's the thing, you know, one of the one of the things
about when you're, when you're agrower, when you're a producer
and you're trying to come up with things that people actually
want to, you know, smoke. Yeah.
You're going to miss sometimes and you're going to get some

(10:29):
real good winners and you're going to get some big ass losers
too. And that's the really difficult
part, I think about cannabis is that Lenny and Bijan had said
it, you know, yeah, you could have like a bomb strain and
everybody loves it. But then it could be a point
where people go, yeah, I'm done because.
It's like wedding cake. Wedding cake was one of the top

(10:51):
sellers for so long and now it'sgone because it's been so
overdone, so over, you know, people are bored with it now.
They want something different past cake, so.
Which is hard because I mean, for, for cannabis consumers, you
know, we, we are just, we're fickle now.
Back in the day, you'd be down for anything that came your way.

(11:15):
Because that's what you got. Yeah, and now?
Here we are, I mean we are particular and we kind of talked
about that because nerath over it, Dragonfly called us out and
I mean I. Big time nerath, I shout out.
Big shout out. Jesse.
Jesse called me and he was like, hey, I was talking to Nerath and
he was asking if we were yakking.

(11:36):
Someone jumps because we shed all over disties.
And we realized, Oh yeah, we arewe.
Totally, we're sure. Someone jumps.
We'll be getting some more disties for the episodes, just
so you guys know that we're not,you know we.
I we're trying it all. Yeah.
I mean, we still do carts every once in a while for a standby,

(11:58):
but you know, we got to also understand that you guys are in
different areas. And different budgets,
different, different goals that you're trying to accomplish.
And sometimes when you go into adispensary, you're looking for a
different thing. And so that's OK.
You know, we're going to try andbe better at navigating that
aspect of it because we've just tried to find what we enjoy.

(12:20):
And that's not really what the show's about.
So hell yeah, man, Look at that. You got AJ.
Not bad. That's pretty good.
All right, so. Fill that out real quick.
Oh wait, A. Minute you got you see how I'm
I'm slowly rolling it from the end to end.
Oh, I like and I and you just gothrough and you and you flatten
out every spot that's up and youjust this is what he did in the

(12:44):
raw 1. He starts down here at the end
near the filter and he just rolls the paper up and down with
his, pinches it with his fingersto shape the bud and then he
slowly moves and goes through itto shape the bud into a perfect
thing. Oh, and then you just keep.
Tucking it, and then after, onceyou get it all perfect, then you
go back and tuck it and it holdsway better because your flower's

(13:06):
already in this perfect shape. So then you tuck your filter in
a little, so it's a bit tighter on your filter, and then, yeah.
And then you come back and tuck it.
This is where I struggle. My tuck isn't as always as tight
as I want it to be. That's what she said, Yeah.
So and then you get that and kind of tuck it up along and I

(13:28):
kind of just do this as I go andlet it take its shape over time,
kind of make it and it'll mine always sticks out the end 'cause
I tap it down 'cause that's whatI saw Bijan doing.
And I was like, OK, so if I fillit up nice, I can just kind of
tap it down to hopefully get it.So you just.
Roll the. Whole thing just very slowly
from the bottom and kind of shape it as I go.

(13:50):
But see, now all I've got is that left.
But look at my shape. That's fucking yeah.
That's a good looking joint. And then I hold it down at my
filter to try and keep mine's not.
Bad. But that's fucking awesome,
Doug. So yeah.
And you're right, you should putit directly from the grinder
into it. It's just it was easier for me
to like dump what I needed into it and then not not have to

(14:12):
worry. But and then look at that,
that's that's like a cone. Dude that's a really good
looking. Joint and oh, it's not all the
way sticky yeah so I've been just messing around with these
trying to master being able to hand roll because I realized
that I might I I really enjoyed that experience.

(14:33):
Oh man, it. Was amazing and I love joints
when I go hiking or camping and stuff and.
It's better to have like a really good roll joint.
Yeah, they always roll better. All the ones that I've been
doing, they don't canoe the samelike but all the cones that I've
been buying and filling, even trying to pack them down nicely,
they would end up canoeing half the time.

(14:54):
What do you guys think? I mean, I know I got that tip on
there, but it's not bad. I bet it will smoke just fine.
Though Yeah, I think, I mean, it's it's just.
A shorter J. Yeah, it's well and that's good
for me. I I can enjoy like a A1 gram.
I'm not, I'm not that well. I could now after that stint
with with Bichon, 'cause he justkept rolling and passing.

(15:18):
Great time, I loved that. Yeah, it was great.
It was a wonderful one. I.
Smoked 2 joints before we playedracing last night.
Oh dude, I should have a joint would have been so awesome.
You got to race today, dude, because.
Race today. I rolled one when you were at
the gym or something, you're like, oh, maybe we'll play
around 7:30 or 8:00. And I was like, OK, so then I

(15:38):
smoked one maybe about 6:50 or so, and then it gets about 7:30
and I'm like, I still got time. It doesn't take me that long to
roll a joint. Now.
I could roll a joint real quick and go smoke it.
And so I rolled a joint and ran out back and smoked it real
fast. I was like, oh man, it was

(15:59):
perfect. Dude, this is, I'm going to put
that in something and smoke thattonight.
I'm very proud of myself. I want to keep practicing.
Yeah. So just, you know, that's what
I've been doing sitting down. I like those little filters that
those are such so worth it. Yeah.
'Cause they're firm, yeah. But look at that, got a little
fatty. Dude, oh man.

(16:19):
And it feels pretty like feels. Perfect.
Yeah, it's dense enough. No.
Canoeing because it's so dense it burns slower.
It like doesn't canoe. I get decently high.
Put some cold OH. Put some concentrating.
On this bad boy get get like thethinner one of these, we got

(16:44):
shit load of them and then just sit there and just keep trying
to canoe it out and then just get something, put it in the
freezer, put some butter in there, put in the freezer and
then just kind of shape. It shape it, maybe in some wax
paper. Yeah, because it's really cold.
Put it on wax paper. Yeah, yeah.
Well, it into a fine little thing and then stick it in the

(17:04):
center of the flour. And then, yeah.
So lay out your paper, put your flour down, put the concentrate
in the center of it, and then your shaping and rolling.
Yeah, I got to do that. That sounds like a great.
Yeah, you got to do that with that one.
Yeah, I know. I'll have to tear it apart.
Yeah, that sounds great. Sounds horrible, why would you
do that? Well, it's just a paper though.
And then it's practice and I look at it and I was like a pack

(17:28):
of papes was maybe like $3 or a couple bucks.
But that for me to practice one of these is 32 papers.
That's 32 times to practice a joint.
And this is this is maybe 11 or 12 now that I have rolled and
pretty impressive. That I do like that though, from
here and then just go in here like this and just kind of work

(17:49):
in it, yeah. It just it kind of helps it
then. Then you just turn this one.
Yeah, I get that's. Yeah.
I like that size of joint like these smaller stubby ones that
that's. Well, that's why I gave you also
the juicy J's because these are the king size.
These are king. Oh, I like.
That I mean, is it, is it decent?

(18:11):
Yeah, I think it'll smoke just fine.
I think it'll smoke great. And see, all I would do if you
ever is just kind of finagle just the top of it, like pinch
your flower down just a wee bit because it'll just tighten up
your joint. And then there you go.
Look at that. Nice look at that.
Yeah, like how much room we shave down.

(18:31):
Into Oh yeah dude, look at. That.
That'll be a nice little joint, man.
Oh, that's perfect. That's fantastic.
Dude this has been awesome. Yeah, this is a, This is.
A It's OK strain. I like it as it settles down,
it's just mellow. That flavor though.
But. It's fine.
It's nothing. Yeah.
I'm sorry, I mean even for concentrates.

(18:54):
Maybe it's just a strain. You don't taste anything at
first but the after taste. You have to hunt for the flavor
to try and pick out that grassy.Once you mentioned hay.
But it took me a minute to find it.
I was like having to exhale differently and try and taste it
as a roll across my tongue. It was kind of gave me a
headache. I don't enjoy that part.

(19:15):
We will not smoke these inside. Last time this room took a week
to. Tear out?
Yeah, it was. It was like 4 days of me doing
incense and spraying vinegar. And did you try the potatoes?
Did that help at all? I did potatoes I think helped
probably. The the last part, yeah, that's
crazy. Yeah.
I don't know, guys. And tell us about that.

(19:37):
Like what kind of strains have you had that you had a great
experience on but it didn't taste great?
Or what's been your favorite strain so far this year?
Yeah, yeah. Let's go with that.
Best flavor, best experience? Yeah, drop it below.
And if you guys know of anybody who may be up to taking a test,

(19:59):
I don't know. They didn't study very well.
Yeah, and they're worried about passing it.
Yeah, well, we got some P you can play around with.
Yeah, if that's what you're into.
Synthetics 5 code down below. It's pretty cool.
This heats up all right, and we slide it back here.

(20:19):
Keeps it nice and warm. And the cool part is that
temperature gauge thing. Yeah.
It'll show you once it reaches like what's it 100° near 100?
Degrees, probably between. 90 and a. 106 yeah, if I had to
guess. But if it's, if it's, it's got
to be it'll, it'll get to that stage.
So it's ready and it's good for like 8 hours to stay like that

(20:43):
one. So you just take this bad boy
before you go take your test right into the testing center,
and then you just put it right here and.
Hang out, get the inspiration you need.
Yeah, and then, you know, let itdo its thing.
So Synthetics 5. Have a code below.
We'll have a code for this. We will not have a code for the
concentrate. Also, I mean if you're into hay

(21:06):
flavors or mild experiences. Or do you like?
It might be your little bit. Of a headache, yeah, give it a
shot. Yeah.
Other than that, it's a it's a miss for me.
I'm I'm not super overly impressed I didn't finish my
bowl and I don't intend to. It just was kind of a moot.
Oh my God. OK, I was a rookie mistake.

(21:27):
I thought this said cured resin,it is cured rosin batter.
And because as I was reading theprocessing method it said
solvent ice water, a solvent list.
And I was like, so this is disappointing for a solvent
list, but the only thing that tells me is the starting product
that went into it wasn't very good.

(21:48):
This has solvents. Yeah, solvent problems.
Solvents. You probably know this could be
worth 50,000 A. 100,000. 75,200 thousand.
Yes. How much do you make in here?
Yeah, code below. Alright guys.
