Wolf Hollow, officially the North American Wolf Foundation, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit wolf sanctuary located at 114 Essex Road in Ipswich, MA, just north of Boston. Under the stewardship of facility director Zee Soffron—whose father, Paul Soffron, founded the sanctuary—Wolf Hollow emphasizes education, advocacy, and immersive exposure to wolves as a means to reshape public perception. The current residents include seven pure wolves and one wolf‑dog hybrid, with ages ranging from roughly two to twelve years old; each animal has a unique story within the sanctuary’s pack system. Visitors are encouraged to witness the wolves’ natural behaviors—from howling to social pack dynamics—and leave with a refreshed understanding of their ecological importance as keystone species that help regulate ecosystems and support biodiversity. Whether you're gazing into a wolf's eyes for the first time or deepening your appreciation as a long-time fan, Wolf Hollow delivers an unforgettable and educational experience.
Since opening its doors as a sanctuary in 1990, Wolf Hollow has been passionately dedicated to rescuing and housing wolves, while educating visitors on the vital ecological roles these animals play. Guided tours are conducted on weekends, with opportunities for schools, families, and civic groups to engage closely with the wolves through educational presentations that demystify myths and foster a deeper connection to these often-misunderstood creatures The sanctuary’s idyllic five-acre setting includes a main enclosure sprawling 23,000 square feet, supplemented by four auxiliary enclosures, allowing for safe, comfortable habitation for both wolf packs and individual wolves when needed.
