(00:05):
There's a professional. Radio.
That's front wheel drive. Have you got anyone you want to
thank? Just myself.
And now I do the after hours, gentlemen.
What would you go for? They see us in.
There. OK, and because it's not a super

(00:29):
duck. It's not automatic.
Perfection comes in the form of 2 letters A&U.
Long away of my Ltd. Welcome to Car Talk.
It's Tuesday night here at 98.9 NW FM.
It's me, Maddie J in the studio with Mr Chad de Bell.
How are you doing, Chad? Welcome back.

(00:50):
Hello, Thank you very much. I'm good.
Online with the one and only Scudido Johnson.
How are you mate? I'm doing well.
Thank you very much. Very good.
Good to see you, boys. Good to see you, Chad.
Boxer, thank you. How was the motherland?
The motherland was pretty good. Yeah, it was, you know, it was
hot. It was bloody hot.
Looked. Like it was hot.
There's, yeah, some might say there's a, you know, it's on

(01:13):
fire. No.
Yeah, a bit of a heat wave, but no, it was good.
It was really good. You know, I did a lot of
interesting car spotting, you know, looking at weird, weird
and wonderful models that they've got 2 door Corollas, 2
door focuses, 2 door Swifts. Nothing that we get here
obviously. Yeah, no, it was really good.
You know, driving over there wasa whole other ball game.

(01:35):
Obviously it's, it's like just, it's a free for all, everyone,
everyone's just trying to get towhere they're going and no
regard for anything else. But, you know, somewhat, I was
less stressed driving over therethan I was in Melbourne, which
is weird. Yeah, example.
Example. So nobody follows the rules.

(01:55):
Yeah, therefore there are no rules.
Therefore, everyone kind of justgives each other a little bit of
space. So that's kind.
Of good I it is, yeah. It's which I thought was weird.
I'm like, I'm going to hate it because nobody follows.
No, actually it kind of works. It's like when there are no
rules, then everybody's on a playing field, on a level

(02:16):
playing field and everyone just kind of gives each other a
little bit of wiggle room and itsomehow works out.
But here, as soon as one person doesn't follow the rules, all
hell breaks loose, right? Like they, you know, they end up
cutting across the lane and thencutting off 4 people or
something, right? There's, there's potentially 4
people being injured or you know, whatever, like affected by

(02:37):
it. But over there people just do
what they want. So you just go, yeah, stuff it,
whatever. You know, I'm just, I'm just not
going to pay attention because it's it's happening.
It's happening 24/7. Therefore you can't just get
upset about someone not indicating or about someone
cutting you off. You just, you know, you just
kind of go, yeah, you know, whatever it is, what it is, I'm
just going to keep just, you know, just be aware.

(03:00):
But everybody's way more aware. That's what I've also noticed.
Everyone just goes. Who's actually paying attention?
Yes, but also also being on their phone 24/7 as well.
So like people literally just stare at their phone and drive.
And on top of that, they'll be like speeding, they'll be
drinking a coffee at the same time.

(03:21):
They're they're changing gears with the other hand.
Like it's, that's wild. It is pandemonium, but through
chaos there's some sort of like clarity and everyone, you know,
I didn't see a single accident and I drive for, I don't know,
maybe 2 1/2 thousand kilometres.The whole time I was there, I
did a fair bit of driving and like, I felt way more, you know,

(03:46):
in control of the things around me, yeah, than I would over
here. Yeah, Yeah.
Which I thought was really weirdbecause I didn't.
I don't think I should have feltthat.
No, I. Don't know what it is, but you
know, shout outs Turkey for not having any rules and therefore,
you know, just like keeping the country going somehow.
And but yeah, look, I, I also did pop out over over to Greece

(04:10):
for a little while and that to, to, to, to Kanis, yes.
And that was like being in a whole other like world like that
was so different to Turkey at the same time.
Yes, close. It's so close.
But then see, you can see literally you can see if some
from some of the islands, you can see Turkey and somehow it's

(04:32):
just white, like worlds apart. And it's like, I actually hated
driving in Greece. Really, driving in Greece was
just so aggravating because nobody had any awareness of
anything going on. So there'd be a guy on an ATV
doing 30 on the on the freeway, on the highway, sorry because
you know, and there's like a line of 25 cars behind him just

(04:55):
holding up the whole world and not pulling over and nothing
like he was just, he was just inhis own world.
He's sipping A frappe cappuccinofor the Freddo cappuccino.
Sorry for my all our Greek viewers.
And, you know, looking at his phone while riding an ATV on the
road, no helmet with his girlfriend in the back, no

(05:17):
helmet. That's wild.
Yeah, it was just crazy. And it was, it was, yeah.
It was way, way more aggravatingthan, you know, driving in
Turkey somehow, which I thought would be the opposite because,
you know, Greece is in the EUI don't want to get political
here, but how are they in the EU?
First of all, it was chaos. Like everybody was just out to
do their own thing, but with no regards to anybody else, which

(05:38):
in Turkey it was similar, but people had an understanding of
what everyone else was trying todo.
So they would give each other, you know, breathing room and a
bit of space and kind of like, you know, letting people through
or whatever it is. Greece had none of that.
Greece was just like, yeah, it was just, it was chaos.
And my brother Jeff and Greece because like his.
His wife's Greek. Oh, right, Yeah.
Like they're all their families, you know, Greek.

(06:00):
Like Greek Greek. Yeah, like full faulty kindness.
Christos and SD Greek go like like full, full on yeah, you
know Greek Greek. He's like I went there and he he
had a an Opal courser as. A Oh yeah, yeah.
Nice. And he's like, I still managed
to crash that he's. Like, oh.
My God. He he left it, I think he left
it, left it. He's put in the classroom and

(06:20):
rolled back and hit a. So he's like.
He's like, survived the whole trip without, without, he's
like. It's and they rolled back into
somebody. Back into somebody.
Oh no. Anyway, but but he's like, he's
like no one know what no one hasthe roads, like nobody does
anything. There No, no, no, no.
It's just like they're all relaxing.
Everything, yeah, literally just, there's no Rd works being
done because the guys are just standing around having a
cigarette and a coffee. There's just donkeys on the road

(06:42):
and like. It's.
It's, it's a weird, it's a weird, wonderful place.
But yeah, I don't recommend driving, you know, at all.
But yeah, no, look, I had a really good trip.
I was away for a little bit and I missed all the boys.
I missed talking crap about cars.
And yeah, I'm, I'm glad to be back.
Yeah, it's good. It's good.
To have back we we missed you onthe show.

(07:04):
We we we said numerous jokes about you and your uncle at Ford
in, you know, needing to get Robert Diff.
Yes, absolutely. So yeah.
So, so that that was that's all part of the experience.
Yes, it's definitely there's AJ2holiday too short.
But yeah, it's good to have you back mate, really.

(07:27):
You know, it's you know there's a big Chad shaped hole when
you're not young so. No, thank you.
So. It's, it is good.
It's good to have you back and, and hopefully, hopefully the
trip went well. Hopefully you know, you got to
see you. You're assuming you saw all your
family. I did, yeah.
I saw family there and I, that was probably about a week worth
of travelling with families, like seeing them.

(07:49):
And then the rest of it was just, yeah, me and my wife just
sort of like sightseeing and which I hadn't even done and
really myself in Turkey. So I got to see a lot of stuff
that I haven't seen before. And Greece was obviously, yeah,
it was a, a whole new experiencefor me because I'd never been to
Greece and, you know, being on an island and all that, sort of
like I, I, we went to Rhodes, which was just one of the
biggest islands that they've gotthere.

(08:10):
And yeah, it was, it was a supercool experience seeing some
literally 1000 year old things and buildings that are still
like somehow together. And yeah, it was really, it was
an incredible experience. And yeah, yeah, I'd.
I'd actually love to go because like, there's just so much
history like in, especially in in.
Just in the end, like, it's just, yeah, exactly.

(08:33):
There's a lot of crossover, too, like between them and, you know,
they all invaded each other's countries.
They all lived in the same placeand they all ate, ate, you know,
the food was so similar and, youknow, like the, the the cultures
are so similar in some sense andthen so far away from each other
at the same time. Yeah.
No, it was super, super cool experience.

(08:53):
I really definitely recommend everybody to check them out.
Yeah. Yeah, that's just the Log Turk
room. Yeah, yeah, I bet, man.
I'm. I'm keen to get over there at
some point. Absolutely.
I can recommend a few things, yeah.
Please do and I'll. I'll go to the Ford factory,
speak to your uncle, and yeah, and bring it back wrong.
No, we can figure that out. Scotty Doe, how you doing, man?

(09:16):
Yeah, pretty good. It's just plugging away.
It's doing a huge with work. With work very good.
Any holidays planned? No, nothing planned.
It's. All right, So nothing as
exciting as Chad's experience. He's a good holiday to to to
Turkey. Nothing as awesome as that.

(09:37):
Well, we'll get on with some carupdates.
Scotty. We'll start with you, man.
Updates with you, brother. What's happening?
Not so much on the car front, but leading towards that.
So since I've got the shed up and everything, I've started to
put some things in the shed and get that all sorted, which means

(09:57):
the garage is looking a lot moreemptier.
So at the moment there's two cars sitting in there.
So we've got the Blade and the Insight in there.
OK. So it can fit 2 cars in there
now and so. Does this mean the 31 can
possibly sneak home? Yeah, it can.
So I just got to move a couple more things because I've still

(10:20):
got plenty of room left in the shed and just tidy it up a bit
in in the garage to make it a little bit neater.
So I kind of just stack things on the back for now until I
realise where I want to, where Iwant to put it and get nice and
tidy and then yeah, it can. It can live in there.
Yeah, nice. And then you can, you can chip
away at it, do things. Yep, do all the little bits and

(10:43):
pieces that I want to and take it out now and again and give it
a run to work sometimes. Yeah, that's the aim.
But yeah, it's a bit more roomier in there than I thought.
So yeah, our two cars fit in there nicely, Yeah.
That's exciting. That's your updates.
Chat updates with you man. So car updates, I didn't manage

(11:07):
to do a whole lot before I left to go overseas.
I Yeah, well, what now? 4 weeks ago, I can't remember
what I did, but. So I got back last week and I've
been trying to plug away some little bits and pieces and I had
the Mercedes at the paint shop, which unfortunately, and thanks

(11:30):
to you, Maddie, I was able to, you know, with your help, I
would be able to get a relay andall that sort of stuff to get it
going. And unfortunately, yeah.
So that that actually ended up being the issue, I think, which
ended up being well, no, it wasn't.
So I think my relay that I pulled out of the Mercedes was
broken, but it was just the the outside was broken.

(11:51):
I think so. But I, I thought, you know,
maybe if I get a new relay mighthelp, but it didn't, but that's
OK. It's still good to have those as
I found out, they're very sort of sought after, especially the
especially OEM ones. They're very sought after and
it's just good to have a spare anyway.
So yeah, thank you for that. I really appreciate you, you

(12:12):
know, digging around for that. And then so I, I went back to
the Mercedes, I think the the second day after I got back and
I just, you know, did did some tests.
I made sure, you know, it wasn'tthe realise and then I tried to
see if, you know, the only otherthing that I could think was the
fuel pump. So I was not able to hear the
fuel pump, fuel pump prime at all.

(12:34):
It was making no sound. So I borrowed a, a multimeter
from a business next door and I tested, you know, the
connections to the fuel pump andit was getting power even though
it was low because the battery was a bit, you know, it's down
on amps and whatnot, but it was getting power.
So I thought, well, you know, there's power there, so
therefore there should be fuel, the pump working.

(12:55):
But I think the fuel pump had had it.
So I, I sourced a new one from aplace in Tullamarine called
Jeez. So they, they, they work with
Swan with fuel pumps and they, Ithink they're a distributor or a
supplier for Swan. So I was able to get one for a

(13:16):
really good price because, you know, Repco had one and it was
an exorbitant amount that I justwas not able, I was, couldn't
justify. So, you know, I found one for a
really good price and I placed in Tallamain and, you know, I
was a little kit that comes withall the stuff you need, all the
connectors. I went back yesterday and I
fitted the new fuel pump and yeah, that was it.

(13:39):
And the, the car fired straight up.
Basically I, I drained the fuel that was in the tank and I put
some fresh like 10 litres of fresh feel in it.
And the first crank, it was justup and running and I was like,
wow. I just, I really expected it to
be a bigger struggle than that. But thankfully, yeah, that
seemed to be it. So now that, you know, the the

(14:00):
car is able to be moved by its own power, the the painter said,
you know, he'll get onto it and he'll, he'll start working on
it. So awesome.
Yeah, fingers crossed within thenext couple of weeks I think it
should be done. At least it'll be in primer and
then I can sort out hopefully delivery for it and get it

(14:22):
wrapped and all that stuff. And yeah, but obviously once the
paint's done, it's still got a lot of work to do.
There's a lot of mechanical stuff that needs to sort of be
sorted out, you know, bushings and I didn't notice.
Hey, it's an old car. It's an old car.
Yeah, there's this 40 years worth of, you know, work that
sort of needs to be, you know, caught up on basically.
So yeah, that that was a really good.

(14:44):
That was really good. It really got me like cheated up
to, you know, keep going with the car, which is, you know, is
kind of what I want and yeah, sothat that was good.
I also had dropped the the Magnato A to a a place for a
roadworthy and I did that yesterday and I heard back from

(15:08):
the I heard back today and unfortunately there's a bit of
work that the magnet needs. And one of those things turns
out is the transmission because it's just leaking out of every
orifice possible for the transmission.
So the transmission I've reachedout to Andrew Wigglesworth shout

(15:30):
out maybe listening right now. Maybe.
Oh, it's awesome. It's coming in.
Oh, perfect. That's amazing.
Well, definitely here for that. So yeah, Andrew said he will
reach out to a few people about it and I'll get back to me.
So currently I'm just waiting onthat as the, as the point of
whether I go ahead because without a transmission, it's not

(15:52):
going to go anywhere obviously, but also the price of a
transmission is the other. The factor is, you know, if it's
going to cost 3 grand or whatever, then it's, you know,
I'm, I'm thinking I just, I'll cut my losses sort of thing with
the car. But apart from that, look, it's
just mainly maintenance. It's maintenance, it's brakes,
it's it's front suspension, it'sa rocker cover gasket.

(16:16):
It is a thermostat, it's a oil, oil pressure sender, a switch.
Sorry. And I think was that the list
that I sent the belts, couple ofyeah, the three Dr belts and
that would be that's genuine. Maintenance.
It is genuine maintenance and there's maintenance that
probably has never had in the life of that car because it's
only got 50,000 KS on it. So it's not like anyone would
have done those things ever. So you know, apart from the

(16:40):
transmission being a bit how yougoing at the moment, the rest of
the stuff is pretty reasonable. I already got a new set of tyres
on it anyway, so just in case that, you know, the, the
transmission is a thing that I can go ahead with.
We will, yeah, we'll, we'll sortit out.
And as long as I can get a reasonably priced transmission,
I, I don't see why not that I just get everything, all of it

(17:02):
done. And, and you know, the guy who,
who you recommended a Goodyear. And yeah, he's, he's, he's
looking after me and he's prettyhonest.
He's really honest. And, but he's also like, he's
reasonable because he's like, you know, this is needed for
safety. The other things, you know,
whatever it's, it's kind of cosmetic.
So we are able to, you know, letit slide or whatever.
And, but yeah, no, he, he was really good.

(17:23):
And, and at the same time, I'd, I'd dropped off the I-30 today
to get a new set of tyres. So I've got a new brand new set
of PS4 SS by Michelin he orderedin for me, got them all fitted,
new wheel alignment and all thatgood stuff.
So that car is, you know, ready, ready to be doing daily duties

(17:43):
again, which is good. And I think, yeah, that's,
that's about my updates, pretty sure.
I, I think I feel like I've filled in a fair bit of time in
the last week trying to get all this stuff done.
So yeah, no, it's been a busy week for me with us.
Well, I think if we can get likea transfer under 500.
Yeah, I think that would be legal go, yeah.
Yeah, absolutely. So I think we can do that

(18:06):
because like French shocks are. Not much for that.
Yeah, exactly. And then most of it's just
genuine, like brakes maintenance.
On yeah, it's stuff that needs to be done for a decent sized
trip like to Adelaide anyway, soit's stuff that I would have
done anyway whether it was picked up on Roadworthy or not.
But yeah, the other stuff, yeah, the transmission is the biggest
one unfortunately. So we'll, we'll see.
Yeah, so we'll have to get that trans ordered.

(18:27):
We'll see if we can get a cheap one 'cause I think they're all
the same. They're the four 4 speed.
Order, Yeah, the four speed order.
I, I I don't know whether the models after the TS and stuff
have the same automatics or we'll see I guess.
Yeah, if they if it's compatible, then why not, you
know? Yeah, well.
Thing rules his connection, yes,he wrecks them.

(18:47):
And he knows what you know. He's a specialist.
He's the guy, Yeah, he's. The guy, so he'd be the guy in
the node. When it comes to Magnus, yeah,
yeah, and. Like the fact that they said
it's a bit ready but don't worryabout the body.
It's just like just get those few things on.
Quite literally it's just maintenance items except for the
trans. Yeah, it's brake suspension,
tyres and then, yeah, a massive leak from the transmission,
which would, you know, it would be definitely picked up on or it

(19:10):
would potentially cause a serious thing on the road
anyway. So that's fair enough, I think,
yeah. So so we we get a cheap cheap
trans for it I think. Happy days.
Yeah, absolutely genuine. Yeah.
Watch this space. Watch your space.
Edward Bunting has joined us. How are you, Edward?
Well yes, I have joined you. It was lovely of you to send the
invite. I did.

(19:30):
You did not. I did.
Dave, I drink David, who's not even here to get the invite to
send to me. Scotty, how did you get the
invite? I'm like, it's through Facebook.
Yeah, I sent it on Facebook. Yeah, it's on the.
It's on the page Adam. It's on the group chat.
I usually get an email every week.
No email, email. OK, how about how about you do

(19:51):
what you do every other week andgive me an email?
How about that? Sorry, Edward, how about some
consistency? From the show.
Sorry, Edward, I, I, I. I I'm sitting here like an
idiot. Hey, which car were you just
talking about then, Chad? The magnetron.
Oh, please tell me, tell me moreabout the magneton summary.
I heard brakes and transmission. What did I hear that?

(20:11):
Yeah, unfortunately it needs potentially a new transmission
or at least a rebuild of the current one, which why it's just
it's leaking like a sieve out ofthe out of the torque converter
apparently, which has got something to do with the pump of
the transmission. Oh yeah, 'cause that training
beautifully, that was lovely. Yeah.

(20:33):
But yeah, no, I don't. Yeah, I don't know.
It might have just happened fromme driving to the to the shop
yesterday. I don't know if it's just been
sitting and it's is it is. It shifting fine.
Look, it's shifting OK, but it'sit's leaking.
So something's going on there, but it's definitely
unfortunately I was not able to arrange that for a roadworthy

(20:55):
with that leak. So I have to, you know, look
into, you know, a, a replacementof the transmission because I
think you've been trying to get parts for it as a.
Can you? Yeah.
What seal or something? Just like RTV everywhere.
RTV just the the whole thing. It's, yeah, I would think that's

(21:17):
fixable, yeah. I mean, look, yeah, I can only
go by what the mechanic has said, but definitely.
Yeah. Well, but it it's, you're taking
the whole thing apart. It's like pretty much a rebuild
at that. Point yeah and like the the
rebuild is the biggest money part of it so even slapping at a
second hand 1 is probably going to be the the most the more

(21:37):
cheap option, which you know you'd hope it's a good good unit
that's going in but obviously the other.
One fixed. Anyway, like that you got the
other one fixed or something? Yeah.
So it's, yeah, it's a little. Bit of work to how was that and
brakes? Yeah, brake suspension, couple
of Dr belts and yeah, block rocker cover leak and the the
rocker cover gasket leak and that's it really.

(21:57):
That's all it needs. The Dings and stuff.
It's you know, they're gonna pretend not to see it, which is
nice. Is that the some of the dents
are? Yeah, it's a bit of a, it's,
it's a grey area. Yeah, you know, but yeah, it's
everything else. Yeah, everything else seems to
be OK. Our new exhaust muff muffler for

(22:18):
the round. That's about it, yeah.
Well, that, I mean, none of all of that stuff was reasonably
expected except the trans. I don't, yeah, I don't recall it
like when it was sitting in Tom's garage or whatever,
leaking at all. Yeah, yeah, I mean, I didn't see
it either. I didn't see any leaks on my
driveway. But yeah, it's gone to the shop

(22:38):
and it's. Is it pissing on the ground?
Yeah, yeah. I even when I had it parked on
the street as I was talking to the guys, I looked, I came back
to it and it was just, there wasa puddle of it.
A little puddle, not huge, but enough for it to be an active
lake. Yeah.
Yeah. So we know it's not.
They're not making it up. No, no.
Yeah, the guys were fairly straightforward about it too, so

(23:01):
yeah, but. Yeah, there isn't just
maintenance. Yeah, pretty much as I.
Said We got a transport I think,I think under 500 bucks for a
second in trans and you happy? Days.
Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
We're also joined by Rob Zadai. How are you, Rob?
Good, thanks. Just technical problems again.
That's right. That's.
Did you get the email invite, Rob?
No. No, neither these.

(23:23):
Thanks guys. All right, it's OK.
No, thank you, Matt. Thank you.
Any anytime, Matt. I had to disturb David in his
committee meeting. You're kidding.
Just to get access to this show.I know what it's like.
That's how dedicated I am. Hey, let's Edward, do you do you
not have access to Facebook Messenger?

(23:44):
Matt always sends it via email. Yeah, I always send both.
Does both but but I was. Well.
Didn't do both tonight. Yeah.
OK. All right.
I'm sorry. I'm sorry you made your point.
All right. What's the next segment?
Well, we still we still have thecar, car dates still on the
same. Segment on the same segment.
So car dates with you, Edwards. With me, the Wasp has been to

(24:05):
the panel shop. The Wasp has come back from the
panel shop. It has a resprayed rear bar and
some repainted mirror caps because they were a little bit
faded. So it's luk and schmick.
I've booked the rego appointmentfor October the 1st so I just
need to get my little roadie before then.
What else, What else, what else? The moke is leaking from the

(24:28):
rear main seal, so it it too Chad is leaving a little puddle
where I park it. There you go, puddles
everywhere. It's always, I mean, it's
British, so it's always leaked alittle bit, but it's gotten
worse from that, from that area,so.
You know what they say, if it's leaking, it's still got oil in
it. Still got oil exactly so I'm.

(24:48):
Yeah, that's yeah. I'm a little, I'm a little bit
like, oh, that probably means gearbox off and rear main seal
and whatever. That's yeah, that's a that's a
maybe that's a nice summer job for Ed.
I feel the 380 SEL has had a bitof AI think I mentioned it.
It had a bit of bit of a shakedown.
I did drive it for a did I mention that last time?

(25:09):
I think I drove it for a weekendand yeah, it just got better and
better and I was like, oh, I really like this car.
So yeah, that that is in my garage and I'm gonna condition
the leather on it and do a few other little bits and bobs.
But but yeah, everyone really likes that car, as do I.
So I just as I said last time, Ithink I, I don't think I'm gonna
sell that. I think I'll sounds.

(25:31):
Like a keeper. Think I'll just find a space for
that somewhere. Life's all about pleasures isn't
it really? Or what brings you joy?
And that that car brings me joy so well it can stay absolutely.
What else, What else, what else, what else?
The Honda CR VS gone in to have the little Rd with the items it

(25:51):
needed done. So that was a few ball joints
and bushes and things, nothing crazy, maybe about a grand worth
of work and a few $100 worth of parts on top of that.
So that's in the shop. I took the Pajero up to the snow
over the weekend. Of course, that loves the snow,
so that was happy. My dad's Pajero though, here's

(26:13):
an interesting 1. So that's the newest in our
fleet of five family Pajeros, that being a 2018 build that's
just clocked 138,000 KS. So not crazy KS in anyone's book
for for one of those. The first issue which I might
have mentioned a few weeks back was it was making it's own oil.
As in the oil level was rising, which is usually a sign of

(26:37):
diesel or DPF burns not happening properly.
Diesel going into the sump and increasing the oil level,
therefore diluting your oil, therefore fucking your engine.
Excuse my language if you're notcareful.
So that that was sort of had a quick oil and philtre change at
1:30 thousand KS and then it it was being monitored.

(27:01):
So dad started about 8000K in the last month, which is is a
big trip to Queensland and back essentially.
So he's been monitoring the oil.He said look, it's just above
the high mark, you know, like ithas crept up a little bit but
it's nothing crazy alarming. So I'm keen to get that in the
garage and I bought that myself and I'll probably get the oil
and philtre done again now and then.

(27:22):
Just just make sure it's every 71/2 that it gets oil and philtre
in in that car with the DPF. But the interesting thing was
Dad rang me from somewhere around Canberra and said Oh my
car needs 4 new shocks and I'm like what are you talking about?
Like that car was perfect and you know like it's 130,000 KS on
it. It's not.
It's spent a whole life on bitumen.
It hasn't towed anything. It's never been off road.

(27:45):
I, I can't, this is the perfect environment for a car.
And he said, yeah, we're on these roads up in northern
Queensland somewhere. And, and he noticed it was
getting a lot bouncier. And now they, he had four people
in the car and some luggage in the boot.
That's it. Not towing anything, not
overloaded. And this is a Pajero, so you'd
think it could handle four people in the bloody car anyway.

(28:05):
So yeah, I was intrigued by the time he got home.
He took it to a garage in Canberra and they said yeah,
they're all leaking and they're stuffed.
So I took it to the car wash last night to wash all the bugs
off it and they really are stuffed like it.
I've never felt, I've never felta car so bad in the front end.
It was awful. So whatever Mitsubishi put in

(28:29):
that car as the standard shock, I think is is is maybe a cheaper
component than what they used to.
Like my brother didn't do shockstill 3:50.
My patches on the original shocks at 237.
Like these things don't just fail like that, but but Dad's
car has. So I can only assume that, yeah,

(28:50):
in the later models they just went a bit, a bit tight and put
a shock in that was substandard or maybe they sourced it from
somewhere else or something. I don't know.
Did. They all happen to go at the
same time around the same time. Certainly the fronts, the backs,
the backs might be savable, but they said they were leaking.
So I think we'll just do all four.
Yeah. So between the DPF issues and

(29:11):
the shocks just going like that,I'm, I'm not overly impressed
with that car at the moment. I think I think, you know,
sometimes as with all my cars, older is better.
Dad's always whinge that it doesn't have ACD player because
it's all Apple car player and what have you.
So I'm I said to him, you know what, I'm half tempted to sell a
damn thing for like 35, you know, fix the shocks, sell it

(29:33):
and go and buy you one for 15 that's got ACD player and no DPF
like same car. Like, you know, like I'm sort
of, I'm genuinely half tempted in your pocket. 20 grand.
Yeah, yeah, that's wild. So.
If something comes up, I might be keen to just sell one.
And yeah, just downgrade. Not an upgrade a, well, an

(29:56):
upgrade, but a downgrade anyway.Downgrade.
Yeah, Yep, downgrade. Yeah, I've done it before.
Can I tell you what most of the time you're happier, you know,
in a cheaper car that works and is good.
You you're happier, you spend more money and you just have
higher expectation. But I don't I don't think that
130,000 K is to have perfect shocks is in it is that's been

(30:20):
on bitumen its whole life on freeways is is a big ask.
No, I thought that's a bit sussed to be.
Honest. Yeah, that's that's dodgy as
anyway. So.
My car Blazer. Shocks are designed to last only
80 to 100,000 anyway. Well, I mean on, on some sedans
and things, yeah. You sort of think, oh, around
about 100,000, a bit like thermostats around about

(30:40):
100,000. You, you start looking at it,
but it's just that given the type of car it is and the all
the other ones we've had, you don't you don't sort of hear
about shocks doing anything nasty on them.
Like I've, I've never had that. Yeah, well, that that's why they
make you even sell to buy a new or what?
Or go backward to go forward. No, I'm gonna go backwards.

(31:04):
I'm convinced. Just no, no DPF, just go back.
Anyway, That's that's my car updates.
I haven't really been doing anything else in the world of
cars that I can think of. Nice, Rob's a die.
How are? You welcome.
Yeah, my Mercedes is being driven in and out of the spray
booth. So he's working on it, but he's

(31:25):
not. Nothing's happened to it, but
it's going back and forth out ofthe spray booth, so.
It's, it's a start. I did see it the other day, Rob.
You did. You did.
Yeah, I was at the shop and yeah, I did see it and he said
he was working on it, so. You never know, Chad, you, you
and I might get lucky. Maybe, maybe it's our time.

(31:45):
It could be our time, yeah, I'vehad Ford Australia call me and
they said, they said call the dealer and sort it out with the
dealer. The dealer says you've got to
call Ford Australia and sort it out.
With Ford Australia. So I've been playing ping pong
with the dealership and Ford. So the dealer pretty much said,
look you need to raise a anotherrequest with Ford as it's called

(32:08):
AVAR or something or Rav Rev it's called return of vehicles.
On Toyota. Yeah, and they'll open up
another case to investigate how long it's been off the road, how
many times it's been back and all that sort of stuff, then
determine whether they'll refund, replace, not repair,

(32:28):
repair, whatever. So now she goes.
That could take some time now, so it'll take as long as you
want. So that's where I'm at with the
Transit. So hopefully I'll that'll move
forward now, now that it's been escalated.
I was going to go out for the Father's Day thing down at on

(32:50):
Sunday down at Saint Kilda there, but it's just the weather
wasn't all that crash hot. So I ended up just spending
Father's Day with my father. That was it.
Very good. Chad had been to the factory,
saw his uncle. He said that they were down on
staff the day your your van was built.

(33:11):
Right. Yeah.
So, yeah, they, they, they didn't have enough bodies to go
around to, you know, to give, togive all the, the love and.
The love and need. Exactly.
Yeah, they're, they're all eating kebabs too much.
And on that day, you know, they were a bit sleepy having a
siesta. Yeah, kebabs and and and.
Gozzleman and Gozzleman and and Pidair and all the good stuff,

(33:35):
you know. All the good stuff.
So you've you, you've come back a lot thinner.
Oh yeah, thinner on the wallet, definitely.
No, I it's I did eat like a kingover there, so as you would.
You're on as as Ed would say you're on holiday.
You're on holiday, holiday, holiday.

(33:57):
You're on holiday. Do whatever you like.
You're on holiday, Yeah. But.
Chad, you've just run over threepeople.
I'm on holiday. Chad, what are you gonna do?
That's your 4th ice cream of a different flavour.
I'm on holiday, it's a. It's a great one liner that
really excuses any behaviour. Yeah, you know, when on holiday

(34:17):
you might as well. Absolutely.
See all. The things you don't do or
shouldn't do at home. That's it.
Absolutely, yeah. Updates with me should hopefully
get the camera back tomorrow, fingers crossed.
So injectors were dropped off and hopefully can put in, if not
there, if not already done. So we'll pick that up and then

(34:40):
I've got a bottle of full systemcleaner to run through the car
and see if that improves it, which it should.
So yeah, can't wait to drive that.
What else have I been up to watch the watch in the car from?
I I worked all weekend at at a different store.
Not one of my usual store. Some interesting characters.

(35:02):
How come different store? They needed A2 IC to manager or
three IC to manage to manage a store.
So I was like, yeah, I'm happy to do it.
So in a different location. My what, what did you notice
different about the the clientele or the what sold at
that store versus your normal store?
Every customer was asking for a discount.
Really every customer was just expected everything for nothing

(35:26):
If if that makes sense. And then every and then most of
the time we were getting robbed. So that was, that was fun.
People just walk in, take stuff and walk out, really.
Can I ask which suburb? Yeah, which store is this?
I'll leave it to your interpretation, gentlemen.
So I won't. I won't delve.
Into here, just roughly. Was it northwest?
I don't know where I'm trying where this would be located.

(35:49):
How far is it from your other store?
Far enough that I made me want to go back to my store.
OK, OK, OK. Yes, it wasn't really funny
there. So the lower socio economic area
than than your normal store. So.
Yeah. Yeah, which is fine.
Like, you know, I'm, I'm part ofthat, that, that history and,

(36:12):
and, you know, I'm part of that, that, you know, demographic bit
like when, when you got a customer asking me for a
warranty for a headlight globe and I'm like, we don't do
warranties on headlight globes because.
It's a globe. Globe and IT and they.
I mean, if it blows up after a week, sure, no worries, we'll

(36:33):
replace it. Yeah.
Anything longer than that, you know, everyone uses their lights
differently. Some people drive at night, You
know, it's like cabbies and stuff.
They're constantly replacing because they're driving at
night. But I want a warranty.
I can't give you a warranty. You know, it's it's so he.
He no, he was getting one. I I dealt with this one customer
for over half an hour. Oh no.
And. Do you know, have a three dollar

(36:54):
headline though? Yeah, pretty well.
It was 10. Bucks, it was an expect it was
an HLO that was sold over 50 bucks.
I was like, you can go buy thesetwo long life gloves for 70
bucks for the for the pair. Yeah, I would do that.
If you're worried about longevity, you know, they're a
long life globe, the mental ass,you know, da da, da, da, da.
Yeah. And he's like, oh, but like
Autobahn, I've got it cheaper. I'm like, we'll go there.
He's like. You're in the wrong store.
Then go to Autobahn. Can you match the price?

(37:16):
I'm like, it's a different item.We don't sell that brand.
It's a different item. Like if it's the same 1, sure,
no worries, I'll beat the price. But so.
And then after half an hour, he just decided to just walk off on
me and he's like, yeah, no, if you're not going to give me a
warranty, I'm like, well, no one's going to give you a
warranty mate. So it's.
Best of luck with that one, yeah.
Best of luck. So, yeah, so that was

(37:38):
interesting, but. Could have upselled LEDs or
something I. Think at that point I had
enough. This was my second day there in
a row, and I was just like, get me the hell out of here.
And then customers were coming in on closing.
I'm like, we're closed. Oh yeah, I just need 30.
Just I know what I'm going to get.
They'll run down and get it. And then they'd go get it and
they'd be like, can I make a store order?

(37:58):
So then you're looking at parts. And I was like.
Oh no, you cannot. Right before closing.
People work on their cars down that part of the world.
They like to actually, you know, get stuck into their cars and do
things. They do, but like, I guess I had
some really lovely customers too, like almost like every

(38:18):
customer was, was was a pain in the backside and that was just
constantly nagging. But we had some really lovely
customers. And then then I had a lady, she
came in. Hi everybody.
I've arrived and, and I was like, OK then and just just just
yelling and she's walking down to the end of the store.
Where is this? I'll, I'll whatever it was walks
to the end. I hear her yelling on the other

(38:40):
side of the store like she's so loud, comes back to the front
and once doesn't want to buy, wants to buy chocolate bar, you
know, place it with chocolate bar.
Once doesn't want that chocolatebar.
Once wants the money back. Oh, my $0.50 and then just
started going off and I was like, where the hell am I?
Like, like, what is this world? Going on.
What is going on? And then she's 2% of to tell my
colleagues that they were all something, somethings.

(39:00):
And then. A household a household nearby
for a record price the other dayfor just over $1,000,000.
Well. In that area.
Wow. So yes, let's just pig.
Yeah, I'm no comment. No comment really.
Don't go back, Natty. Don't go back.

(39:21):
Well, they said to me, Oh well, you did.
You left the shop in sun screen.Did you get Danger Danger money
or anything like that? You.
Should have made. I should have probably got got.
Yeah. More money than people on the
paddle, you know, like they're better on on the side of the
road. Yeah.
They're like, yeah, look, you know, we've got some more shoes.
Kind of we're happy to give themto you.
I'm like, yeah. No worry.
No, no, no, no, no. Don't want?
So don't you understand? It was brand new and lovely, but

(39:45):
yeah. That doesn't change.
People, I mean, I, I look, I getbad customers up my store too,
but yeah, this was this was. A different amount.
So but anyway, all part of fun and games.
I did have some nice Vietnamese food from from around that area,
right next door actually, and itwas it.
Was bar and me's are real good bar.

(40:06):
And me's are phenomenal. You're a fan of a Bar Me.
I love a Bar me. I'm also on the Bar Me
appreciation society on Facebook.
Good pay. I love a good pet.
Yeah, yeah, that is correct. There's plenty on offer I.
Think people are eventually going to?
Figure out the the location I'm going to move on before before I

(40:29):
get I get any problem. No, look, all part of all part
of the retail experience. Yeah.
So yeah, that's pretty much my updates.
Genuine. Tonight's topic is when was the
last time you saw blank insert here.
Now I've got one for you guys. Want to start us off with when

(40:52):
was the last time you guys saw aHyundai S Coupe?
Tell ya. Scoop, Scoop I.
Could not tell you you're. Talking about the first Gen
right first. Gen Scoops.
Yeah, very first Gen square boxyscoop.
Yeah. There aren't any left.
They wouldn't be like I, I, there'd be.

(41:12):
One somewhere. There'd be 1 somewhere.
Gotta be 1. Yeah, I don't.
Remember the last time I've seenone and.
And I was thinking about that because I went on a typical
Matthew Janina sort of lifestyle.
I went on a rabbit hole of looking at Hyundai XLS because I
was like, oh, I wanna have you know, what would it take to get
into? No, I saw one come up on
marketplace that had there was aprepped race car like a like a

(41:34):
Oh yeah. I.
Had a race series for them. XL Cup and and it was like it
was like 16 grand with like everything like ready, ready to
go with ties and like, you know, that's a that's a lot of race
car for 16 grand. So you know, Cam, it's all
cammed approved and all all thatstuff.
And you know, and it was it had a history of racing and I was
like, Oh yes, and then I went ona bit of a rabbit hole.

(41:56):
I'm like, Oh, you have to go back.
S coup. So I wonder if this I I haven't
seen one. So I was like, you know, when
was the last time you saw an S coupe?
So gentlemen, do you remember the last time you've seen one?
And and if so, was it recently? It was not.
Can't remember. I ain't seen one in years. 2004.

(42:16):
Very. Is that one nearly new?
May. The 3rd 2000. 4 on my birthday,
July 3rd. Yeah.
Is that your birthday, Rob? It is on July 2, July 2.
There. You go.
Yeah. Oh Gee, what?
Was the last thing yeah. I can't remember seeing a first

(42:39):
Gen S coupe. Like I'd honestly I can't even
recall. But I did have.
I used to live in North Melbourne and my next door
neighbour used to have a second Gen coupe.
S coupe. I think they were still called S
coupes, weren't they? Or they were just called coupes.
Just a coupe. Yeah, yeah.

(43:00):
And I thought they were. But ugly?
Yeah. They weren't a good.
Looking car. They weren't a good looking car
and but this this was like a purple one and he would like wax
and Polish it every Sunday. He would brave drive it onto his
lawn and he would wash it and then he would Polish it on the
and like he wasn't a particularly, you know,
straightforward bloke. He was a very sort of, you know.

(43:22):
Character. He might have been on the glass
BBQ here and there if you if youcatch my grief, he he was
troubled, you know, from time to.
Time you. Can't say the word of that
illegal substance at the moment anyway.
So yeah, he was an interesting I've got a scuddy.
He was a he was an interesting character and he for some reason

(43:43):
he loved this bloody card. It was just so ugly.
I. Actually like that.
Where in North Melbourne would there be a nature strip with
grass? Yeah, tell me about it.
It's no longer there. They knocked it down.
It's not there. It's there's a there's like a 12
Storey building there now. Yeah.
Anyway, So to answer your question, no, I can't remember
the last time I saw an S scoop. I reckon I would have seen one

(44:06):
for sale at some point. But yeah, I I think I remember
seeing a yellow one for sale at some point.
That was, I thought they. They did do them in yellow.
Yeah, and I think they even did like colour matched seats or
something weird like that. And yeah, but would they pop up
headlights? Are those square, those square
headlights? Yes.

(44:27):
And they had like the MA 70 Supra tail lights looking thing,
didn't they? Yeah, like very sort of long
garnish, yeah. They did do a turbo version.
Turbo version, Yeah. What would that have been?
Like a 1.5 turbo or something? Like that an Aussie turbo
version they did. Pretty sure they they sold
Aussie Turbo. No, I don't think so.

(44:48):
I don't think we ever got turbo here.
Well. I want to Fact Check.
I want to. Factor.
This is normal. Yeah, Fact Check that.
Hey, what about this Infiniti Q45?
Is that the? That was the Aussie.
Maximum. Oh no, it was an Aussie
delivered big. First Infinity available.
The very first Infinity ever. A big saloon, wasn't it?

(45:09):
Big balloon. It was meant to take on the
LS400 but of course never did. No, these things are rare as
hen's teeth, dude. I I don't think I've actually
ever seen one in Australia. Like no.
I have, but for many, many years.
So that is the that is a car that I've.
I don't even remember the last one.
I've seen one that it like. Nope, but when you said the

(45:33):
topic I thought that came to mind.
Q45 Infinity. Well, I'm going to raise the
stakes. All right, So this is how we're
going to do it now. So we've got it has to be like
realistic. You're not going to say 1931
Pontiac or something, something stupid like that.
But like, how does that we know and that we've seen and grew up
with or seen, you know, and we're going to keep score.

(45:54):
So if, if, for example, if let'ssay I've got I've already I'm
not going to add this the the the S scoop because that's that
was pre pre introduction to this.
But you know, if if you say, if if no one on the group's seen
one bang you, you get a point. How does that does that?
Sound OK? We'll do that.
OK, I've got to think of other cars now.
Just a real easy one, the the last of the Holden Commodores.

(46:15):
Yeah, you don't really see them.Yeah, you're right.
What last they're? All wrapped in cotton.
Woman people. Oh.
Yeah. You're.
Talking about VF Commodores? No, I'll talk.
About Europe, I'll talk about the European ones.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you don't see too many of
those. And you won't be seeing many
more VFC. But they were getting nicked in
Melbourne. So, so the the Q45 that that

(46:39):
they were AV 8, weren't they? They were like a four, yeah, 4
1/2 lead. Yeah, it's like 4-4 point 5V8,
something like that. Yeah, and.
That was that was Infinity's first attempt at Australia and
and then this wasn't much better.
Yeah, it was like, it was like that was that was the LS400 of
Infinity. And they never, they never went
anywhere but. They initial yeah, break into

(46:59):
the. Market.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's.
Weird that they like they must have sold many like.
I'd love to know the actual number.
I mean it, it'd be a couple of 100 maybe.
Maybe it was more, maybe it was 1000 of them or something.
I don't know. It would.
Have been. So they're not based on a
Maxima, right? They're based on a a drive, so
that's a Nissan SEMA or a Gloriaor something.

(47:22):
Yeah, some other platforms, not a maximum platform, I'm sure of
that. That's weird.
Yeah. I mean, it's a weird because
Nissan didn't even sell those platforms in Australia and
they're they're Japan only. I'm pretty sure it was Japan
only. But yeah, even though Infinity
being on that platform, being being sold here is a really
weird choice, I guess. They're really big in the
States. They are.
They're massive. They're massive.

(47:43):
In the states look like infinity's huge.
But that's because Lexus LS400 was really bad made for the the
US market. So Infinity was like, yeah,
absolutely, we have to compete with them.
So they made the Q45 and yeah, yeah, there's a no brainer to
sell it. They're like, yeah, yeah, that's
a weird one. I would have really competed
well, I would have thought competed well with like a
statesman. Yeah.
You know AV 8 we will drive saloon.

(48:05):
It was ugly though. I Chad.
It was ugly, Yeah. I mean, it wasn't.
Is it any more ugly than a a a VR statesman?
Like a VR equivalent of a statement of the they.
Weren't great looking either. Yeah, no.
Good looking rig. Let's be honest, like it wasn't.
Yeah. I mean, how much were they knew?
Frameless doors, which is quite cool.

(48:26):
Yeah, yeah, very so. Frameless windows I would say I
knew. They were something like, you
know, were they 80 grand, like 70 or 80 grand?
OK. We just looked them up, how much
they were new. So they sold them from 93 to 97.
Yeah. In 97, how much do you think
they were? So you so you're saying 80

(48:46):
grand? Yeah, I'll say 80.
No. Is that today's money or is
that? Oh, that's back then back.
Then yeah. I mean, yeah, I would have, I
would have thought 80 grand. Yeah, somewhere there.
So I want to look up how much anLS400 was, was, Yeah, because.
Scotty and Rob, do you guys don't have a guess because I've
already seen the price, which means I really can't be guessing
I. Reckon the high 70s.

(49:08):
Scott. I'm thinking by the sounds of
your voice, this must be in the 90s.
Well, put it this way, when the LS400 first came out, it was 100
and 119 grand. Then it dropped by 10 grand.
Then it went back to up about 192, jumped up to 140 grand.
The Q45 was $147,000 Australian.Oh, Mama.

(49:30):
In 97, so yeah. And I wonder why they didn't
really sell. Why would you?
Why would? You I reckon the sale numbers
would even be in the double digits, not even triple digits
at that price. Talk about depreciation.
That thing now would feel like 31/2 grand if you could.
Find one. Yeah, exactly.
It's crazy. That's a good one answer point
to you. I don't.

(49:50):
Thank you. So much.
So Rob said ZB Commodore. I actually, I actually saw one
the other day. I saw a Calais all wheel drive
Calais. So like.
Top of the Oh yeah yeah, VXL. Well, that was a bit, it was a,
it was a tour as well. So, you know, it was a the
touring and it was, yeah. I mean, from all accounts,

(50:10):
they're not, they're not a bad car, but you know, they, they're
not, they went great and and as you know, they weren't a
Commodore. What about you, Scotty?
Have you got? Have you got one?
For us, mine's a little bit off I think.
I was thinking AC43 AMG. That is a good one, I haven't
seen one in a long time. Yeah, no, I've seen them off
sale, but not not with my eyes. Probably the last one I've seen

(50:34):
in person was your one Scotty. Like it's been it's been that
long since I've seen AC4. I've seen a few C30 sixes.
I've seen them. I've seen a couple C30 sixes
around and that, but I haven't seen another C43.
I don't know where they're tucking them away.
Well, they they weren't they they didn't sell a lot of them
like they're quite A and they were at the end of the two O 2's
life. So they are they are quite a
rare car, but yeah, that's a good one.

(50:55):
I can't remember the last one. I seen one.
What about you, Ed? You've seen?
My friend owned a waggon, one oftwo in the country supposedly,
so I did imagine that. One of two.
One of two. Waggon cool.
I have seen he doesn't own it anymore, but I have seen that
car, not, you know, a couple of years ago when he still had it.

(51:16):
And I've seen one advertised in the Japanese import sedan
recently, but I haven't seen theactual car.
I've just seen that ad. Yeah.
Does that count? Is that half?
No. Well.
I mean, it's all right. We'll change the rules to like
it's going to be in the last year like you got to.
OK. Well, no, I haven't seen one in
the last year. OK.
Well then you don't get then. Then Scottie gets the point.

(51:37):
Give him the point. Just give it.
Yeah. When?
Was the last thing you saw one I.
Can't say I have. There you go.
Good. No, no, can't.
Can't. See Z36 in my driveway.
I've got another one, this mightbe a bit easier, a Volkswagen

(51:59):
Scirocco. Yeah, I saw one.
I see one every day. We saw like a new one.
Yeah, like the latest 1 they did, yeah.
Yeah. I mean, I saw one in Turkey, so
I guess it's no chance. Yeah, this is Australian based.
Australia. Yeah.
But they're, they're pretty common here.
Pretty. Yeah, Yeah.
I can't pinpoint the last time Isaw it in Australia.

(52:20):
Yeah, see there, you can't pinpoint it, but.
Like, I don't think it would have been that long.
Well, obviously he is, because you can't pinpoint it.
It was the guy who ran the street from me.
He had a white one which he wrote which he smashed the front
of it really badly and then he he drops like a cock anyway, so
that's that's fine. So then he fixed it and he
crashed it again and got writtenoff.
That's. Oh nice.
Then he ended up with an S3, which he also drove like a

(52:41):
complete cock and then he ended up in some sort of beam up it.
There is a guy now that I see every day driving up, driving up
and down my my Rd in a green like that.
You know the green, the green frog car colour that came in?
Yes. Green and it's just a mint
original very, very nice exampleand he drives it every day so.
Well, there you go, you see it. I see it so Scotty just sent us

(53:03):
a 929. I saw this car Scotty this is
929 like Japanese import and it's just VIP specs to the Max.
It looks cool, looks pretty awesome.
What I don't see anything on my side of town is 911 Carreras.
They just not see them. You don't see them there.

(53:25):
Don't see them not on our side of town.
Ask me the odd one. Yeah, if you're on the right
side of town. Yeah, for that card, yeah.
Here's one for you, Ford Cougar from the from 1999 to Oh,
there's. One on my way Cougar there's.
One of your work. No, hang on, Cougar.

(53:47):
Oh no. The old.
One the old coop. This is the coop.
The coop. Yeah.
Yeah. No, no, sorry.
I just are there any any store? In there.
I saw there's a. There's a few about, but not not
a common thing. No, not a common thing.
They weren't common when they were new.
They weren't a big seller. I've got one for you.
Yeah. Holden shuttle van.

(54:07):
No golden shuttle long gone. What's that based on?
That's the not based on anything, Chad.
It's its own thing. OK, hang on a second.
I I Dad's. Doing a quick Google, what the
Hell's a hole in the shuttle van?
You. You don't see any old Toyota 4
runners around anymore on the road, Yeah.
That's a that's. AI saw one not that long ago in

(54:30):
Ocean Grove. Never.
OK. Yeah, 4 runners are.
There's a reason why you don't see them anymore.
Because they were all flogged todeath, like quite literally.
Or they all rusted away. Classy Japan is always a couple,
a forerunner or two. Like they've, they, the people
have restored them and stuff. Yeah, the friend of mine who has

(54:51):
a really cool Torana also has a forerunner that he's building at
the moment. I guess that's the last one I
would have seen but with my own eyes.
Yeah, nice. She really like.
Forests, I think they're. Cool forests are such cool
they're. Very cool.
Yeah, they're a good size. Yeah, 2 seconds in, but they've
also got that the removable roof.
Yes, which which I always. Thought was like the coolest

(55:11):
thing in the world. Yeah, yeah, I've got 1-2 door
Nissan Pathfinder. Man.
Oh, the 2 door, Yeah, I can't. Remember.
The last one. Like big big.
It's like a troop carrier basically, but you know, small
body. Yeah, I don't know when I saw
one of them, or even just any Nissan Pathfinder.

(55:33):
Didn't Nissan also have a 2 doorpatrol?
And Pajero's also had a 2 door Pajero, didn't they?
Yeah. Correct.
Yep, Yep. Patchurities.
Prado. Too Prado's Land Cruisers.
Sort of Bigs had the 2 door version back then you.
Don't see any of those anymore, do you?
I saw a 2 door pajero today. Oh nice, there you go.
Silva Silver and if you. Cool, I really like those if

(55:56):
you. Ever catch the train to and from
Spencer Street Station? It's in a multi level car park
at the top level, the open level, and it's right at train
height. So every time I go around that
bin, which is not often, but I'malways like Oh yeah, still
there, Silver 2 door. Yeah, OK.
It's just been abandoned. No, I know.
I think it lives in an apartmentnearby.
Can I just say out of all those shorties that's see me, it's the

(56:19):
best proportion 1. It it it looks right.
Yeah, it's like 3 door Rev like it.
It looks correct, whereas the Prado just looked really weird.
It's like they just stopped withthe product.
The 2 door product just looks wacko.
Yeah, the Padges. The 2 door padges, they they
looked like they were designed to be a 2 door badge.

(56:39):
Yeah, that's the 2. Door patrols are also good
proportions as well. Yeah, I'd agree with you.
They weren't too bad. They feel boxy as like they're
really like they're almost as wide as they are long.
I mean obviously not, but they they have those like sort of
proportion looking proportions. Yeah, that's right.
I got 1. Scotty.
A Honda S2000. I saw one of those not long ago.

(57:05):
I. Haven't seen one in in real.
Life. Yeah, they're around.
Definitely. I haven't seen one in the past
year. Like I can think further back
and I don't really see him at car shows or anything anymore
or. I did see one actually not long
ago, probably weeks. Oh nice.
Yeah. All right, so if you're around
this way, yeah, I. Haven't seen one.
I'm with you so I haven't seen one in a long time.

(57:26):
The last time I saw one was at the the BBQ the Condo club BBQ
last year. Oh yeah, yeah, that was.
That's where the last time I've.Seen.
Oh yeah, there's one there. Yeah, that's right.
That's. That's been a lot that's been,
it's been over a year so I haven't seen one, but I forgot
what the score is. But we'll have to.
We'll have to come up next time with three each and then see who
ends up. Winning.

(57:47):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's good, yeah.
Here's one for you. Nissan R31 Pintara.
Where was I? I haven't seen a Pintara in
forever. I like, I can't remember that.
Like a Yeah, those are. Around.
I couldn't tell you when I saw them, but they're around.
I see plenty of 30 ones but not.I see skylines and stuff but the

(58:08):
30 ones they're not the pintara.Last Pintara I saw was my
grandpa's but it's been over a year since he's had it so I
can't count that one. Yeah, no, it's been, it's been a
long time since I seen a Pantara.
What about have you seen a Pantara, Rob?
No, can't say I have. I'll go on for ya.
Yep. Suzuki X90.

(58:31):
Oh oh. Forever ago, yeah, dude.
Never on the road for sure dude.No one saw them when they were
new. What do you?
Mean, I know it's they're, they're a rare bird.
I saw one on YouTube yesterday. What were you searching, Rob?
Why were? You looking at?
Someone made a video about that. That pommy guys who are doing up

(58:51):
some cars, I can't. Remember the same of the show
Auto Alex? Yeah, he bought one.
Yeah, what I'd say. You know, Rob, he's a story for
you. Ed and I were at The Wreckers a
couple couple weeks ago and we saw XL7 there.
Oh, oh wow. And I'm like, that's a bit of
Rob and. And you said Rob had one of
those. And I'm like, really?
That was quite a cool car. Yeah, the V6 yeah, V and.

(59:14):
You, You loved that car, didn't you?
Rob you. Used to it was fantastic.
The we had it for maybe six or seven years and faultless, it
was fantastic. A.
Big Suzuki? Yep, that's some trips through
Tassie sand dunes of Beach Port and Robe.
Wow. Yep, right along the beach.

(59:37):
Probably 4 wheel drive. Yeah.
Yeah, Yeah, they are. A mate of mine had a still has
it the big F-250 four drive thing and we're going down the
hills and back, back about disappointment real steep,
rutted out track in that case, Oh, don't bring you Suzuki down
here. You won't make it unit, you're
gonna get stuck. I said too mate, keep on going.
I'm right behind you. Don't slow down.

(01:00:01):
And from memory, from memory, Rob, those things were about
like 28 grand or something. I think I paid 32, Yeah, for it
was. I think there's two variants.
Yeah. So I had a tow bar and other
bits and pieces I didn't have. I'm sure it wasn't the top of
the range because the top range one I think even had a sunroof.

(01:00:23):
Yeah. Yeah, which mine didn't have,
but yeah, it was about 3032. They got leather the top ones I
think too. Yeah, they had leather sunroof.
Yeah, yeah, it's a cracking. No, you don't see them very
often. No, no.
So Rob, would you have that or would you have a Jimmy after
earning both? Oh, Vitaro hand, day in, day

(01:00:43):
out. Well, OK, well that would be
cool. It's a massive call.
Massive call. Without question.
I've got kind of two. I'm just wondering if you've one
of them you've probably never you haven't seen but one of them
you could have but I just noticed I don't really seem that
often anymore a VSSS or the VSHSVGTS with the Tri spoke

(01:01:09):
rims. Oh yeah.
Oh yeah, that's a rare one. That's a.
Yeah, yeah. So the VSSSI see one quite often
because one of my students dad'sgot one and.
Oh yeah. And he drops it's mint like it's
a it's a beautiful. Car.
How is it? Why?
Yeah. Nice.

(01:01:30):
Why would the with the red kind of strap around it, you know, in
the morning mornings and he's putting it's kind of nice and
things all stock wheels, but it's like it's it looks like
it's beautiful and they got a good note.
Like the bird was great. But but but HSV like a like a
clubby with with the Tri spokes.Oh no, I mean I haven't seen one
in a very long time that that's actually I mean, where have they

(01:01:52):
all gone? They used to be everywhere.
I think people chopped them up for LS swaps.
Yeah, honestly. Well, well, I think they they
chopped them up and just hold them for parts because.
Yeah, because at one point like the.
They're worth nothing. Yeah.
They're worth nothing. And it was worth more.
Worth more in parts. Yeah, Yeah.
What was the Swift variant? The GTI?
Was it a GTI? Swift.

(01:02:13):
The early. 80s one. 80s one. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah. You don't see too many of those,
no? There's a guy in the Nuggets
circles that has like 5 of them.Well, yeah, yeah, yeah.
All early ones, all boxy. Ones.
Oh, he's got like 3 or 4 boxy ones and one like second Gen,

(01:02:34):
second Gen, yeah, yeah. But he, yeah, he's, he's a swift
Nutter. Yeah, yeah.
He tracks all of them, I think, but yeah.
And like two or three of them are turbocharged.
And yeah, he loves them. Yeah.
Terrible car. Yeah, I actually saw, I actually
saw the the later Model 1, the second Gen on Sunday.

(01:02:56):
I was going to lunch and a whiteone just drove past me and I was
like, what the hell, like that? Like a big GTR in the back.
Jeez. Yeah, it was cool.
It was really neat. Too, Was it like, you know, was
it a traffic car or someone likehad built it and stuff looked.
Like a traffic car, Like, jeez, this thing's like a survivor.
Yeah. Well, anyway, a survivors.
That's incredible. So I was like, oh, GTI.

(01:03:16):
I've got 1. Is this, well, I think it's the
first Gen they made these, but Lexus LS460, which is the big,
big body saloon. Yeah, they were like 32.
Thousands later, 2. 1000, early 2000s yeah.
So after the LS400 LS 4:30, yeah.

(01:03:40):
For sale I have but not in person.
Yeah, yeah, same for sale. I've seen them, but not.
Is it just me gentleman or did those Lexus they just didn't
hold their value like the old like the earlier ones, like they
were just they weren't really worth much and and like and and
they. 'D appreciate it so much that I
think people are like, I'd rather just write this off and

(01:04:00):
you know, then then cop the blood.
I think there's a lot of Japanese imports too, include
those later models like as parallel Japanese imports,
whereas the early cars were onlyAussie delivered, you know
obviously well. Yeah, yeah, you're right.
It's yeah, I mean the LS4 hundreds, they, I mean they were
expensive, but like, but they, but they, they did come cheaper

(01:04:22):
eventually. But like so like an LS430, it's
like a 5 grand car all day everyday.
And they've been like that forever like that.
They just never really got any, any appreciation.
So I don't know, it's, it's a bit of a weird one.
Yeah. My last one for the night before
we moved to the car quiz gentlemen is when was the last
time it says a current car on sale?

(01:04:43):
I can't remember the last one I've seen one besides a
dealership is the same with Lexus the the LC500.
There is one I see time to time and it's always in the evening
and is coming up Pascoe Vale Road and turning onto the
freeway. It's a silver one.

(01:05:04):
It's a silver drop top LC500 andevery time I see it I'm like
holy crap. That is a because it looks so
out of place, especially like ingraphic.
In the IT looks out of place in the area.
It looks like, Oh yeah, especially in the north, but
yeah, it's such a weird look. It's an alien.
Like it's 100% an alien car. Yeah, I, I see one, yeah, maybe

(01:05:25):
every like every other week I see it in traffic.
But yeah, I. I ain't.
I ain't seen that car. Can I just say, have you guys
ever sat in one of those? No, no.
It is the nicest finished car I've ever seen honestly and I've
sat in a made back and this thismade the made back look like
shit. Wow, it's a.
Quality like it made like the fit and finish the use of

(01:05:47):
materials. It was just, that's how
outstanding. Well, I, I, it's.
Yeah, it goes with 100,000 KS onit, because you know, Lexus can
look a little tired with a few miles on them.
We'll see. We'll.
See, I think especially New Lexuses, Yeah, definitely.
They don't. They don't hold up like some
Germans. I, I I beg to differ.

(01:06:07):
I think the. I think the.
German beg to differ. I do.
I've seen, I've seen modern S classes with with the dashes
peeling. So that's there you go.
Not the the oldest class. Not, not the 126.
Any last ones, gentlemen, beforewe move on?
Ford Laser Sony Explode Edition,Yeah.

(01:06:29):
Yes, that. One for sale recently.
Yes, yeah, Crazy, crazy. There's one for sale.
You know, I was like, OK, so I mentioned in the group chat,
Chad, have you got anywhere to stay?
If, if I, if I do, yeah. Because I will be, I will be
divorced quick. I'm going.
To spare bedroom. Yeah.
Thank you. Thank you And you.

(01:06:49):
Can come to my house anytime Manny got.
A place you can hide it. Yeah.
Well, Rob, I might have to. Take you up with that.
It's got a paddock, yeah. Because I I was OK.
So I was talking to Steph and I'm like, so she's like, no, I
didn't even get to save the car. She's like no, no, no.
So I'm like, it's just it's a one of four.

(01:07:11):
Yeah. It's a special and it's a good.
Case too. I was tempted to bring.
Lower case. Rob is tempted, even.
There's such a match, That and the SR2, that's a nice little
pair. Yeah.
Is it still for sale? That's the laser ultimate combo.
It is, but someone has someone grabbed it. 3 1/2 no, I think.

(01:07:32):
It was a four did. Did this come up for sale a
little while ago and then did itsell?
Or do you think maybe the guy just took it down and he re
listed it? Yeah.
Yeah, because there was a turbo one that was 17 grand, not too
long. Ago you got that one.
And I was like, like, look, it'scool, but it's not 17 grand cool
and then not. 17 and. Then there was there was a real
mounted one for like 3. Remember that one the the ripped

(01:07:54):
seats and everything. And then there was there now
there's this one. So out of all the four, three
have been on for sale for in thelast, you know, a little amount
of time. So I don't know.
I don't know. Pretty cool next to yours.
Quiet. I'm happy to do a GoFundMe if
you guys want to help out with that.
But they really only get 2 grandcar aren't they?

(01:08:15):
Really, they are. They are.
And but, you know, it is my birthday next week, gentlemen.
So, you know, if you're yeah, you know, just putting it out
there to the universe since. I mean this pretty cool kit that
it came with like it's. It's very so out there.
I don't know if it's, it would be.
Awesome back then too, to have those Subs and that and

(01:08:36):
everything in the boot. Like.
Double crazy. I just want to see it.
I just want to just go next to 1and see it and just be like, OK,
I've, I've witnessed this, this,this explode.
What? Sort of town is it at?
It's in Melbourne somewhere. All right.
So anyway, before I get divorced, we'll move on to.

(01:09:00):
Love that you couldn't even get out what the car was that it was
just like, no, you've got the car buying face on.
She's like no. Which is exactly what I get from
my wife every time I go Betty. Betty, it's easier to ask.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
You should know that. I'm still trying to get
forgiveness for the Camry and it's it's been, it took a while

(01:09:20):
to get to get out of the doghouse for that one.
The thing about the camera is you can always get your money
back. You can sell it and you'll still
get your money. It's still there in an asset it.
Is so. Buy a dress or get your hair
done and get your nails done. You'll never get that money
back. Rob's Rob's diving into
dangerous territory with wives over here.
One of four. I mean, you can't get any more

(01:09:40):
rarer than that, can't go any lower than the price it is now.
Maybe you need to go there? About 115 K is that car.
Maybe we just need to see it like just just.
Yeah, let's go and see. There is here.
Let's get 4 equal shares, yeah? 100% there's.
I think we could do that and we've got a one of four.
I've got a, I've got a, I've got1000 somewhere laying around.

(01:10:03):
Yeah, then we can do. Then we can do.
Cap laps with like the Subs blaring.
With all the particular star, could it be the best?
So how would? We have a boost gauge on the on
the dash pillar. What's that about?
Cause 'cause 2 came turbochargedand two weren't and naturally
aspirated so it could have been a turbocharged one but it
doesn't say it in. The OR is it how it says amps?

(01:10:25):
It could be the amp so oh. It is amps.
Because because of the battery'sgetting drained.
Oh, that's so funny. Oh dude, but how cool is it?
It's incredible. I.
Mean is that Ed? Roughly does it say?
That is. How did you guys tell what how
many kilometres are on it? Says it right?

(01:10:49):
There saying somewhere on the bottom I think looks.
Like. It's in the in the mileage
details section. I never trust that looks like.
In the city, Rob. Like East Melbourne, Like right
near town. Cool.
All right, Not too far. I'll go and look at it on the
weekend. Yeah, Oh my God.
Oh. Man, this is a This is a
dangerous, dangerous game. When I go to look at cars, you

(01:11:11):
know things happen. I know they do, Edwards.
I know they're. Driving yours we could be
driving the other one. My son in law could be driving
his Sr to lock up. Yeah.
SR's going down the road. Laser, laser, laser.
Laser beam. OK, I've got to figure out an

(01:11:32):
apology letter. AI.
Please write me a letter. So next time we we're going to
revisit this and we're going to come up with three each and then
we're going to so you're tellingwho you meant.
Revisit as in the laser we're. Going to revisit the what cars

(01:11:54):
have we seen in a long time discussion, but I think it's not
for the car quiz, gentlemen. We'll start.
Rock'n'roll. So moving, moving away.
So. So he's still, he's still using.
His no shenanigans. So no shenanigans can can be
ensued. Oh, you got you got to hear the
the the podcast last week. I'm uploading it.

(01:12:15):
Last week went off. Well mate, the shenanigans were
called numerous times. Was I on this week?
You were on Edward on on last week.
Oh was it I remember being a bitof an angry episode?
Was Alan a bit angry or something?
Alan. Alan was angry.
David, David and Alan were punching on.
They were. David and Alan were punching on.
It was the funniest thing ever. Probably when I missed.
It. I know, I know.

(01:12:36):
Tries to steal my segment at theend, the bastard he.
Did too, yeah. You got angry at the end there,
Scotty. Scotty.
Never gets angry. I think I think fair reason.
I think fair reason I'm I'm withyou on that.
I'm with you on that. Oh, I was getting to the car
quiz 10 questions about some of those questions.
Question one the Audi 5 cylinderthat is found in the RS3 and Rs

(01:12:59):
Q3 is said to have had how many years left to be in production
due to not making emissions Ed. 3.
Incorrect, Rob. Rob.
What? Incorrect.
Chad Chad 5. Incorrect, sorry. 4.
Incorrect. It's 2 they said two years

(01:13:20):
later. Bonus question, what are the

Because they had was big involvement from America,
because their design team actually won the design of the
car had available their teams. Yeah.
Bonus question, the design credofor the MX5 is Jinbuy.

(01:16:37):

thought I meant to study. That's what I.
Meant horrible. Car to be replaced by.
Horrifically bad car replacement.
I don't think adventures are particularly wild bills.

(01:19:54):
No, Maybe. But I mean they were on a Visa
or VY visa chassis so it couldn't have been that bad.
They were OK. Oh God.
That sucks. Edwin, what would you take, a
Captiva or a adventurer? Adventurer.
Rob adventurer Scotty OH. Yeah, same.

character Mona Lisa Vito, what her name mentions What Car as

(01:21:45):
the car that connected the crimeEd.
Buick Skylark. No, that's incorrect.
It was the Buick was not the carthat.
Oh, it was not the car. Damn.
The Buick Skylark. Buick Skylark.
I've never seen the movie. It's a.
Great, it's an all time Great it's a.
Traction. It got a Parsi traction rear

(01:22:06):
end. It's one of the all time greats.
You got to watch it just. Watch that clip, even just the
deep of her in the courtroom. It's very good.
It's it's every guy's dream watching that video of watching
that. Clip Yeah, it's a kind of dream.
Solves the case if it wasn't theBuick Sky.
Like was it the? Was it a Pontiac?
It was a Pontiac, but you're you've, you've had your go.

(01:22:29):

point if you give me So you've got .5% Pontiac.
I'll give you the other half if you.
It's not a Laurentian, is it? No, that's incorrect.
It was the Pontiac Tempest. Tempest.
That's right. Now bonus question, so you got

(01:23:14):
.5 there, Edward. Bonus question.
What is the reason that this is the case?
Ed. Ed.
Because there were twin, I'm sitting up now I'm taking notice
because there were twin black lines that went up and over a
curb and the lines were continuous from the tyres.
And Marissa's point was that thecar that left those had to have

(01:23:38):
like a limited slip DIF or whatever because the traction it
was the name for back then in that car.
So that the other model the the Buick sky like never had that
till a later year. So it could not have left twin
black lines in the over that median strip in the way that it
did. I'll give you a .5 because

(01:23:58):
there's because there's another,because there's another reason.
On. There's another reason that.
Would have been the main reason. The best reason that was.
The reason? There's two reasons, Edwards.
The tie width. Incorrect.
Than that it was the twin black lines.
So what else was it? And I think it was.
The transmission related to the transmission.

(01:24:19):
Incorrect. No idea.
I know, I know. Was it the wheelbase?
Incorrect. Same wheelbase, it was the only
car besides the Corvette that had independent rear suspension
so it was able to go over the curb like that and still.
Keep Yeah, like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So that is a it's a cracking clip.
You play the clip after after the show.

(01:24:40):
It's it's. Watch the whole film straight
after. So I'm in the mood now, yeah.
It's it's a great, it's a great movie.
It's I'm I'm. Watching, I'm watching it
tonight. I'm.
Gonna watch it. I'm gonna go home and watch it
tonight. It's gonna watch it tonight.
I'm gonna watch it right now. You're gonna watch it right now.

I didn't finish it but I've I'vewatched the start and it was
incredible. Yeah, how cool is it?

and Chad on 123. 4-5 Chad. Chad starts well.

going downhill to the to the right of you.
Remember your ball, if you try and hit it straight, is actually
going to go flying out to the right.

Compensate good. Compensation.
Yeah, yeah, go to compensate or else it's just gonna go.
Well, off it goes. Yep, like that.
