Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation or ECMO has made a resurgance in popularity and usage across the country. It has become minimized and mobile, removing a lot of barriers that kept it from being used previously. With tons of advantages and a tried and true history of being an effective tool for cardiogenic shock, the newer mobile units are really making a splash at smaller satellite community hospitals.
