souls, the reparation of sins, the reunion of all Christians,
(00:43):
and in particular for the holyintentions of the Holy Father
this month, amen.
Prayers for the Holy FatherAlmighty and everlasting God,
have mercy upon thy servant,Pope Leo XV, our Supreme
Pontiff, and direct himaccording to thy loving kindness
in the way of eternal salvation, that of thy gift he may ever
(01:06):
desire that which is pleasingunto thee, and may accomplish it
with all his might, throughChrist our Lord, amen.
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will bedone, on earth as it is in
heaven.
Give us this day our dailybread, and forgive us our
trespasses, as we forgive thosewho trespass against us, and
(01:29):
lead us not into temptation, butdeliver us from evil, amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, theLord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy
womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, prayfor us sinners, now and at the
hour of our death, amen.
Glory be to the Father and tothe Son and to the Holy Spirit,
(01:52):
as it was in the beginning, isnow, and ever shall be, world
without end, amen.
In the name of the Father and ofthe Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
amen.
Quote from Saint Augustine Younever go away from us, yet we
have difficulty in returning toyou.
(02:12):
Come, Lord, stir us up and callus back, kindle and seize us.
Be our fire and our sweetness.
Let us love, let us run.
Meditation of the day, anexcerpt from Imitation of Mary
in four books by Alexander deRouville, pages two hundred and
(02:33):
eighty six and two hundred andeighty seven.
Mary is the daughter eternallyloved by the Father, the mother
of the Son, and the spouse ofthe Holy Spirit.
Understand the meaning of thesewords, and you will have some
idea of her power.
As the spotless daughter of theHeavenly Father, she is more
perfect than all other creaturestaken together.
(02:57):
Her power over the heart of herdivine Father is unlimited.
He gives her now in heaven powerover all the graces with which
he enriches our world.
As true mother of the Son in hismanhood, will he not hear her?
By her prayers she can do allthat the Son Himself does.
That is how the holy fathersspeak of her.
(03:19):
To doubt that she has enoughpower with God to obtain the
graces we need is to doubt thatthe Son honors his mother.
Solomon said to Bathsheba, Askit, my mother, for I will not
refuse you.
When Mary prays for us, shereceives the same answer, for
(03:40):
she has a greater claim on itthan Bathsheba had.
When we pray for somethingthrough the intercession of the
saints, their love for the Lordand our confidence in them
persuade him to be favorable tous.
But when we pray through theintercession of Mary, it is her
high position and her dignity asGod's mother that speak in our
(04:01):
favor.
Recall that God Himself chose tobe subject to her on earth.
Will he have less regard for hernow that she reigns with him in
heaven?
He has entrusted to her, as itwere, the general disposition of
all his blessings, and itpleases him to give us a share
of them through her.
(04:21):
Finally, if a tenderly lovedwife can obtain everything she
wants from her husband, Mary, who is spouse of the Holy
Spirit, can petition her divinespouse on our behalf and obtain
even the greatest graces.
God has appointed her queen ofheaven and earth, and has given
her a power suitable to herrank.
(04:43):
Of what value would the title ofqueen be to her if she could not
help those in need and make themhappy?
When the saints petition God, hesometimes answers them with the
most striking miracles.
Will he be more reluctant toanswer the prayers of her who is
the queen of all saints?
(05:04):
Scripture verse of the day andthis is the boldness we have in
him, that if we ask anythingaccording to his will, he hears
us, and if we know that he hearsus in whatever we ask, we know
that we have obtained therequests made of him.
(05:26):
Saint of the Day The Saint ofthe Day for November 14th is
Saint John Lichi.
Saint John Liche lived betweenfourteen hundred and fifteen
eleven.
He was born to a poor peasantfarmer near Palermo, Sicily.
His mother died in childbirth, and his father was forced to
leave his infant alone at homewhile he worked in the fields.
(05:46):
One day a neighbor woman heardthe baby's cries and in
compassion brought the childinto her home to care for him.
When she laid the baby on thebed next to her paralyzed
husband, he was miraculouslycured of his disease.
Mr.
Leachie was unhappy with thewoman's meddling and brought his
son back into his home.
However, when he did so, hisneighbor's paralysis returned.
(06:09):
Mr.
Lichee took this as a sign thatGod wanted the couple to help
him care for his son.
This was the first of manymiracles John Leachie would
perform throughout his life.
He joined the Dominican Order in1415 and was a friar for
ninety-six years, the longestperiod known for any religious
to wear the habit.
His miracles include themultiplication of building
(06:32):
materials used for a convent hefounded, miraculously feeding a
poor widow and her six children, raising a dead boy to life, and
curing three people whose headshad been crushed in accidents.
Consequently, he has beendesignated the patron saint of
head injuries.
He is the longest living saintin the Catholic Church, dying at
(06:52):
the age of one hundred andeleven.
Saint John Leachie, pray for us.
Readings for Holy Mass forFriday of the thirty second week
in ordinary time A reading fromthe Book of Wisdom, chapter
thirteen verses one throughnine.
All men were by nature foolishwho were in ignorance of God,
(07:14):
and who from the good thingsseen did not succeed in knowing
him who is, and from studyingthe works did not discern the
artisan, but either fire or windor the swift air, or the circuit
of the stars, or the mightywater, or the luminaries of
heaven, the governors of theworld, they considered gods.
(07:35):
Now if out of joy in theirbeauty they thought them gods,
let them know how far moreexcellent is the Lord than
these, for the original sourceof beauty fashioned them, or if
they were struck by their mightand energy, let them from these
things realize how much morepowerful is he who made them.
For from the greatness and thebeauty of created things their
(07:59):
original author by analogy isseen.
But yet for these the blame isless, for they indeed have gone
astray, perhaps, though theyseek God and wish to find him,
for they search busily among hisworks, but are distracted by
what they see because the thingsseen are fair.
But again, not even these arepardonable, for if they so far
(08:23):
succeeded in knowledge that theycould speculate about the world,
how did they not more quicklyfind its Lord?

Gospel according to Luke chapterseventeen verses twenty six
through thirty seven.
Jesus said to his disciples, Asit was in the day of Noah, so it
will be in the days of the Sonof Man.
They were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage
up to the day that Noah enteredthe ark, and the flood came and
(09:32):
destroyed them all.
Similarly as it was in the daysof Lot, they were eating,
drinking, buying, selling,planting, building.
On the day when Lot left Sodom, fire and brimstone rained from
the sky to destroy them all.
So it will be on the day the Sonof Man is revealed.
On that day someone who is onthe housetop and whose
(09:54):
belongings are in the house mustnot go down to get them, and
likewise one in the field mustnot return to what was left
behind.
Remember the wife of Lot.
Whoever seeks to preserve hislife will lose it, but whoever
loses it will save it.
I tell you, on that night therewill be two people in one bed,
(10:15):
one will be taken, the otherleft, and there will be two
women grinding meal together, one will be taken, the other
left.
They said to him in reply,Where, Lord, he said to them,
Where the body is, there alsothe vultures will gather.
