September 5th is Saint MotherTeresa of Calcutta.

Saint Mother Teresa of Calcuttalived between 1910 and 1997.
She was known simply as MotherTeresa.
She was born to a family ofAlbanian descent in what is now
Macedonia.
As a young girl, Mother Teresawas fascinated by stories she
heard of missionaries serving inIndia.
By age 12, she discerned avocation to the religious life,

and at the age joined theSisters of Loreto as a
missionary to India.
She chose her religious nameafter Saint Therese of Lisieux,
the patron saint ofmissionaries.
She arrived in Calcutta, Indiain 1929 and taught at a

She enjoyed her work, but becameincreasingly disturbed by the

In 1946, she received a callwithin a call.
and began her own religiousorder in Calcutta dedicated to

This order was established in1950 with 12 sisters and named

operating 610 missions in 123countries.
She received the Pope John XXIIIPeace Prize and the Nobel Peace
