Starting the morning
off with God is the key to
strength and success in yourday.
Good morning! Today is Monday,September 15, 2025, the Memorial
of Our Lady of Sorrows.
Devotion to Our Lady of Sorrowsbecame widespread in the Church
around the 14th century.
It was revealed to St.
(00:21):
Bridget of Sweden, who livedbetween 1303 and 1373, that
devotion to Our Lady's sevensorrows would bring great
graces— Mary, in a unique way, willingly suffered alongside her
divine son as he gave his lifeto save the world, and she felt
the bitterness of his passion asonly a mother can.
This devotion is especiallyremembered during September, the
(00:45):
month of Our Lady of Sorrows, and during the season of Lent.
The seven sorrows of Mary arethe prophecy of Simeon, the
flight into Egypt, the loss ofJesus for three days, the
carrying of the cross, thecrucifixion Please join me in

Father.

(01:42):
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
(02:10):
Thy kingdom come, thy will bedone, On earth as it is in
heaven, give us this day ourdaily bread, and forgive us our
trespasses as we forgive thosewho trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, theLord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy
(02:33):
womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, prayfor us sinners, now and at the
hour of our death.

Quote from St.
(03:01):
John Bosco, Patience smoothsaway lots of difficulties.
Meditation of the Day, anexcerpt from A Year with Mary by
St.
Alphonsus Liguori, page 222.
In this valley of tears, everyman is born to weep, and all
(03:21):
must suffer, by enduring theevils that take place every day.
But how much greater would bethe misery of life if we also
knew the future evils that awaitus?
Unfortunate indeed would be thesituation of someone who knows
the future, says the pagan Romanphilosopher Seneca.
He would have to suffereverything by anticipation.
(03:42):
Our Lord shows us this mercy.
He conceals the trials thatawait us, so that, whatever they
may be, we may endure them onlyonce.
But he didn't show Mary thiscompassion.
God willed her to be the queenof sorrows, and in all things
like his Son.
So she always had to see beforeher eyes and continually to
(04:04):
suffer all the torments thatawaited her.
And these were the sufferings ofthe passion and death of her
beloved Jesus.
For in the temple, Saint Simeon, having received the divine child
in his arms, Jesus, our King andHis Most Holy Mother, didn't
(04:26):
refuse, for love of us, tosuffer such cruel pains
throughout their lives.
So, it's reasonable that we, atleast, should not complain if we
have to suffer something.
Scripture verse of the day.
Isaiah 52, verse 7.
(04:58):
Saint of the Day The Saint ofthe Day for September 15th is
Saint Catherine of Genoa.
Saint Catherine of Genoa livedbetween 1447 and 1510.
She was born into anaristocratic family in Genoa,
Italy.
She was a quiet, obedient, physically beautiful, and holy
child who devoted herself toprayer and penance.
(05:20):
At the age of 13, she made anattempt to enter a convent, but
was rejected.
At the age of 16, she consentedto a marriage arranged by her
family for political andfinancial gain.
Her husband was faithless andviolent, and their marriage was
miserable.
Catherine did not bear anychildren and for the first five
(05:40):
years lived as a hermit in herfine home.
After this time, upon herfamily's rebuke of her solitude,
she began to engage in the kindof social activity expected for
her state in life.
This only increased herweariness and depression and led
to the loss of her religiousfervor.
Catherine's Catherine prayedearnestly for assistance in her
(06:00):
trouble.
Taking the advice of her sister, who was a nun, Catherine went to
confession, and through thesacrament had a profound
mystical experience in which sheclearly saw the depth of her
sinfulness contrasted with thedepth of God's love.
From that point on, she renewedher commitment to rigorous
prayer, penance, and works ofmercy, and God continued to
(06:22):
favor her with mystical visions.
Catherine later won theconversion of her husband, and
they were received into theThird Order of St.
Francis.
Together, they cared for thepoor and sick in the Genoa
Hospital, over which Catherinebecame administrator.
St.
Catherine's mystical visionswere recorded by her confessor
toward the end of her life, themost famous being her Treatise
(06:45):
of Purgatory.
Her feast day is celebrated onSeptember 15th.
