Meditation of the day an excerptfrom A Year with the Church
Fathers Saint Clement Page nineThink, dear friends, how the
Lord continually proves to usthat there will be a
resurrection to come, of whichHe made the Lord Jesus Christ
the first fruits by raising himfrom the dead.
(02:35):
Contemplate the resurrectionthat is always going on.
Day and night declare theresurrection to us.
The night sinks to sleep and theday rises.
The day departs and the nightcomes on.
Look at the crops, how the grainis sown.
The sower goes out and throws iton the ground, and the scattered
seed, dry and bare when it fellon the ground, is gradually
(02:59):
dissolved.
Then, out of its disintegration, the mighty power of the Lord's
providence raises it up again, and from one seed come many
bearing fruit.
Scripture verse of the day.
Submit yourselves therefore toGod.
Resist the devil, and he willflee from you.
(03:19):
Draw near to God, and he willdraw near to you.
Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you
double minded.
Lament and mourn and weep.
Let your laughter be turned intomourning, and your joy into
dejection.
Humble yourselves before theLord, and he will exalt you.
