prayers, works, joys, andsufferings of this day, for all
the intentions of your sacredheart, in union with the holy
sacrifice of the Mass throughoutthe world, for the salvation of
souls, the reparation of sins,the reunion of all Christians,

and in particular for the holyintentions of the Holy Father

Saint of the day.
The saint of the day forSeptember twenty fifth is Saint
Cleophys.
Saint Cleophys lived in thefirst century.
He was one of Jesus' seventydisciples, and one of the two
disciples who were travelingalong the road to Emmaus after
the crucifixion and resurrectionof Jesus in Jerusalem, as
recounted in Luke's gospel.

The resurrected Jesus appearedand walked along the road with
Saint Cleophys and hiscompanion, explaining the events
of his passion and how theyfulfilled the Holy Scriptures.
According to one tradition,Cleophys, also known as Alpheus,
was a relative of Jesus.
He was the brother of SaintJoseph, and therefore was Jesus'

uncle.
Cleophus was the husband ofSaint Mary of Cleophys, and they
had three sons we know by name,Saint Simon, Saint James the
Less, and Saint Jude.
Saint Cleophus, through hisdaughter Mary Salome, was also
grandfather to Saint James theGreater and Saint John.
Therefore, three of his sons andtwo of his grandsons were among

the twelve apostles.
According to tradition, SaintCleophus was martyred by the
Jewish authorities in the samehome in which he received Jesus
as a guest.
