the intentions of your sacredheart, in union with the holy

(00:42):
and in particular for the holyintentions of the Holy Father
this month, amen.
Prayers for the Holy FatherAlmighty and everlasting God,
have mercy upon thy servant,Pope Leo XV, our Supreme
Pontiff, and direct himaccording to thy loving kindness
in the way of eternal salvation, that of thy gift he may ever

(01:05):
desire that which is pleasingunto thee, and may accomplish it
with all his might, throughChrist our Lord, amen.
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will bedone, on earth as it is in
heaven.
Give us this day our dailybread, and forgive us our
trespasses, as we forgive thosewho trespass against us, and

(01:28):
lead us not into temptation, butdeliver us from evil, amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, theLord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy
womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, prayfor us sinners, now and at the
hour of our death, amen.
Glory be to the Father and tothe Son and to the Holy Spirit,

(01:51):
as it was in the beginning, isnow, and ever shall be, world
without end, amen.
In the name of the Father and ofthe Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
amen.
Quote from Saint Arnold JansenSince love completes all, makes
all hard things soft, and thedifficult easy, let us strive to

(02:14):
make all our acts proceed fromlove.
Meditation of the Day an excerptfrom Manual for Spiritual
Warfare by Saint JohnChrysostom, pages one hundred
fifty two to one fifty three.
The devil didn't deal outtemptations to our Lord only.
He brings these evil schemes ofhis to bear on each of Jesus'

(02:37):
servants, and not just on themountain or in the wilderness,
or when we're by ourselves.
No, he comes after us in thecity as well, in the
marketplaces, in courts ofjustice.
He tempts us by means of others, even our own relatives.
So what must we do?
We must disbelieve himaltogether and close our ears

(02:59):
against him, and hate hisflattery.
And when he tries to tempt usfurther by offering us even
more, then we should shun himall the more.
We aren't as intent on gainingour own salvation as he is
intent on achieving our ruin.
So we must shun him, not withwords only, but also with works,

(03:21):
not in mind only, but also indeed.
We must do none of the thingsthat He approves, for in that
way will we do all those thingsthat God approves.
Yes, for the devil also makesmany promises, not so that he
may give them to us, but so thathe may take away from us.
He promises plunder, so that hemay deprive us of the kingdom of

(03:45):
God and of righteousness.
He sets out treasures in theearth as snares and traps, so
that he may deprive us both ofthese and of the treasures in
heaven.
He would have us be rich in thislife, so that we may not be rich
in the next.
Scripture verse of the day.

(04:09):
He will hide me in the shelterof his sacred tent, and set me
high upon a rock.
Then my head will be exaltedabove the enemies who surround
me.
At his sacred tent I willsacrifice with shouts of joy.
I will sing and make music tothe Lord.
Psalm twenty seven verses fivethrough six.

(04:33):
Saint of the day.
The saint of the day forNovember twelfth is Saint
Josephat.
Saint Joseph lived between 1580and 1623.
He was born to a devoutreligious family of Ruthinian
ancestry in what is now Ukraine, and was baptized in the Eastern
Orthodox Church.
He devoted his virginity to theVirgin Mary and grew in his

(04:55):
reverence for ancient liturgy.
During a revival of EasternCatholic monastic life, he
became a monk in the Order ofSaint Basil, and was ordained to
holy orders in the UkrainianGreek Catholic Church in sixteen
oh nine.
He was noted for his life ofasceticism, holiness, and virtue
which led to his appointment asArchbishop of Polotsk in what is

(05:17):
today Belarus.
During his lifetime there wasmuch socio-political and
ecclesiastical rivalry betweenthe Catholics and Orthodox,
especially in the wake of the1596 Union of Brest, which saw
the Ruthenian rite break withorthodoxy and come under the
authority of the Holy See.
Saint Josephat was passionateabout working for the

(05:39):
reunification with Rome and wonmany heretics and schismatics
back to communion with Rome.
However, he was also stronglyopposed to the Latinization of
his people.
This combination of views drewire from both Catholic and
Orthodox clergy.
His diocese was contested by theOrthodox, and a rival Orthodox

(05:59):
bishop was set up to oppose him, causing riots.
During one uprising, Josephattried to calm the tensions and
work for reunification andpeace, but his enemies plotted
to kill him.
A mob of Orthodox Christiansentered Joseph's home, stabbed
and axed his body, and threw itinto a river.
His body was seen glowing in thewater and was recovered.

(06:22):
After his martyrdom, manymiracles were attributed to his
intercession.
Josephat's sacrifice became ablessing as regret and sorrow
over his death converted manyhearts towards reunification
within the Catholic Church.
In eighteen sixty seven, Josephbecame the first saint of the
Eastern Church to be formallycanonized by Rome.

(06:45):
Saint Josephat, pray for us.
Readings for Holy Mass forWednesday of the thirty second
week in ordinary time.
A reading from the Book ofWisdom, chapter six verses one
through eleven.
Hear, O kings, and understand.
Learn you magistrates of theearth's expanse.

(07:07):
Hearken, you who are in powerover the multitude and lord it
over throngs of peoples, becauseauthority was given you by the
Lord and sovereignty by the mosthigh who shall probe your works
and scrutinize your counsels, because though you were
ministers of his kingdom, youjudged not rightly, and did not
keep the law, nor walk accordingto the will of God.

(07:30):
Terribly and swiftly shall hecome against you, because
judgment is stern for theexalted, for the lowly may be
pardoned out of mercy, but themighty shall be mightily put to
the test.
For the Lord of all shows nopartiality, nor does he fear
greatness, because he himselfmade the great as well as the

(07:51):
small, and he provides for allalike, but for those in power a
rigorous scrutiny impends.
To you, therefore, O princes, are my words addressed, that you
may learn wisdom and that youmay not sin, for those who keep
the holy precepts hollowed shallbe found holy, and those learned
in them will have ready aresponse.

(08:14):
Desire therefore my words, longfor them, and you shall be
instructed.
The Word of the LordResponsorial Psalm Psalm eighty
two Rise up, O God, bringjudgment to the earth.
Defend the lowly and thefatherless, render justice to
the afflicted and the destitute, rescue the lowly and the poor

(08:38):
from the hand of the wickeddeliver them.
Rise up, O God, bring judgmentto the earth.
I said, You are gods, all of yousons of the most high, yet like
men you shall die and fall likeany prince.
Rise up, O God, bring judgmentto the earth.

(09:00):

seventeen verses eleven throughnineteen.
As Jesus continued his journeyto Jerusalem, he travelled
through Samaria and Galilee.
As he was entering a village, ten lepers met him.
They stood at a distance fromhim and raised their voice
saying, Jesus, master, have pityon us.

(09:23):
And when he saw them, he said,Go show yourselves to the
priests.
As they were going, they werecleansed, and one of them,
realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a
loud voice, and he fell at thefeet of Jesus and thanked him.
He was a Samaritan.
Jesus said in reply, Ten werecleansed, were they not?

(09:46):
Where are the other nine?
Has none but this foreignerreturned to give thanks to God?
Then he said to him, Stand upand go, your faith has saved
you.
