Saint Gerard Sagredo livedbetween 980 and 1046 AD.
He was born in Venice, Italy.
From an early age, he desired todedicate his life to God and as
a young man became a Benedictinemonk.
He first served as abbot at amonastery in Venice, but left to
make a pilgrimage to the HolyLand.

While passing through Hungary,he met the Hungarian king, Saint
Stephen, who asked him to stayin his country to evangelize and
minister to his people.

Gerard agreed and was namedBishop of Sanad and the royal
tutor of the Hungarian prince.

to convert the whole country toChristianity, for which he is
