Speaker 1 (00:00):
CEOs you should know here from local leaders in the community.
Made possible by Witcom and hess. CPAs and Financial Advisors
are featured CEO this week. We're excited to have in
studio the president and CEO of Third Street Family Health Services.
They help a lot of people in the area. They
(00:20):
have campuses in multiple counties. We say good morning to
Peggy Anderson.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
How are you. I am doing well, Good morning, Thanks
for having me. I'm very excited to be here today. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
We have spoke several times, but over the phone. First
chance to have you in the studios. We appreciate you
coming in today.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Yeah, it's a great day too, so it's perfect.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Yeah, awesome. So people in the community may know about
Third Street, but there may be new people and we're
having lots move into the area. So let's learn a
little bit about you guys. You offer a lot. I
mentioned that, so tell us what you guys do.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Yeah. Third Street Family Health Services is the local community
health center. So we have offices, certainly more services in
Richland County than any other county, but we have a
couple of offices in Ashland, one in bu Cyrus and
Crawford County, than one in Marion where we provide mental
health services.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
So in terms of overall services, somebody hears about third stick,
could you list you talked about mental health services a
little bit, list what all you guys offer.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Yeah, so community health centers really tried to do some
wrap around services around your basic care. So our largest
service by far is primary care. We want folks to
make sure they have access to that just healthy environment,
follow up preventative medicine, and then to deal with any
kind of chronic diseases or illnesses that they may have.
(01:41):
We also have a very large dental program. We have
three dental clinics and two of our counties. That's a
really nice benefit for folks, particularly who have Medicaid, because
it's oftentimes harder to find a dentist or dental facility
that will take Medicaid. And that's by far a large
portion of our dental patients. But then again, we provide
health services to a large portion of our patients. Also
(02:03):
provide things like pedietary. We have some community health workers
that help folks maybe when they need access to housing resources,
linkage to benefits, those kinds of services, so kind of
a well rounded also, I almost forgot I don't know
how women's health, so we provide a lot of women's healthcare, prenatal, postpartum.
We don't deliver at this point in time, but we
(02:25):
have done so in the past.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
All right, learning again this morning about Third Street Family
Health Services. They're president and CEO Peggy Anderson, visiting with
us in studio, so we hear four counties. You and
I were standing in Mansfield, so we're in Richland. You
mentioned Crawford, Ashland. You have a lot of campuses. Could
you share a little bit about that.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Yeah, we have ten clinical campuses, so in campus is
probably a little bigger title. Some of those offices have
a couple of providers only others are larger. Many are
familiar with our Third Street location in Man's face. We
have two locations in Ashland, one dental and one primary care.
And in Busyrus we have one building with a lot
of mental health and primary care and then Mary and
(03:09):
just mental health. And then in Richland we have several offices.
So we have a school based health center at Malabar
Intermediate that is a very successful partnership with the school
system here. We have offices in Mansfield, several of those,
one around closer to downtown Mansfield, so that folks maybe
who need to walk or who have some other transportation
(03:30):
issues are easier find it easier to get there. And
then we also have a campus that's with catalysts, so
we're on there campus provide primary care there. Other folks
can come. It's not just limited to catalyst patients. But yeah,
we're ten strong in all four of our counties.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Yeah, I want to mention in Marion County two. We
said Richland, Crawford, Ashland, and Marion County. Recently, I know
you and I talked about this may have been last
year year before. I know you remodeled over in Shelby. Correct.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Yeah, we actually we're fortunate to get enough to get
a federal grant to renovate that location. Needed the floors
completely dug up and needed just some basic fixtures, but
also some really infrastructure fixtures to the building, and so
we were able to completely remodel that building. We've reopened now.
It's been very successful. The patients and Shelby were amazing.
(04:20):
They stuck with our providers, even though for probably nine
or ten months they had to go to another location
to see those providers. But they've transitioned back and the
practice is as busy as it has ever been, so
we're very excited about that. We're also hoping to add
a few more services down the road at that location.
Currently we have medical and dental. Hope to add some
(04:40):
women's health and some other maybe mental health services as
we can grow and expand.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
All Right, the voice you hear today is Peggy Anderson.
We are chatting with her, President CEO of Third Street
Family Health Services. She's our featured CEO. You should know
you brought up providers and one of the things you
told me you have some great providers. You guys work
with talk about that.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
We really do. I've had folks say to me, you know,
we have sometimes I think a reputation of you can
only come to us if you have medicator, if you
don't have insurance. And while those patients are important to
us and we certainly want to serve those, I've had
so many people say, hey, I have really great insurance
and I choose to go to Third Street because the
providers are amazing. And that's true. We just have from
(05:27):
whether that's dental, medical, pedietry, mental health, we just have
people who care about the community. They're here for the
mission of what we're about, helping us fill the gaps
in the needs in the community. The team is also
really good at sharing, Hey, it would be great if
we could offer this service or resource, it would help
(05:49):
our patients. And so I'm just so proud to work
with a team who's so dedicated, who cares about the
quality of care that we provide. It's just important and
I think really benefit to be on that team. It's
just pretty remarkable.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
I was thinking the word team when you said that,
and see you smile on your face, the excitement as
you talk about your organization Third Street Family Health Services. Again,
we are talking with president and CEO Peggy Anderson today.
So in terms of employees, so you talk about a
great team, ten campuses in all of this, how many
(06:24):
employees do you guys have on staff?
Speaker 2 (06:27):
We have about two hundred and forty five staff at
this very moment. They you know, certainly, as I mentioned,
Richard's are largest, but we have quite a large group
also in b Cyrus and Marion. Smaller campuses in Ashland,
but still a really dedicated team there. But yeah, we
have everything from the front desk, team members, medical assistants,
dental assistance, to the providers. It's pretty remarkable to see
(06:50):
the growth over the years for Third Street in general.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Are you guys fully staffed now? You're good. You're looking
for anybody right now?
Speaker 2 (06:56):
You know, we're always looking for someone, so definitely check
out our website for career options. You know a couple
providers we're always looking forward to. It's always good to know.
Check us out if you to call us. You never
know when we might have something in the future as well.
But yeah, I mean, I think we're fairly well staffed,
but I know that we have a few key positions
(07:16):
that are that are looking.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
All right, always looking for good people. So if somebody
wants to reach out, could you leave us the website.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Yeah, it's third Street Family dot org. Pretty easy. We
wanted to make it something that folks could remember. We
also have social media pages. Just google third Street and
you'll track us.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
Down, all right, terrific, Peggy. While we have you before,
we learned about you. It's been a great conversation this
morning learning about Third Street Family Health Services where you
are president and CEO. We talk about you guys, and
we talked about the coverage area and all of that.
How many years now for you in the role.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Yeah. So I'm just ready to hit my five year
anniversary with Third Street. I started in September of twenty
twenty and it has been remarkable, just a lot of growth,
a lot of building our infrastructure, expanding some services. It's
strengthening things like our school based program, which has gone
again remarkably well. So it's been an exciting five years.
(08:14):
I think twenty twenty five so far is turning out
to be my favorite. I think we're settling in a bit.
We've got again really great team members and really starting
to work even more so as a cohesive team for
our future so that we're here for a long time
to come.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Third Street has ten campuses, You're in four counties. Do
you roughly know how many people in a year, in
a week and a month, whatever numbers you have, how
many you know come see you guys. You offer so much.
We mentioned but you have a ballpark number.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Yeah, I actually do know this. So in twenty twenty
four we saw twenty four seven hundred patients and for
over one hundred and ten thousand visits. So and that's
across all of the service lines that we have. We
do have a lot of folks who are taking the
time and working directly with our patients and our clients.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Awesome to hear. Well, let's step away from work and
find out more about Peggy Anderson. So people may wonder
where was she born? Where did she go to high school? College?
Had you get into this role? So let's kind of
start at the beginning and tell us a little bit
about where you're from and going to school too.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Yeah. So I'm originally from southern Ohio, a very small
town in Pike County called Beaver two stop lights probably
only needs one of those. My parents still live there.
My brother lives in Chillocothee, which is just a little
north of where they live. Now, I have lived my
husband and I. My husband's also from southern Ohio, Chris.
He and I have lived in Columbus now for thirty
(09:37):
plus years. I went to the University of Ryogrand in
southern Ohio, great school, loved it smaller, and then I
got my masters at Ohio State worked for an organization
in a nonprofit in columb My entire career has been nonprofit,
so I've worked in nonprofits there for many years and
saw the opening at Third Street and thought this is amazing,
(09:59):
So let's try this. Got this job and love the
mission of health centers. I am. I've got a bachelor's
and a master's in social work, another master's in healthcare administration,
and community health centers just speak to the reason I
became a social worker. They speak to me from a
mission level, particularly serving those that might not have access
(10:20):
to care, basic resources, to the support of maybe in
their natural lives. And I love to be part of
a system that can help provide all of those things.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
All right, now, I heard you say, husband, I don't
know if you have kids or not. What do you
like to do in your spare time to tell us
a little more about it?
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Yeah, so no kids. We have had a cat for
a very long time, unfortunately just lost the little guy.
Chris and I love to do things like travel. We
are taking my in laws. We're going with them to
New York City soon to experience that. So we're looking
forward to that travel. And then we're big board game players,
so we probably own more board games than is reasonable
(10:58):
to own at this point.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
I like the way you were to that great terrific Again,
we are chatting with Peggy Anderson, President CEO of Third
Street Family health services are featured CEO. You should know
this week all right, as we get back to work.
Before I let you go, I brought this up to
you off there. But now the MIC's are on and
we're talking people always I don't know where to go
(11:24):
or do you offer this? Give you guys a call,
give you a minute here to talk about. If somebody
is just not sure who to turn to, provider may
be there for them, they don't know. Does Third Street
do this? You and I were talking about this. You
guys offer so much. Give you guys a call if
you would share a little bit about there if they
don't know who to talk to.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
Yeah, absolutely, I think you know. If you're somebody who
likes to check out things online, our website has a
really good descriptor of all of our locations, our providers,
what services we offer, our hours, our phone numbers, so
definitely check that out. If not, you can call our
main number and whoever answers can actually direct you to
the right service area, the right phone number, transfer you
(12:05):
and we can certainly talk through what it is you
need and where you need to go.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Is there anything we missed this morning? I'm going to
have you give us the website again before I let
you go to But anything you offer people are not
aware of any I know you guys do a lot
of events in the community as well. I know you
guys are a block party. I know you've done for years.
You guys are very involved in the community. But anything
we've missed that you want to share, you know.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
I think a couple of things that I would share.
We do a few events, and it's going to be
coming up on our Veterans event. Our dental team has
led that for years now where we offer free dental
care to our veterans, and we're also trying to do
more and more medical screenings. Have a little event for
our veterans who want to take the opportunity. Some just
(12:48):
stop by and see what we have. Others are actually
there to get care, so it's a nice little way
to to just socialize. On that day. We did just
have our block party, over six hundred folks in attendance.
That was at Malabar as well, so that was really great.
But I think the other thing that I would share
is we really try to provide some coordinated care. So
(13:09):
if you're there for medical we might want to tell
you Hey, have you gotten your dental care taken care of?
You know, we know that usually it's not just one
thing is going wrong. So, for instance, our pregnant women,
we really try to connect them with dental care because
the health of the mom and the baby, that dental
care before they are before the baby is born is
(13:31):
so important for that mom, and a lot of people
don't think that. They actually think there are myths of
you shouldn't get dental care when you're pregnant, and that's
just not the case. So just the tie in of
all of our services and how they wrap around our
patients is really key. So that's the thing I just
like to remind folks of is we want to be
a healthcare home and that includes dental, pedietary, mental health,
(13:52):
women's health, It includes all of it together.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
And again before I let you go, give us your
website if they want more information, they can get phone
numbers as well well. But where do they go to?
Speaker 2 (14:01):
Yeah? The website is third Street Family dot org.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
All right, third Street Family dot org. They offer services
four counties, ten campuses, what two hundred and forty plus employees.
A lot of great things happening with Third Street Family
Health services their president. They're CEO visiting with us this morning,
